boeniman He probably knew that his friend has one or something and thinks it's silly but don't want to say anything. Just a guess lol, kinda looked like something like that. :p
I'm an anime fan who likes Japanese voice actors and anime. I think it's totally fine to support what you like, share it and fan girl / fan boy with other people, but not force what you like to other people, or go crazy on what you like, like spending all your money and time on it. It's important to respect what other people like as well!
There's no reason calling yourself otaku in English. Thats just a sign of being a weeb. Like why would you use the japanese word? That doesn't happen with any other countries stuff. Like if you are a fan of tango you don't use the Spanish word for fan, same if you are a fan of tae-kwan-do you don't use the Korean word or with french film the french word.
I don't see anything wrong with calling yourself an otaku, a lot of anime fans use that word when they explain that they are really passionate about anime. Maybe it may sound like something a weeaboo would say but I think some people nowadays find every little way to call someone a weeaboo. It's a little bit sad to be honest
Judy I'm just on like a... crusade?! Since the use of "otaku" are so rampant in the anime/manga/other pop culture stuff-communities like thats what it means. But it's really just japanese for "fandom" pretty much and evidently these japanese people include everything from bugs to cars in the word otaku. It just doesn't make sense since it's not something people do with any other language and even to Japanese people it doesn't specificaly mean just that. I just think it's bringing shame to the interest in Anime and such. Like you have to explain "I'm not one of them though" every time it comes up.
Motorcycle Otaku has my thumbs up 👍 I am also saving up for a Triumph. I think this “fans can give fandom a bad name” is common globally. Example Rick n Morty is awesome, but, I dislike a lot of the fan base and their terrible, holier than thou attitudes.
Insect Otaku -- they raise their own insects, then they have them engage in duels to the death. Spiders, beatles, gotta raise em all. We have to thank them for pokemon/digimon/etc.
i'm a car and chika idol otaku, last year i was in japan attending some chika idol lives and i meet a lot of chika idol wota they were so friendly and kind, i really enjoyed those lives with them, They are really nice people :D also being an idol otaku it's super expensive! a NEET can't afford that kind of live (last year i spend a lot more money in idols than in my race car LOL )
I'm also a NEET due to chronic illnesses. I don't know how I will ever be able to take a trip to Japan. It has been one of the biggest goals in my life since I was 5 years old.
I definitely have multiple otaku interests but I really hate when otaku's are exclusive or leave people out, or bully people. That's so toxic and ruins the hobby
Call me a old guy Jpop Otaku i guess, I traveled to Japan from America last April solely to see my fav jpop star Ierei Leo live in concert at Nippon Budokan, in a crowd of 15K fans I can safely say I was the only non-Asian in attendance. a odd feeling to be sure.
0:57 they're great!! I'm a car otaku myself and I love cars since my childhood and obsessed with one ever since, including normal cars that some of us can't see anywhere else. For example when I went to Japan I was excited finding cars there that doesn't exist or rare in Indonesia (I love JDM cars!!) including kei cars which is normal for Japanese people's perspective but unique for foreigners like me and I only seen those primarily in Gran Turismo video games.
I'm autistic so if I find something new that I like I obsess of it for days, weeks or months at a time. Sometimes years. I learn everything I can about that item. I'm into a lot of things.
Tbh I think any fandom is ok for me. What I dislike are how some "outsiders" view that fandom based on societal conditioning and in turn dont even realize that they fall into a group themselves. That isn't to say that a lot of fandom isn't toxic themselves especially on the internet. I have a keen dislike for "SNS elitist groupies." That is because to them if a person isnt using some sort of SNS they are deemed to not have a social life or little to no friends. Which this is really a societal conditioning and those types of people have been brainwashed. There's more I'd like to say but this topic subject is just too big to tackle. In short I consider anyone who "genuinely" doesn't judge or push their prejudice societal conditioning onto another, a cool person. I definitely lean into the anime/game merchandise fandom. I dont watch as much shows as kids these days who are doing it to impress others with their total view counts but I do have it all from dvds, manga, games, figures, dakimakura, wallscrolls, etc. I also like good wrestling and am subscribed to NJPW. After all these years, I'm beginning to fall into fashion especially winter fashion, because Im not fit myself I look like any old passersby with a shirt/shorts/jeans but with winter fashion I can dress up to look like star.
En los subtitulos me aparecen solo el ingles, alemán y japones.japonés . Por favor podrían poner tambien la opción en Español ya que es junto con el English el idioma mas usado en el mundo tengan lo en cuenta.Gracias!!!
I sometimes get called a car otaku when I explain car stuff to someone who doesn't understand car stuff very well. I feel like it is actually kind of an honor to be called a car otaku. Sometimes I wonder how different my life would be if my mom didn't own a 1985 Nissan Maxima when I was a child. This is a video of that car: ua-cam.com/video/QOahUuoXUkE/v-deo.html It makes me wonder things like 1. Would I not be interested in auto repair if that car required so many repairs? 2. Would I not be interested because that car had features that were found in movies? I felt like I was famous when I was in that car. 3. Would I not have a desire to own a Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo? The desire to own one made me buy a magazine titled "How to get 450HP from a Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo" and I learned much about how computerized engines worked, and a little bit about the Nissan Skyline.
Lol I agree with how scary the Otakus who just breathe heavily and scream out things because you think they're in some sort of trouble haha (saying that, I'm almost at that level when it comes to fashion so...)
many of you dont know word Otaku?? wtf i know like 10 words in japanese total and otaku was probably first i learned. i think anyone who likes Japan atleast a little bit knows it :)
As someone who has kind of fallen away from that fandom, I do still support their ideals of Love and Tolerance. Bronies are deviant by definition, so a confused, critical eye is a very natural reaction. It's not a cult or criminal organization. It's people forming community from and unlikely common interest.
sam jair Otaku is an intense fan of something, weeb/weeaboo is someone who wants to be japanese/likes japanese stuff and presents themselves in a cringy way
No, thats not the same thing. Although people who use otaku outside of the japanese language are usualy a sign that they are weebs. Since otaku just means roughly fandom/collector and has nothing to do specificaly with anime, manga n shit.
I think it's more depht to it. Its not like nearly every person with a great interest in Japan, wants to live there or lives there already are a weeb. Filthyfranks weeabo song captures it pretty good. Essentialy obsessed with a imaginary version of Japan though and yes very cringe.
Loved the reaction of the one dude as you threw in "human body pillows" 😂😂 but his answer was pretty cool
boeniman He probably knew that his friend has one or something and thinks it's silly but don't want to say anything. Just a guess lol, kinda looked like something like that. :p

Daju I wasn't thinking lol, since the whole video was using the word. But thanks for letting me know.

Maria E Thank you for defending me! But I've alr seen so many cases like that so I just don't say much. I really appreciate your comment though!
I can't wait till I can understand them by myself. But I love hearing them speak.
same here
Do you put the captions on? It actually has been helping with my Japanese, understanding the sentence structure and leaning new words
OnlyDoniaUKnow, I was watching on my phone and can't do captions then. But, I do agree that the captions do help with learning. :)
Katrina Smith you can on your phone! On the top right of the video (when you tap it) there are 3 lil dots that lead to a menu which includes CC
OnlyDoniaUKnow Thanks!

Moist Von Lipwig poor insects!
SHINO!
"What type of Otaku are ok in Japan and what otaku do Japanese people *hate and despise* ?"
That description is a bit too much don't you think ?
i'm a car and chika idol otaku, last year i was in japan attending some chika idol lives and i meet a lot of chika idol wota they were so friendly and kind, i really enjoyed those lives with them, They are really nice people :D

1:09, the moment he said Vocaloid I was ULTRA surprised and happy!!!
I really liked the answer of the girl in the glasses at the end of the video.
0:57 they're great!! I'm a car otaku myself and I love cars since my childhood and obsessed with one ever since, including normal cars that some of us can't see anywhere else. That guy wants a triumph bonneville. We can be friends.
I'm autistic so if I find something new that I like I obsess of it for days, weeks or months at a time. Sometimes years. I learn everything I can about that item. I'm into a lot of things.
2:31 the japanese girl in blue is extremely attractive!!! wow

Hello from Singapore! I wish you'd have a great week =)
1:10 hi five from dude looked like barron trumps hi five :)
What if I'm a breaking rules anti-system otaku?
I'm a Japanese Games and Animation Otaku.
En los subtitulos me aparecen solo el ingles, alemán y japones.japonés . Por favor podrían poner tambien la opción en Español ya que es junto con el English el idioma mas usado en el mundo tengan lo en cuenta.Gracias!!!
I wasn't aware of Vocaloid still being a thing.
It's growing each year haha!
They even have a Hakune Miku racecar in the Super GT. xD
Vocaloid is still big in Japan, the western Fandom is what kinda died down over the years
I'm still a Vocaloid cosplayer hahaha
I still think I don't understand otaku as a word ...🤔maybe I'm a learning otaku ... I'm always learning how to do things
I sometimes get called a car otaku when I explain car stuff to someone who doesn't understand car stuff very well. I feel like it is actually kind of an honor to be called a car otaku.

Lmao I thought otaku meant just strictly obsessed anime fans
First :D best wishes.
many of you dont know word Otaku?? wtf i know like 10 words in japanese total and otaku was probably first i learned. i think anyone who likes Japan atleast a little bit knows it :)
I used to see dinosaur otakus, they collect a lot of dinosaur model and has a lot of knowledge about dinosaur than encyclopedia.
i'm mostly a vocaloid otaku/fan and yuri (Girl's Love) otaku... MIKU X LUKA!
Well I think all otakus are OK, just we have to respect others tastes and opinions.. I mean you can be not agree with them but just don't be mean
How about Kitten otaku? :)
I totally prefer when you ask japanese people in the street (and not in lolita school because it's one type of people)
those too boys are so nice!!
おそらくオタクでは虫と爬虫類系のオタクが苦手と言う人は多い気がする。d( ̄ ̄)
I am a maria nagai and ai uehara otaku
Observo anime pero no soy otaku
Siglo 21 weeb!
バイクの人どストライクだわ。( ̄∇ ̄)
To call yourself an Otaku is really cringey.
Grown men who are My little pony fans are creepy af, other than that I can't think of any other.
As someone who has kind of fallen away from that fandom, I do still support their ideals of Love and Tolerance. Bronies are deviant by definition, so a confused, critical eye is a very natural reaction. It's not a cult or criminal organization. It's people forming community from and unlikely common interest.
You will find grown men who are bishoujo anime otaku, they are similar to bronies.
Yeah, they’re cool and all. It’s only when they turn mlp into furry - that’s they crossed the line. 😬😬
That guy on the left was stylish af -- wtf is he doing with dakimakura?!
His outfit is so cool
I'm a Weird Satanist Guy otaku. Bowser is god! jk
Not a guy according to your name
Zestaru No, search for "weird satanist guy" on UA-cam.
Aldo Know as Weebs

Daju I never implied "every person with a great interest in Japan" is a weeb. I said pretty much the same thing as you but in other words. :3c
Zestaru "wants to be japanese/likes japanese stuff" thats pretty broad, I just narrowed it down.
