  • Bolivia is a multi-ethnic state with a population of more than 11 million people, almost 93 percent of which are Christian. The predominant language is Spanish but there are 36 indigenous languages which also hold official status. Quechua, Guarani and Aymara are the most commonly spoken. A country with a rich history and culture, though fraught with great suffering. The Catholic Church in Bolivia seeks to meet some of the challenges this nation faces. With very limited human and material resources, the Church in Bolivia is vibrant and she is a dynamic participant in the development of the country.
