The Note 8 has *exactly* the same camera module as the S8. Same sensor size, same aperture, same sensor specs. The only difference being the Zoom Lens which I haven't covered thoroughly in this video, for this very reason.
If you really want me to do a Note 8 vs iPhone X - I can do that, but the results would be identical, apart from 2 more Chapters in the video - Telephoto Lens Photo/Video in Day-Time & Low Light.
S8 and note8 processing image is very different tho at least that's what I saw on other channel's comparsiom, I was suprised,,,but anyway cool video! Could be note 8 was just having newer update tho maybe?

From what I've seen, Samsung has updated the post processing on the Note 8 camera, so while the results would be similar, they would not be identical. There have been some adjustments (for the better with the note 8).
Why not versus Note 8? Portrait mode comparison.
ZONEofTECH there's a 350 to 400 dollars difference between these two. So why not use the Note 8??!

I have both the galaxy s8 and the iphone x . When it comes to camera i think the galaxy s8 is doing better than the iphone x cause the clarity and the image quality is retained soo clearly in galaxy s8 when zoomed in whereas the iphone x does not.But for the portraits effects the iphone x is doing a good job. The galaxy s8 is even more better than the iphone x in the low light camera.
I wish that apple would have used micro pixels as in galaxy s8, it would have been awesome..
Btw i prefer the galaxy s8 for camera expect for the portrait mode.

At the end of the day, considering that.we are talking smart phones, the differences are hardly noticeable. I would imagine that if the winner of this was a deal breaker this typical user wouldn’t be thinking Sammy vs iPhone but probably Nikon vs Cannon.
I think if any of the test pics were placed in front of your average user, they would all impress. .

this is why I never use Auto mode... theres a reason why theres a Pro mode with RAW output. Plus on the S8 did he even use HDR? Because you complain about dynamic range a TON, and I do not see this issue with a S7.

You can't really get a decent camera comparison when you use auto why even try to compare at all.
Dude, you're doing a great job with your videos but a word of advice: keep ALL your videos, even the lengthy ones, under 10-12 minutes. People walk away from long videos. They want the most in the least amount of time.

As with most photography the matter is subjective. There is also the fact that fans of Samsung are wired to think they are better and vice-versa. The picture and video on the iPhone gave MUCH better colour reproduction even in the low light situation. All the other factors seem to b e down to how the phone processes the picture. Maybe Samsung do too much processing. You can always adjust the pictures to your own taste afterwards using one of the many apps available.

As an Andriod fan I must say overall I prefer the Iphone 10 though it is very close.

1) Iphone X has 6 months of developing time more than s8. Infact, in 4-5 months there will be the s9.
2) Iphone has the burn effect with the anterior camera, compared also to pixel 2 xl, and bad stabilization too
3) You need to compare the iPhone to the note8 , both have a dual camera

You forgot to mention about the difference on both camera when it comes to how wide each camera phone can get. I like the Apple a lot, the only problem left is the camera, iPhone's camera does not capture images as wide as Samsung's camera.

the front camera mic on the iphone x sucked cause it didn’t smooth the wind noise out like on the S8 but on the back the mic was better than the s8
NO I think the audio on iPhone X is much better.... I have been an iPhone user all along but I think the S8 does have a really good camera.

You need to factor in the fact the iPhone is considerably more expensive than the Samsung. In the UK it's possible to buy the S8 for just 55% of the price of the iPhone
Why would you need to factor that in? This is a video solely comparing the photography capabilities and quality of the two phones. Clearly many angry Android fans are too stupid to understand that.
Finally a review that compares both cameras in various situations for a normal person. I own a S8 and was curious to know how it compared to the IPhone X. Thank you!
I hope that Samsung enhances the dynamic range of the S8 video/photos and reduce a bit the exposure of colors.

I think i have figured out why the galaxy selfie camera is so soft! If you go on beauty mode , on skin tone section it was already on 2 ! Please go check that out . Might just be my mistake.
I used to be a iOS fan. But the night view looks too awful which I can't aceept. I got my s8+ today and i found that there is a pro mod which can actually make the exposure for like 10s. With a tripod for 30$. I can take incredible city night view pictures.
I just got a s8 plus for Christmas can't wait to use it my first flagship.
2019 update: S8 and Note 8 got 720p 480 fps super slow mo via software updates and they also support 4k 60 fps video recording with a little trick, named LG Camera. The amount of detail is insane compared to stock 1080p 60 fps camera. Hope that helps, I love my S8

To be honest,I prefer almost Iphone X color in the daytime in AUTO MODE than s8 except for some pics.
But you know there is pro-mode on both phones .so imo if you guys once get to used to s8, you can get nice pic or vid cuz s8 has less noise and better brightness because of better F number and something that makes brighter and shaeper at night.
If i have chance to get a new phone, i definitely get s8+

Mr Chicken I mean the s8 does have a pro mode so it can take some pretty awesome shots.
The images that both phones produce are so volatile and unpredictable, that it's hard to make real judgement. I've seen videos where the s8 was blitzing the iPhone x on rear camera shots on the majority of the comparisons. So yeh, it's one of those....
Would love to see the Pixel XL 2 vs iPhone X camera comparison next, coming from a s8+ user I must say iPhone X pics and video look amazing and you gave a damn good review on both phones.
no offense man but a good camera should capture the real light coming in through the lense and captures the exact colors whereas in iphone it feels like iphone just brightens up the colors
Always been a Android fan boy, I think the battle has got so close that I will switch over to iPhone. No clear winner for me, but iMessage is now the tie breaker.

I love my S8 and I relay like its camera. It has the best front camera I ever seen and its back camera is decent.
But when it comes to videos iPhone X is clearly the winner.
As well the images with the iPhone are mutch realistic.
I am a Android fan and I never bought an iPhone because OVERALL I DONT LIKE IT.
BUT in this case I clearly would chose the iPhone.

Great analysis, it comes down to comparing them in specific aspects rather than judging them as a whole. I would be happy with either cameras on the phones. You should try testing the new Huawei and the Pixel 2. I'm curious how big of an advantage the neural processing has in real-world uses.
No offense, once apple leaded the tech and Samsung was far far behind, but now Samsung is nailing in all the aspects, good jobs Samsung

Actually, the iPhone X can't play 4K UA-cam videos for some reason
I think it's something to do with the codec that Google uses for 4k.
I could be wrong, though.
Iphone X : 1100$ Samsung Galaxy s8+ 870$ Iphone too warm and not so realistic. Samsung more realistic and has headphone jack.
For the front facing video daylight, I think the iPhone X wins on both fronts. The warmer tones and much better audio.
For the front facing video low light, I think the Samsung wins on video quality, but the iPhone still wins audio.
PS - loving my iPhone X! Preordered through Sprint and received it on Nov 3rd!!

In some cases u cold be paying 400-500 more for the IPhone X so tbh the S8 wins cuz just of the way cheaper price
I think we at a point where phones have plateaued that it doesn't really matter whether you go the samsung or apple way...you still going to get a really good phone
Now even s8 can record 4k@60fps. What else I want? I was about to get s9 just because of this frame rates but XDA development team saved my 750 bucks by enabling 4k @60fps on s8 that too on Exynos Variant. Not willing to upgrade until s10 or something like note 10 with 4k displays that would be amazing and insane. Anyway really good and detailed comparison.

The iPhone x was really good with making the colors look natural with clear backgrounds, but I like the s8s sharpness and wide angled camera,I think you can edit your pictures so maybe saturation isnt the problem and I just think the iPhone x is too overpriced ...so I'm gonna go for something simple with good quality . The iPhone x is a great phone but its just not for me
Raine Brookshire u can't save an overprocessed photo... oversharpening is hard to improve and oversaturation, well results will not be good alsoif u edit in photoshop for example... But u can do the opposite so the iPhone wins here
Personally, I actually think the S8 overall was better while sure the X has more true to life colors to me sharper images are by far more important. Coming from someone whose typing this on an iPhone 6+ I’m fairly disappointed. I hate the fact my phones battery is starting to crap out because I really don’t feel like anything major has come out for me to want something new. Ya edge to edge display cool but where’s that week long battery, dslr camera like photos that are sharp and crisp... I’ll see how long my iPhone holds out but I’ll just wait until the X 2 to come out.

Wrong, the only way to tell the real estate of the footage quality is providing the original footage file for download, because youtube adds compression and processing to the original video, no matter if you render in highest quality possible.

Tbh dynamic range is king, you can add some of the processing Samsung uses to the iPhone photos afterwards.
I prefer the iphone but all the phones this year have amazing cameras and it’s pretty much a tossup.

I't funny how much people obsess over cell phone cameras, even to go as far as comparing the Iphone x to high end DSLR cameras. Its funny how they compare the iphone with dslr's but then compare the iphone with the galaxy 8. Which is what the comparison should be.
So which one is better (or whichever other phone is better) when it comes to taking videos & pictures for occasions like concerts? (The zoom in, stabilisation, exposure are super important for this :/ what will you guys suggest for me?
We have S8+, and they take amazing photos and video. Keeping it on 'auto' settings you're really cheating yourself out of a good photo experience. You're either an Apple person or Samsung, either way, the S8 is more affordable, and not having to deal with ios interface is easier.
Why the colours change on s8 from very saturated and pleasing to eye on 4k than to dull and unsaturated on 1080p ?

I like the S8 just do to 1 the price 2 I like how the waters and the saturation is, mostly it isn't too bad, especially those low lights shots were so beautiful on S8 but a very close competition with the X however the X did have better true color on like 95% of their pictures

Iphone X really have more natural colours. But the price tag have made me choose S8 over the iphone X. I would not pay 2x the price for 'slightly' better camera. Features in S8 is also quiet powerful isn't it right
The front facing camera of iphoneX is much better in terms of width, colors and audio but in low light conditions, the S8 is definitely the winner. When is comes to the back facing camera, it's hard to say who's the winner, it really depends on our personal preferences. I would prefer Galaxy S8 rather than iphoneX for details, vibrating colors, stabilization and auto-focusing speed.

I came back to watch this couse i was thinking about getting the iphone x but i realized that the s8 is better.also in the video section the s8 4k video test is saturated but the 1080p is not,its toned down.

It's undeniable that the IPhone X takes better overall images but as a galaxy S8 owner that costed 360€ (about 440$) I think is such a better deal
