Funny enough I was playing Spit Out The Bone last night too. And this song is no joke, you will wear your right hand out. And I play it with a pick since it sounds better. I’ll end up putting my own bass cover one day too.

lorcan Fitzpatrick bass smart man. Some songs just fit way better with a pick. And this being a fast song it’s better for precision to play along with James. I’m not sure how you say it in music terms. But like Disposable Heroes, Whiplash, Metal Militia, Dyers Eve, Fight Fire With Fire are songs that sound way better with a pick because of how many notes it has. I play with both my fingers and pick. So it helps with what sounds better.
Bass sounds better with a pick if you're playing metal.
Allen Delise not always. Plenty of great metal bass players play with their fingers. Geezer and Steve are perfect examples. It’s about what style and tone fits the song the best.
@@bassican7 One of the first songs I learned on bass was "The God That Failed". That doesn't sound right with fingers, just like how Iron Maiden won't sound right using a pick. Its all about what sound you want

While I love Robert Trujillo work with Infectious Grooves, it wasn’t until this I appreciated his work in Metallica
he also gets a mini bass solo in this song, which i dont think ive ever heard in any other metallica songs where the bass gets it own solo, with nothing else playing, that isnt an intro
