5:00 did you not replace the metal ring with the plastic one? It saves you pins when you are putting on the wheel to the base since it is tapered and can go in crooked without that spacer
Been watching your videos for a long time and just realized I'm not subscribed. Sorry about that problem fixed! You and Boosted Media are my go to driving sim youtubers. Keep up the great videos! Always learn a lot!
5:00 - looks like you did not follow the installation instructions. The metal washer used with QR1 must be replaced with the plastic washer included with QR2 wheel-side.
For that shot, I quickly attached the QR on several rims to film with the white background and as such, didn’t bother to change out the washers and bolts. Dumb oversight on my end but in actual use, I did make sure to use the correct washer and bolts 👍
It’s crazy that Moza uses a 35 dollar quick release mechanism that’s seamless. I’m good on fanatec and their pricing model with the bs qr2 and boost kit
would qr2 lite limit the torque on a cs dd(+) base. and if not would it be limited if u use for example csl grade wheel like mclaren gt3 with normal qr2 on cs dd(+)? its really messy now trying to understand fanatec rn
0:01 & 04:59 Why are you using the metal washer and the old screws on that wheel instead of replacing them with the new plastic washer and smaller screws which come with the QR2 like you seem to have done on other wheels correctly? By using the old stuff you damage the Base-Side QR2 everytime you attach the wheel and this damage is not covered by warranty...
Currently all my quick releases are un-attached from my rims since I’m swapping them out for filming. For that shot I just placed it on there for filming with the white background (not racing) and as such, didn’t bother to change the washers and screws. Dumb oversight on my end but figured it didn’t matter for just getting b-roll footage :/
I've had a csl dd for like 2 years, and it has broken. I was planning to get a new one with the great deal going on now, but having to spend $150+ to use QR2 turned me off of it. Now I'm thinking about getting the new CS DD and the csl elite v2 petals
@@johnzome788 all of a sudden the ffb cut back to like 30% of what it was. I have the 8nm and now it feels weaker than a g29. I've tried everything software wise, even set it up on a new PC, but it is still weak.
You mentioned the QR2 base side is made from carbon infused plastic. I thought both options of the QR2 (base side) were metal with one being a full cnc piece (pro) and the other being cast. Am I mixed up here?

@@Daz5Dazthe qr1 lite is absolute dog though so that’s not surprising, mine used to bend and slide off of my wheel base shaft, instantly went and purchased the qr1.
@@goldsnafu QR1 lite is a bit shit yes, just in a different way to the standard QR1. The problem with the metal QR1 is that it could not cope at all with manufacturing tolerance issues - some people had a rock solid QR1 and others had a sloppy, knocking, mess. funny when you see they hold the ar lever back to fit the wheel. there a reason for the tapped shaft it so you have to pull the lever to fit the wheel.
My first CSL DD 8Nm burned itself after 2 weeks. I received the RMA'd product (new wheelbase) yesterday and tested it today for 2 hours. Suddenly it disconnected mid-race and after checking the wheelbase, the usb-connector in the QR1 base-side had bent and destroyed. What the fuck is going on. I hope QR2 fixes this. It's my only option next to a full-refund.
Just get the chinese qr2 wheel side. They are literally the same quality and fitment. 0 issues with 150$ less in cost. I personally have 2 of them. Your welcome.
I was hyped for the QR2, but when i saw their pricing i just went nope. Their qr1 is hot garbage compared to competition, has plenty of issues, and should have been discountinued as soon as qr2 released.
@@johnathanmoyer2375no one should be content with the QR1 and that is OPs point. It should’ve became the standard that QR1 said it was. No one should have a QR that can shorten the lifespan of the main product
I can‘t recommend the qr2 lite. It started creaking extremely loud out of the box. Went away when I bought the metal QR2 (from aliexpress). Fanatec will never see a penny from me
I gave up on Fanatec when they went bankrupt and went Moza. That wheel base runs better to me than anything fanatec has and its options are much better to me
QR2 is not an upgrade and will not improve your sim driving performance. Actually is just a new way of wheel/base contact and frankly, will prove to be inferior to QR1 in the long run.
My QR1 has play between the base side and the wheel side. As tight as it gets, the machine tolerances leave 1/32" to 1/16" of play. When the torque is quickly bouncing left to right I can feel it plain and obvious. Feels cheap and shitty. Maybe you got one that turned out tighter. Maybe you just don't pick up on the sensation. But a lot of us have shitty QR1s and it is due to the system design. QR2 uses slope and wedge shapes that automatically pull dead tight. You may personally be happy with your QR1, but QR2 is factually an upgrade. It's obvious in the design. Shouldn't be an upgrade purchase, though. Should be a free recall item, as their original design was faulty. Consumers don't seem to hold companies accountable these days, though, so here we are having to drop $200 to make the product how it should've been out the box.
You don’t need to pull the collar when attaching the wheel. Just line it up and push it in.
Only need to pull when releasing the wheel.
Fanatec really should throw in a QR2 wheel side or at least a 50% discount with the purchase of a wheel base and a wheel.

What about the base side for the “new” (whenever they decide to start shipping them) clubsport DD.
For this they should have included option to have shaft extension so people can mount monitor between wheel and base for fov

how to put a QR2 on a aftermarket wheel?
You didn't align the clamp even close to how it should be and you forgot to switch the metal thin ring with the new thicker plastic ring on your wheel
