      No problem! Avoid descale, can overheat the boiler. If already descale maybe open it up, clean the 3 probes and put it back

    Hello!! This video is VERY helpful! I have it saved as a reference point for future. I noticed when you unplugged your Breville and ran that part to check all the boilers yours said H HH. Mine says H HL. Any chance you know what the difference is? I have tried researching and come up short of answers. Thanks so much!

    • @djtaylorutube
      @djtaylorutube 5 місяців тому

      Are you still struggling with this? HHL would be very odd but HLH is feasible. In order, those are the states of the probes that sense water. The second two relating to the short sensor in the steam boiler and then the long sensor. For you to have HL, you would need water covering the high level and no water at the bottom of the boiler, which doesn't make sense unless the wire or connection has failed. (That's the red wire on the right hand side going to the probe connection.) However if you have LH then that means that there's water in the bottom of the boiler, covering the long probe but not far enough in the boiler to cover the upper probe.
      When you have HLH, because there's no water in the boiler, it won't steam and opening the steam valve just gives three beeps. However, if it's a fill issue, you can do a self test by turning off at the wall, presing the manual and exit button and turn on at the wall. Then press the power on button and the machine will go through several numbers testing systems. I'm yet to find out what these are but the first test is the brew boiler fill, then *something* then 3 is the steam boiler fill pump. After repeating this a couple or three times, I can get mine to fill enough to get to the magical HHH and then it steams but for some reason, even though the probes detect HLH when the water level drops, it's not triggering the pump again as it did. This has to be a software issue since the probes report correctly and the pump works.

    Long time BES920 owner (on my 3rd) and all 3 have what I call the 'post nasal drip syndrome' whereby the hot water outlet (not the steam wand) drips / leaks during shot extraction, especially under high(er) pressure (~ 9+ bar) I finally begged a VP at Breville to send me the hot water valve (actually the 'needle valve') which in the end, they were so kind as to let me purchase one for $30.00 USD (Part # SP0014213) After replacing it the PNDS stopped....for a few months, only to return like clock work. I have surmised the issue to be with the o-rings themselves and not the actual valve component. I basically need $.02 parts to fix a $30.00 issue on a $1,300.00 machine. Any idea where I could obtain replacement o-rings for the SP0014213 needle valves?

    • @caffeinefix2751
      @caffeinefix2751  2 місяці тому

      Hey Jeffrey! I wasn't aware of the oring issue, frankly never changed a needle valve or disassembled one in my 4 years of experience but I am aware of the syndrome you refer to. This will sound silly but it may happen when the hot water tap is ever so slightly turned upwards / on. An inadvertent slayer mod of sorts haha! Close it gently and it may stop the drip. If not (and I've had a couple machines that still dripped after closing the knob) then you can actually put some force and turn the knob more closed/clockwise, you'll feel it tighten like a screw, do this for a tiny amount at a time and you'll hopefully see an end to the PNDS!

      @@caffeinefix2751 Thank you for the fast response! Oh my friend, I do wish the 'check the simple things first' worked however I am sad to say no luck. I've tried that many, many times (mostly out of boredom) and played with the knob itself as well, though after repeated attempts and tinkering, what really "fixes" it is a full needle valve replacement. That said, the last time I dug into it I used the new inner core (with the new o-rings) on the existing valve body and it worked as expected so I deduced it to be the o-rings. I have a digital caliper and can easily measure the diameter however the thickness and inner diameter is harder, and I don't know where to buy a few without having to buy a bag of 1,000! :)

      @@caffeinefix2751 I found a place online and ordered some replacement o-rings for the needle valve - I'll reply back once they arrive and I have swapped the valve out. Also, I am curious, when I set the temp on the machine at say 200F (assuming that is the 'Coffee Boiler' temp, should the grouphead temp match that, and be 200F? I am seeing the group be about ~4d F lower than the set temp. Unsure how accurate the temp probes are but assume they are indeed accurate - I have pretty soft water and descale on schedule but is it possible the grouped probe has scaling? Easy to check?

When I do it like you, mine display is without light and show something, like C, second thime 3 or 8, (not remember), and when pressing other buttons not react... On power buton return to normal. Is that some other combination for that menu or what?

    You mentioned not to use the machines descaling feature. How do you manually descale this machine?

    • @caffeinefix2751
      @caffeinefix2751  2 роки тому +1

      You have two options:
      1: manually descale the boiler(s) by opening the machine, draining boilers, filling boilers from the top with solution, waiting an hour, then draining and flushing.
      2- running the descale cycle (being careful with it) and stopping it halfway (right after the part where the boilers fill with descale solution) and then doing the draining and flushing yourself. You'll still need to remove the top and take out the water level probes and scrubbing them with steel wool. Them put everything back together and boot it back up, it should refill the boilers with fresh water now

      I did a few backflush cleanings with Cafiza over the course of a few days.
      And I stopped adding minerals to the reverse osmosis water I use.
      I’d gotten a replacement 3 way solenoid but by the time it got here all issues seemed to have resolved.
      I also had buzzing coming from the solenoid that resolved.
      Good luck

    Hey there. I routinely make 4 double shots back to back every morning. Then I do a back flush using the single basket with gray rubber cover. I manually press and hold the double shot brew button for 20 sec. Then repeat another 2-3 times. That makes the coffee grinds vanish from the top of the gray rubber plate. Does the shots pulled counter, count the 4 shots and the 3-4 back flushing cycles as a total of shots pulled per day of 7-8 shots?

    • @caffeinefix2751
      @caffeinefix2751  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Ahsan, yes they will all be counted. Every shot over 7 seconds is counted as a shot on the counter. If you don't want it to be counted, you can run the cleaning cycle! The cleaning cycle isn't counted as shots

      Solenoid issues don't usually result in error codes. Sounds like a bad solenoid valve. Blocked those 2 holes or just bad valve. Former more likely

      8 is common (flow meter failure). 10 and 11 are serious. Your machine seems to be overheating (both coffee boiler and steam boiler). Maybe due to a steam leak causing a short circuit in the TRIAC motherboard located under the top lid.
