You know what's insane ? I just finished writing my new year's resolutions. I never do that usually, but I figured I'd give it a try. One of them was : "learn how to do middle splits" and here goes my favorite stretchy guy with the solution for my problem ! Thank you so much !
Right! Lol! But to be fair, the way they tighten as one bends actually restricts how fast you can get into those positions so may be helpful for preventing certain types of shock load injuries to the groin 🤣
It's crazy that he ripped his pants there, but for anyone who wants to find the end program, it was: 1. Hamstring Stretch 30s 2. Butterfly Stretch 30s 3. Pancake Stretch 30s 4. Pigeon Stretch 30s 5. Middle Splits 30s Do that 4 days a week for a total of 6 minutes of stretching for each relevant muscle
@kaiiimee no, he explained it in the video, these numbers are purely copied. For more detailed info, watch the vid, but in short, most of these stretches hit more than one relevant muscle per stretch.
@@realMaggyMage oh okay, that's what you meant, thank you ^^ I did watch the video twice but I also copied your notes because they compressed it. Thanks for your answer
@kaiiimee you're welcome, I'm glad i could be of help. When you stretch, make sure to remember the stretches need to be intense, but not painful, and your body needs time to recover. Enjoy your stretching!
You just saved me like a year of pain. I'm a martial artist, and I've been working on my middle splits for about a year now, in which I made maybe 10cm of progress. This video just got me 10cm extra in under 10 minutes. I am amazed.
Okay 2025 is the year we get to the middle splits! Here's the plan: - Do your middle splits program 4 days / week ✅ - Measure & track progress with an app (flexibility tracker range) every session ✅ - Rip pants (lol) thumbs up if you join
These tips are amazing! I’ve always felt “stuck” with middle splits, even though I’m pretty flexible in other areas (like front splits and pigeon). I had mentally surrendered to the idea that it was impossible for me due to my bone structure and stopped trying. But now, I’m definitely going to give these tips a shot in 2025! Thanks for the inspiration! Also, volume warning!! Ripping jeans sounds incoming
Wow. I love that you went into the rationale behind sets/duration because it’s helping me set up a basic program. I’m coming from a bodybuilding background and seeing the similarities between bodybuilding and flexibility training!
I've dealt with a herniated disc for over 10 uears now. Recently tweaked it again somehow and i was out again for about a month. In the past the excruciating pain lasted longer and i lose weight because I can't get up to eat... But this time, after finding your channel a while back, I am now beginning to love stretching and it's helping with my pain! While sitting on a chair with my back straight, I could barely move my leg up in front me. Now i can lift it a decent amount, but far from even holding an L hold. I'll get there soon though, I know it!
If thc edibles are legal where you live, try them for pain relief. They work better for me than anything else I’ve ever taken! And they won’t eat a hole 🕳️ in your stomach.
As a coach I talk about the 2% supertaskers and how the 98% should rather align tasks in synergies than attempting to multitask. The math behind these three stretches is a beautiful example, David.
I used to be so flexible close to both splits as a kid got hit by a truck at 16 got arthritis in my spine did skateboarding and kick boxing after could only head kick small people, even with mandatory stretches at work I never got my childhood flexibility back lol would love to be able to do splits! ❤
I’m a calisthenics athlete chasing a New Year’s goal to attain mobility in my entire body. Mobility is crucial for certain skills, and I’m like a board. I started consistently stretching not too long ago, and I won’t stop. I’m going to continue so that I can achieve moves like this. Here’s to a productive 2025. This split, along with all other flexibility, is mine. I refuse to quit on it. I WILL get there.
I love what your doing helping people who have no idea what they are doing!!!! I wish I saw your videos a couple years ago. Also nice rip in the pants 👌👌
Dave. Love the content. Been watching for years. Started using this video past four or five days. Looking forward to either the middle split or straddle. I'm not picky. Lol
Yo great video! I have lower back problems and sciatica, but after doing some of these stretches I have started seeing a difference. Thank you for the advice and scientific breakdown, my goal is to be able to do the splits by the end of the year
Your videos make me happy, and I've the chance to learn precious theory and practice that's my university didn't teach me at the right time. You stay flexible without flexi jeans. You are the flex God!!
Dude, I love your videos! They help me a lot! thanks Please, bro, make a video for hip internal rotation, I need to learn how to stretch, and i've been struggling in it. Thank you again. And happy new year
You need to try an all time classic in ballet and rhythmic gymnastics that the MBA students call "The Irena Stretch"😅. It' s a straightened legs external rotation (aka _en dehors_ in ballet), Just sit on the floor and proceed to stretch your harms, belly touches knees buuuuut, hands grab the insteps with forearms twisted, devilishly twisted🙃🥴😵💫. You already rotate 90° degrees without raising a brow, you can do it✨. Happy 2025 to all the family🖤
Hey David, happy new year and hope you are doing well and so is your family. Awesome video very informative and eye opening. Can't wait for the ankle flexibility video as I am one of those aforementioned martial artists. Anyway, I have a very important question. What time is the best time to stretch? I'm considering doing it first thing in the morning but I'm worried about stretching when I'm 'cold' like that first thing in the morning. Do you have a stretch warm up or something? Is it a bad idea to stretch so early? Let me know your recommendations/thoughts? All the best, really happy to see your channel progresses and grow. If possible you should definitely collaborate with Jujimufu again, it's interesting watching you two work together. It might not be your thing but it'll be interesting to see you lift weights with him or try tricking or anything.
Amazing, thank you I've been trying to get my middle split for a while But i only do stretch no 1, 2, and 5. I think i need to add no 3 and 4 And i do agree with 30s rules, that's my personal experience too
I do flexability dance and yoga all through the week for a year now, and no splits achieved yet... It's not even painful anymore like it used to be, it just stuck. I can touch the floor, doing all the stretches you mentioned, but butterfly with head forward is impossible for me, no matter how much I try, again, it stuck. I can go all the way to the floor with my legs crossed, 90/90, 90/90 with leaning backwards, but butterfly, not an inch. So concluding, I'm doing exactly what you say, and even more of that, and no splits, so... this is not the only video any person will ever need 😅 sorry
Can you please make a video like this on mobility (Lower and Upper body) and front splits. Because there are like 1000 videos out there don't know which one to follow. Happy new year ✨
Great video! 🎉 love the workout options you presented I screenshot them and will definitely give it a shot, can you please do the same for front splits? Thanks 😊
Say if you stick to the Monday to Friday plan and Saturday Sunday rest. What if your muscles are aching. Do you stretch through this to gain progress? I wouldn't see someone going to the gym to train arms everyday? If it's like a workout, is training them same 3 muscles every day for 5 days going to work? Genuine question as I ache already after day 2 and wondering should I actually rest or work through till the weekend?
thank you for this video! I feel like I'm making progress at a snail's pace with my middle split right now; I'm definitely using your routine for now on (also, condolences for your ripped pants)
I've been semi working towards this but gonna do this routine and make it my new years resolution - thanks for the video! Can you please, please, please do one for shoulders 🙏 I've been hanging by threading my legs through my arms; broomstick stretches from infront to over my head, then behind my back and standing flat against a wall with arms at 90 degress and sliding arms up. But my eight scapula is really crunchy and my shoulders are pointy where the bones stick out
Great video, David! Somewhat unrelated question: what is your view on the role genetics play in hamstring stretches (for example touching your toes)? I'm currently struggling a lot to make progress and my physiotherapist says this is due to my genetics. She thinks I might make some progress, but will never get close to touching my toes.
Awesome video ❤️ just had a questions for the membership and program option on your website. I’m thinking of buying the whole bundle just wanted to know if that gives me access to all the other things mentioned below for the app ? Like yoga and calisthenics and minimalist etc 🙏
Hi David, I'm having trouble with my grip on the low bar squat. Could you make a video on how to get the flexibility needed for that moment? I'd really appreciate it.
It's also not really your external rotators that limit your external rotation, because the movement in the split is rather passive and doesn't come close to causing mucle failure, but your internal ones. Otherwise you would need to stretch your quads and abductors instead of hamstrings and adductors.
Would you be able to advise why I can do a spinning crescent kick but not a spinning hook kick well? I really struggle with the rotation of how the hook is performed. Would the stretches you provided in this video work well for me increasing my rotational mobility?
I've been doing the external rotation while sitting by reflex my whole life and didn't even know it 😳 Decided to try the other angle and discovered I have kinda alright hip bone angles. Maybe a split wouldn't be that hard to build up to...
Great video. I'm going to implement this into my training! Do you have one for front splits? (I didn't see one, but that doesn't mean I didn't miss it).
How hard do you have to stretch? Should it be just pulling or should it reach discomfort, or moderate pain. I am 12.5 inches from reaching my toes… need help

Not funny anymore
This saved me many hours of searching, thank you

respect for keeping the part where you rip your pants, a lot of youtubers would just cut it out but we're all just human

2. Butterfly Stretch 30s
3. Pancake Stretch 30s

Do that 4 days a week for a total of 6 minutes of stretching for each relevant muscle

The femur video & sound edit should grant you an oscar. Much better than the ripped jeans.
