Part 3: Georgey’s Interrogation of CypherDen.
Ok this tops my girlfriend’s and my story. I love this first meeting story! My story is that my girlfriend and I went to the same high school. At least for the first semester of the year we met we shared a bus route. A mutual friend introduced us and, I guess, added, for an ice breaker, that we both were into Fruits Basket. I noted that she had the latest Fruits Basket manga and…I have no idea, to this day, why I did this….I stole the book right out of her backpack……I also, for the life of me, don’t understand why she let me get away with that. In fact, for the entirety of our friendship this did not stop. I would consistently be in her backpack or purse for some reason and she would absolutely let me. I did ask her later if this ever bugged her and she point blank told me that it never occurred to her to be offended by it. It didn’t bother her ever. I also never did this to anyone else, ever. Anyway, so yeah. I would constantly be in her bags throughout our high school friendship. For context, we never dated or even were on the radar to each other as dating prospects back then. Oh, many were convinced we were dating back then because I was very clingy (another thing that didn’t bug her if I did it…weird again) and was rather open about my sexuality. Again, I did this to absolutely no one else ever. We had a talk about it at some point and realized that, in a lot of ways, we were each other’s exception when it came to things that were usually absolute no’s from us coming from anyone else. So yeah, we did have a discussion, as friends, at some point to discuss what was ok in boundaries. Conclusion? Very few. And those got loosened further after graduation and we realized we had switched from just friend love to friend and romantic love for each other. I point blank skipped the pining part once I figured that out and asked her out. Took her a second and then she said “yes, I love you too”and we decided to date. It was so matter of fact it was ridiculous. It’s now been 10 years. I guess we did eventually date like everyone thought we were. We both still swear by it not being a romantic attachment back in high school but yeah, I guess something clicked that day we met. That….or she has a thing for thieves…they are usually her favorite anime/manga book characters after all 🤣
A relationship based on awkwardness can stand the test of time.
