A lot
Not a cat psychologist, but it seems to me that they're meowing to get your attention, and when you're recording them they have your attention
THUMBS DOWN...
You are still being a bunch of poor-shaming sellouts!!!
EBEGGARS!!!
Oh, and Mobile Gaa-yeeeee-mes still are under scrutiny by some authorities, such as the EU government,
If you do not like me, You go to H3l1!!!
The integrity of DYKG is unmatched. Not only being totally transparent about the motive and background of a sponsorship, but also taking the time to make sure their community would be okay with it
I worked on Dungeon Hunter 1 and 2 as an artist. You don’t see mobile games called out or talked about like this. I know it’s a sponsored video but seeing some of my work from 13-14 years ago on DYKG is just mind blowing! Thank you for covering this I had such fun working on them.
That's so cool man. Congrats. What're you working on these days?
For anyone wondering; you probably do know this game series if you spent any time on the App Store and Play Store around a decade ago, even if you never played it.
It's more popular in Japan and South Korea than it is in the west. Though there are releases on Vita and Steam.
If I remember correctly one of my very good friends from highscool really liked some 2 Dungeon Hunter games.
Though I myself did not exactly had much interest.
I spent a ton of time on the App Store a decade ago and I don't remember this series at all.
@@seanmcbay it's by GameLoft
most of us are conditioned to barely see GameLoft or Ubisoft games in the app store even if it's in the top 10 downloads 😂
@@seanmcbayI do remember this game.
Is that why the spin off Dungeon Hunter Champions had a random collaboration with King Of Fighters? KOF is well known in Asia, including Korea. So perhaps they did the collab in an attempt to get the attention of the Korean audience.
You gotta love that they literally had to put in the title what their true motives for making this vid was because they knew people would be upset. It’s respectable.
It was because in the past they did a video that was fully about a sponsored game that no one knew about and all the trivia and facts was just random stuff the devs gave them and felt like it was them just selling out.
@@Xanek
Oh yeah.
I don’t have any problem with sponsored content as long as the creators are upfront about it being sponsored.
Gamers truly are a whiny, fickle lot. How dare they get paid to help them continue to make more content.
@@XanekDo you remember what video that was?
I still have Dungeon Hunter 1 installed on my old 1Phone 3Gs, i jump back into it every now and then. It was maybe my favourite mobile game of all time.
I'm cool with sponsored videos as long as the content is still good and - especially - if it helps the channel and community.
This is proof that the "did you know" format of videos can be entertaining even if the content covered isn't 100% something I'd be interested in. Especially knowing I can support a channel that supports video game archival and history. Thanks again for being what I would consider the hardest working video game channel on UA-cam. Conducting real journalism, fact checking, unearthing ancient trivia. Do what you need to do for that money to donate, real gamers (retro or otherwise) will appreciate this content knowing what it means for the scene as a whole.
I like that you guys are being transparent about your sponsor and how this is going to help the community
Good stuff
My guess with the cats? They only really meow for humans, so when under the pressure to act like a cat, they stop trying to vocally communicate like a human, and communicate in their native, more physical language.
I remember playing dungeon hunter 2 on iOS back in the day. Ever since that I’ve never found a game like it.
When you said "one of the biggest" I was expecting Fate or Torchlight. Never heard of Dungeon Hunter/Quest before
Love how the money was spent! Kudos!
Was a fun little game on Vita. I actually think i got the platin trophy back then.
Never heard of this series, but it was a good video so I guess everyone wins (the company advertised their product to a new crowd and we got a good video).
6:01 true cat behaviors
Cats are creatures of habit. If you want them to meow in the recording booth bring them into the booth everyday and then give them a treat.
Maybe play a sound that they don't often hear to let them know it's time. (DO NOT PLAY SOMETHING THAT IS GOING TO BE HEARD NORMALLY)
Then one day don't give them a treat and they will complain, meowing in the record booth.
That's whay I would do
My guess: Cats are super intelligent and know that you were trying to record them, they want to be paid.
Oh my god, I played Dungeon Hunter 4 in high school. This gave me a MASSIVE brainwave when I remembered it
The cats didn't want to get caught saying anything that might incriminate them later on
Just a guess, but animals pick up on things like atmosphere, attitudes, and vibrations. One moment everyone is working as normal, but then suddenly you turn on all this equipment and get silent to listen to the cats. The cats don't know what's going on with this sudden change, but they're paying just as much attention as you to try and figure it out.
Not a cat behaviorist, but I do know cats don't meow for each other. They only really meow at people when hey want something from said humans. So when you're busy, of course they meow, cause you're not paying them enough attention. But when you sit them down as the center of attention and look like you want something from them? They clam right up!
Dungeon Hunter on symbian phones was poggers
Pulling all the recording equipment changed the environment, which probably made the cats feel uncomfortable. Moving it all back made it normal again so they'd act normal again.
This is unironically one of my favorite vita games. Love it, and we need one on Switch cart.
I'm pretty sure this is the game that my cousin and I both got at release with the PSP. He couldn't play more than 30 minute cuz the opening had a section with spiders. He's deathly afraid
Eh, it's no mystery that that's just how cats are. They know what is needed of them and do the exact opposite by their nature :P
Do Sonic Frontiers next!
I will instantly forget this entire video but hey good on you for using the money well.
I’d have more respect for Game Loft if they kept their games up to date. The money from this video is going to preserving games and being paid for by a company that doesn’t. Maybe you should have just told them to update re-list their games so foundations don’t have to resort to copying them and making them available through emulation.
Used to play this on PS3 all the time
The cats know exactly what the team wants to do, but they dont wanna do it 😅
GvG already existed in DH5 ;)
MiCats typically meow at people when hungry. Not saying they should starve the cats lol
Interesting video, learned something new! Thanks for doing what you do!
I'm just glad it's not yet another Pokèmon video
For the cat question, it's probably because they already had their attention as for why they went silent.
Thank you for making this video and giving back to the community!
Nice ad. Cant wait for a video
Transparency is nice and also good video. Do we know if this game will be on Windows store or consoles like some of the others?
When he said "Sit back and relax" i was thinking oh shit i didnt check the time! Awesome this must be another long one... 9 mins long... Oh shit i barely had time to go get a drink.
I don't care if this is sponsored this was pretty neat, same with the others
I played this on Vita and loved it. Used your link to register for 6. Just got a new iPhone so should be fun to play. I hope it has controller support
get that bag did you know gaming
Was this an ad? Shouldn’t you disclose that?
Its interesting vid, but its funny how they said "we" asked. Everyone with a brain, know the DH team wrote the script for them. Lol
Guys, don't be so harsh. For an outsider, it may not look like a relevant game, but I played the first Dungeon Hunter when I was a kid and I really loved it at the time. Earlier entries were well packed games since microtransactions weren't that prominent in the early 2000's. And also, even if the video is sponsored, at least they are helping with videogame preservation, and I'm loving the facts about the inspiration this franchise took.
Any donation to the videogame preservation community is very much appreciated.
Get that bread
I'm glad it was for a good cause, but please keep this type of video to a minimum moving forward.
Great job on the video like always, even if the subject is awful.
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Get that bag boys
The series now requires an internet connection to play, even single player, so it’s a hard pass for me. Can’t support games that do that.
i liked the video :) i enjoyed hearing what other series inspired these titles and how the international home console releases affected the series in different regions.
It would've been nice if DYKG had done popular moblie games like Genshin Impact.
Is not like I'm trying to be sarcastic. It's that sponsored games are less likely to have more views if it is about a game no one ever heard about.
i've tried recording my cute cats for years, to the same effect
i personally find, cats, are assholes
yeah
Big fat L
The first DH was really good for the time, then i play DH5 and it was much better gameplay wise, but at the same time is a Pay2Win game filled with unnecesary microtransations, i dont have many hopes for DH6...
come on dude.
I love this channel!
Bring on the Raid sponsors.
Mother fucking raid redemption sponsorship...
It is so dumb that you need to put so much effort into justifying why you are doing a sponsored video, how on earth is the concept of DYKG receiving money (that they aren't even entirely keeping for themselves!!) such a hot button for people. Good work deserves compensation, no matter what that work might be. Those same people who complained about the Arknights video get sponsored by whatever company they work for every day to write their code or flip their burgers, but heaven forbid other people get paid.
Honestly, I think this is cool! If you did something like this for the major games that sponsor youtubers (I'm thinking Raid Shadow Legends, World of Tanks, etc) as sponsorship videos, i think that could be pretty cool.
I don’t mind learning about a skrunkly mobile game that’s been around since 2009?!?
Gods I feel old
The csts are mowing for attention, wheb your tryingbto record them, they have it
DHVI isn't even a dungeon hunter game ffs. it's a rework/reskin of a failed noname mobile cashgrab. To act like the DH devs are continuing their franchise is disingenuous at best.
That didn't stop Enix from taking away Dragon Warrior from our childhoods!
Down with mobile games!
titlegore
Who the fuck ??????????? I’ve NEVER heard of this game. Seems like an add 🤨
I have to admit that I enjoyed DH:A on PS Vita.
what a cool video I have been playing this year doungeon hunter aliance please make more videos about gameloft games the game dev in that studio is very interesting
Oh, hey, look, a sponsored video without a clear break between ad and content. I guess professional ethics means nothing if you can pocket some sponsor money. :(
What happened to "We won't take sponsorships just to shill for some game"?
They took the $12,000 that they got paid for it & donated it to a video game preservation charity. Which then they can write off on their taxes.
@@b3ans4eva Where the hell did you read that?
@@otaking3582the first 30 seconds of the video?
@@otaking3582it's literally at the beggining of the video and in thefking title lol
Ooo cool😊
I get that mobile games are eligible for DKYG, but... you guys might want to pick the "heavier" hitters next time ^^; , such as Angry Birds, Candy Crush, Plants vs Zombies, Genshin Impact and even RAID: Shadow Legends, which has sponsored a LOT of videos. Imagine getting a trivia on the latter :P I will say that it was an informative and fun video, especially for a franchise many of us barely know about :)
Aww yeah
Yeah sure, I'll watch the whole thing to support vg preservation.
Mobile games nobody cares first time ive had to quit one of your videos early...
If my channel ever pops off, i'd be more than HAPPY to contribute to game preservation. 🎮♥️🇵🇭
Stop with the clickbait first, so you can grow quickly
This series is ok. Kinda boring, but thanks I guess.
To the people who are hating on this video GROW UP! and try the game they are fun.
I can tell what dungeon hunter 1 lacked that 6 will have pay to win bs
Don't need to be a cat expert to know that cats are just jerks.
Sorry but you are wrong. Pride and whatnot are not emotions. They are part of the deadly sins. Ignorance is bliss huh.
So that must mean we don’t feel anything, we’re just slaves to God?
Matrimony is better than videogames
Someone’s trying to bait.
Mobil P2W BS 🤢🤮
"One of the biggest Hack and Slash dungeon franchises" I've never heard of this franchise until this video.
Did you grow up with iOS devices when they first came out? The first 2 games were *huge* back in the heyday of premium games on the app store, and 3-5 have done pretty well as freemiums. 4 is the best onee of the freebies.
To be fair, it was pretty big on mobile devices in Japan and Korea for a good decade.
Which is weird considering it got English releases before either localisation.
I played the Vita game, and I’d say it’s nothing special, but it was fun to play on the airplane.
I have it on vita it's ass lol
It's not a coincidence they say that on the video that is sponsored by Dungeon Hunter
Thank you for being immediately honest about what the intentions of this video was.
A long time ago DYKG put out a video that was 100% just a sponsored video but it was just a game no one heard about and it was just "facts and trivia" that the devs handed to them and seemed disingenuous at the time and felt like they were selling out.
That would be about « Arknight ». I checked 😅

On a sidenote, I'm still waiting for "DKYG Tales of", featuring the Brotherhood of Gaming. I'd love to know...
- Why Legendia was developed by "Team C", or a tertiary team that wasn't Team Symphonia or Team Destiny?
- Why Phantasia GBA had an awful localisation?
- Why Tempest was never remade like Innocence and Hearts R?
- Why Zestiria changed the battle system... and what was the controversy about in actuality?
- Why Arise changed the battle system... and removed the multiplayer?
- Why Symphonia's re-releases didn't cap 60 fps?
- Why Eternia was changed to Destiny 2 in the US?
All these questions could use answers ;)
Symphonias re-releases not capping 60 is, from what I've heard, because the original version they're based on is the PS2 version that capped at 30 because the hardware was different from the Gamecube which could take it to 60 fps easier. And every re-release since hasn't bothered to enter the code and change this because doing so takes more resources and money than Namco is willing to spend. The answer being bluntly 'greed' feels like it's not information that's worth Did You Know Gaming's time.
The cats meowed is because they wanted attention.
In the meeting room they were ignored , in the recording room they were the focus.
It's as simple as that.
My guess worth the cats. Cats meow when they want attention, if you give it to them they won’t meow. They only meow with humans.
Alternatively the sound of the hardware might be outputting a frequency that the cats hear and we don’t. Altering their behaviour
Also, setting up all the recording equipment is introducing a bunch of novelty to the environment that takes up the cats' attention
I used to play this on my cell phone, and I bought the ps vita version and it is one of the games I play on my vita every once in awhile.
I’ve played a lot of Dungeon Hunter 4 and 5. It’s not the best in the genre but it’s very competent until years in when monetisation got out of hand. The premium one in Vita was really good though as there weren’t IAPs getting in the way. I’m excited to DH6 but I hope they don’t go too far with monetisation since F2P is mandatory in mobile these days.
I remember looking for a diablo clone on my phone I remember looking at 5 but I really wanted it just like diablo
Haven't heard this name in a while. The first two were pretty great games for their time. No microtransactions either... until the 3rd game, which is where I noped the hell outta there.
I remember the Rogue being my favorite character. He could just ignore all the other stats and focus entirely on dexterity. This made him spongey, but he would able to kill everything almost immediately.
How am I supposed to read this title? lol
"Sponsored history of a random mobile game series to fund video game preservation with $12000"
I'm not a cat behavioral scientist but I can confirm that those cats knew exactly what they wanted to do and refused to cooperate because cats are little rascals who deserve to be bothered
I hope one day Caddy's good frenemy Spons will be able to help DYKG with their sponsored content. I don't mind it either way, people gotta eat and UA-cam income from what I've heard is about as sustainable as nitro glycerine, but Spons in my experience tends to make ads so damn fun.
He doesn't go with DYKG's chilled, analytical tone whatsoever. Not a good fit for a psychotic, sentient, screaming kite.
@@L33PL4Y That's fair.
Dungeon Hunter Alliance was one of the best games on the PSVita. I know that doesn't say much lol but I had a lot of fun with it.
I like this Idea, I hope you're able to collab with Punishing Gray Raven or Girls Frontline
