    They are typically operated at "periscope depth", which allows you to track them while they're moving under the surface. They can, however, dive quite deep, and I've personally taken many of my models deeper than 10ft with no issues. I recommend that people stay within a few feet of surface, depending on the clarity of water and how muddy/weedy the bed of the pond or lake is.

      Can it be operated over Ultrasonic Transducer freq's? Meaning: if I've a Watertight Remote' and trying to run an R/C underwater, instead of using Radio, using Ultrasound to give it commands?

    Congratulations for the superb job! The model is already amazing, and after you converted it into an R/C operated one, it became mind blowing!

    I believe in the show they had some rig hooked up at the front which released soap bubbles and it gave the illusion of it powering through the water.

    This adult-kid-who-loves-movie-miniatures finally coughed up the money for the 39" movie version of the Moebius Seaview . Imagine my delight at discovering your SUPERB video-tutorial on the RC conversion of your TV version Seaview. I have no experience with RC models and shudder to think of what might transpire if I attempted to follow your example. You set a great example for fans like me, though. Thanks for sharing your hard-won experience with this professionally done video.

    before my pool got sabotaged by some weird neighbors, I had planned to look for a sub model of "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" Would have been awesome!

  • @RCSubGuy

    You got it! The entire submarine floods except for the electronics areas. That allows for more flexibility for trimming, which is a huge issue with this tiny sub (well.. tiny by my standards, anyway...)

    shared with Google+ loved that show "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" with Richard Basehart and David Hedison used to watch it obsessively when I had a pool. I want so badly to build a seaview! posted here about 1 year ago had thought of this idea of building some kind of Seaview RC since 4 years ago when I had a pool ,but still plan on building one when I can find a place to run it. would like to even mount a camera in the view port area when submerging in a fish pond, though don't know how Koi would take it may scare them. would be a great way to record images of Koi from a scaled perspective of a 1/72 scale or so view port.

      An old drinkin' buddy of mine wrote the novelization of "Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea" -- Ed Waldo was his name, and he and his beloved Jayne taught me how to properly enjoy Campari! (Went by Ted.)

    • @WilliamRWarrenJr
      @WilliamRWarrenJr 5 років тому

      Ted and Jayne taught me "The Foolproof Sturgeon Alarm Clock" -- you get one of those reliable kitchen timers that turn lights on/off, calibrate it so you're *reasonably* sure it's accurate, plug a toaster into it and set it, push the plunger down, and then put a $5 Bill in the toaster (or more, depending on the importance.). Then you set your *bedroom alarm* for five minutes earlier than the toaster. *IT WORKS!!*

      Oh, that's right ... we have robots now. It *still* works!

    These models of the Sea view are supposed to have eight windows in the front of the sub. Not 4.

    • @RCSubGuy
      @RCSubGuy  Рік тому

      One is from the movie. One is from the series. Both are correct.

    Question: Even if radio control won't work underwater, *is there an analog sound-pulse system nowadays that could transmit rudder or dive plane or ballast commands to return the sub to the surface where the radio works?* If not, why don't you make one and get rich quick? (Remember *I* asked the question.)

    • @WilliamRWarrenJr
      @WilliamRWarrenJr 5 років тому

      Actually, if you were sending sonic ping commands to the sub underwater, that would revolutionize the game, huh? Make sure some kid's wind-up tin toy or a duck farting doesn't hijack your boat ... on the surface, you're GOLDEN but if you came up with a reliable sonic response unit that wasn't confused by shrimp or duck farts, you could actually *navigate* like a submarine! (Dead reckoning)

    If it was a real sub, do the fixed planes at the front to lift the bow up on plane? Like a hydroplane for when it's on the surface?

    Hi BoB, I was reviewing your video and it was just now that I noticed the rear dive plane control horn was outside between the skeg and right pumpjet nacelle. Isn't there enough space in the skeg to put in the control horn?

    • @RCSubGuy

      @@RCSubGuy thanks Bob. Plan to build mine like your exponentially difficult hull separation instead of David's top hatch. Could always convert to that later. Btw, the view deck was it sealed or free flooding?

    • @RCSubGuy
      @RCSubGuy  Рік тому

      @@coast219 Free flooding.

    • @coast219
      @coast219 11 місяців тому

      In David Merriman's recent post in the forums he notes that the model no longer need the manta ray dive planes. The fixed vanes in the nacelle are sufficient to counter the bow down attitude. In your opinion would the model still be controllable with only the stern planes, no bow or sail planes?

    • @RCSubGuy
      @RCSubGuy  11 місяців тому

      @@coast219 Yes, absolutely. With properly fitted and implemented rear dive planes, the depth and attitude of the boat is controllable without forward dive planes. The pitch of the boat would simply be large as depth was changed.

    • @Hendo56

      It was from VOYAGE, believe it or not. Second season, episode 1. However, the producers decided they didn't like it, so Paul Sawtell's SEAVIEW FANFARE returned for all the other episodes. However you will hear parts of this as "mood music" in the shows themselves.
