  • Blanca Peak 4x4 and hiking trail is known to be a brutal and difficult… it was. A stock Jeep Wrangler JL Rubicon and a stock Ford Bronco Badlands Sasquatch take on this trail with a brutal reputation. Jeep VS bronco, will we make to the end? Well, yeah, we’re Mallcrawlers so of course, but we won’t make it unscathed.

Hey guys, I’m excited for this one as I haven’t seen it. Of note, Drew had 13 hours of footage to sort through and my narration GoPro didn’t record audio. Drew fixed all of that… that’s why he’s the best editor around! Also, unfortunately I’m working 12s every day so I likely won’t be in the live premiere, but Drew should be using the mallcrawlers account. I’ll get to your comments when I get off and after watching myself. Also, I normally don’t do this, but please like, comment, share, watch to the end… all revenue from this going to Drew! Thanks for being great subscribers to this channel!

Our club has sponsored that trail for over 20 years. Drive it with companions, drive the proper equipment, show it the caution it demands, and above all please respect the environment around you as you ascend and descend. Pack in, pack out, stay out of the wetlands. It’s one of the most iconic trails in Colorado, help us keep it open.j

Love the video. Growing up I did this trail with some uncles and cousins. It was a guys trip and it was definitely a memorable trip. We still talk about this trip to this day and the trip was back in the '80's. At that time we did the trail in K5 blazers. Don't know if I'd attempt it now but it sure looks like a heck of a trail. It's amazing to see and to know that I did that trail. I do know that a 4x4 magazine also did an article on this same trail and rated it as extreme. Great stuff guys!!!!

True, We considered some of that when we filmed and knew to some degree outside of having a 2dr on 33s and a manual it would still have some differences. The automatic definitely helped the Bronco but the video documents the story of how the trail went for us and the vehicles we had available to us. I agree, we tried, but due to the trail’s reputation… only Davon and Drew showed up. Not many will take their stock 50-60k vehicles on this trail and that’s what we did here. We are also not a comparison channel, we make trail guides with stock and modified SUVs and that’s what this was. It was also filmed when there were hardly any Broncos out there (Davon was one of the first to get his) and we had one person who just took delivery of an Xtreme recon. He was coming when it was his modified g wagon, but then backed out when he got the Xtreme recon.

I thought your video was really good but the comparison was a Hmm. If your going to compare the two brands, then at least do it with 2 four doors on the same size tires or 2 two door versions. Only this way can the data not be biased. I've had have 3 Rubicons (2 two doors and now a gladiator), a Toyoda Tacoma four door truck, a 4 door ford half ton, 2 dodge diesels and a couple sws with independent suspension, which all have their ups and downs. Thus, I personally think overall matching lockers versa standard 4wd, especially matching wheel base and tire size to give the best overall comparison. Cheers

You have a very good point. We considered some of that when we filmed and knew to some degree outside of having a 2dr on 33s and a manual it would still have some differences. The automatic definitely helped the Bronco but the video documents the story of how the trail went for us and the vehicles we had available to us. Zak now after 2 years of waiting finally has his 2dr Bronco so I'm sure it will be in future videos.

This was filmed when there were hardly any broncos out there. Davon tried recruiting the few broncos out there at the time. I tried recruiting Jeeps. Pretty much all our wheeler friends were scared of this trail. Even a stock yet brand new 392 Xtreme recon who was onboard for a while (also just released). I’m mostly disappointed I couldn’t get another Jeep. Unfortunately this trail has a nasty reputation among Colorado wheelers. Still, almost every channel does apples to oranges comparisons including our local auto reviewers TFL… but we aren’t a comparison channel. We make trail and overland guides (filmed, but not edited yet) so trails are the focus here. However, I’d argue traction is traction and you get to see two stock vehicles, one with solid axles and another with ifs vehicle on a nasty trail. Not many people are willing to take their brand new 60k vehicles somewhere like this.
