Simple suggestion. Next time you're in town go to the nearest toy store and buy some cheapo glow in the dark stickers. Then put a few on your bear spray or whatever else you think you'd need to find in the dark.

Little dogs have such amazing, indomitable spirits. The first time I hiked the Appalachian Trail in 1979, one of the hikers with whom I crossed paths found a tiny little mangy dog on a roadside. He nursed her back to health and named her Wayah, for a nearby mountain. She made it with him all the way to Mt. Katahdin. Rocko reminds me of Wayah. May she always hike her own hike, and be loved. Thank you for sharing her, and your adventures with all of us!

Foresty I thought I’d pop in to tell you about a life saver for pup’s paws in the snow! If you’re not aware of Musher’s Secret you should definitely look into getting some for Rocko! It’s a thin wax-like substance that keeps Ice from forming between their pads and also protects them a good bit! I just love her!❤️🔥🐾
I had a partner like Rocco for my hikes, but a wolf got him during a hike. He ventured off a little too far. Rocco is having a good life, keep her safe out there and always enjoy your time with her.

Welcome to Alaska!! Happy to have you visit, been to Nabesna a couple times, need to go back. The Skookum Volcano trail is a great one, but I know you like the ones that are less traveled. Although there’s not that many people on that entire road this time of year. Funny what food other people think of when they’re visiting somewhere, i live here and I have never had one of those pies. I don’t even recall seeing them before Lol
Thats very cool. I was in that part of Alaska in Early June. We drove down the Nabesna road to the first campground. We stayed for a few days. We then road our bikes to the third creek crossing before we turned around. Way too deep for our bikes. Met some locals and had some beers. You're lucky now you don't have to deal with the mosquitoes. Love the videos. Keep them coming.
You're a braver person than I am when it comes to tenting in the back country especially with a bear checking out your tent! The hike looked great as well as the exploring around the old mining, thanks for posting that too!

I agree with your love for the Fenix 7. However, beware, my menu button got stuck within three days of purchase. Secondly, I know you are private, but it's nice that you mention family in this one. Awesome! Thanks for the memories. Drove up the Nabesna in 1976, part of a 3 month trip in a 1959 Chevy pickup with a plywood "camper" built onto the bed. Four of us and 2 dogs. The, er, highlight of that foray was driving through a creek which rendered the brakes less than optimal. At the next bend there was a bridge over a creek with a good 5 metre drop to the water. I was in the "camper" tending my 1 y/o daughter when I was slammed against the front (luckily my daughter was in a pile of soft down sleeping bags). And more luckily, the wooden piling at the right leading edge of the bridge caught on the shock, which wrapped around the piling and stopped the truck from flipping upside-down (no doubt) into the creek. The shock bracket, that we'd just had welded back on in a small town to the south, held ... the new shock didn't fair so well. I have a great photo of my buddy using the come-along to winch the truck back onto the road. Good times! Wilderness adventure can sometimes be a bit *too* adventurous. Stay safe out there and keep making these great little films.

Yeah tent camping in grizzly country is a no for me! Anywhere else where bears arnt common no biggie but bear country and tent camping scares me
