I was already very excited for the Thunderbolts, but this episode just got me even more excited! David Harbor and Sebastian Stan were both excellent in this episode, and their chemistry was perfect. Going into this season, I was looking forward to this one the most, and I'm happy to report it lived up to my expectations! 9/10 episode this week.
Just something cool I’d like to share. I service some things at the Flying Bark Animation studios here in Sydney which is one of the teams behind ‘What If’ and they where so friendly and nice to talk to. It’s a really passionate team behind this project and they couldn’t help but be so happy with the response on this series from the viewers!🩵
I was already hyped. I am really happy that we got a story about Red Guardian in his prime. This makes me more excited for Bucky and Alexi's screen time together.
Tony’s parents survived thanks to the aid of Mother Russia’s great soldier, and now he and Winter Soldier are buddies. Even though Bucky is captured and taken back to Russia, they might meet again. Red Guardian is now a member of the Avengers. Honestly, this episode was super fun.
What all good buddy cop style movies have in common ,is what I really liked about the chemistry between these two characters ! Which is you always have a straight man and a comedy relief ! And pairing these two up in that formula was genius to do!
I liked this ep a lot anyway, but the shot at the end with Red Guardian joining the Avengers in the classic shot in front of Grand Central is maybe my favorite shot in the history of what if 🤣❤️
Haha surprise how much I enjoyed David Harbour’s comedic performance against Sebastian Stan’s stoic Winter Soldier. Hope this is alluding to how good Thunderbolts will be.
Though red guardian jumps out of a window it is similar to when steve jumped out of the glass elevator. They both land on their shields to brace for the fall. ( it’s a stretch I know)
Funny how Bucky’s move after they jumped was to copy another “Winter Soldier-esque” characters move when Cable(in Deadpool 2) used his metal arm to slow his decent speed grabbing the side of a building while falling. Interesting how the character similarities had me briefly thinking it WAS a Winter soldier move they were calling back to before remembering it was actually Cable I was thinking of. 🤦♂️🤷♂️
Don’t know why, but I was convinced this episode was going to be a sequel/continuation of last season’s episode with the 80’s Avengers(with a young Peter Quill fighting his dad). It implied at the end of that episode the Winter Soldier was now going rogue/no longer following orders after choosing to NOT follow orders to shoot a young Starlord, so I assumed it was going to be his conclusion after they implied he had more story to tell(Between the same time period, and Lawrence Fishburn’s Goliath returning, plus the episode’s police checkpoint scene being one of the few clips of this season they were previewing a whole year ago made me think they had always planned it that way. Kinda like how they continued Captain Carter’s story from the first season in season 2). I still really enjoyed it, I’m just surprised how convinced I was it was going to be the other. 😕🤷♂️
i cant tell if its intentional or if its just the art style, but bucky and natasha have very similar facial expressions and quirks they've animated into them like, especially with their eyes/eyebrows
Everything was great except for two things, the fact that the Russians recapture Bucky and the other... Oh boy, the implication that everything turns out the same after Tony's parents never die, and here's the important part, Obadiah Stane fucking dies. This means *takes deep breath* no one is sent to kidnap and kidnap Tony since Obadiah ordered it, so he never becomes Iron Man, Which leads him to not stop fabricating weapons, never getting into the energy business and not putting up a tower in New York, so Loki puts his machine on some other tower to bring the Chitauri, and the World Security Council nukes New York along with the Avengers that cannot withstand something like that, like Hawkeye, Cap, Widow and Alexei if it's implied that he's there, also Kate Bishop (but she hasn't made a wide impact yet so doesn't matter) , and so Hydra inside Shield is never found and project insight, due to the invasion and no opposition is put into effect a lot sooner and Hydra kills everyone who stands in their way, with only Hulk, Thor and Captain Marvel, to worry about, because of the Zola Algorithm, people like Peter Parker and Stephen Strange must've been killed due to their potential to pose a threat, and so Thanos comes to earth he wipes the floor with whatever opposition we have here, decimates half of all life and it stays like that forever. Point is, MCU history would have not turned out to be the way it was at the end of the episode
Ok, what I don't understand is this: If Stane died, why would Tony end up in the Avengers? Stane ordered his kidnapping which led Tony to Yinsen, kickstarting his origin. Why would the old Weapons manufacturer Tony Stark end up anywhere near being a person inclined to save the World? The most I can see is him becoming a Weapons dealer to S.H.I.E.L.D. But him becoming Iron Man makes no sense.
Yeah Tony and Natasha ending up as members of the Avengers really doesn't make that much sense. I mean Natasha is more believable, its likely the Red Room would've swapped in another Russian spy in Alexei's place, but given Alexei joining S.H.I.E.L.D. at the end of the episode, he would have likely spilled the beans to S.H.I.E.L.D. about that undercover mission, leading to Melina being arrested and Natasha and Yelena being put into child protective services. But yeah, Tony becoming Iron Man doesn't make much sense at all
There’s times where Harbour’s in-between Russian/American accent sounds a lot like Mr. Incredible. I agree with the guys, he could do some amazing voice acting work
Oh snap the bright bridges back. Red guardian falls into his shield out of a glass window like Steve did in cap 2 the winter soldier all though Steve’s was in an elevator

All the first three episodes has something in common, friendship.
That one was truly the Christmas episode. Red Guardian is basically Super Santa, here. David Harbour just killed it ! Love the Die Hard winks (which is also one of the best Christmas movies in history) at the end.
I love the small moments... particularly when they jump out of the hotel window. Alexi jumps far and free, and Bucky snatches him back for a more direct descent. Alexi's legs react accordingly (and comically).
I think a lot of the show is Laura Karpman's music. She'll take any excuse to use Ant-Man's theme. I don't know if she recreated the Winter Soldier scream-theme or if it's just a sound file owned by Marvel but that really sold the December 16, 1991 stuff.
This episode was 9.5/10 for me, it's the best episode in S3 so far. Loved seeing Red Guardian in his Prime making friends with Bucky and joining The Avengers. Im surprised Tony still became Iron Man.
def my favorite of the three so far!! i wonder if they recorded the audio while filming thunderbolts they just seemed to be really in sync but thats just seb and davids talent
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” would be totally different if the Red Guardian was around. Imagine if he’s jealous of Steve and Bucky’s friendship.
Yeah, guys, I'd have to say, Agatha, Kingo and Howard is my favorite ep so far. I love Bucky and Alexei, but it started slow as Greg said. So I'll rewatch for those jewel moment Greg mentoned. Happy Holidays, guys. 👍
i want this to be main timeline lmao i would love to see him and cap searching for bucky together and sharing friendship stories or him being the father figure he shoulda been to widow i want more alexei in general but this timeline is so cool imo
What if..:we took a bunch of pop culture references and put them in a blender? Now the fun begins…the various youtubers will fall over each other to identify the references with a ‘i get all references all the time’ facade.
@ no im not a stripper. I dont go to parties to be fun. I go to parties to have fun. Its a shame you proles just parrot cliches instead of coming up with something original that is thought through and makes sense.
I am completely on the other side of the fence with season 3 so far, with season 2 it was mostly a minor change that resulted in the end product. But with season 3 they are really going for the stretch especially with this episode, from my memory the Red Room had nothing to do with the super soldier serum that Bucky killed Howard Stark for, wasn't that just Hydra. So why is the Red Room asking for Bucky to be taken out of the ice to complete this mission now, he is Hydra's property, ergo the Red Guardian would never had any clue about this mission and be involved with stopping Bucky. Also by the end of the episode Alexei was really getting on my nerves, he was way more over the top than what we have already seen from him in the MCU, maybe this season just isn't resonating with me, I really hope this changes for me because I really liked season 2. This episode to me just felt like they were trying to get people more excited for Thunderbolts*, I was already excited for Thunderbolts* and this episode doesn't sway me either way.
This episode really gave me a whole new adoration for David Harbour, his voicework was amazing, but at the same time it really made me sad how much they fumbled his Hellboy.... if only that movie was actually well written, Harbour could not only be the perfect successor of Perlman's Hellboy but maybe even a slight upgrade by making him more comic accurate... real shame

On his character's way to save RDJ's parents, at customs, David Harbour is an american dude playing a russian dude disguised as an american dude.
😂🤣💛🥂
its like he is the dude playing the dude disguised as another due
Red Guardian doing an American accent is so weird to me! I've never heard it so it's bizarre 😂
Comrade
David Harbour is the new animated RDJ
Finally, i always wanted to see Red Guardian in his prime😭🔥
I was already very excited for the Thunderbolts, but this episode just got me even more excited! David Harbor and Sebastian Stan were both excellent in this episode, and their chemistry was perfect. It really is the best format for the next evolution of the comic book experience. I'm still hoping this isn't actually the last season! ❤✌️🔥
I love red guardian playing Tetris at the airport trying to stop the winter soilder
Did this get you any more HYPE for Thunderbolts*??
I am already hyped for every single novie
Yes
I was already hyped. I am really happy that we got a story about Red Guardian in his prime. This makes me more excited for Bucky and Alexi's screen time together.
thunderbolts I heard it's a good solid action movie
No 🤣 But maybe that's because I've lowered my hopes and expectations for the films of the MCU 🤷♂️
Makes me wonder how he and Natasha would get along
What all good buddy cop style movies have in common ,is what I really liked about the chemistry between these two characters ! Which is you always have a straight man and a comedy relief ! And pairing these two up in that formula was genius to do!
It’s sooo damn good, could watch an entire movie of the two 🎉
BEST EPISODE OF S3 SO FAR,ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!
This is getting me hyped for thunderbolts
I liked this ep a lot anyway, but the shot at the end with Red Guardian joining the Avengers in the classic shot in front of Grand Central is maybe my favorite shot in the history of what if 🤣❤️
Winter Soldier and Red Guardian are going for a walk.
A very enthusiastic walk.
Love the chemistry of Bucky and Alexi sad Bucky sacrifice himself and got recaptured by dreykov
El lado positivo es que como Alexei ahora es un vengador y ya sabe sobre Bucky, ayudará al Cap a encontrarlo y que recuerde quien era de nuevo 😊
Haha surprise how much I enjoyed David Harbour’s comedic performance against Sebastian Stan’s stoic Winter Soldier. Hope this is alluding to how good Thunderbolts will be.
thunderbolts is the dark-horse of Comic book movies next year!
Loving everybody including the watcher reaction of not making that cliff
I loved the dynamics between alexie and bucky, it has me excited for their banter in Thunderbolts*
My favorite one so far! Red Guardian is fantastic especially thanks to David Harbour😂

I’m 99% this is what we’ll see in Thunderbolts* and I’m all for it.
Hands down one of the best episodes in all 3 seasons combined... Maybe the best episode this far...
Not hard to be
@@EphOphhaha yea if this is then thats saying something…
This episode is so great to watch BEFORE THUNDERBOLTS
Red guardian has joined the avengers
i cant tell if its intentional or if its just the art style, but bucky and natasha have very similar facial expressions and quirks they've animated into them like, especially with their eyes/eyebrows
Best episode yet

Maybe the real Wenwu kidnapped him
How is Natasha there? Did I miss something and this is supposed to be after their deep cover family thing?
@@reno9821 there are way too many factors to explain how we ended up with the OG avengers in the same setting.
@@reno9821 Natasha was still kidnapped by the Red Room. Not raised by alexie in a pretend family. That is the only difference.

This show is really a celebration of Marvel Studios and the entertainment industry .
My fav episode yet of this season for sure! XD

When it comes to the Red Room, its scams, shams and oh damns.
haven't heard "fartknocker" in AGES lmfao 11/10 episode
Workers of the worlds unite. Red Guardian is a comrade ✊
I love this episode ❤ merry Christmas and happy new years hope you have a great one and thank you for all the great content this year🎉
Loved the friendship between Red Guardian and Winter Fox ❤ 🦊
WE ARE HERE FOR ANOTHER ONE!
They brought Jeff bridges back. I feel this is their strongest episode so far.
Was wondering who that was was lol. Totally forgot he was in the 1st iron man.
sadly it wasn't Jeff Bridges that voices Iron Monger here, but the guy did a pretty good job
@ meant the character obidia right?
I love the small moments... particularly when they jump out of the hotel window. Alexi jumps far and free, and Bucky snatches him back for a more direct descent. Alexi's legs react accordingly (and comically).
Red guardian, who knew he'll be a really cool character lol
now i'm excited on their interaction on thurnerbolts
This episode solidified Red Guardian as my favorite hero
It's cool that you guys posted this at 11:30 PM late at night, and I have no idea why I'm still awake
The rook I think is obada Stane from iron man
Yes!! Give me more Winter Soldier-Red Gaurdian team up with Thelma and Louise references and less Bollywood dance sequences. Loved this episode!!!
I think a lot of the show is Laura Karpman's music. She'll take any excuse to use Ant-Man's theme. I don't know if she recreated the Winter Soldier scream-theme or if it's just a sound file owned by Marvel but that really sold the December 16, 1991 stuff.
i never thought a weird character like red guardian would be one of my favorite MCU characters but here we are.
Buffoons love buffoonery
Red Guardian Coca Cola❤️
Captain America Pepsi💙
"Eez Ameri-Can buddy cop show, vyes? Red Guardian strong like US media pun!"
I love it so much. Why didn't anyone tell me this show was so fun?
Coy casually cussing at the end 😂❤
Appreciate you guys covering every episode averyday
This episode was 9.5/10 for me, it's the best episode in S3 so far. Loved seeing Red Guardian in his Prime making friends with Bucky and joining The Avengers.
Im surprised Tony still became Iron Man.
All I hear from the sheriff girl is Astrid from How To Train Your Dragon that's all I can see whenever She talks 😂😂😂
Red Guardian doing an American accent is so weird to me! I've never heard it so it's bizarre 😂
def my favorite of the three so far!! i wonder if they recorded the audio while filming thunderbolts they just seemed to be really in sync but thats just seb and davids talent
I would have preferred this over the Falcon and Winter Soldier show.
I really like this episode. I thought this was the best episode of a season for you right now
Merry Christmas everyone and this episode was great 👌
This one was so good ❤🎉
Favorite episode so far from season 3
They bitter give us this as an lego miniature
BEST episode yet,I ABSOLUTELY loved it,the only one I’m not exited for is the Howard the duck one tmrw, and lol the others seem dope
Reaction starts from 2:23 if anyone wants to get to that sooner
What’s funnier about the Coney Island reference Is that if you’re from Brooklyn, you know there are lots of Russians in Coney Island.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” would be totally different if the Red Guardian was around.
Imagine if he’s jealous of Steve and Bucky’s friendship.

I loved all three, although Agatha Goes To Hollywood (as a former professional dancer)i unquestionably my favorite. of them all...
I’m going to need a throwback 80s avengers trilogy centered around the vibe of this and last season’s Peter quill episode
RED GUARDIAN STOLE THE EPISODE, PERIOD 😂CONEY ISLAND ROCKS!!
The Batman references are hilarious
coy locking in crazy after the laughs
Great power scaling in this episode . Red Guardian and Winter Soldier are still immensely stronger than Bill Foster in Goliath mode.
I thought they were gonna kiss, i wanna see them go on full romance
Really don’t want what of to end . This has been so special . Xmen 97 parts 2 is gonna tear the roof off
I like the first 3 episodes about as much as each other for different reasons.
If Bucky is this badass in Thunderbolts, it'll be ok. Good hype content.
I believe maybe you have to have a grasp on how Marvel Studios likes to prime the audience to truly understand their intentions with this show.
Awesome commentary 😊
KOLE mentioned the Tetris history, you two should react to the movie they made about Tetris with actor Taron Egerton!
Red Guardian is my Everything
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤
Another stretch but Bucky tells red guardian come on like Steve told Bucky after tossing those guys over the stair railing
Loved this episode!!

After watching this i really want to see David Harbor play the tick
Merry Christmas Eve y’all
I really hope their chemistry translates to the Thunderbolts* movie
great ep. !! love alexi's ending. not so much for bucky tho.. posting this before watching. hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did.
Love that they went with bill foster to be giant man
