It makes me sad at the lack of humanity our modern society has.I had someone post a sign while i was sitting in my van once, just after I witnessed a verbal and physical assault on a nearby vehicle. All these people roaming around in their vehicles should organize legally then spend time going to city and county meeting to bring enough attention to various locations around the county and have the government councils approve space for designated parking/overnight stay with rules to follow and penalties for those that abuse them. If an organized group pushes an agenda enough they will eventually either find locations sympathetic to the cause or simply convince local governments that it benefits their area. You'd ahve to produce a series of benefits to the situation. Otherwise this "van life" movement mostly comes across as vagrancy. Other options would be to find campsites that allow for vehicle parking and pay $2-$5 a night > like IDK a State or National Park. IDK about Alaska but in the US South East there a re a shit ton of State/National Parks with a range of campsite types. You are already not paying rent - so coughing up a few bucks to legally park somewhere over night like a Park is a no brainer.

    • @Aella-ny9hu
      @Aella-ny9hu 5 місяців тому

      @@uberfu You hit the nail on the head when you used the word "roaming". That says it all. These people , (van lifers/liv-ers), couldn't organize a one car funeral let alone lobby cities & governments to set up parking. They don't do it because they don't want to be organized or have any focus other than their own respective agendas, (& editing videos) & to brag that they don't pay rent. Ever wonder what the true cost of van life is with all the expense of driving around in heavy, gas guzzling vans? Gas is only one cost. What about all the takeaway coffee/fast food/paper towels, garbage bags, etc that are purchased. I don't know the last time you were at at State/National Park but I can tell you that the cost of running/maintaining any Park is more that $2-$5/night./vehicle; without electrical. In Canada we are paying around $30 & most park campsite roads aren't ploughed in the winter. If people can afford to pay $2-$5 for a cup of coffee they can pay $30 for a campsite. You have made suggestions that are nice concepts but I wouldn't hold my breath that anyone would seriously consider them because each Van Lifer believes they are special/unique & on a solo journey that doesn't cost anything to themselves. It does affect society when you get too many takers & not enough givers.

    Something that might help open up your sinuses in the winter is a small, humidifier. Just walk outside, scoop up a big handful of that pure snow, heat it up to room temp on your stove, pour it in the humidifier reservoir and turn it on. The humidity will also make the air feel warmer so you can turn the thermostat down too.

      More and more are being forced to live in Van's, motorhomes, trailers because of the lack of rent control enforcement. This what happens when greedy land owners start putting the squeeze on middle and lower class human beings. The rich trying to all become lords again..lol😂. Even RV park rents are insane because these giant motor homes with full house utility costs take advantage of full time living at RV parks and this raises rents!!! I was treated like a homeless person looking for a free spot to live. I own my own house but enjoy camping in my RV sometimes. The Forest Ranger rudely told me to just go online and book days at campgrounds. They’re always booked up about 9 months to a year in advance. I prefer to go when ever I feel in the mood and if the weather suits me.

We were allowed to actually stay in the hotel being we are from Trapper Creek Alaska, but we had our van that's weatherize to live in, so we just stayed in it for 5 days in that parking lot instead. A little tip for you next time you make bacon is to cook it in the oven in the same cookie pan you used for the crackers. Line it with foil and bake it on 400 for 15-20 minutes until its your level of crispness. Its evenly cooked this way and doesn't splatter all over the place. Also makes it easy to pour the grease out of the foil and into a mason jar for cooking later.

    Public lands In America are public lands. They are for public usage. The first laws are always what stand and are supposed to stand. A law is a decree and is never supposed to change from what was originally said. So again public lands are for public use.

      City land is not "public" land. And public land is not for mis-usage. I've only camped on BLM land once, (when canoeing the Green River), and it came with rules regarding fires, toilets, litter, etc. There are still rules for "public" land. BTW in Canada we don't have BLM land. In some provinces you can use certain "Crown Land" in others you can't. You really need to know what the rules are where you are & when too. If the first laws are the ones to always stand then the Indigenous North Americans would own all the land & you might not have a pot to pee in. Think about it.

I watch a UA-cam Channel that does something simular to the surgery that uses a baloon to open up that cartilage in the nose. The patient is awake while Dr does it. Looks pretty painfull. I'm a woos and I'd want to to be under. I have a lady friend who told me that if you ever just need a place to park over night for a few nights, she'd allow you to park there next to her condominium in Chugiak. She has a big parking spot because she is in a wheelchair and she uses the handicapped transit and that spot is only used when she's being picked up or being dropped off, and that never wouldhappen early in the morning. Neitherof us like to go out in the cold early in the day at our age now. We'reboth 62. She'd never ask for money from you to plug in to the electric for the night if you'd like to use it. She's one of the coolest chick I've ever met before! She's been my bestfriend for over 25 years now. I drive down and visit her once a month from my place here in Trapper Creek. We just sit around and get stoned and watch movies these days. We don't do as much getting out these days. It's much more fun doing indoor fun when it's cold outdoors. You can email me and I can get her phone number to ya, if this is something that you are interested in. fefi121061@gmail.com. I watch and always leave a thumbs up. I just had to say hey. It must be posted as no trespassing and or gated.....or you also have the right to do neither, and be an ass, and hire staff or yourself to wake people up early and ask them to leave whenever you want, like what was done here. If I had my way, there would be laws against this. No harassing people while on your land, from dusk til dawn, that you didn't post as no trespassing/gated off.
      If it's not posted with no trespassing, then you're not until you're notified you are AND you refuse to leave. THEN it's trespassing. Otherwise, millions of people would be committing crimes all day long hahahaha.
      A LOT of land we use is privately owed. It would be impossible to seek permission first, everywhere we went. MOST land we're on through the day is NOT public land.....and you're NOT asking permission to enter first, either....Next time to0 stop in to get gas, be sure to call the gas station, if you can use their private land to fill up.
      Next time you want to go to the mall, be sure you call ahead of time. Want to catch a movie? Call and ask before going in to buy your ticket. Want to go get some groceries? Call ahead to see if they'll let you on their land to buy some grub. Need some auto parts or oil to change your car? Call the parts store to get permission first.
      ALL these places are privately owned, sitting on private property. We don't need permission FIRST but if they ask us to leave, we need too, or we'd be trespassing private property if we didn't.
      Getting permission to enter private property first would be impracticable.

    I have no problem whatsoever with people camping in the city, or living in their car/rv. Once they start strapping wheelbarrows, tires, trash to the outside, and making the sidewalk their personal patio/bathroom, then it's a problem. It's not hard to tell who's being responsible and courteous and who isnt.

    • @Aella-ny9hu
      @Aella-ny9hu 5 місяців тому +1

      The fact still remains that van lifers/dwellers don't contribute to society/community for both the services they use in a city or taking care of their neighbour(s)/hoods. They don't even want to pay minimally for an RV site with no services & yet they are huge consumers/supporters of Walmart & Amazon. Think about it.

    • @BeaverSmashing
      @BeaverSmashing 5 місяців тому

      @Aella-ny9hu That depends on what kind of campers you're talking about. There's nothing wrong with being self sustaining and not living in an RV park. Many people who live that life work remotely, or travel to work in different places. I only have a problem with the hoarders who leech off of communities and trash them. Responsible van lifers aren't a problem, and Timmy is a perfect example. He's not full time, he has a house, but when he does camp in the F350 he's respectful and courteous.
