- 2nd clip is really loud compared to others. My mistake :P
Today we are here to show the bass solos performed by the 3 most iconic bassists on Metallica through the years since 1983. Obviously it doesn't contain every single solo.
Timestamps:
0:19 Cliff Burton
3:47 Jason Newsted
11:56 Robert Trujillo

Jason Newsted was absolutely brilliant In Metallica from 1986 until he departed from Metallica in January 2001
unlucky talent in the sea of arrogance
Cliff has the most distorted tone out of all of them
And the best bends. How tf on a bass?
@@joelbelec9032extremely light gauge strings the thickest string is only like 90 or something
@@whyjermeysocute Yup. I put the same gauge of Rotosound 35-90 strings he used on my 4 string just to try it out and it unlocked basically a whole new world. As an aside those strings are fantastic lol
@@UltimaJC I also use them and you’re right it does unlock a whole new world it can definitely spice up your playing style but I do like the strings Jason newsted used too the hard rocking steels
Cliff will always be remembered
All of them have such distinctive styles that set them apart from the others, Cliff was more technical, Jason was melodic and Rob was the funkiest but they’re all fucking awesome
What I loved was that people started clapping during Cliff’s solo during the Roskilde Festival, it shows how much a bass/bassist can be loved
R.I.P Cliff
didn't know that jason can slap like that
He slapped in Cure from Load as well. Song is pretty bad but it does has this fact
@@Ryu_Akeoh cool
Cliff Burton rest in peace 🪦 February 10 1962-September 27 1986 he tragically died in Sweden 🇸🇪 while on With Metallica he was their second Bassist from December of 1982 until his death in September of 1986 he was twenty four years old when he died.
Rip cliff🪦
Arguably the best bassist of the 80,s
@@xmancampNo he was not, but good for Metallica.
@Rottenjuice-nz8px very bold opinion, who do you thinks better?
The best metal bassist
@@GoozeEggzEllefson, Bello, DD Verni, Steve Harris, and that's only metal bass players
St. Anger.
Роб - отличный басист, очень техничный. Но, увы, кроме пары риффов он ничего особенного не дал металлике. Говорю, как фанат, но не фанатик
If i’m being honest I prefer Jason’s bass solos over cliff’s… cliff’s are awesome and shreddy, but Jason’s are very melodic and soulful… the same goes to Rob
Agreed
Cliff is THE bassist of all time
Jason Newsted was a good replacement for Cliff Burton
Cunning Stunts is the best Newsted performance

The truth is that as a bassist I really like Cliff's, solos but I like Jason's more since they fulfill their function and sound like a bass solo, while Cliff's sound more like a guitar solo.
You know its gonna be a good time when BWAAUUGGHHH!
Robert Trujillo became the bands new bassist In 2003 and recorded st anger after replacing Bob rock and Robert Trujillo went on to record and Release three albums with Metallica Death Magnetic in 2008 and Hardwired To Self Destruct in 2016 and more Recently 72 seasons in 2023 which was last year
A couple of missing cliff solols that ought to be here
London 1984
2nd Gig Anesthesia 1983
11:25 i love that tone!! bro is beating the shit out of those strings
Ron Mcgoney was the original bassist in Metallica his first gig in the band was on March 14th of 1982 and his second performance in the band was on March 27 of 1982 and the first performance on the band on October 18 of 1982.Cliff Burtons first rehearsed in Metallica was on December 28 1982 and his first performance was on March 5th 1983.Jasons was on November 7 1986 and Bob rock played only three gigs as well and Robert’s first performance in the band was on March 27th 2003 21 years ago
How many times can I put Robert’s 2004 solo on repeat 👌so juicy
Newsted is the best
Cliff and jason had more distrostion than robert
Would cliff had made a good guitarist? I feel like he shreds really good in bass and would be good at guitar idk
He could write guitar riffs. He played guitar to write stuff
Ngl, Robert had better solos than both Cliff & Jason. He’s a more versatile player imo
