i'm considering the traveler. it'd be nice to have collapsible but having a place to nest the pipe and spark arrestor, plus the ease of set-up seems better imo. plus the size is still small enough to be portable without sacrificing too much cook space. thanks for showing them al side by each. makes it easy to make an informed decision!

    Thanks!!! Great points to consider.
I think titanium not holding heat is an advantage in that it’s going to cool faster for packing up.

A larger stove with less woodcutting is perfect .Would warm the smaller tent quicker. All the collection is awesome. Glass stove is nice watching the fire inside. The heat transfer theory is ideal for a hot tent.

I’ve been looking at some of the “cheaper” alternatives and found they don’t come in that much cheaper as many of them come with a hefty shipping fee (at least to where I live, in Norway). Thanks for a thorough and helpful review of all these options.

Hey brother, thank you for all your reviews. Love the info you provide without just skimming over the details like a lot of channels do.
So I’m looking for 2 stoves. One would be for my short school bus I’m converting to an rv, it’s roughly 125 sf and about 6.5 ft tall, insulated. The main thing is getting one that’s going to keep the bus warm enough, and second would be how many times I’d have to fill it throughout the night lol. There were 3 from the video that looked like they might work, the dweller, the ultra, and that new double stack one. In your opinion what one would suit my needs best?
The second stove would be for a small sauna and I’m not sure how the glass would hold up to water being splashed on it, if it might be better to stick to a small cast iron instead. The sauna will also be in the bus and doubles as a shower so the portability of these stoves is what caught my eye. And if I could possibly use one of these stoves to serve both functions that would be even better.

  • @Alex_Janito23

Made a point to talk all about the heat transfer through the glass but barely mentions that it also allows the light of the fire out into your tent area which is very very useful. Personally i made a stove out of a 50cal ammo can for about 150usd and am currently working on a 40mm ammo can. Its long enough to put entire split logs youd get from the store into which is why i chose to build it after the 50cal can. I was able to build in 2 baffles aswell and it really seems to help with the back section from failing to burn. Really pulls in the air to the back

I have a canvas wall tent, about 12’x9’. Very heavy. Car camping only. Would a small, flat top, cast iron stove work as well or better? Plenty of room in an 8 foot pickup bed. Does the frost line act the same in this kind of tent?

  • @J-S2014

Great video I can swear by and say steel and stainless steel stoves do hold heat but will not heat a tent in cold they will however hold heat and help in a small camper truck or rv anything insulated switching to a stainless instead of steel or titanium thanks

Thanks so much Jeremy, really appreciate your in depth explanation, very helpful. My head was starting to spin with all the stoves that Pomoly has come out with within just a year! In the meantime I will use my Kni-Co stainless steel stove until I can afford a lightweight titanium for non-truck camping. I did not know that the heat transfer through glass instead of steel was greater, never had a fireplace. That is great information, thanks again. Hopefully my maiden hot tent voyage will happen this year and all goes well. Atb 👍🏕

In a larger stove like the Ultra, can you cut round logs short and load them left-to-right instead of long-wise and light them in the back, causing the wood load to burn slowly forward, to get a really long burn time?
Would that work or no? Just trying to maximize burn time and not have get up as often at night. I've seen this suggested for full-sized stoves for homes/cabins and wondered if possible? Maybe the Ultra is still to small to pull this off?
Don't own a stove and trying to research it. Hope to pull the trigger on one and a tent soon!
Good video. I have been binge watching a lot of you videos of late. Thank you for all of the great information!

  • @0623kaboom
    @0623kaboom 2 роки тому

I saw a video a few years ago that showed primary heating zones in various shaped structures like a cone a pyramid a box a dome etc ... funny part is a cone pushes heat low down sure and thus it gets hot easily .. by a dome tent actually makes air currents and adjusts the heat to an even temperature with the hottest portion being between the top and the middle .. NOT at the top as expected ... but below it ... a box house style heats the roof and slowly works its way down and a pyramid is similar to a cone except it only makes the heat flow in the top 1/3rd which means the bottom will be significantly cooler ...
    .
as for the double floor or false floor ... removing ash away from your combustibles allows them to burn down fully at all temperatures and provides for easy clean up ... you can literally pull out the ash pan with the stove running and go dump it out in the snow and replace it and not need to let the stove cool disassemble half the stove and then got take the whole thing and shake it out to clean it ... btw any double floor stve without an ash pan that can be removed while the stove is in heat is a bodge job ... (bodge a job not done correctly but made to look good and get a job done with no added bonuses )

Personally - right off the bat - I got the video paused @ 1 minute into the video - just by the size and shape - I would say the one on top on the furthest right looks like the one I'd go with. It's nice and big - and at the same time it's shape is done in a way where it looks like it would work really well and effectively - and not be too cumbersome to fit in most tents!!! That is the one I personally like the most first impressions before even hearing a single word about them.

  • @jricks31
    @jricks31 3 роки тому +1

Respectfully disagree. SS will continue to produce heat for a limited after after the fire burns out. This heat transfer will be longer than titanium. I do agree that the amount of heat may not be significant enough to heat the tent enough to not wear jacket. However it will be greater than titanium. Great video.

    Hello Jeremy,
1st of all: really great content and awesome footage!!!
After watching your videos, i decided to go with an Pomoly T1 Mini + Stovehut 70.
I have just received my T1 Mini. Shipping (CN to AT) was fast (7 days).
So far nothing was missing or has been damaged during transport, but ...
on many bends there are a lot of cracks (i guess prduction defect/incorrect processing).
My worry is, that the hot/cold changes will increase those cracks and the stove will be unusable in short time.
Do you also have such "bending-cracks" on your models?
    BR also a Jeremy XD

Do you do any ice fishing at -20F? At the moment I use a couple a couple of buddy heaters but that leaves all sorts of condensation inside plus the open flame is always a bit of concern with carbon monoxide. I recently bought a nuway which I'm setting up my 6 man shelter to use. Do you have any experience with using a wood stove in an ice fishing tent? If so what are your thoughts on that?

That Timberwolve stove if you load it with wood how often do you have to load it to keep a tent warm at least 50 degrees when then outside temperature is 10 degrees

My thoughts a titanium with a pellet hopper would be a long slow advantage for night burns, not sure this brand has that option

The "T bird ultra'double wall is a gAsifier it burns smoke
It runs hotter 700-800 degrees and 300-400 in chimney it is the best stove you own. It is most efficient and most dangerous and needs a triple wall 3" passthru designed for pellet stove .
I have a Deerfamy double side wall it is best bang for buck but the gasification poses real hazards for those unfamiliar with the hotter stoves
