Hey Sam! I'm not sure but based on your CPU wattage you might be leaving CPU perfromance on the table, I think what's happening is the GPU gets pushed hard and takes 4 or more watts to run at your current resolution, when at the same time with all the action going on the cpu needs to be running at full speed, which can take up to 12 watts. But the cpu and gpu only have 15 watts to share. So the cpu underclocks to a speed that can work with a lower wattage (7 to 9) and then you drop frames. Just a theory of course. Try Limiting the GPU to 1100 MHz, which runs off 3.5 watts max and dropping the resolution down one more notch to balanced. You should see the CPU wattage exceed 10 W in intense moments and I think that should get some more frames for ya. Maybe even a pretty solid 30 lock if ya lock to that.
I'm still playing with my friends and having a great time! I have only gotten to Hard difficulty but at the mid levels I have set my screen quality lower and I got between 35-40 FPS pretty regularly. It doesn't look good but as long as I can mostly tell what I'm shooting I'm happy! Game is absolutely insane
I usually play Seven and run it ultra to high for all settings. Between 17 and 25 on bot worlds and honestly. I don’t see an issue
Ive tried running the game in DX11 and found it to be pretty stable for the most part. Clear you shader cache and then use the dx11 Lauch command "--use-d3d11" Also i used your graphic settings from your last video and it seems to be good for me.
Dumb question but are the " symbols something I should add to the launch setting?

I bought one recently, one of the best gaming purchases I've made, good to jump back into older games with it too
I have the OLED and play Helldivers 2 everyday for hours and it's stable at 30fps if you have all settings on low and it still looks good. You'll get some frame rate drops but that only if shit really hits the fan and you're over run and gonna die anyways.
@@anonymously_known haha yeah suicide mission is hard enough but haven't really noticed any major loss in performance like some.other say. I have it on custom and keep everything pretty medium. It runs totally fine 🫡
Pretty surprising it even runs on the Deck. I mean it can't hold a stable 60fps at 1080p on PS5, and that's without any anti-aliasing as well. Love the game but it needs some serious optimization.

I think it's just the old engine they use which they're already pushing to the limits.
Updates and optimizing in the next few months should up that frame rate quite a bit I think. Let's hope anyways. 🙏

You can get better performance by doing a launch command to use direct x 11.. and using full low settings on quality balanced. There also using proton 9.0 helps. Or the latest version of Proton GE... but I've only done up to hard on the deck. Playing on Hard/Extream on the go is fine for me.. and when I feel like getting sweaty I am on my PC anyways or I stream it to my deck.
Mine does the same thing. Hell, my laptop with a 3070 and Ryzen 5800HX does the same thing, with drops down to the low 30’s. It’s a very CPU bound game.

Even the ps5 loses frames at the hardest difficulty. It’s pretty unplayable on steam deck imo unfortunately. Hopefully they can improve it soon and also add cross progression
I stream it remotely through my ps5. And it is freaking amazing to stream this game to the deck. I am addicted to this game!

Great video! I’ve tried HD2 on my steam deck and I agree that it’s at least playable but not the best. I’m curious if streaming from a PC or plugging in the steam deck for more power would improve performance at all?
plugging in to power doesn't affect framerate on the deck, streaming from a PC (hwich i do reguarly) works like a charm, adds a bit more latency but not bad if you're on the same wifi network (i stream from my pc to my steam deck, which is plugged into my TV so i can play on my TV at PC quality)
I played 4 players diff 7 yesterday and its kind of ok for me, still getting fun.
Cap the fps to 30, it would help.
I’m level 61 all time on steam deck. Mostly play level 7 missions and I it’s playable. Frames occasionally drop in 20s but usually around 28-40 fps. Set all setting low
For me its playable, and i always play it while charging i think it performs a bit better but i dont mind it at all it brings that nostalgia feeling of starship troopers vibe and kinda more realistic cuz in reality all those explosions would dazze you 100% 😂 also i like more bad graphics i am sick of ultra mega giga pixel tetra AAA games .

You just turn on your pc and press stream
I haven't had a good experience using Steam Link, so I set up Moonlight streaming from a Sunshine server. This setup was a much better experience for me.
just steams default stream, right next to the big green play button you can hit an arrow and do stream
For those interested, try it in Desktop mode, it runs better
Also change your resolution in game, field of view. I average 40fps in game mode and I would say 45-50fps in desktop. Using Cryoutilities 2.0 aswell

for me personally as long as it doesn’t hit 15 fps or less, its fine for me, i can still play it, and dont play eradicate and sorts cause it hits the SD real bad😅

Try lossless scaling in steam ive been told its a frame genrater simper to dla 3 in a way see if that make a hugh difference ive seen for alot games people swear it works
yup I've seen some swear by the lossless scaling app, it's seems like a pretty underrated under the radar thing, might help

I’ve been playing on extreme with my deck. The frames don’t bother me and I laugh at the pixel lasers.
I expected that though.
If I want a better more experience I play on my pc. But for grinding out some materials and medals. It’s not terrible

@steeper4331 yea, but in graphics everything is set to medium except, render distance, shadow quality, particle quality ( those are set 2 low)

im on SD OLED and i think on medium up to 6 its ok but it for sure messes with the democracy spreading especially because i have a capable pc to compare it to.

i do it all the time! i'd recommend keeping it at 800p which blown up on a tv doenst look great, but at 1080 but FPS is too low to play IMO

well, yes, but as total power use, not use for just the APU, APU is 15w, otehrs are fan, screen, controllers, speakers, etc
we're nearing the point now where newer games coming out are borderline unplayable on steam deck

i can show temps! the on screen just takes up way more room, but it settled in in the high 60s low 70s on the OLED, about 10 degrees hotter on the LCD
it's not that high. Even on 99% GPU the temps is hovering around 70-80.
remote play 60 fps is the only way

I am playing helldivers on my steam deck LCD and i dont push it further than difficulty 4 because i am playing with no accesories and the gameplay can get a little weird sometimes… But what i hate the most is that the buttons when i call in stratagems are not built the best and i have to be super precise when calling stratagems cause otherwise it will just input some random stuff. I had to put granades and stims to the back buttons so i can move and stim up at the same time. But outside of that pretty playable
How the heck did you get it to work? I keep getting an error report message and I've switched protons and rverything and I have cryoutilities2.0 with the recommended settings and the 4gb vram and no matter what I do it won't let me play it. It boots up and then has a message to send an error report to Sony. Everyone keeps saying it works out the box and I even have the protondb thing from deckyloader and they all say it works and some said to use proton 8.0-5 and I've done all those and it still don't work and no one can give me answers. I reinstalled it rn and it still don't work :/ guess I can only play it on the deck if I stream it from my pc :( its major annoying. Of course I'd be the only one this happens to lll

I have it running pretty well on the steam deck. Does anybody know how to get your mic on a gaming headset to work with the steamdeck? I dont have the option to put the mic as the input source
If you're using a bluetooth mic it wont work.. atleast not easily.. and even if you went to desktop mode to make it work the sound quality will be buns... Youll want to get a mic that has a USB dongle or a cable.
