Finally... Been following you guys closely since the Jak 1 WR doc and its been a blast so far. Looking forward to watching this channel continue to explode! Keep it up CC!
One of the most underrated UA-cam channels I’ve ever seen, your content is amazing dude! And you have a unique style! Really hope your channel keeps growing!
I love the fact that you don't use the same OST of Summoning Salt like every other speed running documentaries. Thank you for that decision. This is great. Far more energetic.

I was not inherently going to watch this, but after sitting through the entire thing, I am glad I did. Completing the PS3 version of Shadow of the Colossus was one of the most nerve wrecking gaming experiences I have ever experienced. It took me days to finish it, but it will remain as one of those colossus [heh... pun intended I guess] under takings that I'm glad I completed. Seeing these mammoths completed in mere moments is, honestly, breath taking to me. I will never understand the focus and dedication it has to "speed" through any game. Consider me enthralled through the entirety of this show. Hell of a good job sir. Thanks for sharing. :)
I hear you on the PS3 version. I tried on & off for 10 years to get the platinum trophy & by some miracle I pulled it off in December 2021. To make things even sweeter, I also got the Queen's Sword on the PS2 version within the same month. While colossus 4, 6, 15, can be difficult on Hard Time Attack, it was the 3rd colossus that was the main cause for all the frustration with it's time limit of only 5 minutes. Thankfully the PS4 remake gives us extra time.
That was so nice to watch, As someone who has been a part of SotC speedrunning history it was nice to rewind some stuff that I knew as well learning new things which I didn't know it was going on back then.
This is great! Really engaging storytelling and the narration was spot on. As someone who loved the original SOTC but found it hellishly difficult, these strats and times make my brain explode.
Hey man, just found your channel and I've been loving the content. I hope this video wasn't the last we'll see of you! Keep up the good work. Thanks for making this. I was inspired to pick the game back up after years.
We've been busy in the mean time, but we're coming back in a major way by the end of the month. And we're very glad to hear you were inspired to come back!
Our prayers have been answered! Also I know I've previously asked about future projects but I didn't expect the SotC video to come out so soon. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
This channel is so awesome! Thanks, man. Found it because I searched for Jak and Daxter. A lot of footage is super dark and I can’t tell what’s going on
Insane momentum going from the 16.xx to the 14.xx, kudos! (imo the avion wing jumps craziness are the coolest, pulled it once off myself back in the day playing the HD ps3 version but seeing it done by a pro is just formidable).
What an awesome video! It was so nice to see so many improvements, so many strategies, and that super jump + wacky jump damn!! You got a new subscriber
I do wish to say that these videos shouldn't just be for documentary's sake, but a public service announcement to all viewers, if you're interested in the speedrun history, the complexity of the run, or the timesave still left in these runs. Go for it. Make us all proud, Take on that fresh mindset, plus, SoTC especially is such a rich game of lore and theories, so even if you're not into the speedrun, the lore community over the 17th Colossus is a fantastic and honestly really cool place to be. Sincerely, an IL runner of other games, but has been watching SoTC runs/content since 2014.
i learned so many tricks but the most from sean, i have good times on every collossus close to world records but its so hard to do it all in a run compared to time trials
I'm still kinda new to the channel but have you ever considered a collab with Summoning Salt? You both are really good at what you do and it would be the crossover episode of the century.
I'm not sure how to explain this, but I think SummoningSalt likes to narrate his own videos, and I think they have slightly different preferences for what type of videos to work on. SummoningSalt for example seems to prefer more retro, and Nintendo based games, while SpeedDocs has done a lot of PS2 and the less common Nintendo games like Pokemon Snap and Minish Cap. I'm sure they know of each other, respect one another and perhaps even communicate but just have their preferences
This is a pretty good answer. Our original goal was to make videos on games that would never get a Summoning Salt video. A collaboration would be cool, but not sure how that could work.
@@SpeedDocs I'm glad we have you guys. While his videos are interesting it leaves a lot of games off the table, and besides there's more content overall if they're not working on a video together
nodding along at all these strategies and every so often i go "wait, thats not how you do it?" unfortunately im not good enough to pull off a speedrun (yet?), but it's fun to see how people come up with these tricks. good vid! cheers form brasil
I'm curious, have there been no runners attempting to take any of the newer strats back into the PS2 version to crack that old WR? Or have they just been proven unsuccessful?
Many of the old players migrated to the ps4 version and left the ps2 and ps3 versions aside, but although you can do some of these techniques there, it's much more complicated to do in the old versions.... ps2 and ps3, maybe some player takes them to the old versions, he would get some records.
Milktea kinda messed me up as that’s the name of a og smash player. I think she played peach. Not that it particularly has anything to do with shadow of the colossus.
As far as I know, I was the first player to discover the Quadratus hooves skip where you launch yourself off of Agro from a full run just as Quad is leaving the gate at the start of the fight. The ground is slightly higher outside of the gate and, if executed correctly, you are just barely able to grab onto the section of fur around his front left leg. The big problem with this skip is that, because of Boss Rush’s default start position, the skip was only possible in a full-game run.
Looks like I've got my work cut out for me. I've beaten the entire game on hard in just slightly over 2 hours. I've taken out colossus 8 in 46 seconds. I wasn't planning on trying to beat my own records, but now I feel the calling to try. Not sure I'll be able to beat the records shown in this video though. One thing has been on my mind recently...with "Death Stranding" & "Ghost Of Tsushima" getting a director's cut, could "Shadow Of The Colossus" be far behind?
Thank you so much for making this happen Speed Docs crew. I really enjoyed the video and loved helping in the process!

SOTC needs a proper ps5 successor

the way some of these jumps from moving body parts to the head makes it seem scripted. Is it?
