He's right when he says it's not for the masses. They're "mainstream" only among black metal fans but if you let a non-metalhead listen to Dimmu Borgir they're probably gonna say it's "too heavy" "too dark" "it's just screams". Non-metalheads will never say that this kind of music is mainstream

As far as I know Shagrath is a really shy guy. A friend of mine got to interview Dimmu recently but Shagrath didnt go to the interview because he was too shy. As far as o know he almost never does interviews. Although the second he gets on stage he blows us all away
What's funny is that Silenoz chose a really cool stage name for his personality and role in Dimmu, much deeper than 'same effect as the Satyrs'. He's always been the quiet mastermind behind the message in some sense. Silenoz (otherwise known as Silenus, or Silenos), was not just a Satyr, but the wise teacher and companion of the Greek god of Wine, Dionysus. Silenoz possessed the power of prophecy when intoxicated.
@x4ds8mt9b I appreciate you too, glad to help! And yea, the exchange names bit got to me. I felt that the humor was right between on edge and respectful in this interview. They did a good job highlighting the guys' success
I know this is a very old interview, but love how DIMMU were kinda reserved until the older gentleman said how he really likes there music, you can see how the guitarist opened up and started to smile more . They thought they were going to be surrounded by old stuffy guys. Thought that was cool. Saw DIMMU at an OZZFEST back in the day, great show.

Well I don't know anything of this talk show apart from this interview, but I'm glad they attended it. This interview is damn funny !! When the show host compares Shagrath's voice to the old princess, or when the older guy is saying he listens to Dimmu and they're like "is he insane or making fun of us?", and then they realize he's serious... XD Plus I think it's a good thing when people who know only about mainstream stuff get a glimpse at another culture...
I can relate to Sharath and the choice of name, when living in Germany I was a member of a biker club called 'Nazgûl'. Again, long, long before the LOTR movies came out ;o)
Saw them years ago touring with Hypocrisy, Nevermore, and Children of Bodom. They played at this little dive called the Showplace Theater in Buffalo NY. A small venue that seemed even smaller when Borgir took the stage. They barely had room to fit each band member on stage and they had to move the drums to the corner in order to make more room. Their production is kind of silly when you see it in a small club in the middle of Buffalo, the band members performing shoulder to shoulder, dicks to assholes but regardless it was a good show and a good time.

that pop artist was WAY more humble than that host! then the host goes like well you have a song to play so go prepare... almost like saying "stop diverging the mocking were doing here!" but then again, mocking a band only makes the other one feel cheaper...
