I was very happy to see this topic addressed. I just turned 70, and for the last few years, I have noticed a lot of the symptoms of skin thinning that you mentioned, particularly on my forearms- I often find actinic purpura and/or skin tears with no memory of bumping my arms. I have also noticed some little white areas resembling scar tissue that you mentioned. I knew skin thinning was common in aging, but I didn't know that there might be options for slowing the progression. I have bookmarked this video so I can watch it again, and plan to make an appointment with a dermatologist. I appreciate your videos because they are so full of information- you don't talk down to us, but you provide a lot of background, and you make connections between various topics. I know you put in a lot of effort to educate us- thank you!
Amlactin is an AMAZING product at a great price. Just mix 2/3rds amlactin with 1/3rd scented lotion you like and the smell is not noticeable. It helps with soooo many things not just skin thinning! Can even help with ingrown hairs by using before and after shaving or waxing 😊
Thank you for sharing this! As a 65 yo woman, I have thinning of the skin on my hands. I just want to say that I respect your opinion and I know you do a lot of research and I really appreciate that. 💯❣️
I unfortunately was a multiple offender in respect to smoking, sun worshipping, not wearing sunscreen (ever)..I have only recently really been hyper diligent trying to reverse my now prominent sun damage 😫🫣.. at 47 yrs old! I will say that I am blessed with good genes when it comes to skin resiliency, and have seen a vast improvement particularly in my crepey skin on my hands.. which I never even thought to incorporate into my facial skincare routine.. along with my neck and chest. Thank you for pointing out the white spots! I couldn’t figure out why I suddenly had “scars”.. yeah, sun scars! But with your advice, I’ve really seen some real improvement! I no longer focus just on my face; every day I take whatever leftovers I have from my facial care and apply it to the tops of my hands especially. It’s working! Dr Dray, my skin thanks you 🎉❤!!
same! +booze and sugar(advanced glycation endproducts) MedPeel's TCA and Fusion peels over 3 winters has REALLY helped Plus the Kenzii recommended by HotandFlashy and DermaRolling from the LiveYoung lady - Darnell Cox
I just started using Amlactin a couple weeks ago for my arms with KP! It's so good! My skin is feeling so smooth now. 🥰 I'm gonna start using it on other rough dry areas. I was so hesitant to try amlactin for a long time but I'm glad I took a chance on it. I just wish it were less expensive.
Dr. Dray, How do you feel about micro needling for creepy skin on the arms from aging and weight loss? Thanks for your channel and the substantive content.
Amlactin is so underrated. I initially bought it just for the KP on my arms, but it also gets rid of rough dry skin on my legs, which is from years of baking out in the sun at the beach. I am a child of the 60s and 70s when sunscreen was rarely used. It's also great to use on your feet whether to treat calluses or to keep them from occurring. I only buy it when Costco has a sale and buy 2 bottles. I was in TJ Maxx the other day, and they had the 15% Amlactin for $9.99 for a 14 oz bottle. I couldn't find it for less than $22.99 anywhere online, so that was an awesome deal. I could only find one bottle, though.
As usual you have the most researched talks on the web. Thanks for the help!!! I have had a strict skin regimen sending I was 16 years old and at ,71 I am always being confused with 40 and 50 year olds. I have always avoided a lot of sun and have kept my skin clean and moisturized. I appreciate your research !!! You work hard at it and it shows. Why I am a big fan and check in with you regularly.
I reversed my thinning skin (on my face) by washing my face only with water. It really completely changed my facial skin. I do a peel-off mask every 8-10 days. It works because I'm salvaging all the wonderful oils my body makes and utilizing them. The change has been amazing and I'm in my 70s. Do it. Don't waste money on expensive products trying to give you something that your own body is making--every day and night! Use a washcloth without rubbing too hard--you don't need to scrub.
@@lisa-4770 I do use sunscreen and I use an application of expensive Este Lauder dual-use powder. Using water does not give you a squeaky clean feeling, but that doesn't matter anymore. It bothered me for a few weeks. I do a cucumber peel-off mask every 10 days or so which is great. Water removes a lot, just does not break down oils--and that's what I love about it! I formerly used a very inexpensive Neutrogena sun protection cream every morning but they discontinued it. I now use an Aveno SP. I also rub SP50 lip balm all over my lips and around my mouth every morning. I do not like wrinkling around the lips! Grrrrrrrrr.
@@lisa-4770 Everything you need for good, resilient skin is made by your own body--even its ability to shed old skin every single day. The best part is that it's free!
I have been working from home since the past 3yrs, thanks to Covid but I actually love to socialize many days and have some light conversations. I come here every morning to listen to your intellectual talk, Dr Dray, and check out the comments of other friends from around the world and I feel so much better. Thank you one more time for taking the time to share your knowledge to the world for free ❤
This community is amazing! And what jump out to me from your comment is, that because of time zones, watching Dr Dray is an afternoon routine, when i come from work! So funny to me. Happy Tuesday!
I love the backed evidence based science from Dr Dray! Definitely top notch free advise for anyone looking to improve skin health ❤ I have seen multiple dermatologists over the years and I have never heard any of them provide this much information as she provides on here ❤we are lucky to have her on here !
Yes, AmLactin has a funky smell. I have discovered that the odor can be completely masked by adding the tiniest bit of any other strongly scented lotion. AmLactin is awesome. My husband has had five bouts of melanoma and his dermatologist is working to keep his skin hydrated. Oral DHEA and especially AmLactin have been very helpful.
I swear every time a random skincare question pops up in my head, you make a new video that answers that very question. Great video and informative 👌🏼 Thank you
Happy Late Tuesday night Dr Dray and everyone! I needed this in my 71 yr old life! My skin on my arms and legs are like onion skin! Thanks so much Dr Dray for this much needed information! As a retired nurse I remember seeing my renal patients with uremic frost on their legs to which we applied prescribed Lac-Hydrin 12% lotion. I’ve been out of the field for such a long time I wonder if their still using that. Good Lord, I remember my mother telling me and my four brothers to get outside and get some sun, it’s healthy for you! The damage I’ve done to my skin by unprotected prolonged sun exposure! Wish I could turn back the clock at least 65 years! I’m 71 yrs old now! Where did the time go? Again Dr Dray you really take good care of your viewers with you life saving advice! bless you!
It is so obvious that Amlactin is the choice. You said it was shown that there is an increase in the thickness of both the dermis and epidermis. So use it!
My dad has had this for years, and he told me when he asked his doctor about it, that there was nothing he could do. He told him it’s just a normal part of getting old. I know it’s painful and limits a lot of his activities, especially gardening. I’m going to forward this to him. Thank you!
I’m so glad I watched this. I’m 64, never smoked, no COPD, but I grew up in a time when we coated ourselves in baby oil and fried ourselves in the sun. I now have those white spots on my arms, despite wearing sunscreen. I’m going to try the Amlactin.
Thank you for addressing this problem. I had requested that this topic be discussed in your Q&A. I bruise and tear so easily. My arms are often covered with Vaseline and bandaids. I started using AmLactin and was glad to see it mentioned here. I have discussed the problem with my dermatologist, and he said moisturize and use sunscreen. I will ask him about more options at my next exam. Thanks.
I wanted to tell you since you are a dermatologist. My 26 year old sister had a very painful rash the past two years and she kept going in and they kept telling her it was eczema till finally a doc listented and they did testing turns out its a very rare form of skin cancer. No cure but he did tell my sister hes currently treating a patient rn for the same type of cancer and hes been symptom free for 9 years. But she will have to do light threapy and lotion for the rest of her life. Im very close to my siblings so it kills me inside i cant imagine how she feels. Shes already had one light treatment and it burns her skin so he told her wear sun block. She had two kids one 2 and the other almost one. And i cant help but think of them losing their mom. Im keeping high spirits for her i told her im always here for her. So for anyone who gets any kind of weird rash thats painful pls go in you never know. Anyway thanks for the videos drdray
I am so glad my sister shared this video to me, I am 55 I have had vitiligo since I was 16. My skin issue/thinning began in my 40s and now any little bump or scratch causes bruising or serious/deep cuts that bleed quite a bit and take weeks to months to heal. I have recently gotten a new puppy who is very large and jumps on me in his excitement and he has torn my arms up, I was beginning to despair of ever having my skin regain some of its strength back. I have made of list of everything you have talked about in this video and am going to try them, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
This came at the perfect time. I just hit my elbow on the side mirror of my car and knocked a church out of my elbow which bled profusely. I am now 81 so I do have thinning skin and you are the first I have heard talking about this and how to help it not be a problem. I do have a lot of skin damage from the sun . I was not a sun bather but when I was in the sun for very long I always got a burn and the lotion we had then really didn’t protect the skin. I use sunscreen each and everyday! Thanks 😊
I’m 59 and I have thin skin. My biggest issue is skin rips. I’ll bump something and it will peel my skin back. Plus the unexplainable bruises. Aging sucks.
As an RN on a neuro/ortho unit, I care for elderly patients, many of whom develop decubitus ulcers while hospitalized. I’ll be sure to pass on your advice. Thanks.
As a girl I had to have cortisone shots for my severe environmental allergies. I developed a sinkhole in my derriere from the shots, which ceased at age 10. Between that and the port wine stain on my chest, the kids were merciless. The wine stain never changed, but the hole was still there at age 40. At 50 it *finally* disappeared without me doing anything. Thanks for the video. At 65, my veins in my hands are starting to poke through and my skin on my hands & forearms are starting to look like there's a network of dry skin just below the surface. So far, CeraVe diabetic dry skin is keeping it at bay, but I assume 1 day it will fail to work.
My mom was on oral steroids (prednisone) for around 10 years, which is an incredibly long time. Her skin became so frail that it would come off like a glove sometimes. She had surgery and when they went to sit her up after they pulled her by the arm and her skin on the forearm just peeled off. It was truly horrific. For years we were constantly bandaging somewhere, if not multiple places. On another occasion a fall with just a hard bump on her leg caused the damage to go down to her subcutaneous layer. I was doing her wound care and I’ll never forget the day I saw a yellow waxy substance and realizing what that was. It was really hard for her to live that way. 😢
I'm taken prednison for two years now. My skin is thinning rapidly and it's fragile. I use a moisturizer every day. Can I reverse it while taken this medicine. I am 64 year but my skin looks 20 years older.
That's awful Katie. I really truly felt so sad for you having to go through seeing your mum like that. I hope it eased for her to some degree. So sorry she and you had to go through that ❤
I’ve been taking different Asthma prevention for over 20 years and the last couple of years have noticed my skin thinking and wrinkling at a worrying rate. Will these products help me.
I’m 57 and am noticing how much my skin has changed the past couple of years. This video has helped me understand my skin better. I’ve been on prednisone since May 1999 and will likely be on it till I die. In addition, I’ve had a lot of Solu-Medrol, like 125 mg IV push and/or 1,000 mg infusions. I also loved a good tan in my younger years. I was officially diagnosed with Systemic Lupus in May 1999. I’m not sure there’s much I can do for my thin and crepey skin at this point. I will definitely check out the AmLactin. At this point I’m trying to slow the process.
I am I the same boat I am 60 diagnosed with Systemic Lupus at 40. The worst is the hand eczema and itching. In the past dermatologist, recommend that you slather on the corticosteroids and then put tar oil or Vaseline and then tube socks. This has compromised my skin horrifically. Currently I am on Cosintyx
@@lindarogers3827 Please try beef tallow for your skin eczema. It works great and very fast too. It’s extremely moisturizing and will last for hours. ❤
I would pursue these two healing modes in this order (or concurrently, but the first one is much easier and also quicker to find):-- 1] A registered Homeopath ... 2] "Spooky 2" Rife frequencies (setting up and using it is a steep learning curve initially, but "Spooky 2" is by far the best company because they only charge for their high-quality, cutting-edge hardware, then the customer can freely access - via download - all the amazing energetic frequencies, which are updated / added to, roughly every fortnight). BOTH these modalities work equally well for humans and other species :)
Im 35 with genetically thin fragile skin thanks to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I doubt these tips will thicken my skin as my collagen is going to be faulty regardless but I'll be the guinea pig since there is no research on EDS and retinoids etc. The only thing I've found that lowers the amount of chunks I take out of my skin is twice daily moisturising and washing my hands with moisturiser while I'm at home.
Oh my goodness, every point you made in this video is me ...Bingo bingo bingo. The more you spoke, the more I was amazed. I am a bruised mess, been working in garden. I am 70 and still very active. I am very impressed with how you have explained what is happening to me. I was a sun worshipper in 70's and 80's. Thank you.
As an RA patient on biologics I had a few different bouts of skin issues which no doctor could dignose so they kept giving me different lotions & potions so with time my skin not only got worse but my skin started thinning. Ive been to 3 dermatologist, all of them told me, there's nothing I can try to atleast keep the skin from thinning. Im so grateful to you Dr. Dray for giving us so much info that many in office doctors dont give for some reason. Thank you, ill definately try it ❤😊
Stop listening to those doctors. Dermatologists deal with outside skin. You have to find the root from inside. Nutrition , holistic , herbs and supplements will thicken your skin. Examples: Collagen powders, MSM, Vitamin C intake daily. Even Olive Oil taken daily , a table spoon can help skin. And it has a boat load of health benefits. Try herbal infusions and whey protein. Do research to take back your health and stop solely depending on conventional medicine. Research celery juice therapy for health.
I have RA and in menopause, I can recommend Eucerin foot cream with lactic acid for feet and hands! I will say don’t use it too often, it’s a bit strong. But wow what a difference
Dr. Dray is spot on with Amlactin lotion. My dermatologist that I have been seeing for over 20 years told me about this product on my first visit with him and I've used it consistently since. It works! I'm 62 and now when I go to my dermatologist for a yearly mole check, he tells me that he can't believe how healthy and beautiful the skin is on my body. The only thing that I will say in areas where your skin touches skin (like your breasts without a bra) in the summer I use Neutrogena Hydro Boost (Dr Dray recommendation) in that area because it gets a little sensitive, but the remainder of my body gets drenched in Amlactin. Thank you Dr. Dray for all you do for us! ❤
Happy Tuesday! Always appreciate your advise on dealing with aging skin. Recently I ran into a friend from high school and his wife wanted to know how he knew me. She could not believe that we were the same age. She thought I was in my 40s vs turning 60. I get that I a lot thanks to these videos! Thank you for all your good advice!!
I’m so glad that I found you! I’ve been using this for five days, and what a difference! I’m a 70 yr old Floridian who is the poster person for the definition of “sun damage”. Thank you!😊
I've bought Amalactin for years. But only at Costco. So less expensive there. I also use it on my face:) I also combine it with body cream. It works wonders on my lips and feet. Has cut way down on peeling skin. Love this product😊
I’m an older adult, and I absoloutely love Amlactin lotion, especially on my feet! Only problem is, it doesn’t smell very good. It’s supposed to be fragrance free, but it stinks. 😂
Fragrance free isn't the same thing as unscented! For something to be unscented or scent free sometimes that requires more processing or just isn't possible. Fragrance free/no fragrance added means no extra scents added to cover up other scents so you smell the natural smell of the product.
I just realized that I have seen absolutely no more purple marks on my hands in the last year since I started daily use of a large pea size amount of Tretinoin in the backs of my hands and fingers after I finish using the Tretinoin on my face every night. I am going to start using the Tretiinoin on my forearms every night also. I do use daily sunscreen, but I’m also going to reapply more often. Thank you for the video, Dr. Andrea!
Dr. Dray, always appreciate your information. I saw a tutorial where the person used AmLactin lotion so i purchased some. My arms were starting to look kinda old. It's been a year later and they look much better. I only use it on my arms. I took a picture when i started and a month later again. There was an improvement in that short time. I was raised on a farm and the sun was hot so we covered up and wear a hat, which i still do in the sun. You are not supposed to put the lotion on your face. AmLactin will help smooth the skin but it does not help loose or saggy skin. The fact i did not tan as a teenager i have very few spots i believe.
I found that lotion (blue and green version) at Marshalls ... It got my attention cause it had lactic acid.. I've been learning with your videos a lot, well i bought both (they were very cheap like 7 dls) and omg since first time I used my skin looked very smooth .. Love that lotion ❤
I have to give a word of warning about hyaluronic acid. I live in the high desert. Humidity is usually in the low teens, but twice a year we have a month where it can dip into the single digits. Well, I hit the big 50 and decided to start taking care of my skin better. (I know, it's late. But I'm trying.) I bought all of these 'anti-aging' creams. The results were horrific. I'd apply the cream at night and by morning, my skin was visibly more dry and wrinkled. I really tried to give an expensive one a serious try and pushed it for almost a month, but my skin became so dry that it was painful and red. I gave up and went back to my regular, cheap lotion. A year later I was determined to try again. I spent hundreds of dollars for the same result. I came across an article that explained that topical application of hyaluronic acid in arid climates will have a reverse effect. Hyaluronic acid moves moisture from wetter to dryer. If you live in a humid environment, the moisture from the air will move into your face. But if you live in a very dry environment, it'll move from your face to the AIR. That is NOT what we want. Every single product I had bought over the previous two years had hyaluronic acid as an ingredient. I tried to fix it with the dutiful use of a humidifier, but even with a whole house humidifier directly beside my bed, I couldn't get the humidity up high enough to work for me. Finding any kind of moisturizing or anti-aging cream without hyaluronic acid is incredibly difficult. According to the ingredients list, the Amlactin recommended in this good doctor's video does NOT have it. Yes, I've already got it in my Amazon cart. When I realized what was wrong, I reached out to my local community and found a dozen ladies my age who'd had the same problem, but didn't understand why until I spoke up and referred my small town to the article. Cosmetic companies need to advertise if their product is "hyaluronic acid free for dry climates." That would help many of us tremendously. It would also save many of us a LOT of wasted money, skin damage, and a bout of mild depression.
I’m in the high desert as well, so I understand the dry air. All winter I use Eucerin for extra dry skin I think it’s the best so far, although we aren’t experiencing the winter wind yet.
Have you checked your hormone levels lower estrogen can make skin dry - also find an intensive cream for for face & put hydroluronic on top after 15 min…or skip it…I had same issue live in Midwest but house may be in dry side…you can’t just put hydrologic on bare skin you need need good moisturizer vanicream? for dry skin first then wait a bit then use that…I don’t use everyday cuz I don’t always have time to wait & layer w/ sunscreen etc…& don’t use hydrolo if at night
Be warned, AmLactin can cause a lot of side effects, if you purchase some try on a small area first. I tried it, without testing small area first, my skin was on fire, red, sore, itched for days, when i read online, some reactions can be a lot worse than i encountered
The aspirin taking fad prematurely thinned my skin, during my 40's. Hyaluronic orally has helped me a lot. I also take DHEA and human growth hormone in a very small amount.
This is so timely as I was researching this topic yesterday! A derm had me on topical steroids for a year, new derm is tapering me off but my skin is so thin and fragile. Thanks for uploading this!
Topical DHEA can cause HAIR LOSS. I'm a post menopausal woman who took it for 5 months and it caused significant shedding, so don't let anyone tell you it doesn't because I experienced it first hand. Once I figured this out, I stopped it and it took over a year to grow back.
@@dharma__3 There are supplements and foods which prevent the conversion of testosterone into the form that causes oily skin, acne, hair loss, and prostate issues in men. These are Beta Sitosterol , pumpkin seeds, green tea, pygeum, etc.

Am lactin back in the day was prescription only. Then they made it over the counter. Since that happened they changed the formulation and the smell is absolutely horrible! Some people are saying the smells goes away after a while. I recently tried this again as I had loved this product and I was highly disappointed and returned it back to the store. The smell did not go away and I even put a perfumed lotion over it and you could still smell it. AmLactin go back to the regular formulation! My search is on for another lotion that does not smell as I would not recommend this to anyone now. Sorry doctor this is a NO!
How would I fit using Amlactin in my skin care routine? I use Neutrogena and CeraVe twice daily and Retin A at night. Do I use Amlactin in place of the CeraVe?
Thank you for explaining why the skin on my forearms and hands looks so old, as I near 70. I spent years in the garden with my arms and hands exposed. I will try the hyarolonic acid, plus sunscreen combo,as my facial skin appears 20 years younger than my arms and I have followed your advice to protect my face and amped up my diet for collagen production with amazing results. The skin fragility of my arms is alarming, because I am active.
good info. however, do you think Amlactin is a good choice even though it has Alpha Hydroxy acid -which will increase sun sensitivity, thus increasing sun damage overtime and thins the skin even more? Is there any product that is like amlactin without the alpha hydroxy acid?
I am 70 and have been on prednisone to treat PMR. My skin deteriorated to the worst I had ever seen it. Since I weaned myself off prednisone my skin easily bruised and tore open at the slightest scrape. I started on Silicea a silica supplement and collagen. I have had remarkable success with this. My bruises cleared up and I no longer bruise easily. The wounds healed quickly and my skin looks so much better. These results were achieved in a matter of weeks. Really happy with the result. The silicea can be applied topically as well. I had been applying it to my forearms in the sauna for quicker uptake.
@@1962Aero I myself do not, I use lactic and glycolic from Naturium. The % in it could be too high, my facial skin is pretty sensitive. But for the body, which has been in and out of the sun for decades, elbows, knees, heels, etc, it is great.

Tea tree oil, extra virgin coconut oil, oregano, thyme, and raw garlic are good natural anti fungals. Add tea tree oil to body cream/shower gel or buy tea tree soap. The rest of the things I mentioned can be added to food. Coconut oil can be taken internally and used as a body/facial/hand moisturiser. Get her a good probiotic or give her plain natural live yoghurt every day (not fruit yoghurt) to improve the good bacteria in her gut. Cut out sugar and sugar containing foods and drinks. All these things help to control yeast and fungal species. But you have to consistent. Praying for good health and a long long life for your mother and your family.
@s21972012145525 Candida should be treated with Aveeno body wash in a clean washcloth (bleach them & extra rinse cycle them in the washer) & a 50%-50% mixture of Nystatin cream & Triamcinolone Acetonide cream in a very clean, sanitized plastic cup & plastic spoon. The 2 rx creams mixed together is much cheaper than the $100 cream containing the combination of these 2 rx ingredients. Good luck!
That's interesting about hyaluronic acid, because I know there's another UA-cam derm that totally pooh-poohs it. I'm never sure how to apply it because some people say it dehydrates you if you don't put it on moist skin. Anyone know if Dr. Dray has addressed this somewhere? And Amlactin was the solution to some weird razor-related skin issue I got years ago! It gradually exfoliated a layer off so my legs were finally normal again!
Dr Dray, so glad for this topic, before I see a PS, I need to know what is best. As to injected cortisone I got from derms over 30 years ago for cystic acne lesions about my mouth chin, each and every dr. left me with cortisone thinned/damaged for quick calming of lesion. One said it would reverse as you suggest, but this this never ever happened adequately. My chin area has about 7 areas of thinning so as to be depressed/thinned even mottled looking in bad light. Plus one over my cheekbone that now looks like a crescent scar for aging. I deeply regret that I sought derm help rather than let nature takes its time rather than medical risk of thinning/damaging/scarring just to quickly calm a lesion. Now with aging, and the beginning of sagging cheeks means the sagging skin falls into the thinned areas making awful lines like a puppet to my jaw line aging me more. Injected cortisone to the face should be banned for how can that many derms not know how to safely use it. I would spend any amount to fix and have smooth back again. If I understand you suggest HA injection?; one has said fat injection, but the damage is hard to describe, sort of darkened patches of so thinly depressed skin. I feel I just need a single layer of (onion) skin put over those areas like grafting even. So glad you address this topic, I need expert advice.
Dr Dray can you discuss the differences between IPL treatments and PDL treatments? I get these confused and would love to know how they compare. Thank you!
Thankyou for the AmLactin recommendation. I am 63 years old and have had this problem for about 8 years. The AmLactin has helped in rebuilding the thinned skin on the back of my hands.
Amlactin has a lot of ingredients that are not really healthy for your body …. is there anything better to use that doesn’t have a lot of chemicals in it
I wonder if those of African descent have naturally high DHEA and if that explains why ourvskin doesn't thin as quickly as other ethnicities.
It works well. Costco has a good deal on it usually
I always buy it at costco especially if there's a coupon, then I stock up
Dr. Dray, How do you feel about micro needling for creepy skin on the arms from aging and weight loss?
Thanks for your channel and the substantive content.
Same, lactic acid has solved a two decade old riddle for me and I am so grateful for the knowledge from Dr Dray!
Do you wear sunscreen on your face and/or makeup? How do you remove them with only water? Thanks for posting what is working for you!

I come here every morning to listen to your intellectual talk, Dr Dray, and check out the comments of other friends from around the world and I feel so much better. Thank you one more time for taking the time to share your knowledge to the world for free ❤

I love the backed evidence based science from Dr Dray! Definitely top notch free advise for anyone looking to improve skin health ❤ I have seen multiple dermatologists over the years and I have never heard any of them provide this much information as she provides on here ❤we are lucky to have her on here !
I been using Amlactin cream for years. At one time it was only prescription use. It’s a wonderful hand cream.
Yes, AmLactin has a funky smell. I have discovered that the odor can be completely masked by adding the tiniest bit of any other strongly scented lotion. AmLactin is awesome. My husband has had five bouts of melanoma and his dermatologist is working to keep his skin hydrated. Oral DHEA and especially AmLactin have been very helpful.
i like how AmLactin smells, honestly
@@Sky10811 It's changed in the last year or so ago. Now it smells like maple syrup.

So use it!
I get amlactin GIANT bottles any time there’s a coupon at Costco or Bj’s. A BIG savings! Nothing helps callouses or dry skin better!
My dad has had this for years, and he told me when he asked his doctor about it, that there was nothing he could do. He told him it’s just a normal part of getting old.
I know it’s painful and limits a lot of his activities, especially gardening. I’m going to forward this to him.
Thank you!
Same here. My Dr. said, "Too many birthdays." Thanks for that, pal.
Many of these products are snake oil
My dermatologist told me the same thing. I hate it so much.
I’m so glad I watched this. I’m 64, never smoked, no COPD, but I grew up in a time when we coated ourselves in baby oil and fried ourselves in the sun. I now have those white spots on my arms, despite wearing sunscreen. I’m going to try the Amlactin.
Did the lotion help with the white spots? I have them all over the lower half of both of my legs. I haven’t found anything that helps it, yet.
Both my parents have really thin skin and it worries me when I see the bruising and tears. Thank you for this information.
Thanks.
Has the Amlactin helped?
We will keep your family in our prayers. Thank you for this important message.
Wishing you and your sister the best ! Sending lots of love ❤

I’m sorry for your sisters poor sick care. Most drs these days are pretty damn useless.
My dermatologist told me to use amlactin for my dry skin. I’m also type 2, so the dry skin is worse. Good stuff.
So generous with her knowledge ‼️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Agreed 👍
It's better than the alternative, lol!
This stuff works on thinning skin.Give it time .takes a few weeks.twice a day
It's really helped me with those issues!
I have the same thing , and I volunteer at a cat shelter. My arms are awful.
As an RN on a neuro/ortho unit, I care for elderly patients, many of whom develop decubitus ulcers while hospitalized. I’ll be sure to pass on your advice. Thanks.
Thank you for all that you do
Dr. Dray I just want to say that if it wasn’t from you, I would definitely not be wearing sunscreen everyday! Thank you 😊
As a girl I had to have cortisone shots for my severe environmental allergies.
Thanks
Finally! A REAL doctor!

I have been taking it in lower doses for more than 30 yrs now
I'm taken prednison for two years now.
Same with my mother. It's so sad

Please try beef tallow for your skin eczema.

@@1015SaturdayNight did it help thicken your skin?

I’m an older adult, and I absoloutely love Amlactin lotion, especially on my feet! Only problem is, it doesn’t smell very good. It’s supposed to be fragrance free, but it stinks. 😂
It smells like rotten milk.
Fragrance free isn't the same thing as unscented! For something to be unscented or scent free sometimes that requires more processing or just isn't possible. Fragrance free/no fragrance added means no extra scents added to cover up other scents so you smell the natural smell of the product.
Amlactin and dermacil will smooth out the hardest, roughest, driest skin ever!
Agreed, it smells awful, but I still use it. I swear, it didn't used to smell as bad as it does these days. Anyone else notice a change?

There are those that swear by castor oil.
I’m only 32, but the skin on my body is paper thin. I’ve never smoked or been in the sun. I get bruised over any poke. Thank you!

This is so timely as I was researching this topic yesterday! A derm had me on topical steroids for a year, new derm is tapering me off but my skin is so thin and fragile. Thanks for uploading this!
So should it get better after you are done with the topical steroids?
Topical DHEA can cause HAIR LOSS. I'm a post menopausal woman who took it for 5 months and it caused significant shedding, so don't let anyone tell you it doesn't because I experienced it first hand. Once I figured this out, I stopped it and it took over a year to grow back.
what about DHEA supplements does that cause hair loss too?
@@stopwars8642 I'm not sure but it could be a rise in androgens, specifically dht.

I have had good results with Alpha lotion with 12% glycolic AHA. No odor so I like it much better than Amlactin
It is so helpful to have a straightforward lecture addressing these questions. Thank you.
Thank you for mentioning that some people dislike the odor of Am Lactin. I will want to check that before buying it
good info. however, do you think Amlactin is a good choice even though it has Alpha Hydroxy acid -which will increase sun sensitivity, thus increasing sun damage overtime and thins the skin even more?
Do you take silicea daily and what kind do you use? I’m 55 and arms tear from being on prednisone so much. Thanks for any info😀

@@1962Aero I myself do not, I use lactic and glycolic from Naturium. The % in it could be too high, my facial skin is pretty sensitive. But for the body, which has been in and out of the sun for decades, elbows, knees, heels, etc, it is great.
I started using Retin A. How long before I can use Lactic acid or should I avoid it? Thanks for your videos.
Saline and hyaluronic acid fillers!
I thought I traded my face for my hair after using steroids for frontal fibrosing alopecia.
I am so happy you addressed that with such interesting solutions! Thank you so much. 🙏💛
Thank you so much Dr.Dray, much needed information. I had a renal failure as a child since then, 36 years I had 3 transplants and I am on corticosteroids for all this time. I am now on tretinoin because I want to improve the thickness of my skin. I was wondering, can this LED red light help the skin also?
Red light therapy has worked for me. My neck skin has thickened after almost three months of using it consistently 3 to 5 times a week.
My 90 mom was exposed to Candida Auris while hospitalized last month. (It's a treatment resistant fungus tearing through health care facilities. ) She has thin skin. We're hoping she doesn't have this. Thanks Dr Dray for this most important video!! ❤️❤️
I’m praying she doesn’t have that. So scary I can imagine. Sending positive thoughts and prayers her way 🙏❤️
Thank you so much. My family and I appreciate it. ❤️
i would check with her doctor, but maybe try a 3% sulfur based soap when showering? it should be antifungal

Candida should be treated with Aveeno body wash in a clean washcloth (bleach them & extra rinse cycle them in the washer) & a 50%-50% mixture of Nystatin cream & Triamcinolone Acetonide cream in a very clean, sanitized plastic cup & plastic spoon. The 2 rx creams mixed together is much cheaper than the $100 cream containing the combination of these 2 rx ingredients. Good luck!
I am really surprised not to see anything about light therapy on this topic.
I was in Marshall's last week and found the $30 bottle of amlactin for 9.99...I was quite excited 😂❤❤
FYI AmLactin directions specifically state that none of their products are intended for use on the face.
Hi, doc! Hope you have a nice day
You too
Dr Dray can you discuss the differences between IPL treatments and PDL treatments? I get these confused and would love to know how they compare. Thank you!
Thankyou for the AmLactin recommendation. I am 63 years old and have had this problem for about 8 years. The AmLactin has helped in rebuilding the thinned skin on the back of my hands.
Hi Dr Dray so excited to be here happy Tuesday I live for this ❤️
Thanks for watching
Greetings David Shabas hope u r well n Happy Tuesday😀👍💜….
@@whitneybrown4067 happy Tuesday Whitney 👍
Amlactin has a lot of ingredients that are not really healthy for your body …. is there anything better to use that doesn’t have a lot of chemicals in it
Is it okay to use the AmLactin body lotion on the face?
Dr. DRAY You are amazing! Thank you for your knowledge and guidance! Superb!
I wonder if those of African descent have naturally high DHEA and if that explains why ourvskin doesn't thin as quickly as other ethnicities. I am a female and I have a substantial amount DHEA (I was tested) in my late 30s. I have thick skin and a lot of muscle tone. My mom does as well-as does most of the women and men in our family and community.
Since I’ve upped my Vitamin B’s especially B12/ B1/B2 and pantothenic acid..
I have Correct Vit D3 and K2 levels…
My Skin is soo much Better.
I already take 2 Metagenics Glycogenics

Dr Dray: I hope you'll still be doing these videos when you're postmenopausal.😊
What is your opinion on Medical-Grade Skincare products and if they are worth the high price tag? Thank you
Dr.Drayyyyyyy what are you wearing in your lips? Love the color!!!
