What an absolute find, it’s older than me, I was born in 1953, when these vans were becoming popular. Look forward to seeing its restoration. 👍
cheers buddy.. 3 more to do first!!😮 but we will get there 😊
@@madworksgarage busy, busy, but your restorations are first class and getting more CAs back on the road. Look forward to your next resto. 👍
Very cool van looking forward to seeing you fix this one up
gonna be a long journey bud,but we'll get to it 😊
Fantastic looking forward to seeing Helga being brought back to where she belongs on the road again a true survivor 💗
we will do our best.. but not for a while.. but she will be rolling again 😊
So pleased for you mate, it was meant to be after all these years to get the Holy Grail and same day as your birthday, it was meant to be, nice one😊😉
cheers Andy, yes I think your right.. all that time just sat there waiting for Colin to find it and to bring it back to England 70 years later! wow 70 years old!? 😮 come and see it.. when you get 5 buddy 😊
@@madworksgarage is your road still closed, tried the other day and blocked, wasnt sure if i can get to you via the lane opp cemetery in town.
No open now buddy
Much respect to Colin for transporting it over to you. Looking forward to seeing it sorted. 👍👍
agree.. Colin is an absolute legend.. theres slot more to the story.. but Colin would need to tell you that.. I'll ask him to make his own video maybe??? cheers for all your support 😊 John and benny
The only thing I know that is earlier than that is me; a day older but that same vintage. These vans were everywhere when I was a child and I played with them as Dinky Toys. No wonder you are excited having a full size example to play with.
yes looking forward to starting on it but it's going to be a long wait,as I have 3 more to do first 😮.. but we will get it done.. just keep watching and supporting us,as its you guys we do it for 😊
Brilliant John! I'm really looking forward to seeing this restoration.
gonna be a while buddy but we will get to it 😊
I'm glad you have it, because I know you will love it to bits and probably fix it up, after all, it is a true survivor. It belongs to be back on the road.
cheers buddy, yes we will restore the van back to its original colour and condition.. all we need now is time and money.. but we will get there.. 😊.. cheers for your kind comment.. John and benny mwg
I used drive one of these when I worked in Oil Works in ICI Billingham. If the doors were open on a warm day and you had to break suddenly, they would fly shut like a guillotine! Very reliable van if properly maintained.
cool buddy, yes to there great fun in the summer, didn't you know you can strap the doors back? some had handle straps and some had auto catches.. save getting your fingers chopped off or your foot! 😂 cheers
@@madworksgarage Thanks for the info. I used try and keep the doors closed. Bit of a bummer on a hot summer day! 😂
Looking forward to seeing it 🤗
me too mate,but a long way off.. 3 others to do 1st 😮 😂
Excellent, looking forward to the next episode.
gonna be a while buddy.. but keep watching.. lots of other content on its way... 😊
Seventy years old! Vans usually get worked to death so it's amazing there's anything left of it at all!
Yes I agree, the inside is very well preserved,I will do a walk around soon.. cheers john
What a great find 👍
cheers Ruben ☺️
I passed my driving test in one of these when i was 17 , when i worked for the co op , I'm 66 now many fond memories of that old girl ,freezing cold in the winter, no heater it was extra, 😁👍
Great to know this will be saved, I live in Norway and saw pictures of it, it was very uncertain as to what its fate was, luckily. its gone to someone who will not make a ratrod or other barstad out of it.
There should be a law stating " it's mine not yours" Nice one .
😂 one day maybe.. you never know what life brings..
Great score
Some years ago I sold a bedford TL spec lift to a bedford enthusiast in Norway.
Nice one.
To coin your phrase John “ incredible “ I sense quite a few years worth of video footage coming along , what a journey ,you gave a hint to a name HELGA 🤔 sounds appropriate .Looking forward to a walk round and engine video ( if it’s got one ) Well done on your purchase mate 👍( it’s mine all mine ) - lol 😂
yes.. we will do a walk around video as soon as we get time.. but after that it will be stored away.. as we have 3 more to do first 😮😂
Superb
cheers buddy
It doesn't look too bad a couple of number plates would make all the difference.
I wish mark! 😂
7/11 is also my birthday 🥳
another summer baby..🎉 thanks for watching 😊
I may have 2 16" wheels
well that would be fantastic mate,if you do? 😊
What part of Norway did the van come from ? Good project being such an early vehicle.
can't remember, but I'll ask Colin for you.. cheers
Will you be putting the evening news livery on it.
hi mark.. no not on this one mate
