Uni fees in America can be manageable, but uni in America is pretty much a scam these days. Most of the time, your diploma is more of a receipt than it is job security; countless people go to school for years and get thousands of dollars in debt in order to get jobs to pay for the degree they don't even use. It's a broken system, and a *lot* of times, getting a good career going is more about who you know, rather than if you graduated Uni or not.
Unless they're studying in hard sciences, engineering or medicine, most Japanese graduates won't be using much of what they specifically learned either. Especially because Japanese companies expect new hires to start from the bottom and simply watch the people around them to pick up the skills while on the job. Many recent graduates of Korean universities have found it easier to find jobs in Japan than in Korea, precisely because Japan doesn't value the specifics of a degree as much. I think that is a good thing. University degrees are not vocational training after all. But it is bad in the sense that it seems wasteful for young people to spend several years and thousands of dollars into things that may be irrelevant.
Trevin Taylor If only there was some tool, some magic technology that made networking with other people easier; a tool that not only contained limitless information, but also connected almost everyone in the world, allowing for unlimited access to knowledge and connections for specific fields. How wild would that be? We could call it, "*The Internet*"
luapchalos I've got great news for you! This internet you dream of exists! However its invention has not changed things in the way you seemed to think it would. So what your saying is kinda ridiculous. Sorry. Hopefully you can try the internet some day!
Trevin Taylor It's worked for me :/ Though to be fair, they've also kept people suckered into paying $600 for a single textbook, instead of buying a .pdf of it for a fraction of the cost, so I can't expect much to change on a large scale.
¥500,000 is half of what I pay for University here in the UK (Like Cathy said). Of course, she still has the right to complain though, especially when government loans exist in the UK.
I'm from germany and it's true. It's really affordable to go to university espacially when you go to a public university...in my city(Hamburg) there are even public art schools where you can get a degree in everything involving it(arts, music, media, film, acting...etc.), because in Hamburg they really support something like that. Also there is this programm that when you start your studdies they will give you extra money to pay for your fees and everything else. You can get up to ca. 700€(which I guess are something aroud 800$ I guess)...but it acn become lower because you have to provide them your entire financal situation so they can check and calculate who much you are allowed to get(meaning do you have a job? How much you earning monthly? How much do you have know on your account? How much do your parents earn monthly, if they have the job? Are you only having a single parent, is there financial support from the other parent? Do you have siblings and when yes how many? How much child-money your parents get for each of you? Are there any savings? Or anything similar to that? And one of the most important question is if you still live with your parents or are you living on your own(do you also have roommates)? How much rent do you pay?(the housing question is also really important because when you live on your own your will get more money(for also paying rent, food and so on)For instants I want to move out in the middle of my studies and I might will still have a job so the money I get will be more but because I also have a job it wont be much depending on how much I earn and how much my rent will be). And only when you done and you got your degree, that is when you only are 10.000€ in debt to this organisation(which is fair because you definetly got more money from them while being in uni(somewhere around 700€ monthly lets say 6-8 semesters) and you can pay them back when ever you want(you don't have to give it to them all at once you can pay step by step) and you have as much time as you need(they will only send you reminders so you don't forget it but you basically are not really troubled to pay imediatley ALL the money they gave you. Almost everyone in Hamburg is using them to study, because they are easier to get financial support for uni than scholarship. But yeah long story short germany is really affordable when it comes to universities.😅😆
In the UK most common tuition fees are £9,250/$12,300/¥1,340,000/€10,500 a year for people living here. And up to 4x more for foreign students :( ...and yes most people never use their degrees. Our education system is so dated & a business like any other. You only really need one great teacher to teach the lesson to a camera once & the whole world could be educated. CAL (computer Aided Learning) & teachers available for questions from their homes. So many ideas to advance education, get everyone learning at a pace & in a way that suites them. But none of them would rack in the money like the current system does.
In Denmark studying in a University is completely free, and it can be tough to get accepted (rejected twice) but you can study a couple years in relevant academies for free and make it to university afterwards ^^' Currently studying graphic- and game design, while making indie games.
USA in state cost (discount price for public state university given to natives) 23-30k a year (just classes). If you are not a state native it's 40k range. George Washington University (Washington DC) is around 60k last time i checked
In france it is around 400€ per year as I recall, and it is almost exclusively paying for the student medical/health insurance. (I'm not talking about private school of course, but public university)
benjamin bouaoune > Yeah because private school in France varies a lot, between 4000€ to 13000€ (depending on what type of study you aim) (i'm actually trying to integrate a 7400€ one)
Yeah. I'm going to go to a small country college and it's gonna cost me about $75,000-$100,000 to go for 4 years. This is in the southeastern part of America btw, and a lot of us here are poor.. It's even more expensive for big colleges
In the US, I pay around $8000 per year for university. And for America, that's about as low as it ever gets. It is not unusual for people to spend $40,000 per year on school, especially private schools.
Didn't go to college, work in a family business on helping design and build backyard patios. I feel like I dodged a bullet compared to everyone who payed off or is in the middle of paying off student loans.
To go to the public University i attend in the US its around $5000 a semester which makes a year around $10000. That does not include living expenses, textbooks or dorm fees if you live on campus. There are options like government aid and loans. Government aid is only available to those who don't already have a degree and is need or grade based.
I'm wondering what the average income is in Japan for fees of 5 grand to be considered high? In the US, an in-state public university can be around $10,000 for tuition per year (not including room and board, books, etc), but that's considered rather low. A private school is around $34,000 a year on average in the US (and good ones are way more). I went to a public state school in my home state, and I worked through school, but I still have $20,000 in debt to pay off.
Omg and i thought the US was supposed to be a great place but dammmm, i am gonna stay in my country and study with my free education and cheap career schools 😂😂😂😂😂😥😥
haha I mean, every country has its ups and downs, that's for sure! This video and the comments are really interesting. It's cool to hear what it's like for everyone!
I do see where these girls are coming from, in that even $5-10k is a lot for an unemployed student to conjure up for school. But as an American it's hard for me to see their fees as a lot when most private universities in the US charge $50-60k a year... I wish my tuition had been $10k in comparison! 😅
In Sri Lanka the government universities and schools are free. Some semi government schools like Cathic schools the prices are just as closer to international school which depends on the school so from about Rs 30,000 - 300,000 per term. The private universities go from about 2.5 - 3 million. But the thing here is if yoi want to go to fashion school you dont jave much technology and the fashion game is abit closed off which is one of the reasons why i stopped fashion school after a year but i really want to go to Bunka Fashion College. Love the videos even your serious videos are fun to watch. CANT WAIT FOR MORE💕
im studying in UITM ( University Techonology Mara ) it government uni. which cost roughly in a year with school fees include hostel maybe around RM 3000 around 750 USD for me it quite cheap than the other university in Malaysia.
Zsore...you'll feel better knowing that you can navigate reality without having to prop up ideas with imaginary benefits. It behooves us to embrace the struggle
I wish I could go to university in California for less that $5,000 a year. After books and fees are added in it's nearly that much a semester, even in the cheaper Cal State system.
Man, fees in japan university is so expensive... The japan government should do a down payment to their university payment system. I'm very lucky we have that down payment system.
I'm Canadian. I live in Japan and have 5 kids who are Japanese/Canadian. As a parent, I'm very much focused on the costs of education. Japan is a much cheaper option than Canada, and my kids are dual citizens, meaning they don't get charged international visa student rates. Be grateful you live in Japan.
This is pretty cheap compared to the 'good' universities in other countries. If you're an international student, you pay around $5k a year in Japan which is abysmally cheap compared to other universities in Asia, or any country worth studying for an undergraduate degree. A good look into the data compiled from NUS (National University of Singapore, top University in Asia), you can see how generous Japan is with university fees. www.nus.edu.sg/oam/financialaid/financial-tuition-fees.html
In the Netherlands you pay arround 2100 euro for 1 year study. Normaly the study duration is 4 years and that makes 8400 euro in total. But you do not have to pay inmediately. You can dicide to pay every month a portion of 210 euro (1 year study is 10 month), so it makes a little fair for people that cannot pay these fees.
$7000 CAD is the standard tuition at the University of Alberra here in Canada. 🇨🇦 Oh and that's just per year, on top of that you have textbooks, train passes, etc. 😭
I´m currently studying in slovakia on a public university and it´s free, most of them are, but yes private univestities are veeeery expensive too here, but we have really good public ones. I will study next year in Hungary and there if your grades are really REALLY good then it desn´t cost anything. They have a minimum score what you have to reach and if thats lower than you have to pay fees, the lowest costs 106EU (124USD) whitch is pretty cheap but it´s a katholic university, if you want to became a doctor or dentist than it´s about 4300EU (4730USD) if professional plane executives than 7 284EU(8000USD) and these are nor for a year it´s /semester so it´s duble for a whole year so it really depends what you want to study. Yes they are pretty expensive, but private univestities costs about these prices duble or even triple. But in Hungary the public ones most of the time are much better than the private ones. In Slovakia on some univesities you have to pay even if your grades are fantastic. But it´s really rare.
Let’s just say here in the US, it seems that very, very specific certificates are respected. Not saying everywhere, but in fields such as Cybersecurity, you’ll be very well off with specific certificates, and if you know how to use Linux very well. Companies pay a lot for people who know how to use Linux well.
Mark Riley same goes with welding and certain types of engineering. I have heard the become a lawyer all you need is passing the BAR. But I dont know.how true that is.
In Poland universities are free and private unis have a fee. If you didnt get to your uni because of poor marks then you can go for paid classes. I study pharmacy and 1 semester cost 3000 $ and medical course is about 5000$. For us it is expensive but we have a lot of foreigner students.
In Mexico, public University can be really cheap. At least in my school, a year costs around 360 dollars, and I have some friends who even pay 150 dollars, it can depend on what you study. The university I study in is actually good and has a lot of international connections, so I can´t complain.
In Greece the universities are for free if you pass the exams from high school, but if you want to study something specific the private universities are about 5000-10000 euros per year. I feel really bad for japanese students.
Uniformity is a top priority in Japan, anyone who sticks out of the crowd is practically undesirable and discriminate. All the more I admire the Japanese who have the courage to live as "geeks" and remain true to themselves and I wonder how creativity can flourish in such a strict society. Fortunately there is still a student loan in Germany, so that anyone with university entrance qualifications could study.
I starting college next year here in the netherlands. I believe the fee is about 1500 euro/year which is pretty cheap from what I’ve compared it to in the comments here.
In my country we have public and private education, the government don´t support enought the public education (many people think It must be free because we pay a lot of taxes // the taxes are 19 % and you must pay for others)....If you have a house or car, you must pay taxes every year, which is completely normal, the bad thing is that if you have a car you pay more, I live in a country that produces oil but the rates are not reflected in it, it's gasoline more expensive in the world, there are checkpoints where you have to pay every certain kilometer and you also have to pay additional taxes, when you buy the car you pay a consumption tax of 10% on the value of the purchase). Public education is not quality, infrastructure is deficient and with the cost of living is very high, the minimum wage is a pittance, it does not cover the cost of living, unless in your family 3 or 4 people work, I must say that to access public education is difficult, in some you must pass a very difficult admission test, few enter and in some you can not access because they charge the same as in a private university. Private universities are good, there is an entity that loans money but they charge interest, they charge interest on those interests, so I think it's not good business, it's selling your soul to the devil, if you're lucky enough to get a job and study the You will achieve good things at the same time. It is not easy to live in Latin American countries, such as Colombia or Venezuela, but in general the system is unequal.
Still, this 500 000en a year is like 10 000en weekly. And it's quite easy to spend 10 000en in one night while going to the bar or club (beer about 800-1000en, club fee for about 2000-2500en, karaoke for 3h at night is for about 3000en). I know that students like to party :D but when you look at this from a different perspective, it's not so bad. In Poland whole 3 years at the private university is for about 450 000en. But we earn like 45 000en as a minimum after-tax xD But rent is the same as in Japan...
That's rough. Rather have interesting fashion and colors than smoker coworkers. The "going on a smoke break" gimmick multiple times a day at work. They Just disappear to smoke while non smokers work. Highly aggregating 😤
In Denmark it's pretty much free oo There are a few where you have to pay like animation schools and such, because they are so rare. But other than that they are free. I don't pay anything to go :'3
hey.. toronto.. its just bland bland bland "fashion" i wish there was a place like harajuku cause that's the style I love but I do feel stressed because I feel i'm being judged too.. but i just don't like north american fashion! and wow looks like things got worse in japan?!?!
hahahaha! I wish! My university in Southern California is Tuition: $1,940 per unit. Not per quarter. Not per semester. Not per year. Per UNIT! I'll be in debt until I die. Maybe I'll flee the country to Japan? Sigh...
Per credit means the same thing as per unit. Each course in the US is given a number of credits/units. Some courses are 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 (4 is the most common). So a typical course would cost $7760 because it is 4 credits/units.
Come to Austria, tuition fees are super cheap in comparison 400€/semester for Europeans :-) for others maybe slightly more expensive...still super cheap ;-)
I have to pay my university fee till 2027 hahahhaha .. I studied medicine in Colombia, y University was not the most expensive, and indeed the prices were not so high. Now I'm studying a master's course in Japan thanks to a scholarship
$5k a year for university is stupidly low, cosidering the garbage university system they have there which lets you graduate without even doing much. Hard to get in, easy to graduate ==
Ummmmmm sooo yeahhhh, i am gonna give up on my dream on living in Japan cuz of this vid 😂😂😂 lol. And I thought my country wass bad with financial stuff but dammm sooo muchh money for educationnn 😲😲, and Japan, for a country that is accepting of something as dividing like, (the lgbt community,) cant accept people for jobs cuz they are unique??🤔🤔 🤔 i cant help but wonder WHY JAPAN??
it can be very expensive to study there indeed... there's this japanese government funded scholarship for foreigners called MEXT scholarship. it's quite hard to get picked, but there are most levels of higher education tuition-free, and the government will also help you with living costs. So maybe do some research on it, if it truly is your dream to study in japan ;) and also, it seems to me that japanese culture isn't very accepting of anyone that stands out. even with the lgbt community, I saw this video on japanese people's opinions on sexuality, and barely any of the interviewees knew a single person who was openly gay or bi, which goes to show how hard it can be to come out in the japanese society. I do hope that they manage to be more open about these topics - and who knows they can finally allow some kind of civil partnerships and the like (hopefully marriage, of course)
Japan is not a country that widely accepts LGBT , in fact many of them don’t even know about it . Don’t be misled by anime , manga and all those fujoshis . They may not know about it but the younger generation is more accepting . Source : There’s a video about it on Ask Japanese .
i blessed the rains down in africaaa hahah yeah probably, cuz when i went to Japan i told them if from Africa, they were surprised and keep asking me why you're not black haha !!
I'm from Finland myself. About ten years ago I met someone online and went to see them in South Africa. Of course people assumed that they were black and my mother thought that they lived in mudhuts and had elephants roaming the streets or something. Then again I was asked in South Africa whether it was true or not that there were elves in Finland and people lived in igloos. The mother of my ex from Canada was quite surprised to find out how similar Finland is to Canada. Do you know the anime Little Witch Academia? I know that it's supposed to be a fictional world but it's like someone took random pieces of Finland and put them together in an odd way, or so it seems to me. hehe I've never been to Japan myself but I'd so like to go! It'll probably be a while before I'm able to. :(

I didn't expect university fees to be that inexpensive in Japan to be honest, in the UK it is £9000 a year which is around $12000

I´m currently studying in slovakia on a public university and it´s free, most of them are, but yes private univestities are veeeery expensive too here, but we have really good public ones. I will study next year in Hungary and there if your grades are really REALLY good then it desn´t cost anything. They have a minimum score what you have to reach and if thats lower than you have to pay fees, the lowest costs 106EU (124USD) whitch is pretty cheap but it´s a katholic university, if you want to became a doctor or dentist than it´s about 4300EU (4730USD) if professional plane executives than
7 284EU(8000USD) and these are nor for a year it´s /semester so it´s duble for a whole year so it really depends what you want to study.
EDUCATION THRU US MILITARY POSSIBLE, IS IT AVAILABLE IN JAPAN
Japan is demilitarized. So no.
PITY. I GOT GOOD EDUCATION IN ELECTRONICS.
There are currently 23 US military bases in Japan
I'VE BEEN TO 2. WE NEED TO KEEP THEM THERE, HOPE THE LOCALS IN JAPAN FEEL THE SAME.
Yes I got my degree while in the AF. You have many options. Most of the time you are sitting on your butt so take advantage of the system.
In Mexico, public University can be really cheap. At least in my school, a year costs around 360 dollars, and I have some friends who even pay 150 dollars, it can depend on what you study. The university I study in is actually good and has a lot of international connections, so I can´t complain.
ask japanese about the world football cup
Colombia,Senegal and Polonia
The school I wish I could go to costs over 60,000 a year.
XD HOW CUTE.
Here in the UK as a normal British citizen I have to pay £9250 around 13k usd. Luckily I live at home so I have no accommodation costs.
Hm 4,500 per year. Here it is like 20 grand plus for many public schools.
Ask Japanese about the latest hair trends (bangs, no bangs, curls or no, etc.)
In Brazil is more expensive than in Japan. :( Sadly.
Oh... Its really expensive, in my university my fees in total for 3 years is 2 700 euros.
Mr 5hadow our company is smoke free
In Denmark it's pretty much free oo There are a few where you have to pay like animation schools and such, because they are so rare. But other than that they are free. I don't pay anything to go :'3
hey.. toronto.. its just bland bland bland "fashion" i wish there was a place like harajuku cause that's the style I love but I do feel stressed because I feel i'm being judged too.. but i just don't like north american fashion! and wow looks like things got worse in japan?!?!
yah.. it sucks.
hahahaha! I wish! My university in Southern California is Tuition: $1,940 per unit. Not per quarter. Not per semester. Not per year. Per UNIT! I'll be in debt until I die. Maybe I'll flee the country to Japan? Sigh...
Shanna Livermore OoO whats per unit mean if you dont mind me asking?
Per credit means the same thing as per unit. Each course in the US is given a number of credits/units. Some courses are 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 (4 is the most common). So a typical course would cost $7760 because it is 4 credits/units.
Shanna Livermore OoO oh wow I didnt know that. Thanks for telling me. Seems like a lot of money for tuition.
Did you get burial insurance with that because you will be dead before you pay off your debt.
25k a semester for Ringling School of Arts...
Here in finland university is free and bank pays for it but it depends.
370€ every semester... though most of it (~250€) goes to the public transport ticket #Germany
I really miss the Gyaru Style. :/
Come to Slovenia we don't have university fees :)
Loli death confirmed..... What about maids?
Come to Austria, tuition fees are super cheap in comparison 400€/semester for Europeans :-) for others maybe slightly more expensive...still super cheap ;-)
University tuition fees of course ^^
Uni in japan is wayyyy cheaper than my country, thats good because i want to study there anyway
If that were the case, they would have no engineers building the best automobiles in the world.
So maybe do some research on it, if it truly is your dream to study in japan ;)
and also, it seems to me that japanese culture isn't very accepting of anyone that stands out. even with the lgbt community, I saw this video on japanese people's opinions on sexuality, and barely any of the interviewees knew a single person who was openly gay or bi, which goes to show how hard it can be to come out in the japanese society.
Japan isn't your dream utopia. Stop trying to project what you like in a country. Nowhere is perfect
The university is relatively cheap compared to uk (minimum of £9250 per year)
I spent around $6489.00/3 years in Indonesia 😅
"how much do you pay in university fees a year?"
"about $4500"
*cries in American*
5k a year sounds really cheap
I wonder how much the big girl on the right spent on her costume...
Ask youth if theyre religious
Most are not.

ask japanese what they know about Africa ? onigaishimasu
They probably know that it's a Toto song and the continent wherein Wakanda is located.
i blessed the rains down in africaaa hahah
yeah probably, cuz when i went to Japan i told them if from Africa, they were surprised and keep asking me why you're not black haha !!
you will make it to juapan someday im sure you will :)
