    I heard Helen talking at an interview about the video for I am woman. She said it was done in Switzerland out on a cow pasture, and she said there were these huge piles of liquid shit everywhere! And she had to be so careful about where she stepped. She said the smell of shit was overpowering and it was extremely hot that day with no wind, and yet she had to do nine retakes . Finally she turned to Jeff and told him I will do one more and then I am leaving what do you like it or not and then she said I won’t even do another take I’m out of here! Jeff let’s go now and the camera crew can do whatever they want later. If you look at that video you’ll see all the livestock behind her and she said she had to run across the field to get to the parking lot, and she saw a bull mount a cow right in front of her! And that was the straw that broke the camels back! She did not talk to her husband for two days for getting her into this!

  • @NYCgirl927
    @NYCgirl927 5 років тому +1

    Great interview. Helen isn't this nice all the time so she must really like this guy & his questions. She was notoriously nasty & difficult when at her peak. Im sure her husband at the time had a hand in her behaving poorly.

    • @emmabradford137
      @emmabradford137 4 роки тому +5

      @Tracy Sharp I did a little research, and she was involved in some awful scenes, definitely instigated by her husband/manager, although I can't speak to how she behaved once she dumped him, after having a son with him. Ms. Reddy was a talent to be reckoned with, certainly. I believe her character was evident when she belted out "I Am Woman" in LA during the January 2017 Women's gathering. She was unfortunately suffering from some form of senility, but overall her message was/is one of female empowerment, and I'm very grateful for her compelling artistry in delivering that message.

    • @NYCgirl927
      @NYCgirl927 4 роки тому

      @Tracy Sharp I was surprised to hear of her run ins with other performers & her unreasonable demands. Her husband at the time of her peak success was a known addict & very volatile I believe the person who exposed her bad behavior is comedienne Tom Dreesen. Im not sure if its definitely someone who was on the bill with her. Helen was abusive & demanding to many other people along the way.

  • @danfrost3043
    @danfrost3043 9 років тому +7

    I like Helen Reddy but let's be honest, she was nowhere near the Queen Of 70s Pop , that title belonged to Donna Summer who sold 20times as many records as Reddy.

    • @NewWorldAhead
      @NewWorldAhead 9 років тому +6

      +Dan Frost Actually, you're quite wrong... disco is not pop. Also, Helen had MORE Top 20 hits than Donna did. Look it up!

    • @roguenation
      @roguenation 9 років тому +5

      +Dan Frost
      As far as i'm concerned, that title goes to Linda Ronstadt, who had significantly more Billboard Top 100 singles than Reddy and whose commercial success didn't fizzle out by the late '70s.

    • @NewWorldAhead
      @NewWorldAhead 9 років тому +3

      roguenation
      You're right! However, Helen had more hits in the 70s than Ronstadt... hence, she was given the name "Queen of 70s Pop".

    • @roguenation
      @roguenation 9 років тому +1

      +NewWorldAhead Even just counting 1970-79 Ronstadt had more songs appear on the Billboard Top 100. Also, unlike Reddy she was on the covers of the magazines Rolling Stone and Time.

    • @NewWorldAhead
      @NewWorldAhead 9 років тому +3

      roguenation
      I agree... I'm just saying Helen was pure "pop"... Ronstadt crossed into country and rock. Also, during the 1970s the only solo female artist other than Olivia Newton John with MORE than 10 top 20 hits was Helen.

      You must have not owned a transistor radio or listened to AM radio. Her records would not have been played on 1970's AOR (Album Oriented Rock) FM stations, if that was your bag.
