If you have a rotating tail beacon, never turn that switch off. Leave it on all the time, then when you get out of your aircraft and see the beacon on, you know right away that you left the master on.
New title: "The Murphy's Law Adventure." Be safe guys. Better on the ground wishing you was in the air than in the air wishing you were on the ground. Thanks for posting real life videos.
Jonas has the old school wild man yet good pilot going for him. I feel like he is sometimes looked down on by other pilots because he does not fly by fear (good or bad thing). But I get Jonas, I know people like him, always excellent character but does things their own way, the wild man way. I like this guy.
Be glad those pedals went sitting on the ground. You guys are safely on the ground. Get them pedals fixed, replace that radiator and get back in the air!
Good thing you have tools, I know lots of people who carry none at all?! A leaky rad, and Trents broken rudder pedal however, is certainly in keeping with 2020 being a year that totally sucks!
Jonas ; Oh that's not good, there's a hole in my radiator...🙃 Trent ; I just broke my rudder peddle....🤔 Ty ; Hey Evinrude is running stronger than ever, you boys need a lift out of here.... LoL 😜😂🤣👍
Welcome to flying. Constant maintenance and cost. I know your pain. Us flat-landers love the beauty of the places that you guys fly although it scares us to death. High altitude above sea level and rugged terrain is not great for small aircraft. I have experienced almost every type of engine failure known to man in lots of different aircraft. At least in the Midwest we have lots of places to land safely if you have some altitude. I flew an Aviat Husky out of Idaho Falls airport toward the Tetons. Gorgeous yet scary. I have flown the Hawaiian Islands many times. It’s as beautiful as it gets although there is no place to safely land except the water. Then you have to swim to shore against lava rock with high surfs. I love the banter between you pilots. My buddies and I always harass one another. Love the video as I can relate to your challenges.

Guess you had Murphy with you that day. I’ve been boating for forty years and never had a problem because I’m super OCD about my maintenance. One day my Garmin craps out, my electrical main switch goes bad and then my lower unit takes a crap. All within one hour. Murphy’s law. :-)
A) You have a hand starter hanging on the front of the crankshaft. The three bladed starter will feel a bit more sketchy than a two blade starter - but it will still work. B) If the battery is too dead to pull in the master relay, you have to bypass the relay to get the engine to charge the battery. Then all will be good.
36 volt golf carts are mainly just 2 banks of three 12 volt batteries. You can still jump anything off, just be sure to hook the cables to only ONE battery. It doesn't matter which battery but pick only ONE. Now continue on your journey...
portneufflyer I didn’t look up the make and model of golf cart, I just said “mainly” so thank you for the clarification. So we can then hook to any pair of 6 volt batteries that are wired in series, correct? Making sure not to put the ground on the chassis of the cart. Rather on the battery itself.
@@Rick_Dunaway Correct, could be the last two, first two, or the middle two. Back in the day, golf cart batteries, were the best bang for the amperage buck on smaller off grid electrical systems, the reason being they make so many of them. And why I knew that!

Can't you prop those Rotax engines? Everyone is afraid of that but it's way safer than climbin on the tire with the engine running. I would practice that so you don't have to worry about your battery as long as your alt/gen system is working.
Yes you can. The internet "experts" claim you can't, but as I have demonstrated over on my channel, it just takes a brisk pull on the prop (there is no impulse on the magneto, so you can't be lazy).
Great look area to fly over / in. Hope you get the radiator fixed and replaced. Wondering if you are going to upgrade the landing gear someday? Take care be safe. "Spin"
I had a double hernia surgery years ago and Im a skydiver. Had to take time off for 6 months so my guts wouldn't come busting out on canopy opening shock. LOL...
Still need a spark to ignite the fuel. I'm not sure what the engine configuration is for Jonas's airplane is, but you can get that spark either from the battery (which is dead) or from a magneto (which is a coil system similar to an alternator). If his engine does not have a magneto, then no spark :(

I've got an awesome jumper pack that I use. I was able to start my 4 wheeler like 12 times on the thing, and my car 4-5 times with it. I started a Peterbilt with it once too. Expensive tho
No magneto ignition? That’s why you couldn’t prop it? If so, that’s why you should carry a small lithium battery to energize the non-magneto ignition system.
Good adventure I wish could actually be apart of. It's not the destination, but the journey. And it makes for good footage. But good thing she stayed home on this maiden trip. Thumbs up for using duct tape. Adapt and overcome. Last week the experimental Chevy igniter in my Toyota failed because the experimental heat sink was not adequate. Had to use a collectible stainless steel canteen from WW2 as a heat sink. The igniter was taped on to the canteen with Gorilla Tape. I was able to drive a long ways that way until the igniter began to fail. I got home and install the correct part. However, and unlike your adventures, the odds of crashing and burning were low. I guess that is in part of what makes your adventures interesting.
2 Oh Shit moments in one video! 2 emergency landings. It sure pegs the Fun Meter! It's nice having friends in high places! All jokes aside, I'm so glad it all worked out. Epoxy anyone?
Always carry alumaseal. That shit is bomb. I smashed my radiator once pinched the leaky cores and added alumaseal and it still don't leak. Three years ago. Get you out of a pinch for sure.

Try carrying a Shorai 36 lithium ion battery. It will hold a full charge for over a year or so, will start several airplanes like yours and only weighs 4 lb 13 oz. I have run one in my Vette for years.
Could have used the golf cart to jump it. It doesn't have one 36v battery, it probably has three 12v, or more likely six 6v batteries in series. Just hook the cables to one of the 12v or two of the 6v in series for your 12v, or if the plane needs 24v you could arrange the jumper cables for that also. Hopefully the poor dude didn't go lifting batteries after a double hernia operation.
