There is no real or fake, only music they chose and feel the need to make and your choice not to listen to something they make. I liked the latest album. Artist should always create what they feel like not what someone wants to hear :)
I can't believe this year will be the 20th anniversary of Ozzfest 2004. One of the most memorable days of my life. Dimmu Borgir were a breath of fresh air after watching all the same metalcore bands on the 2nd stage.
I must say I remember this ozz-fest tour and me and the overwhelming majority of the crowd did not know who this band was when they entered the stage but by the time they exit the stage you better believe we all knew who they were great band respect to metal heads all over the world ..🤘🤘respect from NYC..✌️✌️
The US crowd, yes.. sad story.. . At that point, by 2004, Dimmu was already super big in Europe. They had had lined, as closing acts, 2 Wackens at that point.
if u guys bought the Stormblast (remake album) it came with a patch and the dvd of this performance. I must of watched it over forty times... who is with me?
Wild seeing so many in comment section saying they didn't know who dimmu borgir was until this show... 14 yr old me was at this ozzfest & was super excited to see this band, as I had been jamming them on guitar for awhile. One of the first songs I learned on guitar was "Dimmu Borgir - Puritania".. Good times. \m/
I learned about them in Middle School or was it high school? It was in a CKY skating tape and Puritania was playing. Not sure about the timeline but I’m 39 now and everything from my past just gets jumbled together at this point.
The US crowd, yes....sad story.. At that point, by 2004, Dimmu was already super big in Europe. They had had lined, as closing acts, 2 Wackens at that point.
That was a good ass fest Ozzfest... The Chicago stop had Slayer, priest, Lamb of God etc... I think that was the first time I heard dimmu and I've liked them since 🤟
27:45 = the heaviest moment in live metal history.. Galder leaning over the audience making the guitar do the evil laugh combined with his expression... STill gives me chills... I bought In Sorte Diabolique, and hated it, but was worth the Full Price for this amazing DVD..!
Seen this Ozzfest in Boston took some shrooms drank smoked went in great seats started tripping and this Band came on! I couldn't look Left or right! Just straight ahead! I was visually and sound was totally locked in with this called Balck Metal! Fan ever since!
August 7th, 2004. I was at this show. It was my second concert. Id never heard of them before, but once they started their set, I just couldn't take my eyes away. What a fucking show. \m/(-_-)\m/
Haha, the memories. I got the Stormblåst MMV CD with this concert as a bonus DVD back in 2006. I visited one of my buddies with that album and threw the DVD in his player. The look on his face was priceless. He only listened to Sum 41, Linkin Park etc and was deeply disturbed by Dimmu Borgir
Not sure if the crowd is just so stunned by the fact that they're watching one of the best metal performances of all time or because they're fucking clueless.
Remorf Chucket probably sins they are all from Texas they weren’t ready for a symphony ambient sound vs AC/DC bar room feel. Pretty sure a lot of them were looking at each other wondering if they are “aloud” to like it cause they all new they did and it broke from the norm.
This was actually Dinmu Borgir 4th time touring the U.S.A Also at that time internet still wasn't as fast as it is today. A lot of metal fans at that time were just being introduced to black metal specially cradle of filth but not many knew of dimmu borgir. I believe their tour with ozzfest was the biggest break through as far as introducing real black metal to the people of the U.S.A I was lucky enough to see them at ozzfest 2004 in Raleigh N.C
"Glance into the blackness hidden beneath your surface And enjoy the suffering, sanity drained in disrespect With such bedeviled faith in good, subsequently trusting evil Next step for mankind will be the last seasons in sin." That part is always so epic to me. ICS Vortex is awesome.
This is the best version of this (bridge?) in existence. The reverb that was drenched over the entire tone, instruments and vocals alike, just gives it an extra eerie and haunting feel to it.
IT IS FOR SURE THAT MOST OF PEOPLE HERE WERE NOT USED TO THE SOUND AND SPEED OF THESE SYMPHONIC BLAC METAL BANDS AND DIMMU BORGIR IS ONE OF THE BEST !!!
This is the Track List: 1 - Spellbound by the Devil (0:22 - 4:20) 2 - Vredesbyrd (4:23 - 9:03) 3 - Kings of the Carnival Creation (9:22 - 17:09) 4 - Progenies of The Great Apocalypse (17:25 - 22:31) 5 - Mourning Palace (22:41 - 28:07)
I hear many Black metal fans calling DB sellouts. The fact is they have touched on the symphonic and progressive side of metal. I love it. The screams of purists in every genre hold everybody back. The same thing happened in Jazz, Blues and rock when more progressive elements where introduced.
The funny thing is that symphonic black metal doesn't appeal to that many more people than raw black metal. Who exactly are they selling out to?? Their sound has evolved over the years as is the case with all great long-standing metal bands. Long live Dimmu Borgir!
I was honored to be able to see this incarnation of them live. And Vortex made eye contact with me. (At least it looked like it lol) They were supporting Danzig. Danzig was awful and these guys were fucking incredible.
i remember them being at ozzfest, and you're right. They would have thrived on second stage, but the older ozzy fans were in the front row and didn't get it lol.

Vortex's voice is dearly missed in this band. The early 00's really was THE era for Dimmu.
Perfect lineup, after Mustis and Vortex left, I don't really care much for Dimmu.
@@gabrielorville5334 We are only missing Nick Barker s2
@@gabrielorville5334 Same. Losing two key members isn't recoverable. Enthrone is my favorite.
agreed, but then you can listen to all his bands.. He certainly is a busy man
Not trolling, I honestly never understood the Vortex hype. Mustis and Nick were more important.

Vortex brought me to tears.. He's one of kind!
Pure unadulterated passion and treachery.
That last note hit by vortex in progenies... Metal perfection... God i miss old Dimmu
It was his hands down best performance. Mustis & his genius added some reverb but that voice can't be fabricated. We all felt invigorated.
@@oldschooldude8370 It's a crime Nick Barker was not with them for this show :(
18 yrs has passed since I watched this fkn concert and I still believe this is their best one.
This one is definitely a banger, no doubt aboutit. But Wacken 2001...I think that was the one!
This is the real Dimmu Borgir that I liked and used to know.
