    I love it when he said “you don’t have to understand what I’m saying, just accept it.” I fully understand everything he said but the moment he said THAT, it changed my whole perspective of learning. Not only this in particular, but everything from now on. Much kudos. I’m loving this guy.

    Years ago the first time I attempted to learn to tattoo, I was told that "an apprenticeship would cost the same as a Porsche." The thing about that is, when you leave people to their own devices, it circulates bad information, it causes accidents, and untrained people out there in public making meat out of people's skin. With the addition of places like Amazon, where anyone off the street can purchase a beginners outfit without any knowledge of actual tattooing, and skin experience. It's a bad situation waiting to happen. Ben is the Godfather of Excellence in tattooing. These videos are genius and professionally responsible to the art. Keep saving the day Ben. This is important. To circulate the correct information, to prevent injury and infection because people don't think they can afford to apprentice, or learn from a professional. These are genius.

    I'm glad I found you. I have been looking for tattoo lessons and apprenticeship. I was about to give a tattoo school thousands of dollars I didn't have and you save me. I have been born with a gift of God to draw and have been for years. As an adult I strayed away from it. Now I am at a point in my life where I am miserable doing something I don't love. I'm in chase to do something God gave me the give to do. I am on this journey of becoming a tattoo artist and learning from you. Blessings and love.

      @@BenFisherOfficial What is the difference between pushing the machine, the way you show here, and pulling it? I just started watching your videos, so you may have explained it in a future one I haven't watched yet.... When I'm drawing, for me, it's easier to do a straight line (and even curved lines) if I pull my pencil toward me, rather than pushing it away from me. It also seems like it would be less painful for the person being tattooed to have the needle pulled this way, instead of pushed, and there would be less potential for skin trauma.
      Can you explain the differences please?

    Before I went into the military I apprenticed as a tattoo artist. I apprenticed for nearly a year before beginning my enlistment. Long story short - I was medically retired after a ten year stint and a few years after that I decided I wanted to get back into tattooing. All I'm going to say.. is that I would have given anything to be your apprentice. Your methodology, teaching habits and/or delivery by far exceeds anything I experienced or have seen in the industry. There's no ego involved, there's no hazing or "rites of passage" (IE. "I was treated like shit by my mentor for 5 years, so you will be to") garbage and it's clear you're doing this from a real good place of genuinely wanting people to achieve their goals and become better at their craft. Now, I'm not saying there isn't a place for that type of teaching.... sometimes the pressure of knowing you're going to be scolded, meticulously analyzed etc can be helpful. Afterall diamonds are formed under pressure. Having said that... not everyone learns the same. Expertly done my man.

    Just a quick thanks,I’ve not long started to tattoo and got to say that it’s refreshing to see someone who doesn’t put their ego in front of teaching and passing their advice on! As I practice I’ll send some fake skins in! Thanks again Ben ✌🏼

    Learning to tattoo has been so complicated before this video. You made it simple and yet still talked like we were all smart and didn't immediately jump to tattooing. Somehow the expo marker made everything simple and more graphic for me! Subscribed and definitely following for more!

    Its good to refresh these basics now and again. Caught my self lining at an angle last night trying not to smudge my stencil. Noticed my lines didnt look like they were all the same weight... stopped and really analyzed what I was doing. Note to self don't worry so damn much about the stencil, hand position is more important.

      Hi Ben I'm having problems doing a curved line my arm muscles are tensed and I can't do the curve do I use the whole arm and wrist together..

    • @kreaturs_kave
      @kreaturs_kave 4 роки тому

      @@stevetaylor7841 it's a whole arm movement. I was having trouble at first too. My problem was I had my curved lines drawn in the same direction that fisher had them drawn. The problem with that is he's left-handed and I'm right-handed. After a few whole lines in my wrist was killing me I realize that I was using the wrong hand. I don't know if your right handed or left-handed but that made a difference for me. 👍😎 But either way it's definitely a whole arm movement plus angling the machine in the direction of the ink that you're putting into the skin. I hope this helped

      @@BenFisherOfficial I will recommend your videos to every upcoming artist I meet and share the knowledge. Theres one question that I have, even my mentor cant explain it to me, and that's the difference when using mags. You cant go as deep as a liner when packing or shading but yet it stays if you saturate it enough. I cant figure it out and usually think I'm over working the area trying to saturate it enough (although I haven't scarred anyone as of yet) Waiting to see your vids on mags.

    • @BenFisherOfficial
      @BenFisherOfficial  4 роки тому +1

      The reason is that a liner needle comes to a point and the tips of needles angle towards each other so almost nip under the skin.
      Shader needles don't angle towards each other and so are less stressful to the skin so can be worked a little more before damaging the skin.
      If that makes sence

      Ah right I see what you mean now. The skin is so so thin. Maybe it just seems like your not going that deep..... Or going the correct depth but going deeper with the linework. I always go same depth with line or shading

    Bless you!! ♥️ I've had my machine awhile and been so scared and nervous of even practicing or setting it up that what I was once ecstatic about getting into, became super discouraging. A lot of it was bc all the other instructable videos I'd found had made everything seem so complex and impossible that I felt I just wasn't smart or calm enough (I have severe anxiety and OCD).
    This is the only video that I have come across that not only kept my attention but reminded me that this was something to LOVE, something to enjoy, and something that I could figure out bc unlike all the others you reminded us to keep calm. You're also very thorough and soothing! Thank you for this and for being you! I look forward to the rest of the videos and I am happy that I will be unboxing my machine I had thought I'd be throwing out soon for fear of never being able to "get it".
    You're the man! 🤘 Blessings from the US. If any fellow artists want to add me on Snapchat : KlondykeBarzz or instagram : klondyke_barzz
