DETAILS:
The male driver of the Volkswagon slammed into a street light at the intersection as he was driving eastbound on Hilltop Dr. He got out of the car and ran away to Escuela St. A Good Samaritan witnessed the accident and chased him down, catch ing him. Paramedics responded along with SDPD officers. The male was not injured, and the officers took the suspect into custody for DUI & Hit & Run.
And then there was the MOM! As we approached the scene of the arrest, a woman asked who I was. I replied that I was with the news, and she started in on me, stating that I didn't have her permission to take video and that I needed to go away. I basically told her that I didn't care what she wanted.
She started to hurl insults at me, and I asked her, "If that's the best she's got?" I even had to laugh at one point. The officers told her to back up and stop her harassment, and she could also find herself in handcuffs.

I am grateful that I wasn't in an accident going home from work after a reckless speeding tailgating driver unsafely passed me going 80+ mph into northbound lanes on the 67 south of Johnson Lake Rd and north of Willow Rd on Saturday morning around 1 a.m. That stretch is 1 lane in each direction. I made verbal comments against that reckless driver and possibly used my horn. Slow down everyone who drives on the 67 so people can get to where they are going safely. Stop the illegal lane changes within a car length of drivers in the other lane.

No fire hydrants were harmed in this incident.

Fortunately no one was hurt. It would have been unfortunate and especially if this happened on school day since it is the time when the students begin to arrive and with the help of the teachers they cross the traffic lights at all those corners. I hope this will serve him as an experience and he won't do something like that again. He could have caused a serious accident to someone else.
