I GAINED AN INCH! IM 5' 11" NOW!!
I'm 28 so definitely done growing. I work law enforcement and the gear on my belt and my vest are always messing up my posture. I started doing this to help my posture once a week, not really believing I'd get taller.
I tore my shoulder years ago and finally got it fixed. Before the surgery, they measured me and said, "Does 5'11" sound right?" My wife and I gave each other a shocked look. I had always been 5' 10". I was and still am amazed!

This is very helpful for modern people, most of whom are sedentary and their posture is getting worse. The health of the spine also affects many levels, and even regular exercise without a healthy spine can lead to muscle imbalances. I have a bit of scoliosis and am still watching to see if there are more problems. When exercising, you will also pay attention to whether there is balance between left and right. (I found that the left and right gluteal muscles feel different 😭) If it is really bad, you may have to consult a doctor...
The content of recent videos is very professional, it takes me a while to understand. Thanks for this video! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Yeah I can always feel my shoulders and back release tension after doing that.
What also helps tremendously is to stand flat against a wall with your arms up in a 90 degrees angle besides your head. Try to keep *everything* touching the wall so that’s your glutes, whole back (yes also lower back), and head. Your elbows, back of your wrists and hands should ideally also be touching the wall.
You’ll find that this is extremely difficult when you first start out. So I started with standing with my feet at a little distance from the wall and slowly closed the distance over time as it got easier. At first I also didn’t let my wrists touch because it was too hard.
Mobile phones have really messed up our posture and this exercise will tell you how bad it’s gotten. I’ve asked colleagues to do this as a challenge and almost nobody could do it properly but I do notice it straightens their backs out for a moment. After you do this for 1 minute, hell even a couple seconds you’ll feel the stretch in your spine and walking upright will suddenly feel easy.
This is seriously the best posture exercise I’ve stumbled across. Just try to do this throughout the day for 1 minute at a time and of course maintain that posture. Or at least do it in the morning.
I believe I got it from typing in ‘good posture calisthenics’ and it should be the fifth or so short from a well known calisthenics male influencer. He looks Asian, like Malay I think, black hair in a ponytail. Forgot his name. Yt doesn’t allow me to post the link

4:05 - I can add from an interview with a somnologist that joint fluid is replenished during sleep. That is, if your sleep time decreases with age or due to some circumstances, the quality of sleep is low - you may become a little lower. But what's worse, the joints and spine suffer from this.

Iam a person who has scoliosis, checked with a doctor and he asked me to wear brace and recommended me to do core exercises, so I followed yours and also integrated arms, legs, basically the whole body. Doctor said without workout cannot cure scoliosis alone on brace, Thank you Chris Heria, It's been almost an year since I started wearing brace and started calisthenics, all of my friends and family say Iam a lot straighter than slouched 😊. I know others who have scoliosis too, they are also wearing brace and I have recommended them your workouts, your really changing lives out here man 😍

its amazing how normal stretching and strengthening your hips knees and ankles and their mobility can change you. just 2 weeks of correcting my dis symmetries was life changing. Those back decompression chairs and zero grav chairs feel great as well if you have pains. not sure if they do anything long term though. Downside is it is an extra 15-30 minutes a day. The time adds up.

As we get older, bad habits such as slouching and inactivity cause muscle fatigue and tension that ultimately lead to poor posture. The complications of poor posture include back pain, spinal dysfunction, joint degeneration, rounded shoulders and a potbelly.😊

5:09 What about Dr. Stuart McGill's research? Don't supermans/back extensions place excessive compressive load on the spine, and for people with excessive anterior pelvic tilt (lumbar lordosis) it will make their posture _worse_ by strengthening and shortening already over tight muscles, and stretching already weak and lengthened muscles.

I got severe whiplash trauma in my neck and ribs from a severe coughing and sneezing fit; I sneezed and coughed for like 10 minutes straight and randomly in the middle I ended up popping three discs out in my neck and two in my middle back, also dislocated two ribs and bruised two others. Ever since I've dealt with severe neck and back pain including throwing up multiple times a day from my muscles shrinking and basically atrophying to the point where it's constantly impinging and cutting off blood supply to my head sometimes. Not only that but through trying to workout and improve myself physically my muscles have grown so large that its begun causing discomfort when I lay down or raise my arms, or even sit back. I went from having basically no muscle from multiple bad injuries/disabilities alongside a lot of mental trauma and PTSD from an abusive and.. painful childhood.
It led me down a path of just being a lazy shutin who was too afraid to TRY and do anything other than that because I would be abused for trying things that others didnt want me to, or I'd be insulted and abused for failing. Got to the point where in total I worked out like... five months? Through physical therapy and other things combined together across many years. Made it so where I had basically no muscle whatsoever, then I got in some bad accidents and had some stomach issues and surgical issues that resulted in me being unable to eat much or move much for around 2-4 years. As a result from that I atrophied 60-70% of my muscles throughout my body and lost so much fat, to the point where I went from being 420lbs and looking like basically a sumo wrestler or strongman just through good genetics making my weight sit well, to looking like an atrophied skeleton with no fat on my body aside from the fat stuck and left in the loose skin that I can't lose without surgical removal. I had 0 muscle mass, basically 0 fat including any healthy fat at all; I went from being a naturally very strong person who could lift 150-200lbs even with little showing muscle, to not even being able to lift more than 15lbs without pain and muscle failure.
In the span of.. 2 years now maybe? I've gained easily 20 to 30lbs of muscle mass, doubled if not tripled my biceps up to 17 inches last they were measured, got the bulging boulder shoulders starting, the insane traps that look like roid traps despite being 100000% natural, you can see all the muscle bulging and rippling on me now; and its amazing aesthetically of course, being 6'2" and muscular and toned is amazing, but it's also lead to a ton of discomfort from mobility issues, stretching issues, tightness, everything. Barely can sleep now because I never had muscles and now I do so they always sit super awkwardly or get in the way. If I lay on my side like I always did with my arm above my head the delts and traps basically touch each other and crush all the tendons and nerves between it. As I've researched and learned so much more I've come to realize that it was from always being a hypermobile and flexible person; which meant I never had to stretch or do anything because I was ALWAYS flexible, and then going to being muscular and still retaining that "no stretching" mindset from my youth. In reality as a hypermobile and hyperflexible person I need to do even MORE stretching and strengthening as an adult because of how much I relied strictly on my joints and mobility to stabilize my body and muscles.
God every comment I make is stupidly long fuck it, just wanted to say Thank you Chris, I started watching you YEARS ago, probably 4-5 years ago now; and I always would be like "Man I wish I could look like Chris, I wish I had his dedication and willpower and blah blah" and now I'm actually starting to see the signs and results of the changes I made for myself and the things I've done to improve myself. Am I where I want to be? Not at all, am I in pain and sometimes regret it? Of course, but I also know that I wouldnt be here right now if not for you and your videos and the motivation and changes it's helped me make. I was struggling severely with depression and suicidal thoughts because of my situation; and because of your attitude and your videos and your mindset it slowly changed that for me, it allowed me to find Fitness and Calisthenics and just.. allowed me to find the thing that I love and want to do for the rest of my life.
Thank you for being you Chris, and thank you for always being a positive force and influence for others. You probably won't see this, but you changed my life and saved it through your videos and view on life and positivity. Continue being amazing, and I truly hope one day I'll be able to work out alongside you making a video, because I want to be able to inspire and help others who felt like I did, and feel like I do sometimes now. I want to help them realize that no matter what you've been through, what you're feeling or what you think right now? That you can do it, you can make it, if you believe in yourself and truly give it your all, regardless of what those around you say. Regardless of the fear and doubts you have for yourself. Not to mention working out with the person who inspired all of that change would just.. complete the journey in a way if that makes sense? Started out wanting to be like Chris Heria, and then eventually working out WITH Chris Heria? Bruhh lmaoo
