I’ve watched all these videos in explained needle depth and they all explain but I love your video because you even show how what i’ve been trying to find! Not only how much is supposed to go into the skin and how much each one should stick out even marking it makes it visually understandable for beginners. Thanks for the help!!
aryan delband I'm new in tattoo industry and I've watched alot of videos about needle depth and still struggling with in. No one simplified it and explained it as you did. I always get blowouts or fade away completely and couldn't understand why and that's the reason I couldn't start tattooing after 4 months of practice and ended up with alot of bad tattoos on my skin. I've tried to put 2 millimeters or 3 millimeters in and focusing on this and that to much as every other tattoo artists say and what they did to explain it was similar to rocket science. But you and your red marker did the best and the simplest understandable explaining. Thank you dude i love your work. 🤘👍
3 millimeters are way to mutch! For me can say 1,5 millimeters are the Goal. Test this,i think you would feel it when you right in the dermis! So i have learned,i Had the same problemls Like you at startin! See your comment ist 8months ago,can you send me If you Hit the Goal and geht the ink right in the dermis? Pls ,the best whishes from Austria Vienna 🇦🇹😉🎭
Oliver, you’re the best. By far. I find your tips (pun intended) the best! 😀 But seriously, very grateful for your sharing the knowledge and how you do it. PRICELESS. Thank you!!!!!!!
You're amazing Oliver! Thank you so much for your videos, they're really helpful and so easy to follow! I love learning with you! Keep up the good work! Blessings from Spain ❤️
You're f---ing awesome. These videos are by far the best on UA-cam. They're invaluable and I can't thank you enough!! If you're ever in the states (midwest area) I'm first in line to get tattooed by you.
I’m glad your wearing gloves to demonstrate,,,,I hate it when people do tattoo tutorials and handle there machines/equipment without gloves, I’ve probably only touched my machine a few times in my career without gloves on, and never set up my station without them , rad video from Texas ;)
Top Video Oliver! Thx for Your great content,it helps so mutch! You have the easyest ways to learn it right ! Sorry for my Bad English i am from Austria Vienna (German language) , PATZL 😉✌️🇦🇹
Your information is Golden Thankyou finally all this made sense You have a gift to be a Teacher soild valuable information for people with passion for Tattooing great job mate!!
Don’t go to anyone that says this bro, all needle depth should be the same at least 2mm to get past epidermis layer of skin, some skins vary depending on age, hard to stretch skin, etc but overall all tattoos should be at the same depth just most pressure for bigger needles
It’s always nice to go back and reassure myself thank you for another great video watching your videos really helped me. Between you and Johnny gault I’ve seen such progress very quickly
ferngarciav voltage can’t really be taught. Something you kind of have to play with. Different machines run differently. One persons style could be way different than another. Start around 6volts adjust your style hand hand speed. Got find what works for you
Hey, I’ve contemplated doing something similar and wonder if you have any videos? I’m new to tattooing so it would be handy to see how they turn out on tougher skin 😊
Wonderful explanation... Please Make a vedio about the speed and voltage settings on coil machines....and how to avoid skin torns should I reduce voltage? That makes machine hard to penetration.
Voltage depends on the kind of machine you use. So it would be difficult for anyone to explain that. Use this equation stitch per second / maximum wattage. This is only for rotary machines
Hello ✋, all your videos are fuc...g great, thank you ! Could you make one about : How to hold tattoo machine and why....it's very important and no tattoo artist talks about that. 👍😉
Thanks Man! For share us your experience. Very useful The curved magnun we call in spanish tongue cat "lengua de gato" for The curved shape of the needles
Raising the voltage on a rotary would only run the machine faster. If you want the 18 to go in, you need to push a little bit. If u use a coil, raising the voltage may not be enough. You need a machine with stronger coils to push that kind of a grouping.
One of the good tips i got here is Do not go to much into depth.. Just tip of needles are enough.. But ofc it all depends on which part of skin you work.. But could you confirm this if i do solid black coloring i should not go so deep? I ve seen may videos tattoo artist coloring with more then 2 mm even 2.5 to 3mm depth.. I think thats to much and the dmg will be insane on the skin ...
It looks like the smaller the needle grouping (like the 3 round liner) the less you push it into the skin ? It looks like its marked alot higher in red then the other liner, as if you put less into the skin. But that confused me because i thought all needle depths had to penetrate at the same 1.5-2mm to hold ink or am i wrong? Sorry just trying to figure this all out
Hello, I know how to draw and want to start tattooing, what cartridges would you recommend me to get for lining and shading as far as brands. I have been learning so much from your videos, you are extremely awesome!!!! Thank you so much, we need more people like you in this world 🙌💯
Thanks for the tips! No pun intended! Lol ok maybe a little. But in all seriousness could you put a link to a reputable supplier of good quality machines and supplies? Thank you!
What speed would you do a 3R liner?. My tatt healed dull & faded. Volt 6.5. Myself or the voltage was too fast. Too fast. Vs too slow. I believe the issue was here.???? Thoughts appreciated- anyone. This is just a fun hobby. But still need perfection
Very helpful! I've been getting so frustrated with liners, I'm always told that I'm either being to light on the skin of that I'm on the verge of blowing out but the depth was never explained to me in relation to where the needles begin to taper. Do you have any advice on how to fully saturate black filled areas with a mag? My mentor tels me to chisel up from the line, but I still find patchy areas, and feel like I end up burning the skin out...
would of been cool to talk about needle depth based on the science of why you only tattoo at that depth and how it relates to skin layers, epidermis and dermis, but over all great video :)
Great tips man.i have a question. Which needle is good for realism bugpin or standard needles? And which needle have more ink flow and less ink flow bugpin or standard. Thank you.fan from hong kong.
Look at it this way...reg needless flow more ink because of the gaps in the needles, mags tend to hold more ink because there is not much gaps. I use bugpins for saturation and packing and reg needles for soft texturing

Wow thats kind a informative. Thank you... I really appreciate your vids..

Jesus, I've got sleeves on arm and leg but actually seeing how deep that needle goes in freeks me out lol

Best tutorial ever! Youre amazing brother!
This is quite good..helps out alot
Thank you for sharing! Could you please explain why someone may want to use bug pins when tattooing rather than regular needles?
Ericka Kessen bug pins are finer needles made closer to each other creating a smoother blend, Great for black and grey work
Check out my work at @mika.tattoo on Instagram :(
FINALLY. Someone who actually makes sense on this. Check out his insta- you'll know he knows what he's on about.
Super helpful thx dude

The curved magnun we call in spanish tongue cat "lengua de gato" for The curved shape of the needles
Hi, could you do a video on a needle taper long taper vs medium taper? What do you use?
Hi Oliver when you use a 18rl do you raise the voltage compare to a 3 rl? Thanks you for your great videos

When he said just the tip with that funny voice 😂
just the tip mate... just the tip lolol
Omg stop saying "just the tip" 😂 killin me smalls. He's right though, it'd be a great t-shirt. Great demo, thank you!
When you order tubes there are M1 and M2. Does this speak to groupings of one and two rows of mag needles
Christopher Rushing m1 s are Spread out more. M2 more tightly grouped together. Still two rows
Great stuff. Thanks! What types of mags/shaders would you use for different types of shading and coloring? Mind sharing a tutorial?
It looks like the smaller the needle grouping (like the 3 round liner) the less you push it into the skin ? would of been cool to talk about needle depth based on the science of why you only tattoo at that depth and how it relates to skin layers, epidermis and dermis, but over all great video :)

Great video. What needles do you use for color packing and is it the same depth like the ones on your video?
Juan Paolo Maragay all needles can pack color. Standard mags are great for it
Can I use a tip instead of a cartridge on a rotary machine?
