- Helen Reddy's first television appearance in over 10 years on Hallmark's "Marie" starring Marie Osmond. Marie interviews Helen and Helen sings "You and Me Against the World" in the same key as she did back in 1973 when she recorded it!

Helen Reddy's voice inhabited her songs and made them amazing and iconic. Perhaps this is one reason no one covers her hits, because they would pale by comparison. This performance is a true example of professionalism, humility, and simplicity. Helen died in 2020, but she and her music remain unforgettable. Truly excellent!

Helen's return to singing was brief but spectacular. I've seen a lot of the female greats live including Cher, Diana & Barbra but honestly when I went to see Helen at BB King's in 2013 it simply blew me away. Helen's 'comeback' was stunning and rare - she performed in a way that is incomparable and unmatched. Sounded exactly like she did more than 40 years ago which is something no one else can claim. A true original & an exceptional talent SHE IS.
Helen Reddy will live forever… her voice, her songs; what a blessing.

wow, one of the VERY few who can still sing with power, clarity and perfect control and pitch at age 70 no less! If you close your eyes and just listen, theres very little difference between the quality of her voice today and 40 years ago. When she opened her mouth and began singing I was literally shocked.
Not many singers could maintain the "youthfulness" of their voices, Helen Reddy is an expression, still doing the song in the exact same key like she did back in the 70s. She really lives her life to there fullest, now a certified hypnotherapist in her home Sydney.
Amazing! Time has stood still. This was my Daughter and my song. My ex left us for dead. She was 3. You got us through. Thank you, Helen!! God Bless You!!

Wow. Some of our older singers have lost their voices, but not Helen, here voice is even more lovely, full and rich than when she was a young woman. Her voice sounds like double chocolate, mocha coffee, thick with cream and a bit of cinnamon sprinkled in for spice. .
Yeah it’s my 4th post about Helen Reddy. Sad day with the news of her passing.
Here’s my story...
I was 14 and had just returned to the US. I remember buying her cassette tape like it was yesterday. Watching her on midnight special and simply falling in love with her. 😍
More importantly, she helped me define what a woman is to me. Beautiful, Smart, Strong, Independent and Free.
Her haircut, her beautiful aquiline features. Those long legs and tall stature. Her Australian accent....
But most of all her songs of strength and independence.
Compared to what teens see today, catchy, raunchy lyrics, twerking, etc. I’m grateful that Helen Reddy was a role model on what I should see and admire in a woman as the man I was about to become. 🙏🏼
Watching her videos this morning brings back wonderful memories when the world was not as Fucked Up as it is today, and when my future seemed happy and Bright and Midnight Special was a highlight every week.
Helen Reddy, Rest In Peace. You will be forever part of who I am and one of the people that taught me to respect and admire women for what they are. Beautiful, Smart, and Strong. 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️

WOW, her voice is still amazing - virtually unchanged - TRUE TALENT, which you certainly see with very few 21st century female artists. After having played Delta Dawn on my radio show last week, I thought I'd see if there were any recent interviews with her and this came up. An amazing woman who has (and is still) lived/ living a full life. Best Wishes to you, love and light Ms Reddy.

When this song came out I was in a very abusive marriage and I would hold my two little girls and cry while praying my husband would be sober when he came home. This song got me through some rough times. Rest in peace Helen.

Wow what an incredible lady, her voice was so consistent throughout the 70’s, 80’, 90’s…and then coming back after 10 years of no on stage performances…amazing. My wife turned me on to Helen because she has a deep emotional connection to this song growing up as an only child, and like Helen redirected the meaning/dedication to a mom and daughter anthem…totally hit the heart strings. Also another great interview was with Ernie Manouse on Houston Public Media 9 yrs ago.

I heard the song as a teenager and didn’t relate that much to it . I lost my mom a few years ago and as she sang this song a flood of memories that involved just the two of us came rushing back and how much I loved her , miss her knowing no new memories will be made . When she sang the lyric “ when one of us is gone … the tears came flooding . Not out of pain so much as she captured the feeling of having my mom right next to me . . Thank you Helen for that visit with my mom

As to the Comments regarding Helen Reddy and her Health Conditions, she recently perform at the Women's National March Live on Stage in 2017, She Sang her Song I am Woman. Jamie Lee Curtis and others were on the Stage with her. She still sounded Great.
Now Granted if you Google the UA-cam Video it's performed without much of a Professional Stage Setup or much of a Band Backing her up, it's more like an Impromptu Performance.
My point is that there was Definitely No Signs of Dementia or Serious Health Conditions. I believe was 75 when she performed at the Women's March.
So much of what we Read is and I hate to even mention the Phrase "Fake News" because even Helen Reddy made a very Brief Comment saying, "No Trump" on Stage.
I wish her well and what an Amazing Strong Voice she still has at the Age of 75. She came to New York City with her 3 year old Daughter and only $243 to her name and what she could fit into 2 Suitcases. She had No Agent, No Contract or Anyone in her Corner. She personally had to go on 19 TV Shows to have her song being heard, because back in those Days Radio Disc Jockeys Controlled what was played on air. If was only after Helen Reddy had performed her Song, I Am Woman on Television, then more people actually started to call in to the Radio Stations requesting it to be played.
Now that is a Courageous Woman, hence her Namesake Song: I Am Woman. What an Amazing Dream come True. Ms Helen Reddy You are Definitely a Piece of the American Music History and Many Wonderful Memories from your Many Fans.

Couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy of Helen's "Greatest Hits" album in 1975. My favorite album, thanks to the late Kim Fowley's excellent production, is "Ear Candy" from 1977. Includes my favorite (and final top 40) hit, a cover of Cilla Black's "You're My World." Thank you, Raven Records in Australia for releasing Helen's first ten Capitol albums on CD...will love that voice forever!

I remember watching this when it first aired. I’ve loved Helen so much for so many years, and her passing is a tremendous loss I am still feeling. I have a Facebook friend who worked for Helen for years who had her sign an 8 X 10 and her “I Am Woman” album which was the first of hers I ever owned. I cherish them highly.
