Yuma AZ 2015 Gmc denali Xl Yukon Replacing all 8 injectors Valve cover gaskets Fuel service All done at the gm dealer $3,000 I used your video at the dealership and mechanics said THIS GUY KNOWS HIS SHIT!!!!! They legitimately all searched your video and saved it. Thank you!!!!
Excellent video. Thank you for making this. I just replaced my injectors, and I have some insights to add. First, before you remove the valve cover bolt that holds the fuel line to the head, you must remove the oil filler cap and pull up on the plastic cover over the coils and valve cover. This gives you easier access to the bolt. Second, there are four “Christmas trees” holding the wiring harness to the back of the intake manifold, and they are stubborn. Just be patient and use a tool such as the one he uses in the video. Third and most importantly, a lot of dirt and debris can collect around the injectors, so before you undo the fuel lines and remove the injectors, cover your intake ports, breathers, throttle body opening, etc, and then use a blower nozzle to blow air around the injectors. A lot of dust and sand flew out when I did this. Then remove the fuel lines and cap them. Pry up the injectors just a little bit, and blow around them one more time. This should remove any debris that might fall into your combustion chambers. At that point, you can safely remove your injectors. One last thing: the first thing to do in this job is to pull the fuel pump fuse and run the motor until it dies. This depressurizes the fuel system.
You’re a life saver. Dealership quoted me at $2800 to change 1 fuel injector, $3300 for all 8. Found a company going out of business selling a set of 8 for $109. Replaced all 8 and no more misfire/ cold start rough idle code. Thank you for your step by step.
@@blake102989 yeah they said it would take them 17 hours, have to keep the truck overnight and everything. Took me 2 hours using hand tools and a chair to stand on (trucks lifted) in my driveway.. alone. I even changed all the gaskets on the way back out just for good measure. Total cost was around $200 to change all 8 (got lucky with the price tbh). But even if I had to pay $500 for all 8 injectors it would have been a bargain compared to what they were asking.

My L86 6.2L 2017 Denali has 250,788 miles on the original injectors, before getting my 1st misfire in #7 cyl. With that being said I use 11 oz, of Lucas Upper cylinder lubricant and injector cleaner every 2nd or third gas tank fill up. I also still have AFM working almost like new. Due to using new Royal Purple Oil every 4500 miles and a good Oil filter which AFM survives by. Chris is the man for teaching DIYers what must be done to get us moving forward smoothly again. I'm now expecting a fuel injector seal leak after checking for a collaped lifter that was still moving the rocker arms. Thanks Chris
that part at 8:48 where the rail seems to hop up, making it easier for the mechanic to loosen and pull the rail is pure sorcery. Still waiting for mine to self-adjust ..
Chris, thanks for doing this video! I just replaced all my injectors on my 2017 Tahoe and doing it myself saved me a lot of money. I was a strait forward repair if you follow this video and my Tahoe runs great now. I suggest to others that are reading this comment to make sure you use INCH pounds not FOOT pounds for the manifold bolts. Chris clearly says this in the video but could easily overlooked if you don't listen closely. Thanks again Chris!
@@timothysteadham331 I used genuine GM injectors. I removed an injector and then used the number printed on the injector to match the new ones. I paid more but I knew they were the exact parts.
Took four and half hours. I cannot thank you enough for this tutorial. I have a 4.3 liter engine so it was not as bad reaching to the back bolts. Those connectors on the other hand, I think I sprained both index finger and thumb on each hand trying to et those off! Thanks again, runs sooo much better.
Very straight forward instruction. My injector rail was so stuck it took an 2500# engine lift to free it. (2014, 5.3, 87k miles) P050d and p300 codes. No ticking but rough idle.
Chris, Best video bar none! I was about to replace the injectors on my 14 GMC Sierra and caught that you stated that the fuel pipes need to be replaced. Picking mine up tomorrow. The feed pipe part # that you have listed has changed from 12677002 to 12377004 per my GM Dealership. I had already ordered the injectors (same as you suggested) and now should be good to go. Many of the GM forums do not know about your video so I will be sharing it there as many people do not have a solid resource like yours. Thanks for putting that quality video out and sharing your knowledge and process. I did subscribe and will watch for future videos from you. Thanks Again!
Thanks for sharing this,my sierra 2014 5.3L starting to give me P0301 and P050D...swapped coil from cyl 1& 3 with still P0301.swapped spark plug wire 1&3 and still P0301.Will have to swapped spark plug 1&3 to see if i still have P0301.Looks like its gonna be injector...I am starting to hate my garbage truck, oil pump blows at 90.000KM and now that. Thanks again.
Helpfull video! I had the P050D code. I followed ur example and was able to knock out all 8 injectors in just over 3 hrs. My truck took about 5 times cranking the key to get going but now sounds and run like a champ. The code never came up anymore. I need to get used to adding fuel system cleaner in gas tank to hopefully avoid dirty injectors.
Great video, thanks! I'm getting the P0301 and P0300 codes, so I immediately replaced the #1 plug and swapped the #1 & #3 coils to ensure coils and cables are fine (seemed to work). After clearing the code and running it, it showed me the P0300 code along with a cold start code. I'm not seeing #1 misfires on the live data, and the #2 cylinder is misfiring continuously while some of the others are misfiring occasionally, such as #7 (Still need to change the remaining 6 plugs tomorrow morning). I changed the #2 spark plug and coil, and I checked that I'm getting power to the plug with another test, though I may check the plug again to be sure. Before I go further, the 2018 Tahoe was running fine up to this point and on the way to the gas station, the check engine light came on and stayed on while I felt the power go away and the nightmare begin. This to me seems like a sudden failure of something, so I thought maybe the #2 fuel injector is bad since I already replaced the #1 and #2 plugs & cables with the #2 coil, leaving the fuel injuector (am I missing something?). Looking at the live data on the car scanner tool (iphone app), all other parameters seemed reasonable with a reading with no extreme values indicating a short or something, except for the engine oil pressure sensor that is reading 0 psi...I then read that having low oil pressure can throw the P0300 code, so I'm now thinking it may have to do with that, because here's the other part. I replaced all 8 fuel injectors by watching your video, and it was very straight forward! (I couldn't get the christmas tree on the back of the intake manifold as it was hard to reach and I heard it fall down...Is that a problem to have the harness loose back there?). That didn't fix the problem for me and #2 still misfires with the ocassional ones from #7, with lots of white smoke from the exhaust. The strange thing I'm also noticing is that the live data is showing #2 continously misfiring while the history counter is showing #1 adding up very fast while the #2 history shows 0 (I'm now thinking there may be something wrong with the Car Scanner App and will considering borrowing one from Orielly to confirm). I would apprieciate any help or tips you can provide.
I did this on Saturday. Man, the electrical connections were so hard to get off. Just left the harness at the back connected and replaced the injectors in the engine bay LOL. Truck took 5 cranks to start back up but it’s running great now. Thanks a lot for this video. 👍👍👍👍👍 Merry Christmas
Thank you for the in-depth video! Any tips on getting the bolts out of the fuel rail? I bent the passenger side rail ever so slightly, and had to order a new one. Thank you for any help!
Awesome video Chris, now I feel very comfortable with doing this project. I am confused on what injectors I need to get, some I am looking at are "high flow" some are "low flow" my truck is a 17' 6.2L so I am not sure what I'm looking for specifically. Help? Will the injectors you have listed work fine for my truck? (I can do the work but sometimes getting the right part stresses me out!)
Chris, terrific video! I think this is my next step. I currently have a 2017 Yukon XL Denali 109K miles, 6.2L V8 Bought it a few months ago and I've had P050D "cold start rough idle" that is very consistent and sometimes P0301 comes up. Initially it was P0300, but after changing plugs and wires (I only use OEM) it's only P0301 and shows up occasionally. I ended up replacing the ignition coil on cylinder 1 and used some fuel injection cleaner too. That seemed to help a bit, but the codes keep coming back off and on. I switched plugs from different cylinders to see if I had a bad plug, but that doesn't seem to be the issue. This leads me to thinking that the fuel injectors are going bad. Everything I've read said fuel injectors last 50K-100K miles and with mine at 109K they likely haven't been replaced is my guess. When I hook up my scanner to check for misfires, I'll occasionally get random cylinders that have 3-5 misfires on a short trip (20-30 minutes) -- which leads me to believe all fuel injections are likely going bad. Thoughts?

I have a 2016 Sierra 5.3. The dealer said injectors 1,3 and 8 were bad, but best to replace all of them. That I agree with. Fault codes are Po50D and P0300. GM Tech-link says I have three different injectors installed, low flow, normal flow, and high flow. I read on GM tech-link, that if the injector order were mixed up, the normal flow injector could be installed for all 8 injectors, but you could have fuel trim and emission problems. GM also recommends all the hard fuel injector line to be replaced to prevent fuel leakage, since the high-pressure fuel is about 3000 PSI Does it really make a difference? This was in December 2020. In March 2021 when it warmed up the fault codes cleared on their own. What do you think?
Glad it helped! If you need help understanding the drop, I made a post explaining the P050D. www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/224984-p050d-fuel-injector-drop-explained/ Thanks again for watching!
@@robhillis2231 No, There is no P0D05 code. The code is a P050D code. That doesn't mean the number 5 injector is bad. That means you have a cold start rough idle and normally that's due to the fuel injectors being clogged. They do come preinstalled from GM. The rubber seal is just a dust gasket. You will need to do an injector balance test to find out which injector/injectors are bad.
I just replaced the injectors on my 6.2 and also replaced both of those fuel lines. After replacing, the truck ran fine but shortly after started smelling of fuel, a ticking noise from the passenger side and I’m getting code p0174 and also a cylinder 6 misfire now. I pulled everything apart, rechecked the torque on the fuel lines, and even turned the key to the on position and see no fuel leaking. Since it didn’t leave with the key in the on position, I’m assuming the o ring from the rail to the injector is good. Where else could the fuel be leaking if nothing was leaking with the key in the on position? Could it be the seals at the head somehow? I’m confused how that could leak upwards and make such a strong smell of fuel.. Thanks for the video by the way
With the intake off and access to all the injectors. Disconnect the ignition coils and have someone start the engine will the intake is off. This will build the pressure on the fuel lines and help you find the leak. Let me know if you find the issue. I am interested now! lol Sorry for the long delay in response. I have been out of the country.
Great video! i feel pretty confident that this will correct my issue, however I am not confident that the parts linked in the video are the right ones for my 2016 Sierra 4WD 5.3L. I am getting a message that says some of the parts do not fit my truck. The intake says it fits, but the piping and injectors give me a message that they are not right for my truck. is there any way to verify? Were there other part numbers for different trucks? Any insight you have would be appreciated!
Great video! Just did the repair today, and i have to say the video was great at taking the unknown out of the job. It was an afternoon's work and everything went great. could probably knock it out in about 2 hours now that I have done one. The dealers are getting fat off this job if what everyone is saying about the pricing is true! No check engine light and the truck runs better and smoother idle. The hardest part was getting the christmas trees off the back of the intake. But other than that it was easier than I expected. Just a couple notes about the parts links: Even though it said the injectors were not the correct ones for my truck, they were. And I ordered the S pipe and feed pipe from the links and I ended up with 2 S pipes from 2 different vendors, but I have no idea why. The local Chevy dealer had the feed pipe in stock for $41. The link for the intake gasket bring you to the seller and it says "set". Don't be fooled. It is not a set. It is a gasket for $5, and it is for one runner. You will need 8 of these.
If you ever need help, don't hesitate to send me a message. I will do whatever I can. It may be easier to get me on Twitter messages though. @cdarnau on Twitter.
Ordered the injectors and both pipes. The pipe and injector numbers are old and new ones looks likes the same parts they just change the SKU with reference to the other numbers. Thanks hope this corrects the PO50D issue as this truck only has 80k on it. Do you know what the injector pressure should read and a scanner? Average pressure. Where do we all see the replies to post and your answers. That would be great. Again great video
Another good trick when finishing up the fuel rails on the install of the new injectors put the key in the on position let the rails pressurize and check for leaks. unfortunately for me I had someone do some work for me and he never checked for leaks and he never changed those lines that you said would leak.so I had to pull the intake off and go back in there and tighten up the line to get rid of the leak. Unfortunately the guy was 10 hours away from me or I would have brought it back to him and let him fix it
Just be very carful when you do this. If you accidently crank it, you could have major issues. Also if you turn the key on with all that disconnected you will have a check engine light come on so you will need to be able to clear it (but 9 times out of 10 the check engine light is already on and that's why you are doing the job.)
So after a year I finally replaced all my injectors just as shown in this video and I haven’t had any misfires or new codes come up. Thanks for the step by step process. Disconnecting the harnesses to the fuel rails was the most difficult part lol. Just by looking at the injectors it is hard to tell if they were clogged but they definitely had a lot of dirt and deposits around the ports. My only question is what should the ST and LT fuel trims be after the replacement? My ST bounces +\-3% and LT -4/7%. Does that sound right? Im guessing the LT trims do not reset when you clear the codes. Thanks again for the great video
Great! Glad it helped. You want your fuel trims long term to be as close to 0 as possible. As long as it doesn't go over 12/-12 you will never have and codes. Thanks again for watching!
@@cdarnau that’s good, my ST and LT trims are below that. It’s been a week now since the replacement and still no check engine light so that’s promising. I’ve already seen a 2mpg increase from before so I must have been burning more fuel then necessary with the bad injectors. Thanks again!
Would cleaning the fuel injectors with one of the those pressurized cans you hang from the hood unplug the injector? Instead of replacing it. Great video btw 👍
Great video but don't use the link in the description for the feed pipe... the link to that is the same part as the S shape fuel line link...PN for feed line is 12677004, I got mines from summit racing after ordering & recieving 2 S shape fuel lines
Best video out there. Fantastic job Chris. Did you use any lubricant on either end of the injectors? Also I can see the factory used loctite on the fuel feed fittings. Is it required ?
Thank you Mike! I don't because of the sizing of the tips. I always use loctite I just don't show it in the video because I have gotten several comments on videos where I did use loctite and the people put orange or purple loctite on it and now it is a nightmare. Thank again for watching!
Absolutely the clearest video I've seen, thanks! I have a p0306 circuit open, with a matching p0206. They came up once a week ago I cleared the codes and all was well for a whole week. Then they came back and would not clear or continue to run correctly which they did for the week. What do you think the odds are that I just have a totally shot injector? All my wiring looks great from the outside I can't imagine it's a short somewhere.
@@Tuesflex cylinder 6 injector was toast. The internal coil in the injector that opens and closes it when powered was shorted internally. Probably broken winding. Something like 80 thousand ohms lol. Changed all 8 injectors while I was in there. Almost broke a pricy fuel rail because the injectors were stuck so bad.
Great video, it's what I have been looking for. This makes the job seem less scary for sure. What miles were on this engine, could you see the carbon deposit levels when the manifold was off?
Ozer Ercan absolutely. I normally try to spray a little cleaner on the valves when I do them. I didn’t put that in the video. This vehicle had about 75k miles on it. Thanks for the comment and make sure you like and subscribe! It really helps the channel!
Next time you go one of these, can you make a valve cleaning video while the intake manifold is out? I'm sure most people doing this injector job would also like to clean valves while it's all in the open. I used CRC cleaner from the TB but not sure how much that helps.
Chris you have a new subscriber. What a great video man. Thanks for it. Where are you located? My truck is 2016 with engine 6.2L V8 codes are P0208 and P 0308. I changed spark plugs and coil’s but code for fuel injector is on still.
Excellent video.Had my 2015 Silverado vehicle to dealer and said had 3 bad injectors.Number 3,6 and 8.Code was P0300 and P056D.Price to repair was 1500.00 3 injectors, intake seals and high pressure fuel pipes.Said no and its been 2 months before the engine light came on again. Now its code P050D.After watching your video I feel confident I can do this myself.Pretty handy with vehicles.Would you recommend only replacing the bad ones or all 8 and how do I know what is number 3,6,and 8
Dealer parts depart said they couldn’t tell me what injectors my truck uses without pulling them out first. Do you have any idea what flow rate injectors a 2017 gmc Sierra 1500 6.2 4x4 uses?
Unfortunately some year models were made this way. I am not sure why. What I would do is ask them to make sure they have the one used the most (they will know it is used in 90% of all the vehicles) Then remove them and best case scenario you go back together the same day with it. Luckily you can take the intake off in just a few minutes to get the number.
Hola Chris. my question is if you have to do the relearn procedure on the throttle position sensor or not ? Gracias/thank you Chris it was a very good video
Great video. I followed it step by step after getting some open injector codes. I replace all as suggested. Codes went away. However engine won't start. Turning but appears no fuel getting in. I sprayed in some starting fluid and turned over for a moment. I checked fuses and finally pulled manifold back off and checked all connections, which were good. A bit stumped. Possibly high pressure fuel pump? I can hear the fuel pump in the tank when I turn key. Of note, this engine is in a 52 Chevy pickup and has not been driven since installed.. Engine had 40k miles when pulled from a 2014 Silverado (5.3 L83). Wiring harness is from Current Performance in FL. I did have it running several times before getting P0202, P0204 and P0208 codes. Injectors were filthy so needed replacing for sure. Wires look to be okay. Any other ideas? I have heard those high pressure pumps can be a problem. Appreciate any advice.
You check the ground and power to injectors? Also, did you check the terminals for "spreading" and loss of contact? The codes are all on the passenger's side....makes you think it might be an injector connector problem. Hard to believe it is an injector problem if they are OEM brand (acdelco).

You don't have to. If I were going to, I would use soapy water on a rag. I wouldn't spray it cause it could go into the intake inlets. Awesome! Glad I could help! Make sure to SUBSCRIBE! It really helps the channel!

So I'm getting rich fuel on both banks Bank 2 codes out then few minutes bank one goes . Only does it on a hot engine at idle. There is white smoke from the exhaust but very faint. I'm thinking it's a leaking fuel injector. Am I on the right path or am I over looking something, like the fuel pressure pump. And just out of curiosity why do you tighten the fuel lines before you loosen them?
Are the S Pipe and Feed Pipe 2 different manufactured components or are they the same from different manufacturers from the list. Currently the S Pipe from Amazon is out of order
After several false starts, truck started but ran at reduced power. Pulled the following codes: P0090; P00C6; P0202; P0204; P0206; P0208 Any suggestions as to where I went wrong? Thanks.
Changed all the spark plugs, plug wires, ignition coils, injectors, and still have code P050D with slight misfire on cylinder 8. No code for misfire. Any idea?
Possibly a worn cam lobe? A compression test and a snap throttle compression test would need to be done next IMO. Let me know if you figure it out. Yuma here bout to replace injector #8

Just purchase top tier fuel from Chevron or Exxon. Decrease the "idle time" and keep the tank at least 1/3 full.
Just replaced mine. This video helped me out a ton! I appreciate it
Great video, thanks!

Chris, terrific video! I think this is my next step. I currently have a 2017 Yukon XL Denali 109K miles, 6.2L V8
Bought it a few months ago and I've had P050D "cold start rough idle" that is very consistent and sometimes P0301 comes up.
Thoughts?
My L86 6.2L 2017 Denali has 250,788 miles on the original injectors, before getting my 1st misfire in #7 cyl. Excellent!’ Why not also replace high pressure fuel pump since you are there?
Great video. Thanks for giving out the size off the bolts.
GM also recommends all the hard fuel injector line to be replaced to prevent fuel leakage, since the high-pressure fuel is about 3000 PSI
Does it really make a difference?
This was in December 2020. In March 2021 when it warmed up the fault codes cleared on their own.
What do you think?
Clear straight forward nicely done

@@cdarnau Hey man, so the P0D05 should just need to replace the injector on Cylinder 5 correct??
also do the injector gaskets come preinstalled ? The nylon/rubber gaskets on the top and bottom
@@cdarnau The "P0D05" was a typo. My truck is showing both codes P050D and code P0305 which is where I got the Cyl 5 Misfire.
Just used the screwdriver handle method to install my clips and it worked perfectly. Thanks!

As always , GREAT video ! Your videos are VERY easy to follow , and understand ! Just wish I would have one , for every job , I try on my 2006 DTS !

hey brother I got the same codes p0300 and p0175 p050d codes and the fix to these is injectors
How are those injectors holding up
Why did you skip the most important part at 8:48? At 8:48 the video skipped to the fuel rail and injectors already pryed out
Because there were too many swear words used...yeah, it's NOT THAT easy most of the time.
@@cdarnauthanks but I did make sure all my connections were tight before I turned the key on and let the rails pressurize

Then they came back and would not clear or continue to run correctly which they did for the week. What do you think the odds are that I just have a totally shot injector? All my wiring looks great from the outside I can't imagine it's a short somewhere.
Did you find out what it was?
@@Tuesflex cylinder 6 injector was toast. The internal coil in the injector that opens and closes it when powered was shorted internally. Probably broken winding. Something like 80 thousand ohms lol. Next time you go one of these, can you make a valve cleaning video while the intake manifold is out? I'm sure most people doing this injector job would also like to clean valves while it's all in the open. I used CRC cleaner from the TB but not sure how much that helps.

Do you have any idea what flow rate injectors a 2017 gmc Sierra 1500 6.2 4x4 uses?
Unfortunately some year models were made this way. I am not sure why. What I would do is ask them to make sure they have the one used the most (they will know it is used in 90% of all the vehicles)
Then remove them and best case scenario you go back together the same day with it. Luckily you can take the intake off in just a few minutes to get the number.
Do you ever use any sort of lubricant on the o rings for the injectors?

will this be the same procedure for a 2017 Escalade with the 6.2? I’ve got P0206 and P0306 codes and a horrible idle/ misfire. 101000 miles on it.

Good morning family and good health to everyone especially MENTAL. Thank you very much for sharing. 👍🏼🙏💯💕💯✌️
This is the kindest reply I have ever received on any platform at all! I just want to say thank you so much. Even though you don't know me, Mentally I have been drained over the last few years because of a death in my family and it has really taken a toll especially on my UA-cam content. Again, Thank you so much for your kind words and I hope good health and mental on you and your family as well. ✌
@@cdarnau Thank you. Once again I wish you all good health, especially mental health, which the World 🌎 needs so much. That's how I always am with every human being, we are family in one way or another. What matters to me about human beings is their HEALTH, that they are well as well as their beloved family. I don't care about the material status of human beings, only how they are physically. especially MENTAL. I am deeply sorry to read what happened to your beloved family, 😔😔😔, and for what you have been through, I am truly sorry. 😔There are no words and it is not easy when tragedies and negative effects happen around us. I hope that within all the circumstances and blows that life itself gives us 💛 and its injustices, unfortunately, you will always be brave. Life is not easy, but we have to be strong and brave to survive. 💯💕💯✌️
Which set do you recommend?
Which set of injectors? Personally I would get them from the dealership that way you know for sure you have the right parts. As far as the fuel lines, the ones I have listed will work perfectly.
Chris thanks a lot, my question is should I try installing oxygen sensors first before this procedure because I have codes P0175 and P0172 on my 2015 GMC Sierra SLE with Rich Condition, too little air and too much fuel.
I have the same issue. Have you found anything yet that would fix it
If you're rich you probably have a leaking High pressure fuel pump leaking into the engine. I have seen this a lot.
@Chris Arnau it ended up being the high-pressure fuel pump. I changed it out. Works fine now . Ranges from (-5 to 5)
Got sick seeing my intake valves. But it's the type of engine, I guess .
@@chrisharrison6075 I always soak my intake valve when I take an engine down. I know it is just gonna get back to that. But at least they are clean for me looking at them. lol
