Great video very detailed. I ran across this video because I'm very new Inkspace and I was looking for slice a part of an image to use, like a ball of yarn i want to slice a heart of the yarn to use. I hope I'm explaining this correctly so that you can understand what I'm looking for.
So I have tried to do it multiple time with a background of a mountain and it just is not working I'm using a print font not a cursive font I've tried everything please help me if you can!
Wow, I love the explanation.... one question, I tried flipping horizontally, but when I printed my image, it came out regular ( not flipped) I want to transfer the image to a tumbler as sublimation, tia!
I just wanted to say thank you for a clear and slow tutorial on how to do the slice, it is very clear and easy to follow. Do you have any more Inkscape tutorials? I am very new to all this and I'm trying to learn Inkscape but a lot of tutorials out there are just to fast or not very clear.
I tried this on mine. I have version 1.0 and when I try to do the difference of the two it keeps saying that one of the objects is not a path even though they are. did you run into this problem at all. I followed her step by step and didn't miss anything.
@@truthbetold7170 sorry, I didn't run into this problem. I would suspect that you didn't delete the original image when you traced the bitmap (since the new image gets layered on the original), but the video covers that, so I'm not sure what your problem could be
Hi Wendy, I love ur videos and am a new sub. I’m wondering if u know how to take the font from a downloaded image . For instance if u google kaboom clip art. How do you get just the letters or the whole word from the image? I would be so grateful if you could help me with this. Also if you know of a video that shows how to do that it’s fine too. But I just understand your videos so much better and can follow along very easily. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge. Take care
Great video. Would have had a little more impact had you shown a colored background to stress the point that the words are cut out. It's like a stencil then. (after difference).
wendy im learning to use inkscape.... why would it not let me us the trace bitmap feature. i click on the image and then try to trace but the tracing window does not come up. I've used it before and now it won't do anything. Please help
I notice your text letters are all connected. I'm assuming this is how a path is created. What would I need to do if the letters are not connected to each other? Thank you for a great video
Doesn't matter if the letters are connected or not. Just click path -> Object to Path while your text box is selected. Each letter will be a separate path. Drag a box around them all to select them and click Path -> Combine, or Path -> Union and they'll all become one path, just won't be touching :)
For whatever reason this isn’t performing the difference. It keeps coming up saying one of the objects is not a path. Please help. Also, how do I attached an image I want to you to look at and help guide me on how to execute it in Inkscape?
Maybe you already figured this out but in the case anyone comes here and still doesn't know... make sure you stay with the nodes selected when you select everything THEN go to path and difference. Don't use the selection tool. Just took me so long to figure this out!
I love how clearly you explained and how it is so easy to understand. Thank you :)

That is awesome, I’ve been needed to learn the same thing. Thank you
Great tutorial. Thanks.
What's the difference between saving as plain svg vs inkscape svg?
There's no difference both save as .svg format
Nice video I do have a question. What if you used a picture with more colours what are the bitmap settings than? Like a photo.
I'll have to move to a state like Texas. It's easier than Hawaii. : )
Ooh, you're the bomb, lady! (My silly way of saying: Thank! You!)
Thank you! This was very helpful!!
thank you for this video. saved me a lot of time!

Everything is working perfectly fine but unfortunately that stops when I get to difference
Shame as it's a really good video

this is waaay too much haha. i have ubuntu but want a program like ms paint
what's wrong with ubuntu ??
nothing, it's great! but you can't get mspaint for it, so that's why i'm looking for something like that.
