I just destroyed one of these rings with a $50 tool from Amazon, but a few bucks worth of hose and clamps with your technique worked perfectly. Saved my ass, thanks!
This is gold dude, thanks. Can a bad seal sounds like the engine ticking? The sound is louder with the hood closed. It's a VW 1.8 tsi. The engine runs great and has power. No codes thrown.
the ticking noise most likely coming from the high pressure pump and also the GDI injector which is normal. A bad seal wouldn't make the ticking noise louder hope this helps
Whats up Bro, Im having rough idling in my 16 camaro ss no codes yet but im sure one day it will trip a code , I have heard all inyectors are different for each cylinder(low, nominal and high flow) from your technical experience replacing all 8 will the problem be gone ? Or every 30K miles I will be replacing injectors ?
The All GDI engines have issues with carbon build up on intake valve I think I would Look into that first before replacing injectors. About the injector question I believe they are all the same I could look into that more What size engine do you have?
@@fsteddie98 yeah my 18 silverado has fuel when I did my oil change, what should I look for since I have no codes, a bit of rough idle but she starts normal everytime.
Did u have any work done Recently it could be fuel leak at one of the high pressure fuel rail pipe connections that was incorrectly installed during service of another engine component that required the fuel system to be opened, such as fuel rails, fuel injectors, high pressure fuel pump, etc.
The truck was setting a cold start misfire on cylinger 4. These newer GM truck with GDI eng have issues I done a hand full. I always rec to replace all but due to cost customer most of the time only replace the one
All injector on each bank come out even though ur just replacing one. When that happens its best to replace all injector seals and i waa just showing how i go about doing it with no tools. Hope that answers ur question
fsteddie98 thank you So much for a reply I have an issue with my truck I have a 16 Silverado, the issue is when the truck it’s cold black smoke coming out from the exhaust and I don’t have any check engine lights no misfire nothing so one of my friends told me that maybe one or more injectors are leaking
@@youzen8606 I heard of other technicians not replacing all injectors seals and never having issues to each his own guess. Just keep that in the back of ur head in case u have issues in the Future
Meh just replace the one & lube up the rest of’em with some wd40, yes replace the umbrella seals & call it a day. I never replace the seals never had any problems
All the ones I've taken out the other seals were brittle, torn, or barely hanging on. Never got lucky with decent seals on other ones. Just always replaced them so nothing would come back.
best "how to" I've seen on seal replacement!

Awesome man. I am very happy I found your video. I love how you improvised instead of buying special tools. You made my day! Thank you!!
I'm convinced you're a genius.
Amazing video; no expensive specialty tools needed; which you cant find anyway; thanks for this procedure !!!!!!
Thanks man! I couldnt find that tool in my home town. I was going to have to order it
Dude thats awesome, I was about to use tape rolled tightly around it first, but im going to try this instead. Wish me luck!
He'll yeah brother. Thanks
AWESOME VIDEO!! STRAIGHT TO THE POINT :)
Going to try this with the injectors on my 09 Traverse
Thanks man. Just used process on Subaru WRX FA20DIT.
How did it work? Did it seal?
Thanks man great idea just came across this bullshit now
Great tip I'll try that when I redo my RS3 injectors 👍
Nice mann I had no idea they needed all that finessin Glad I came across your video. How bad would a fuel leak be under that pressure?
I did this and the seal still seamed loose and was moving around. Are they supposed to have some play?
What’s the 2 hose sizes did you use? I’m trying to do this since the tool I bought doesn’t work on my Cadillac xt5 😑

2014 lr4 land rover... gonna try this!
Thanks good job
Good ideia brother 🙏
Thank you for this! I'm gonna try this on an Audi and let you know
Sounds good thanks
Great idea
I like it, I'm sure it would be impossible to try to buy all of the special injector seal tools. How many different diameter O-rings does GM use?
Not to sure but Imagine quite a few

Solid, love it!
Do you lube the seals with oil before installing in the head
If I'm not mistaken GM doesn't want you to lube but other car brands do
@@fsteddie98 that's what I remembered
What is the part number for the replacement injectors and the flow rate?
Does the new injector come with seals already installed?
Yes they do
can bad seals cause fuel mixing with oil?
Not a bad seal. A bad injector can. also a bad high pressure pump can too

Would a bad seal cause bad gas smell?
What kind of vehicle year make Model?

Hey man I have a question so what was the problem with the truck Why are you changing the seals?

i replaced 1 injector but did not replace seals on other 3, is that ok?? thanks...
Did the other injector pop out with the rail? Or stayed in the head? I heard of ppl not doing all with no issues..
