Recently played this game and fall in love with it. I used to speedrun SM64 and instantly woke my interest on running this game. I guess I need to switch from my default button mapping to this one LOL, its impossible to do all of these moves with the defaults.
Not atm, but we've always said we'd be open to allowing it if someone put a bit of time in to test it. Controller has some advantages over modded kbm anyway because the game sometimes takes control of the camera away from you.
I'm late to the party and i don't know if you will get back to me but does this have to be done on an older version of the game as i cant seem to do it on the newest version (though i am probably just bad)
Thanks mate for the guide. I'm about to start learning how to speedrun now. Does the display settings still necessary in the newest patch? Also do the glitches still work?
Display settings still matter, but if you run any% or a longer category your game will show settings during the bunker segment anyway, just make sure you aren't on fullscreen mode. The fps display is the only thing you really need to worry about. Everything in any% works on the newest patch.
@@2BsWraith It depends on the game. Automata has autosplitting and load removal, but it's about a 50/50 split with most popular speedruns. Anything done on consoles generally won't have autosplitting or load removal.
I guess the speedrun really needs a controller? I play NieR using a keyboard, but that then really needs FAR for some minor but very relevant bugfixes and even then it does not work perfectly. (For instance, I can only change the leftmost message post-death if I die while holding A (from AWSD), since the game somehow keeps the A input and moves the selection to the left permanently.) Also, the quick menu is really inaccesible depending on keyboard settings.

I'm not a speedrunner and I set Nines to passive anyway. He gets in the way a lot.
I grew sympathy for the machines and he just goes ham on them if he isn’t in passive so yeah

Is the NAIOM mod allowed for speedruns? I’m in general more comfortable with a mouse and keyboard tbh

Yes, everything works on those too. Switch is very low framerate so movement in the air isn't as good, but the same tricks still work
dash chaining Is posible on keyboard?
Yes, you can double tap a key to dash on keyboard or use NAIOM (a mod) to have specific hotkey for it.
Do runners always run this game on PC?
Mostly. Consoles don't hold 60fps so runs on those are slower.

NAIOM works very well for making automata play good on kbm
