The special clamp tool costs close to $300, not something you want to buy if you don't have a shop. I just did these on my SRX and the only hard part was getting the rails out from the impossible space GM put them in. I did use those special tools that you turn to get the injectors loose from the engine. As far as the metal clamps are concerned, I will give them a name and hopefully that will help you to understand how the injectors can be easily removed/replaced. The name I will give them is Twist-lock-clamps. They have a larger flange on one end, imagine that end is fixed and attached to the rail. Now, with channel locks, rotate the entire clip, trying to keep that end fixed, once you get the smaller flange end over the little tab that holds it, the entire clip will rotate 90 degrees and allow you to pull the injector out. The injector will come out with the locking tab attached, you must remove it to reuse on new injector. Some injectors will be notched to show where this locking tab goes, but some will not, so pay attention to where they go on the injector. The clamp will now rattle around loosely on the rail until you are ready to put in a new injector, which has to already have the lock ring on it. Once you have injector installed with lock ring and turned the proper way, once again rotate the clip with channel locks until you hear it click. You should try to make the clip click on the main rail body before you worry about the lock ring properly aligning, though you have to make sure it is very close. Once the main clip clicks, then if the lock ring is not captured properly, I use a screwdriver and tap it into place. Couple notes - I would never go this far into this engine and not put new injectors in, too labor intensive, so I would not want to flush, clean or replace o-rings or anything like that, only new replacement. On some engines, injectors are very accessible, so you can do all that, but not this engine. Secondly, I say use channel locks, I found this to be the best tool (I think I used an 8") set at the second to last largest setting, this provided a perfect angle and the way it grabbed the clip allowed the small flange to undo easier. If these notes don't make any sense, just get started and follow the steps and they will.

I would like to know why you have to replace the metal fuel feed line. Some of those lines cost hundreds of dollars on some vehicles.

Little late but found that starting with installing bank 1 in first is easier then bank 2
What u did to get it in the easiest and quickest was lining up the fuel injectors with the hole and lifting up the middle on either with your fingers or a screw driver and same thing for the other side.
Reason why it’s so difficult is because there’s a little lip on the middle injector hole so it’s really just lift a little so it passes that little lip and then push a bit on the injector itself and then the rest should line up if not same thing give it a little push with a screwdriver
Putting that middle one first makes the job so much easier but before me figuring that out it took me so long now I can get it done in under an hour or and hour 30

How the hell do you get the rails out? The clips bind on the casting on the intake manifold.
