They day that hurricane Harvey hit Houston I had my Samsung s8 plus in my pocket. The water reached all the way to my chest and I even fell into a ditch . The phone still works and running normal. The phone was all wet nothing happened .. I love the Samsung s8

sakitech you also forgot to mention that the S8 has a curved screen which is thin as paper , it also has a dual pixel camera which in professional mode can make way more better pictures in night time than any other phone brand on the market and you can also put it on a docking station and use it as a fully functional computer with keyboard and mouse and even connect a whole external hard drive to it if the 256gb micro sd is not enough - SAMSUNG all the way !
Not really. All was done by Samsung, apple only 'calibrated' the system of the phone to adapt to the screen, because you cannot write a O.S. with the same codes on a LCD and the same for an OLED/AMOLED etc. Different tech, needs a different code, but they also copied the code from Samsung, just tweeked it a bit..

I went for the the S8 because Its beautiful, I'm not a gamer, I love my freedom and ability to customize. I would like to also note that I hated SAMSUNG in the past. They were nice to look at and to hold but as soon as I would start to use them. They would turn into a battery draining fumbling mess that could never quite get anything right (just from my experience). I am however proud to say that the S8 seems to be an entirely different beast and is probably not only the best phone I've ever owned, but also the best piece of tech I've ever bought and has revamped my outlook completely on SAMSUNG.

Nobody is even talking about what a piece of garbage iTunes is. How bloated the UI is.. How impossible it is to use regularly. How with the S8 you have no need for such an animal as the OS is all inclusive. As for the android app quality I will admit that many are buggy and are presumably iOS apps converted to android, not rewritten but converted. The droid apps aren't so bad that I would consider going back to iOS. I assume with time the apps will only improve. The MSD slot on the S8 is now something that I could never give up. Apple should really sell their X with a jar of Vaseline as they charge so much money for memory. AR kit and augmented reality will be a game changer in the future so google better step up their game! For now AR in the X is not very important. My being a horsepower fanatic I cant help bet be envious of the X performance compared to the S8. Horsepower is the one thing that will make your equipment feel dated a year from now. The faster the performance the more future proof the device...
My eyes are always drawn to that notch on iphone x. I upgraded from iphone 6 to s8 and am very glad I did. Apple must get rid of that notch. Android for me from now on

Android definitely isn't as easy to get used to than ios, but once you have made it to your specifications the possibilities are endless.
Alex yes , the notch takes away a great portion of the display. Plus the s8 edges look amazing. Plus the X has bezels on the side plus a notch. The s8 has a better screen to body ratio. Plus you won't even notice the top and bottom bezels in the dark but you will notice that notch on the X. So I'll prefer top and bottom bezels and Samsung buetiful edge display rather than side bezels and a notch taking a great amount of screen use in playing games or watching a movie.
Naji Kaskas I agree, when watching movies in the dark or playing games all you see is screen. While on the X you have the notch in the way. Yes you can just pinch the screen to make the notch not noticible but then it'll look like an iPhone 8 screen when watching videos.

S8 hands down for the price in 2019. As well as always have used android and always did not like apple for the price and from what I heard of their aweful battery life. My S8 has what I experience awesome battery life.
One key Bluetooth difference is that Samsung devices can pair with 2 devices at the same time and iPhone X only one. Example would be playing music on 2 Bluetooth speakers at the same time.

BizyGi PPI is only one one of many things that are necessary for a good display. btw iphone might have less ppi but Apple has increased the screen so good, that it is much sharper, than smeone would expect. Maybe sharper than a S8. With this fast wireless crap theres an update from Apple coming which should add that later.

And the S8 let's you record the game too, Yes I know the X can too but the S8 gave the idea to apple to create that feature. While I do agree that I prefer the finger print and facial recognition in one device, I don't think you realize how Secure and better face Id is on the iphone X. Even better than the new samsung 9. on amdroid yoi can run windows os like dual boot. plus there other android version you can install mods or more light weight android os. you can overclock cpu and gpu to run better. i used to do it several yars ago, if you cmart or follow tutorial good you can inctease performance of android juat like pc owners do and wiyhout mitch extra heat and strain on chip
I think they are both great phones, but the S8 is simply unbeatable. Benchmark scores are just numbers, they dont matter too me, maybe on a laptop. I used to have iPhones all the way, but at its pricepoint the iPhone X is a big fail.
Joost Meijer to x only does better with loading games by a few seconds and with everything else it's the same. Also it has a higher score because it's built for augmented reality which needs a lot of multitasking power

I did at first, but you get used to it fairly quick. And with facetime, there are plenty of apps that are similar. With the S8, there's a feeling of customization that I didn't get with iOS

i have S8 before but now i switch to Iphone X...the iphone x is much smoother than s8 the appstore is much superior compare to android. S8 sometimes it hangs and so many bloatware ..hardware and software iphone x is the winner base on my experience.

Hi Sakitech. Best review so far. In my Opinion, there is no Practical uses of iPhone X line 4k video 60fps. No one will use this one. In daily video recording 1080p is enough if not 4k 30fps is more than sufficient. If one will use 4k 60fps then 64gb variant will be useless. He/She needs to go for 256gb Model which is not slightly but very over priced. One more think I would like to add S8 is a dual sim phone (Hybrid SIM) but all iPhones are only Single SIM. So I guess who owns an iPhone so far, he/she must have a secondary phone :P I've a S8 & I'm proudly say it beats iPhone X in every aspects (If & only if there will be a camera software update for S8 for Portrait mode like Pixel 2 XL in Single Camera) Top notch in iPhone X is just Pathetic. It totally ruins the Display as there is a cut out in the screen. If it would have been a bezel in top, then it would have been better. in Display S8 is far far far better display than iPhone X. Appstore is better than Google play store. More than enough power? I charge my s8+ twice a day while my iPhone lasts like one and a half day. The Samsung is pretty good but the touch feels differently from my iPhone. The iPhone feels more precise when it comes to touch. As an owner of both I prefer the X but for the price, S8 would be better

“Super Amoled” and “Super Retina” are merely marketing terms. They both are still OLED displays, with slight differences in tweaking based on the design.

No mine doesn't. In fact, my s8+ outperforms every phone out there right now. The iPhone is just boring and useless to me. If you're someone who knows nothing about phones then the iPhone is perfect. It's not a bad phone by any means, it's just not a beast like almost any Android phone. I also do not want a device with lower resolution. My battery lasts all day with solid use. Google AI is WAY better than Siri, the resolution is the best, the camera is the best, the integration with Gmail and all Google apps is better, the way the phone learns your behavior, likes, preferences, needs, etc. is WAY better, it has alway on display (AOD) which no iPhone has, it has themes, icons, and other personalizations the iPhones don't have, it has had wireless charging for years, facial recognition for years, iris scanner, fingerprint scanner, heart monitor, and so many other features that the iPhone either just got or doesn't have at all. I could go on, but if all you want is a device to play a game on or look at Instagram, then enjoy your iPhone (which the new iPhone X uses Samsung screens btw).

Upgraded last month from a Samsung Galaxy s6 to the apple iPhone X. Best decision I made and don't regret it a bit. I work in a tech store part time and have played a bit with the s8 and didn't like it at all. I wasn't even bothered to upgrade my s6 to the s8 because I simply preferred the s6 design over the 8. Then the new iPhone x came out and I was very much impressed. Both internally and externally the iphone seemed much better and more premium and beautiful. It might have been slightly more expensive but it was worth it haha. Personal opinion and don't get mad

I am currently using the S8. I bought it because it was on sale and I could not afford the X at the time. I can afford a used iPhone X now but I am not sure if I want to switch, just because I love the display so much, and I have no problems with the s8. It's plenty fast, has loads of features.

All was done by Samsung, apple only 'calibrated' the system of the phone to adapt to the screen, because you cannot write a O.S. with the same codes on a LCD and the same for an OLED/AMOLED etc. Different tech, needs a different code, but they also copied the code from Samsung, just tweeked it a bit..

I went for the the S8 because Its beautiful, I'm not a gamer, I love my freedom and ability to customize. I would like to also note that I hated SAMSUNG in the past. They were nice to look at and to hold but as soon as I would start to use them. They would turn into a battery draining fumbling mess that could never quite get anything right (just from my experience). I am however proud to say that the S8 seems to be an entirely different beast and is probably not only the best phone I've ever owned, but also the best piece of tech I've ever bought and has revamped my outlook completely on SAMSUNG.

Nobody is even talking about what a piece of garbage iTunes is. How bloated the UI is.. How impossible it is to use regularly. How with the S8 you have no need for such an animal as the OS is all inclusive. As for the android app quality I will admit that many are buggy and are presumably iOS apps converted to android, not rewritten but converted. The droid apps aren't so bad that I would consider going back to iOS. I assume with time the apps will only improve. The MSD slot on the S8 is now something that I could never give up. Apple should really sell their X with a jar of Vaseline as they charge so much money for memory. AR kit and augmented reality will be a game changer in the future so google better step up their game! For now AR in the X is not very important. My being a horsepower fanatic I cant help bet be envious of the X performance compared to the S8. Horsepower is the one thing that will make your equipment feel dated a year from now. The faster the performance the more future proof the device...

Android definitely isn't as easy to get used to than ios, but once you have made it to your specifications the possibilities are endless.

Alex yes , the notch takes away a great portion of the display. Plus the s8 edges look amazing. Plus the X has bezels on the side plus a notch. The s8 has a better screen to body ratio. Plus you won't even notice the top and bottom bezels in the dark but you will notice that notch on the X. So I'll prefer top and bottom bezels and Samsung buetiful edge display rather than side bezels and a notch taking a great amount of screen use in playing games or watching a movie.

BizyGi PPI is only one one of many things that are necessary for a good display. btw iphone might have less ppi but Apple has increased the screen so good, that it is much sharper, than smeone would expect. Maybe sharper than a S8. With this fast wireless crap theres an update from Apple coming which should add that later.

And the S8 let's you record the game too, Yes I know the X can too but the S8 gave the idea to apple to create that feature. I think they are both great phones, but the S8 is simply unbeatable. Benchmark scores are just numbers, they dont matter too me, maybe on a laptop. I used to have iPhones all the way, but at its pricepoint the iPhone X is a big fail.

Hi Sakitech. Best review so far. In my Opinion, there is no Practical uses of iPhone X line 4k video 60fps. No one will use this one. In daily video recording 1080p is enough if not 4k 30fps is more than sufficient. If one will use 4k 60fps then 64gb variant will be useless. He/She needs to go for 256gb Model which is not slightly but very over priced.
One more think I would like to add S8 is a dual sim phone (Hybrid SIM) but all iPhones are only Single SIM. So I guess who owns an iPhone so far, he/she must have a secondary phone :P
I've a S8 & I'm proudly say it beats iPhone X in every aspects (If & only if there will be a camera software update for S8 for Portrait mode like Pixel 2 XL in Single Camera)

The Samsung is pretty good but the touch feels differently from my iPhone. The iPhone feels more precise when it comes to touch. I guess being able to connect to speaker systems that aren't wireless is MORE IMPORTANT than just having 2 tiny/fragile small "stereo" speakers that causes the removal of the MUCH NEEDED HEADPHONE JACK! iPhone X only has OLED there is a major difference between that and Super AMOLED. Also in charging u should had given it to s8 zince you are paying 1000 for iphone x and they cant even include a fast charger

But my s7 does after a few months of use it started lagging and sometimes crashing, then I switch to the iPhone 8 it may has less features and a low resolution display but better performance,battery life, you’ll receive updates and a great camera this phone just works and gets the job done

No mine doesn't. In fact, my s8+ outperforms every phone out there right now. The iPhone is just boring and useless to me. If you're someone who knows nothing about phones then the iPhone is perfect. It's not a bad phone by any means, it's just not a beast like almost any Android phone. I also do not want a device with lower resolution. My battery lasts all day with solid use. Google AI is WAY better than Siri, the resolution is the best, the camera is the best, the integration with Gmail and all Google apps is better, the way the phone learns your behavior, likes, preferences, needs, etc. is WAY better, it has alway on display (AOD) which no iPhone has, it has themes, icons, and other personalizations the iPhones don't have, it has had wireless charging for years, facial recognition for years, iris scanner, fingerprint scanner, heart monitor, and so many other features that the iPhone either just got or doesn't have at all. I could go on, but if all you want is a device to play a game on or look at Instagram, then enjoy your iPhone (which the new iPhone X uses Samsung screens btw).

That’s where your wrong the s8 has almost the same features the note 7 with a some changes about the design, a bad fingerprint placement, improved display, a few features and bixby of course not much of a change compared to other flag ship phones like the one plus, iPhone X, lgg6 , note 8 and the google pixel 2 witch most tech UA-camrs use as a daily driver so yeah and also the new A11 Bionic chip outperformed any android phone like your s8 only in performance and don’t consumes much power and can run heavy games can last a few years but your s8 lacks updates and optimization as a result it will lag after 1year and a few months no hate towards android I like both so at least u still get a futuristic phone and your lucky to have one..
Upgraded last month from a Samsung Galaxy s6 to the apple iPhone X. Best decision I made and don't regret it a bit. I work in a tech store part time and have played a bit with the s8 and didn't like it at all. I wasn't even bothered to upgrade my s6 to the s8 because I simply preferred the s6 design over the 8. Then the new iPhone x came out and I was very much impressed. Both internally and externally the iphone seemed much better and more premium and beautiful. It might have been slightly more expensive but it was worth it haha. Personal opinion and don't get mad

The reason I bought the s8 is because it has more features and it has a way better price then the iPhone X having less features. But even tho , they both cool phones.

I thought apple will remove notch & make it notchless full display in next generation but i was wrong.

I've been an iphone user for 6 years and just switched from iphone 6S plus to the Galaxy S8 and am very happy with the customizability of the phone.
I’ve been android (samsung galaxy) user for 7 years. I switched to iphone and now can’t go back to android because of software support and performance. I usually do heavy gaming on smartphone i admit iphone has less lag and way more smooth gaming experience
I am currently using the S8. I bought it because it was on sale and I could not afford the X at the time. I can afford a used iPhone X now but I am not sure if I want to switch, just because I love the display so much, and I have no problems with the s8. It's plenty fast, has loads of features.
