My first barrel proof bourbon was Booker's in 2014 and it blew my mind. I had no idea that something could taste so deep and intense. I've only had Bulleit Barrel Strength batch 2 and I remember liking it. A solid bottle as you describe it. And, it was only $30 at the time so it had that going for it.

I do keep it around to use in a old Fashion, proof and the spice does hold up in the cocktail.

Just got a bottle and to me it tastes like OGD-114 proofed up obviously and no nutty notes and alot more of that flavor from ogd turned to 11! Best I could describe it from the fresh crack.

I think the early batches (1-4, maybe batch 5) of bulleit barrel strength were four roses.

I started off with Bulliet, Four Roses SB, and Angel’s Envy bourbon, primarily for Old Fashioneds, when I first got into bourbon. Man how the times have changed.

Not sure why I don't have one of these. I guess the last one I finished just didn't get replaced. Gonna have to revisit a bottle at that price. Great vid!

I feel like this is a poor man's four roses barrel proof. It is just a little less on the nose and the pallet. Not a bad thing to be in my opinion.

How does this compare to rare breed and green river BP?

Sharper and brighter, I’d pick those two over this

I tripped on Wild Turkey Rare Breed right before stumbling headlong over ECBP C921 into the bourbon rabbit hole. Haha.
I like looking for older Bulleit single barrels. They can still be had pretty cheaply and get up there to 10-12 years old (sometimes you have to email the distillery to determine the ages which is... cumbersome). I have a 12 year-old "strawberry yeast" on my shelf right now and the juxtaposition of fruit and leathery oak is delicious.

I think the Bulliet 12 year is a much better value, and actually good…..for bulliet.

It’s gonna sit in the back of my shelf until I finally give it to a homeless guy.
