All I'm going to say is this: good luck to make a profit out of games that'll cost around 500$ to 600$ million dollars to develop, for a console that's probably gonna launch for 750$ minimum.
True, they should either only make games that cost $500 million to develop for future PC's that cost $4000, like Witcher 4, or make games that look like they're from 20 years ago like Nintendo for a $400 mobile phone with buttons that can't make phone calls.
The thing that held this generation back was they were still making games for the ps4 and xbox One. When the ps4 came out, they weren't making games for the PS3
Yes they were. Not a lot but we had a good amount of games that came out on both until about 2016. Thing is ps3 to ps4 is a big update. PS4 to ps5 not really. A lot of games that release now play smooth on ps4, if optimized correctly. Plus there are still like millions on ps4, Sony is not going to say fuck them, too much money on the table. It’s starting though, I think gta6 is only current consoles
I get worried too, but then I remember how bad the ps3 was at launch and they ended up turning things around. As long as Nintendo hits a home run with the Switch 2 and if Microsoft can step up, gaming will be ok. I’m hopeful that next year gaming will be in a much better place than it has been the last few years.
Honestly, the industry needs to pause and focus on making fun games that bring something unique to the table. We don't need better hardware right now. We have plenty of power as-is, and having to develop for bigger and better hardware has been contributing to the problem with longer development times. Just hit pause, focus on quality games, and when that's sorted, then we can focus on the hardware again.
Exactly. Everyone needs to follow Nintendo and take a step back. Nintendo did that with the Wii, and it's worked out well for them. And now is the best time to take that step back. The Switch 2 will be on par with the PS4, and half of Sony's PS audience is still on the PS4. So, developers should target the Switch 2 and PS4 and just upgrade the graphics for PS5. Meanwhile, next gen consoles, like the PS6, can move to a hybrid design like the Switch, and use that as an excuse to take a step back in power. They can also offer a separate dock with a more powerful GPU for anyone who wants to pay more money for the extra power. The opportunities are there. These companies, Sony and Microsoft, just have to do it.
No, no it’s too early for the PS6. Thanks to Covid we’ve barely started with the PS5. We need at least 4-6 more years before we even start thinking about the PS6.
you are right, but this is Sony who makes more questionable decisions by the day. I also think the games are becoming more demanding and Moore's Law is catching up to the console and even PC space with more VRAM requirements from GPUs
@@Shizzmoney74 I feel like all that could be solved if we stopped focusing so much on graphical fidelity and high resolutions and instead focused more on framerates and good gameplay.

After the Switch 2 I'm done with consoles. Sony is bringing their library to PC and Valve brought Steam to a handheld. I don't play online much and when I do I sure ain't paying for it.
Consoles have absolutely no value outside of portability and exclusivity. Only Nintendo has both. If it's not a Nintendo exclusive, I'll buy it on PC/SD OLED PS hasn't been relevant since they killed the PSVita. Until they make a PSP2, PS will remain completely obsolete
PS6 shouldn’t come out until 2030, the gap is growing smaller as seen by the ps5 pro, we don’t need a next gen console until then to even be able to see the difference
False the PS5 Pro is just a tremendous scam of an upgrade. The CPU is the same and in real world performance the GPU is only %25 to %30 faster than the PS5. PSSR in most cases makes the game look worse than regular PS5.
@@ZackSNetwork I completely agree, I think 10 years with the base ps5 would have been fine, and forced game companies to actually optimise their games and not just half-arse it

I'm gonna be real upset if sony starts releasing in 2028. Sony is getting real greedy here since they got no competition so they can get away with crap like that and it just makes me sad man. @Eh2004E you got a point. They're sort of becoming the apple of consoles. I fear if Microsoft leaves the console industry, and let's face it that's a possibility, then sony will have basically a monopoly. 2030 should be a target for ps6, but like you said they will be cucks and aim for 28.

At this point, the things we can expect is better fps even with ray tracing. I don't think that 8K resolution is really going to be as impactful compared to GPU and FPS. In that regard, I would say that PSSR ver 2.0 is what we're going to see on PS6. Other than that , they need to figure out how to deal with storage. SSD storage is still expensive per GB compared to HDDs that use the same capacity. At the very least, the PS6 should come with the internal drive and 2 expandable storage slots.

And it’s wild we are all asking for the same thing…but Sony seems to be purposely ignoring its customers, which seems insane to me for a major business
I just hope the PS6 won’t be out for another five to six more years. I just recently bought a PS5 and I’m loving it so far! The exclusive titles is what stands out to me the most, and the remasters won’t be remastered again too!
I don’t think it is pointless because eventually we will have photorealistic graphics and after that is just increasing the resolution to native 8k. It might take 30 -40 year but it will eventually happen and 8k tv will get cheaper and will be as cheap as 4k I would say by the late 2030s it would come down in price to be affordable
When they D-list your favorite game, keep that same energy about the physical disk console. It’s important for the console to have it because we have companies who will abuse the D listing option to make you buy it again elsewhere.
I honestly don't know what I would even want in the PS6 onwards, Visuals are great with almost no visible difference (that's meaningful), when people compare PS5 to PS4 games and act like they're unplayable when they still look good is insane to me. Let's truly master 4K 60FPS, this is now the default... no exceptions. 8K? Sure, if the developers want to do it for the 12 people actually interested, more accessibility features are always welcomed, but I say the industry behind the scenes should focus on being able to make these BIG games akin to the likes of TLoU/GoW/Horizon etc but reduce development costs, they keep trying to reinvent the wheel it seems with every game and now we're in the hundreds of millions before marketing budget wise. Could you imagine if they could do that and game prices come DOWN? (But in reality probably stay the same price).
Console lifespans need to be longer, and “the big three” need to start establishing that expectation with consumers this generation. While the Switch 2 is certainly needed at this point, Nintendo’s Switch cycle has demonstrated how a console can be successful into its 7th and even 8th year. Given the PS5’s power, it should have a minimum of 5 more years before the PS6 even enters the conversation. When 1st party dev cycles are 3-6 years long, and studios have to resort to remastering relatively recent games to stay afloat, priority should be on reducing dev cycles and minimizing cost to produce the current hardware. Once this is achieved, Sony’s next console should be a portable that plays PS5 games natively. If the eventual PS6 supports 4K 120 across virtually all games, that should really be the last main console Sony ever releases, with the exception of smaller hardware iterations.
The Xbox 360 already demonstrated a successful, longer console cycle. It lasted from 2005 to 2013, which is 8 years. That was enough time for the entire Mass Effect trilogy to release on the Xbox 360. Also, the PS3 lasted for 7 years (2006-2013), as did the PS4 (2013-2020) and Xbox One (2013-2020).
I just bought my first PlayStation 5 today, and I know there are still a lot of people out there who don’t have one yet. I was thinking about waiting for the PS6 at this point, but I heard it’s not coming out for another two years.
The following are non-negotiable: #1. 60fps min framerate, zero stutter. Go back to load screens if you have to. #2. Absolutely no smeary/noisy upscaler. Go back to the drawing board if you have to. I refuse to believe we can't have these even today. Platform owners must simply REJECT games not meeting the above.
It's so weird to me how the future battleground in the console space will be Sony vs Valve vs Nintendo with Nintendo and Valve fighting to the death in the handheld space
Bro a PS6 is the absolute worst thing for Sony to advertise right now. They really need to look at how Apple failed with the Vision Pro. People are broke, or at least trying to save a little money. Like do they not know that inflation is influencing our purchases? MAKE MORE GAMES. We absolutely do not need another system
Sony should make the ps6 hardware upgradable. Its still afforable to the masses and will also please the people who want the best gaming experience. Console lifespans/generations will last longer.
Meh. Whoopee because PS6 won't launch for 3 - 4 years, so who cares about what reports say about it now? Nothing said now will remain accurate years from now anyway.
Polite question - how something like Horizon that cost $260M, take 7 years and 300 people working on it to be done for 3 years?!? Lets be realistic - today triple A title takes 6-8 years to makes and this is basically one generation for the console, I don't even want to mention the covid, the wars and the recession and we are basically five years behind... Only way I can see any "jumps" in graphics happening it would be in the VR space rather than regular console. Consoles right now already have such live like graphics that any jump would be so miniscule that you would hardly notice unless you had the ultimate graphical setup for gaming. I genuinely think that, graphically speaking, what needs the next "jump" is VR. If VR games get to the point of Ready Player One graphics or some sci-fi movie like environment, almost indistinguishable from reality, VR would see such a rise in sales to the tune of PS5 coming out during covid

I do remember other collectors wanting to stay on blu-ray though and only changing their tune when it got cheap enough for Criterion to finally start doing 4K HDR. You'll still find people calling it a scam.
lots of professional photography equipment shoots in like 16k lol. Display resolution being 8k is a joke for sure, agreed on that. A high ppi 4k display is indiscernible from an 8k display

Can't wait for all the "remasters" on PS6.. Still rocking my PS4 like it's the end of 2024.
keeping my base ps4. there are no games worth it to upgrade imo. not even gta 6
PS5 is the most useless upgrade for a generation. The fact that machine that can’t hit 60 fps in 2024 is sad
@@neogeo1999I play all my ps4 games on it and barely buy PS5 games mostly the RPGs and Ys games that I enjoy. Hell I been playing games more on my Switch OLED. I have just as many Switch games as I do with PS4 games.
@@neogeo1999agree. Plus the Pro should have been the launch system. Sad they don’t care what they’re doing anymore.
GTA Collection REMASTERED… AGAIN!
All I'm going to say is this: good luck to make a profit out of games that'll cost around 500$ to 600$ million dollars to develop, for a console that's probably gonna launch for 750$ minimum.
Concord 2
Profits: 📈📈📈
Wait till the PS6 comes out, the first day of that people will be wanting the PS7.
Now that the Switch 2 rumors are on the decline, time to shift to the PS6
I don’t know man… I’m starting to get worried for Sony. They’re so out of touch…
💯
I get worried too, but then I remember how bad the ps3 was at launch and they ended up turning things around. As long as Nintendo hits a home run with the Switch 2 and if Microsoft can step up, gaming will be ok. I’m hopeful that next year gaming will be in a much better place than it has been the last few years.
they're becoming like Apple... but asian
@@ricachuuuu They're becoming like Apple... American.
I still feel like right out the gates, Demons Souls felt next gen. Most games since then haven't, but there is a shining blip there
No, no it’s too early for the PS6.
Yeah. We also need to stick to the IPhone 10 to make sure developers squeeze all they can out of Angry Birds…
@@Shizzmoney74 I feel like all that could be solved if we stopped focusing so much on graphical fidelity and high resolutions and instead focused more on framerates and good gameplay.
100% agree plus with the way Sony has handled PS5 I don't have Faith with them handling ps6 and more than likely ps6 will be all digital and idiots will still buy it
Thanks to the government's reaction to covid** fixed that for ya
After the Switch 2 I'm done with consoles. Sony is bringing their library to PC and Valve brought Steam to a handheld. I don't play online much and when I do I sure ain't paying for it.
I think alot of people will be thinking like this in 2025 and onwards.
Consoles have absolutely no value outside of portability and exclusivity. Only Nintendo has both. If it's not a Nintendo exclusive, I'll buy it on PC/SD OLED
PS hasn't been relevant since they killed the PSVita. Until they make a PSP2, PS will remain completely obsolete
@cqllel5186 ⚠️Hot take 🔥 trigger warning 😆
Disc drive is required for me. Otherwise I think this will be the last generation of consoles I buy.
No you'll buy it, I've heard this all before. You'll buy and then buy the latest Call of Dookie, Madden/FC, and NBA 2K. And you'll like it.
@@ZackSNetwork I completely agree, I think 10 years with the base ps5 would have been fine, and forced game companies to actually optimise their games and not just half-arse it
@ZackSNetwork it's ok if you can't afford it. You don't have to throw shade. It's a great little console that isn't subsidised therefore costly. It's cheaper than a ps3 was comparatively. It's got crisp resolution and high frames for the most part. PSSR has in 3 instances made games look worse but this is being corrected. Don't take too much copium it's bad for you 😅
@@Fanto_Sir$1200 for a slightly better ps5 is ridiculous, even worse that it doesn’t include a disc drive that brings it up to $1400. Double the price of the base ps5 for slightly better resolution and frames is unacceptable.
@penguinguy2167 dunno where your prices are, but I got mine for £680 and swapped a disc drive, my sons unused one in his ps5 slim and gave him £70. The price is so high due to the lack of subsidy, plus some countries' weaker currency at present. This isn't going to appeal to the mass market. The difference in visuals and performance is significant enough for me to be very pleased with my purchase. If i didn't have a VRR 144hz display, I wouldn't have considered buying it. It's not for everyone, obviously. It's the most performative console in the world and not by a tiny margin in many current gen games. Future games will look even more impressive whilst the base ps5 will be stuck at lower resolutions to reach 60fps. I wasn't willing to just accept that. Everything from it's performance to design and thermals is top tier. There's no denying that if you look at the actual facts and not just console war propaganda. Digital Foundry is my main source for news and info. I don't have time for click bait youtubers who don't actually know what they're talking about.
It takes 6 to 8 years now to make a tripple A game. Can not wait for ps6 to play one game in its life time. Ps5 was bad imagine ps6
Unless Sony's next console is the Matrix, I am not sure what they can do to improve on the current gen.

People forget that the next gen consoles are being worked on during each generation, so of course reports start to come out about half way through the current Gen. It doesn’t mean that the PS6 will release next year
Let the Spawn wave grind 💰
Since the PS5 pro cost 700$ I can’t even imagine how much the PS6 is going to cost
even if it's magically $100 cheaper than the Pro say 3-4 years from now... so $600 like the PS3 was at launch it STILL won't be worth it...
Honestly, I think they need to delay the PS6 till 2030 (or even 2031). Give the PS5 a little more time, and really push for the next gen to be something big. Take the extra time and cook up something special!
I hate hearing ps6 talk. Firstly 8k displays are like barely a thing, and until they are I don't think sony will developed a new system until 8k is the standard. I foresee 2030, this generation will break the 8yr cycle because let's get real, current gen isn't using half of it potential. The pro barely just came out. Developers are just figuring out.
I'm gonna be real upset if sony starts releasing in 2028. Sony is getting real greedy here since they got no competition so they can get away with crap like that and it just makes me sad man. It really should release in 2030 so they can let the ps5 grow into its full potential, but Sony just HAS to be doing stupid stuff like dropping a ps6 sooner than later so they could leave th ps5 to rott and DIE. Sony is NOT Apple and I will not take Sony treating their consoles like iPhones.
They have to release the ps6 according to their schedule as they are a hardware company first. That's where they get the primary of their revenues from. So they'll definitely release it in 2028 to please their shareholders

A lot of people will change their discourse about the PS5 Pro once GTA 6 released
With the reveal of ps5 pro i bought high end pc ,now everything is 4k 100 fps,
I did that halfway through the ps360 gen when they didn't release an upgrade after 3/4 years. I had I think the first 4k tv amazon sold back then with the og Titan. Today I'm looking for a cheap 8k just to mess around
Until the next Astro Bot comes out, I am probably gonna sit out PS6 honestly... I am just not much of a Playstation gamer... I've realized this across a few Playstations now

Will GTA 6 release on PS6?
Yes the "Definitive Edition" will.
Large language models for characters in games will be the main difference for the next gen of games.
Full backwards compatibility natively from disc needs to be the top priority for PS6.
The PS5 is my last PS system... I'm done. It'll probably be remake after remake... again.
I wouldn’t be surprised when if Sony wouldn’t try to sell the disc drive separately just to get more money

I can't see myself caring about 8k for at least another 15 years
