Even they start selling the ones with ffb for this price you can say that. Until then, they’re just giving the bottom of the barrel basic stuff for an almost reasonable cost & ridiculously overcharging for the good stuff. If it at least has a clutch they would have hit the mark at this price point, but they won’t even do that.
@@ImThe5thKingbecause I’d get one. I have one on my set up. Most set ups don’t come with a shifter, you almost always have to get them separately. it’s just nice to have the option. I personally like to use the real world configuration to the car.
Beware of this hobby! One day you buy yourself a G29 on sale for $200 "just to try it out". After 2 days you return it and get yourself a DD2 bundle with 2 extra wheels, Prime cockpit, custom Sparco seat, 3 screens, 6 tactile transducers and a wind simulator...
Ahah i’m in this situation now, started getting abit more serious entering leauges an stuff and quickly realised these gear drivens are horrible. Iv fot the t248 and it’s just no where near enoufh for what i need, only had it a month now im going to go all out i think on a DD setup.
Just bought the bundle last Friday, should be delivered and up and running by Wednesday. Been looking to get a wheel for years and years and this got me over the line

@@sam78882 the PS5 compatible wheel base is the round csl dd, compared to the more roundish regular csl dd, the ps5 compatible one is not on sale at the moment and only cost more because the Sony licensing chip is apart of the wheel base. A sale will probably not be too far away but it will not be as cheap as this deal
i like that you're covering budget options as well, considering not everyone is able to splash 1k+ just to simrace, i can't overstate this enough, i find the simracing community to be very elitistic at times, some of us just want to spend as little as possible to give us a decent base experience, your channel gives just what im looking for, thanks a lot!
I feel you! I asked a question on r/simracing and the responses I got were ridiculous. I ended up buying my first wheel since 2005 - Last year, I got a Logitech Driving Force GT (it's old - from 2007) for $80 off of Facebook Marketplace and a sim racing stand by Vevor for $70 and I'm having a ton of fun. Is it a wheel anywhere as good as this one? - no of course not - can I run laps in Assetto Corsa at Watkins Glen in an MX-5 for an hour while my daughters nap and tune out the world & start practicing the craft- yes! Super happy with my purchase and I can't wait to buy one of these in another year or two when I can afford to splurge. This channel does awesome reviews that are practical for people that have to pay their mortgages/rent and feed a family/themselves.
I bought the basic logitech wheel, peals and shifter for 60 bucks around 6 months ago on ebay and i'm so glad i did. I already had a pc so it's the cheapest fun i've had with my clothes on. I'd highly recommend to anyone getting a basic set up just to get started, unless you're loaded of course but even there's a law of diminishing returns on investing loads of money in performance trems Most sim racing channels are geared towards more experienced racers and come across a bit elitist to me also. i think a lot of them get commission on selling us the newest innovations.
@@braveheart4603 i got given a g923 and am so happy ive discovered sim racing because of it, next step is to get some preowned t-lcm pedals and then later i will get a dd base and wheel.. if you can get a logitech wheel 2nd hand for a very good price its well worth it as an introduction to sim racing.. ive tuned all the rumbling out or down low so i feel every thing through the wheel... also try race room as its free and has very good ffb pn the logi wheels

For example, as a buyer (speaking of myself) I won't benefit from the current discount if the reason is that this DD is about to be replaced by a newer model that will pull the development efforts, attention and meant to have a longer support life span.

Being able to upgrade to 8nms is a big plus for Fanatec in my opinion. 5nms is fine but i get quite a lot of clipping with my CSL Elite when I'm playing ACC with steering that dissent feel particularly heavy. That said, I'm happy with my setup at the moment and will probably wait until it dies before i upgrade.

@@Percentifyy apologies! Yes they came in I believe three different different shipments with different tracking numbers. The biggest box was about 1x2 feet, smallest was like 6x6 in
Awesome news for the hobby. I looked at the R5 bundle and the CSL gear but sadly I couldn't find the Fanatec stuff in stock. Ended up with an R9/CS V2 from a local Canadian dealer. Will, you directly informed my decisions and I'm so thankful for that. Boosted 4 Life!!!
@@oreca07 So far I'm very pleased with it. I play mostly ACC, AC, iRacing and FH5. The software is pretty good/easy to use too. Getting it to work with FH5 requires a few extra steps in the setup but the other games were plug and play.
So, I just joined this party. I ordered the Fanatec DD bundle at the recommendation of a friend, and I received it a couple of days ago. Maybe I received a unicorn, but I don't seem to have any sort of flex issues with the mount between the wheel and base; however, it is mounted to my desk via the desk mount, so what flex might be there could be cancelled out by my squishier, more flexible mounting spot. I highly recommend, and I already tried selling another one of our friends on it. I'm glad I found your channel (albeit after the fact), and appreciate all the information you deliver about sim racing and the gear required.
I've been waiting years to get a DD and this bundle was the tipping point. Can't wait to try it! UPDATE: It came in and it’s easily the best bang for buck upgrade I’ve ever done for a wheel. Even at 5Nm it’s way stronger than the G29. I’m having a blast.

The only thing I like about fanatec is more bundle options. I didn’t like the pedals with the R5 bundle so I went R9 instead and it would’ve been nice to see more options or savings if you add more to make the complete 3 piece kit. That being said, in the last few years I’ve been considering a direct drive wheel, I’ve found the fanatec website super confusing (adding a bundle to cart was never easy)

The thing about the flexing of the shaft of the wheel. My racing instructor (real live racing with my car) He said “that is a wheel, not a thing to brace yourself with while driving. Don’t be pushing or pulling on it!” Just a little Pro tip. Cheers.
I have recently just ordered this setup from Fanatec. I have never owned a Race sim and I've been thinking about it for well over a years. It really was a no brainer at that price to jump into it. Can't wait!

That McLaren wheel is really a good value. I own both the Moza formula mod you showed, as well as the 300mm mod. That required purchasing two full ES wheels to use as donors. Both are extremely nice but when you consider the cost of even one full donor wheel price at $129 plus mod ($79 for 300mm) it is more than that McLaren wheel. Moza needs to start offering the button boxes as an option.
This has thrown a wrench in my plans. I hadn't intended to get a bundle, but the 5nm base by itself is $350, and for $50 more i could get the pedals and the wheel as well. Now here's the rub: other than the base, i won't use the rest of the bundle. I'm on Xbox, and plan to get the v3 pedals. So that means the pedals and wheel are going to be useless. I'm going to keep watching their pricing and availability for now, but i think it's interesting they've started aggressive price dropping, considering earlier this year they were in dire need of supply. Tough cycle. Dry availability leads to customers going somewhere else, the demand necessitates you build up your supply, but then sales fall off because customers bought the competition when your supply was low. I hope this doesn't lead to another dry spell later down the road.
..so was thinking about this, Sony must be charging Fanatec a huge licensing fee per wheel - apparently about 200 USD +/-, if this PC price is anything to go by. I doubt we will see a significant drop for the DD Pro sadly.
Yeah a PlayStation version would be wonderful. The Xbox I have is a 360 and it's collecting dust and my laptop can't really handle racing sims so I'd love to see one compatible with PS4/5
You could get the CSL DD bundle, then add a 90$ drivehub for Xbox and PS4 compatibility. For PS5 you also need a PS4 Hori Mini Pad for like 25$. It's the cheapest way to get compatibility with everything. I'm using my CSL DD bundle with a drivehub on GT7 PS5 right now.
With Fanatec, you buy the 8nm adaptor, the Load Cell pedal and you can actually upgrading your kit later. With Moza in this case you need to swap the base. For this price point and options I'd go Fanatec even if the quick release and the shaft are embarassing.
im hoping when they get qr2 out it addresses all the issues and doesnt cost more than 150€, i dont think anyone would like to spend that much per wheel just to avoid common issues :/
My club sport qr1 has no play or flex and no clicking noises!Recently purchased a second one and it’s perfect as well! All my Fanatec gear is just perfect! Apparently I’m the only one without issues haha
The price, along with being able to upgrade to a 8nm experience by simply buying the bigger power brick, makes choosing the Fanatec a no brainer to me.

Especially once I fully adapted from my 6 years of G29 gear use to DD sweetness. I had ot learn how to stop trying to stay on the top of the car so much. And rather react to it like I would in real life. Now, man, it feels amazing. Totally transformed AMS 2.
@@BurtSampson am currently on a g29. So bad lol. Drifting is impossible with it so I've just stopped with that, playing mainly f1 23 with it. But yea I'm gonna save for a DD from fanatec, the 8nm one. I did a custom setup thing in their setup builder, 1.6k AUD (1k USD). Pretty hefty but oh well. Will be well worth it that's for sure.
Pulled the trigger right as the deal went live. Finally made the switch from a Thrustmaster TSPC. Gotta admit, the difference is greater than i expected. Very happy with my purchase.
With Playstation compatibility being a deciding factor for me, here's hoping that the DD GranTurismo bundle sees a drop as well. Not exactly holding my breath :)
Well I’ve been waiting for a drop for my ps5 but it looks too far but the wheel and pedals are compatible with ps5 it’s just to choose a motor that works with them .
@@KurthardtJr I seen that you can get a brooks ras1ution 2 for all 4 of the Moza wheel bases and it will work on PS and Xbox. Unfortunately the CSL DD was not compatible. So Drive Hub will support CSL DD on PS5? I seen one video where you had to also purchase a Hori controller. Trying to play GT7 on PlayStation.
@@justincarver114Yeah, it should work on PS5 with a hori or nacon mini officially licensed wired ps4 controller. I'm using my thrustmaster tx with the nacon and GT7 on PS5
Good thing for the customers and the effect on the market. I had good experience with Fanatec products, but had issues lately, also with a brand new CSL DD 8nm. The customer support experience was not good at all, mainly because they seem to 'lose' emails and therefor not reply to everything I sent. I'm moving out of the Fanatec ecosystem (although I still think they make amazing products). The aggressive pricing might also be an indication that there will be a upcoming 'midrange' Fanatec DD unit, might be a Clubsport DD priced arount €800 and have something like 12-14nm? I'm just guessing (and hoping...).
What issues were you getting with the unit? I get vibrations through the base into the wheel even when no game is loaded on mine it’s really annoying, I’ve installed a firmware version I found on a forum but still feel it all the time
I love racing RC cars, but winter is brutal. No racing to be had in my area because we don't have any indoor tracks yet. Plus we only race about 2 times a month. So I have been tossing the idea of getting into sim racing around for a while. I think my mind just got made up. That's such a killer deal and with the upgrade potential it seems like a no brainer for someone in my situation.
Ordered mine after you posted the price drop last week. A friend of mine also got it a few months ago and had nothing but good things to say about it. I’ll be upgrading from a G29 I’ve been running for over 5yrs lol
I bought the CSL DD last year. Had it for about 1,5 - 2 months and then I switched to a Simucube 2 Pro 😂 Not because the CSL DD was bad. Simply because I fell head over heels in love with sim racing and now spend hours every day driving. So I wanted that extra power and speed of the Simucube ❤️
@@SeyePhithere is absolutely no comparison. Night and days between them. I mean the fanatec 25nm cant hold up with simucube…and it costs the same. Fanatec is just shit compared to the competition.

Hello manufacturers normally drop the price and flood the market when they are about to announce a new product. Probably something like a beefed up csl dd with the new quick release.

@@thrasherdave1428 Pedals were an obvious choice for me. DD wheel was in that phase of all these new brands and I couldn’t make my mind up. Ended up going with Moza r9.
Love the concept that you don't need to re-purchase the electronics to have different wheel shape. If they had some kind of quick release for the actual wheel instead of 6 screws, that would be equally fast to having full wheels for e.g. Fanatec.
@@JTheraos Do they have quick release adapter that allows you to easily replace the wheel shape (only the part that you hold, not the buttons or switches)? See the segment starting around 14:30 for details.

Phew! Looks like I made a good call the other day. Got my Fanatec 8Nm on order (w/ loadcell). Was really struggling to decide between the two or find info that definitively swayed me one way or the other. I decided for the price point the Fanatec was hard to pass up. Looking forward to the upgrade from my G29.

I just received my R5 today I was thinking of going with Fanatec but decided that upgrading the wheels or the pedals even to e-brake or shifter its less expensive going with Moza to me and the quality is great! If you're on the fence about the R5 don't be I came from the T300 and ordered mine from Advanced Sim Racing. They are based in Canada I'm in the U.S and I got it in 2 days with free shipping. I'm not using the pedals due to not having the brake mod yet cause it was out of stock so sticking with the TLCM pedals for now. The R5 I think is better than the DD if you're not playing on console keep that in mind.
Been waiting to buy the R5 bundle as my first racing wheel for a while, I thought it was better than the CSL DD at its previous price. But now I think I have to go for the CSL DD bundle, in the UK it's around £150 difference which I think can't be ignored. Being able to upgrade the brake to load cell too is a lot cheaper than doing the same with Moza would be. Plus the 8NM boost kit can be had for about £40 if you just buy a 180W power supply.
Moza is too small, because of that it overheats and loose force feedback partially. Fanatec is bigger only to dissipate heat better through it's radiator like built. Plus now in 2024 it has new quick release system installed on wheel bases and wheels, which is super stiff and holds really well without any movement like old quick release in this video. It also has 8nm possible upgrade. So fanatec bundle for $399 with new qr2 and 8nm upgrade possible is superior to moza and cheaper.
I picked up this deal and upgraded to the load cell brake. I was going to go Moza but this deal kinda solidified it. I haven't used a wheel in like 20 years with some old MS FFB Wheel I had. Picked up a Next Level Racing Stand 2.0. I also have AC, FH5, and NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered installed and ready to go! The Fanatec should be here Wed.
@@matthewbrennan6466 It's tons of fun but it's a money pit hobby lol. I had to get all the extras like a better wheel, shifter, handbrake, bass shakers, and wind sim.
While the R5 does have a number of things going for it, I'm going to pick up the CSL DD for a few reasons; 1. Having 8nm as an upgrade path without having to get an entirely new base is really nice. 2. The larger round wheel that it comes with seems like the better 'general purpose' wheel and is definitely more suited to rallying, which is my favourite discipline. 3. The pedals, out of the box, seem better. 4. The fanatec has dedicated ports on the back of the base for shifters and a handbrake. As I'll have everything set up on a wheel stand rather than a dedicated set up, only having to plug in one USB instead of three is a pretty nice quality of life feature. 5. Moza just isn't price competitive here in Australia. CSL DD bundle is $640 at full price with a very reasonable $32 shipping. The Moza is closer to $1000.
first of all: how's your 4090? :) got my Moza bundle for about 6 months. so, what I'm writing is based on this time frame and the ~6k laps in iRacing oval (ARCA, Gen4, Next-Gen and Xfinity Nascar). I truly like it. playing with 80% FFB and I still can handle the Gen4 ARCA car also without issue. I can feel when the back tries to "live its own life" and how tires are wearing. the only negative to Moza is that I can mount with 2 bolts only to the Next-Level F-GT as the 4 holes are not fully correctly placed :S the thing what you've missed to mention is the mobile app for Moza.
The base model priced at 400 makes every non DD logitech option a non consideration now. The g923 brand new sells for 400 itself and it's only a gear driven motor. Sure the g920 goes for 300, but why not just save up 25% more and get something far better? With the intro DD bundles getting more competitive in pricing, I wonder what brand will be the first to sacrifice quality to try and undercut the rest and completely ruin their customer reputation.
Im planning on upgrading from a g920 to either fanatec or moza very soon, and am leaning towards the moza ks with an r9 atm, but these bundles arent making it easy to decide lol
Actually the P1 V2 wheel has integrated shifter paddles with a stainless finish. The BMW rally wheel has removable paddles. That really only matters if like me you use the stationary paddles. That led to a problem with the initial DD bases, the shaft was too long without extra spacers and longer bolts. The QR2 has a shorter shaft and will be more user friendly for the stationary paddles. I know, I am the odd man out. Plus I use a CSL Elite until after the first of the year and I will be buying a new base, with the QR2. I will give my old QR1's to a friend that hardly races 30 times a year and might switch twice a year. I have never had a problem with my QR1's, but the new ones will be pretty much mandatory.
Honestly feels like a kick in the shorts. I paid around 550$ for the dd base with the 8nm upgrade. Because their wheels were so expensive I had to retrofit a trans am wheel I had laying around with 3d printed brackets and I had to make some pedals out of trash. Now I see i could have gotten a whole setup for allot less.... FML
Great video .. When you tested the Fanatec were you testing the 5Nm unit or the 8 ? and in your opinion would you say that the 5Nm is quite sufficient for someone stepping up from a non FFB wheel setup that I have been running for 20 years ? Thanks
Now that is an absolute steal!!! Good on them for the price drop, everyone needs to be able to experience DD and this price will help with that immensly. even if its only 5NM to start with, knowing you have the 8NM upgrade option is a bonus too. I just feel these will be out of stock for a while.
If you were on the fence between the R5 bundle and the CSL DD bundle, here’s your sign. I bought the R5 bundle at my local Microcenter and was severely disappointed. The base never felt right - it had this weird notchy feeling that others had experienced before. Nothing I did smoothed it out - firmware updates, reinstallation, tweaking the settings, nothing. And the PEDALS. The throttle and brake pedals in the R5 bundle are nearly identical with the brake just being *slightly* more stiff. If you purchase the R5 bundle you NEED to buy the optional dampener which my Microcenter does not carry. My G923 brake felt miles better. The simple foam insert on the Fanatec’s make a world of difference. I haven’t owned the CSL DD bundle for long but my experience is far better so far. And it’s cheaper now.

Bought the Moza R5 bundle based on your review and I do not regret it. Fanatec dropping the price says they probably could have sold this a little cheaper all along and chose not too, which is a big FU to their current and potential customers.
Actually their profit margin was probably low in the beginning because they didn't have the volume they have nowadays. Production is probably high now so they can lower their price because of the higher volume. Early adopters, like me, paid the "sucker tax" that helped pay for their R&D to create the CSL DD.
It seems to me that its a no brainer for fanatec here or am I missing something ? The bundle in 8NM (pedals + wheel + base) is cheaper than the R9 base alone. If you add pedals+wheel moza is almost 2 times more expensive... And also the option to add the load cell kit with fanatec. Please correct me if Im wrong
@@boostedmedia Thanks, I was considering buying one right away, but I'd love to see how it compares to Fanatic's wheel. It's cheaper and the wheel is probably mounted better so it won't wobble, but maybe the bigger wheel is worth the extra price. Or maybe having less mass will mean better force feedback! Also, I'd love to be able to hot-swap the wheel if I go for something other than the C5.
I think my Thrustmaster days are numbered, have not been happy with their customer service recently, reference me having to open my SF1000 Ferrari wheel to do a DIY repair. With my wheel still being under warranty I couldn't believe they did not exchange or let me send it in for repair. Seeing as though my T300 is over 3 years old now, I think it's time for a refresh with the Fanatec system.
I do want to say doe if you want a clutch and shifter knob Moza is by the cheaper way to go as they allow you to add it to their bundle for alot cheaper
Wtf do we need quick releases on sim racing gear? It’s not like you need to switch drivers in a car within seconds. They should just build the bases with a robust, absolute tight, less error prone mounting system.
I got the DD Pro bundle with load cell kit attached to my Sim-Lab rig, bunch of Fanatec wheels and its great with my PS5 VR2 setup but I am still thinking about this bundle to use on my PC in other room for casual games such as EUTS, ATS, BeamNG ... the clamp from DD bundle is unused so the fact its missing from this bundle is no problem. I dont have round 300mm rim yet so thats a nice bonus as well. The fact its rubber instead of fake leather is great as I treat my expensive Podium GT wheel in gloves only and sometimes, I just want to game quickly and eat at the same time, look at my phone, alt tab from the game and so on and this cheap rim would be great for those casual games and quick sessions. I'm really tempted to get this bundle but at the same time I think having two very similar DD bases is bit crazy.
The CSL-DD is finally entry level priced. Fanatec kind of has a history of dropping the prices of their entry products to bargin basement levels. When the Fanatec CSR bundle got dropped to $250 I ended up getting it. Before that, the Speedster 3 was cheap, and the PW 911 (the gear driven one) cost half of the PWTS at the time. This sort of price drop is not unusual for Fanatec.
@@citypavement From what I remember, that CSR bundle was a basic belt wheel over 10 years ago, and the Speedster was a freakin PS2 wheel so that's like 20 years ago. This deal here is absolutely great value and never before seen for a direct drive wheel. A good sale every 10 years and that guy says it's "not unusual" lol

oh man these bundle prices are making me sweat. I just upgraded to 3x 34" monitors and been looking to get a steering wheel for driving games (nothing hardcore) but its really tempting to just spend a little more on a DD setup then to buy some 300 euro wheel
My biggest hang up on the Moza system is the fact it's not console compatible. I've got a dated laptop that only really runs Automobilista (1) and FIA GT Racing Game to a point where I can play online and be competitive. But I have an Xbox Series S. I don't have the budget to get myself a new PC, a sim rig (I made the mistake a year ago and bought the NLR GT-Lite, it's good, but not for >5Nm DD bases) AND a DD wheelbase. what the hell? i bought my Logitech g923 a couple years ago for about 350, right before the DD came out. the DD alone, with no wheel or pedals, was 400. now the entire kit is 400?? man, im tempted to give the g923 to my brother and get a DD
For my needs I'm waiting for the dd pro bundle to drop. Preferably with a decent wheel rim. Or for moza r9 to support PS. I race serious on PC but with mates on PS for fun. DD getting much more reasonable tho, days on my t300 are definitely numbered
@@thrasherdave1428 i don't expect any pace improvement. Just immersion / enjoyment. And limited on PS as gt7 is limited in its physics anyway. But ACC / AC on PC should see a decent improvement

Trouble is, the competition is from China, the land of, let's be real, thieves and slave-drivers.
Even they start selling the ones with ffb for this price you can say that. Until then, they’re just giving the bottom of the barrel basic stuff for an almost reasonable cost & ridiculously overcharging for the good stuff. If it at least has a clutch they would have hit the mark at this price point, but they won’t even do that.

Beware of this hobby! One day you buy yourself a G29 on sale for $200 "just to try it out". After 2 days you return it and get yourself a DD2 bundle with 2 extra wheels, Prime cockpit, custom Sparco seat, 3 screens, 6 tactile transducers and a wind simulator...

@@sam78882 the PS5 compatible wheel base is the round csl dd, compared to the more roundish regular csl dd, the ps5 compatible one is not on sale at the moment and only cost more because the Sony licensing chip is apart of the wheel base. A sale will probably not be too far away but it will not be as cheap as this deal

Last year, I got a Logitech Driving Force GT (it's old - from 2007) for $80 off of Facebook Marketplace and a sim racing stand by Vevor for $70 and I'm having a ton of fun. Is it a wheel anywhere as good as this one? - no of course not - can I run laps in Assetto Corsa at Watkins Glen in an MX-5 for an hour while my daughters nap and tune out the world & start practicing the craft- yes! Super happy with my purchase and I can't wait to buy one of these in another year or two when I can afford to splurge. This channel does awesome reviews that are practical for people that have to pay their mortgages/rent and feed a family/themselves.
I bought the basic logitech wheel, peals and shifter for 60 bucks around 6 months ago on ebay and i'm so glad i did. I already had a pc so it's the cheapest fun i've had with my clothes on.
I'd highly recommend to anyone getting a basic set up just to get started, unless you're loaded of course but even there's a law of diminishing returns on investing loads of money in performance trems
Most sim racing channels are geared towards more experienced racers and come across a bit elitist to me also. i think a lot of them get commission on selling us the newest innovations.

Being able to upgrade to 8nms is a big plus for Fanatec in my opinion. 5nms is fine but i get quite a lot of clipping with my CSL Elite when I'm playing ACC with steering that dissent feel particularly heavy. That said, I'm happy with my setup at the moment and will probably wait until it dies before i upgrade.

@@oreca07 So far I'm very pleased with it. I play mostly ACC, AC, iRacing and FH5. The software is pretty good/easy to use too. Getting it to work with FH5 requires a few extra steps in the setup but the other games were plug and play.
Moza is better then Fanatec by a LONG shot Fanatec QR is trash check their forum LOTS of complaints. Good choice with the Moza R9 i have one to.
So, I just joined this party. I ordered the Fanatec DD bundle at the recommendation of a friend, and I received it a couple of days ago. Maybe I received a unicorn, but I don't seem to have any sort of flex issues with the mount between the wheel and base; however, it is mounted to my desk via the desk mount, so what flex might be there could be cancelled out by my squishier, more flexible mounting spot. I highly recommend, and I already tried selling another one of our friends on it. I'm glad I found your channel (albeit after the fact), and appreciate all the information you deliver about sim racing and the gear required.
I've been waiting years to get a DD and this bundle was the tipping point. Can't wait to try it!
UPDATE: It came in and it’s easily the best bang for buck upgrade I’ve ever done for a wheel. Even at 5Nm it’s way stronger than the G29. I’m having a blast.

The only thing I like about fanatec is more bundle options. I didn’t like the pedals with the R5 bundle so I went R9 instead and it would’ve been nice to see more options or savings if you add more to make the complete 3 piece kit. That being said, in the last few years I’ve been considering a direct drive wheel, I’ve found the fanatec website super confusing (adding a bundle to cart was never easy)

That McLaren wheel is really a good value.
I own both the Moza formula mod you showed, as well as the 300mm mod.
That required purchasing two full ES wheels to use as donors.
Both are extremely nice but when you consider the cost of even one full donor wheel price at $129 plus mod ($79 for 300mm) it is more than that McLaren wheel.
Moza needs to start offering the button boxes as an option.
The McLaren wheel seemed worthless to me as they were sold out of adapters that are included free. I just went with the f1 wheel for about 400$.
This has thrown a wrench in my plans. I hadn't intended to get a bundle, but the 5nm base by itself is $350, and for $50 more i could get the pedals and the wheel as well. Now here's the rub: other than the base, i won't use the rest of the bundle. I'm on Xbox, and plan to get the v3 pedals. So that means the pedals and wheel are going to be useless. I'm going to keep watching their pricing and availability for now, but i think it's interesting they've started aggressive price dropping, considering earlier this year they were in dire need of supply. Tough cycle. Dry availability leads to customers going somewhere else, the demand necessitates you build up your supply, but then sales fall off because customers bought the competition when your supply was low. I hope this doesn't lead to another dry spell later down the road.

..so was thinking about this, Sony must be charging Fanatec a huge licensing fee per wheel - apparently about 200 USD +/-, if this PC price is anything to go by. I doubt we will see a significant drop for the DD Pro sadly.

You could get the CSL DD bundle, then add a 90$ drivehub for Xbox and PS4 compatibility. For PS5 you also need a PS4 Hori Mini Pad for like 25$. It's the cheapest way to get compatibility with everything. I'm using my CSL DD bundle with a drivehub on GT7 PS5 right now.
With Fanatec, you buy the 8nm adaptor, the Load Cell pedal and you can actually upgrading your kit later. With Moza in this case you need to swap the base. For this price point and options I'd go Fanatec even if the quick release and the shaft are embarassing.
im hoping when they get qr2 out it addresses all the issues and doesnt cost more than 150€, i dont think anyone would like to spend that much per wheel just to avoid common issues :/

The price, along with being able to upgrade to a 8nm experience by simply buying the bigger power brick, makes choosing the Fanatec a no brainer to me.
Kinda hate how the power brick, probably manufactured for like 50$ is like 200$. Kinda ridiculous, but if it's what it takes I don't mind it.

So Drive Hub will support CSL DD on PS5? I seen one video where you had to also purchase a Hori controller. Trying to play GT7 on PlayStation.

Good thing for the customers and the effect on the market. I had good experience with Fanatec products, but had issues lately, also with a brand new CSL DD 8nm. The customer support experience was not good at all, mainly because they seem to 'lose' emails and therefor not reply to everything I sent. I'm moving out of the Fanatec ecosystem (although I still think they make amazing products).
The aggressive pricing might also be an indication that there will be a upcoming 'midrange' Fanatec DD unit, might be a Clubsport DD priced arount €800 and have something like 12-14nm? I'm just guessing (and hoping...).
What issues were you getting with the unit? I get vibrations through the base into the wheel even when no game is loaded on mine it’s really annoying, I’ve installed a firmware version I found on a forum but still feel it all the time

I love racing RC cars, but winter is brutal. No racing to be had in my area because we don't have any indoor tracks yet. Plus we only race about 2 times a month. So I have been tossing the idea of getting into sim racing around for a while. I think my mind just got made up. That's such a killer deal and with the upgrade potential it seems like a no brainer for someone in my situation.

I bought the CSL DD last year. Had it for about 1,5 - 2 months and then I switched to a Simucube 2 Pro 😂 Not because the CSL DD was bad. Simply because I fell head over heels in love with sim racing and now spend hours every day driving. So I wanted that extra power and speed of the Simucube ❤️

Hello manufacturers normally drop the price and flood the market when they are about to announce a new product. Probably something like a beefed up csl dd with the new quick release.

I rocked my g27 with HE Ultimate pedals for over a year until I got my DD. Don’t skimp on pedals, so worth it.

Love the concept that you don't need to re-purchase the electronics to have different wheel shape. If they had some kind of quick release for the actual wheel instead of 6 screws, that would be equally fast to having full wheels for e.g. Fanatec.
You can buy a quick release adapter.

Phew! Looks like I made a good call the other day. Got my Fanatec 8Nm on order (w/ loadcell). Was really struggling to decide between the two or find info that definitively swayed me one way or the other. I decided for the price point the Fanatec was hard to pass up. Looking forward to the upgrade from my G29.

Helped me to decide where to go to upgrade from Thurstmaster T300. Choosed Fanatecs-CSL DD READY2RACE BUNDLE FOR PC (8 NM) package as a PC player.
I just received my R5 today I was thinking of going with Fanatec but decided that upgrading the wheels or the pedals even to e-brake or shifter its less expensive going with Moza to me and the quality is great! If you're on the fence about the R5 don't be I came from the T300 and ordered mine from Advanced Sim Racing. They are based in Canada I'm in the U.S and I got it in 2 days with free shipping. I'm not using the pedals due to not having the brake mod yet cause it was out of stock so sticking with the TLCM pedals for now. The R5 I think is better than the DD if you're not playing on console keep that in mind.
Been waiting to buy the R5 bundle as my first racing wheel for a while, I thought it was better than the CSL DD at its previous price. But now I think I have to go for the CSL DD bundle, in the UK it's around £150 difference which I think can't be ignored. Being able to upgrade the brake to load cell too is a lot cheaper than doing the same with Moza would be. Plus the 8NM boost kit can be had for about £40 if you just buy a 180W power supply.

I order a fanatec bundle last week and so excited for it!
Moza is too small, because of that it overheats and loose force feedback partially. Fanatec is bigger only to dissipate heat better through it's radiator like built. Plus now in 2024 it has new quick release system installed on wheel bases and wheels, which is super stiff and holds really well without any movement like old quick release in this video. It also has 8nm possible upgrade. So fanatec bundle for $399 with new qr2 and 8nm upgrade possible is superior to moza and cheaper.
I picked up this deal and upgraded to the load cell brake. I was going to go Moza but this deal kinda solidified it. I haven't used a wheel in like 20 years with some old MS FFB Wheel I had. Picked up a Next Level Racing Stand 2.0. I also have AC, FH5, and NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered installed and ready to go! The Fanatec should be here Wed.

@@tch0rt579 oh boy, I might be heading down a dark path. But, fun and happiness are what I’m looking for!
While the R5 does have a number of things going for it, I'm going to pick up the CSL DD for a few reasons;
1. Having 8nm as an upgrade path without having to get an entirely new base is really nice.
2. The larger round wheel that it comes with seems like the better 'general purpose' wheel and is definitely more suited to rallying, which is my favourite discipline.
3. The pedals, out of the box, seem better.
4. The fanatec has dedicated ports on the back of the base for shifters and a handbrake. As I'll have everything set up on a wheel stand rather than a dedicated set up, only having to plug in one USB instead of three is a pretty nice quality of life feature.
5. Moza just isn't price competitive here in Australia. CSL DD bundle is $640 at full price with a very reasonable $32 shipping. The Moza is closer to $1000.

Just bought my CSL dd wheel today been using the the g923 for awhile cannot wait to feel how dd feels super excited

got my Moza bundle for about 6 months. so, what I'm writing is based on this time frame and the ~6k laps in iRacing oval (ARCA, Gen4, Next-Gen and Xfinity Nascar).
I truly like it. playing with 80% FFB and I still can handle the Gen4 ARCA car also without issue. I can feel when the back tries to "live its own life" and how tires are wearing.
the only negative to Moza is that I can mount with 2 bolts only to the Next-Level F-GT as the 4 holes are not fully correctly placed :S
the thing what you've missed to mention is the mobile app for Moza.
New 4090 on its way under warranty.
That app is absolutely awesome for tweaking and quick feedback profile changes.
The base model priced at 400 makes every non DD logitech option a non consideration now. The g923 brand new sells for 400 itself and it's only a gear driven motor. Sure the g920 goes for 300, but why not just save up 25% more and get something far better? With the intro DD bundles getting more competitive in pricing, I wonder what brand will be the first to sacrifice quality to try and undercut the rest and completely ruin their customer reputation.
Im planning on upgrading from a g920 to either fanatec or moza very soon, and am leaning towards the moza ks with an r9 atm, but these bundles arent making it easy to decide lol

Actually the P1 V2 wheel has integrated shifter paddles with a stainless finish. The BMW rally wheel has removable paddles. That really only matters if like me you use the stationary paddles. That led to a problem with the initial DD bases, the shaft was too long without extra spacers and longer bolts. The QR2 has a shorter shaft and will be more user friendly for the stationary paddles. I know, I am the odd man out. Plus I use a CSL Elite until after the first of the year and I will be buying a new base, with the QR2. I will give my old QR1's to a friend that hardly races 30 times a year and might switch twice a year. I have never had a problem with my QR1's, but the new ones will be pretty much mandatory.
Honestly feels like a kick in the shorts. I paid around 550$ for the dd base with the 8nm upgrade. Because their wheels were so expensive I had to retrofit a trans am wheel I had laying around with 3d printed brackets and I had to make some pedals out of trash. Now I see i could have gotten a whole setup for allot less.... FML
Great video .. When you tested the Fanatec were you testing the 5Nm unit or the 8 ? and in your opinion would you say that the 5Nm is quite sufficient for someone stepping up from a non FFB wheel setup that I have been running for 20 years ? Thanks

Now that is an absolute steal!!! Good on them for the price drop, everyone needs to be able to experience DD and this price will help with that immensly. even if its only 5NM to start with, knowing you have the 8NM upgrade option is a bonus too. I just feel these will be out of stock for a while.

If you were on the fence between the R5 bundle and the CSL DD bundle, here’s your sign. I bought the R5 bundle at my local Microcenter and was severely disappointed. The base never felt right - it had this weird notchy feeling that others had experienced before. Nothing I did smoothed it out - firmware updates, reinstallation, tweaking the settings, nothing. And the PEDALS. The throttle and brake pedals in the R5 bundle are nearly identical with the brake just being *slightly* more stiff. If you purchase the R5 bundle you NEED to buy the optional dampener which my Microcenter does not carry. My G923 brake felt miles better. The simple foam insert on the Fanatec’s make a world of difference.
I haven’t owned the CSL DD bundle for long but my experience is far better so far. And it’s cheaper now.

Bought the Moza R5 bundle based on your review and I do not regret it. Fanatec dropping the price says they probably could have sold this a little cheaper all along and chose not too, which is a big FU to their current and potential customers.
Actually their profit margin was probably low in the beginning because they didn't have the volume they have nowadays. Production is probably high now so they can lower their price because of the higher volume. Early adopters, like me, paid the "sucker tax" that helped pay for their R&D to create the CSL DD.
Hell yea having two sim rig and with this deal is a must have

just got the fanatec csl dd today and played it 3 hrs and got famous electronic smoke. hope they fixed support and rma problems

The bundle in 8NM (pedals + wheel + base) is cheaper than the R9 base alone.
If you add pedals+wheel moza is almost 2 times more expensive...
And also the option to add the load cell kit with fanatec.

@@boostedmedia Thanks, I was considering buying one right away, but I'd love to see how it compares to Fanatic's wheel. It's cheaper and the wheel is probably mounted better so it won't wobble, but maybe the bigger wheel is worth the extra price. Or maybe having less mass will mean better force feedback! Also, I'd love to be able to hot-swap the wheel if I go for something other than the C5.
I think my Thrustmaster days are numbered, have not been happy with their customer service recently, reference me having to open my SF1000 Ferrari wheel to do a DIY repair. With my wheel still being under warranty I couldn't believe they did not exchange or let me send it in for repair. Seeing as though my T300 is over 3 years old now, I think it's time for a refresh with the Fanatec system.

I do want to say doe if you want a clutch and shifter knob Moza is by the cheaper way to go as they allow you to add it to their bundle for alot cheaper
Wtf do we need quick releases on sim racing gear?
It’s not like you need to switch drivers in a car within seconds.
They should just build the bases with a robust, absolute tight, less error prone mounting system.

I got the DD Pro bundle with load cell kit attached to my Sim-Lab rig, bunch of Fanatec wheels and its great with my PS5 VR2 setup but I am still thinking about this bundle to use on my PC in other room for casual games such as EUTS, ATS, BeamNG ... the clamp from DD bundle is unused so the fact its missing from this bundle is no problem. I dont have round 300mm rim yet so thats a nice bonus as well. The fact its rubber instead of fake leather is great as I treat my expensive Podium GT wheel in gloves only and sometimes, I just want to game quickly and eat at the same time, look at my phone, alt tab from the game and so on and this cheap rim would be great for those casual games and quick sessions. I'm really tempted to get this bundle but at the same time I think having two very similar DD bases is bit crazy.
Just pulled the trigger on the CSL DD 8nm elite bundle
The CSL-DD is finally entry level priced. Fanatec kind of has a history of dropping the prices of their entry products to bargin basement levels. When the Fanatec CSR bundle got dropped to $250 I ended up getting it. Before that, the Speedster 3 was cheap, and the PW 911 (the gear driven one) cost half of the PWTS at the time. This sort of price drop is not unusual for Fanatec.

@@citypavement From what I remember, that CSR bundle was a basic belt wheel over 10 years ago, and the Speedster was a freakin PS2 wheel so that's like 20 years ago. This deal here is absolutely great value and never before seen for a direct drive wheel. A good sale every 10 years and that guy says it's "not unusual" lol

It's a great kit, but man it woulda been amazing at the new price.
14 days consumer protection if you live in EU: you can return it and get your money back (if you are still within the 14 days). And then buy the kit for the new price.
Try contacting them, sometimes you can get the price drop given to you, especially if you are within the return window.
In the Uk any savings is wiped out by £35 six day delivery charge and £110 import tax . Apart from that great vid as always Will
oh man these bundle prices are making me sweat. I just upgraded to 3x 34" monitors and been looking to get a steering wheel for driving games (nothing hardcore) but its really tempting to just spend a little more on a DD setup then to buy some 300 euro wheel

Priced out the csl dd with stock wheel, bmw wheel, pedal with load cell kit and shifter comes out to 749. Without bmw wheel its 779 so worth it.
My biggest hang up on the Moza system is the fact it's not console compatible. I've got a dated laptop that only really runs Automobilista (1) and FIA GT Racing Game to a point where I can play online and be competitive. But I have an Xbox Series S.
I don't have the budget to get myself a new PC, a sim rig (I made the mistake a year ago and bought the NLR GT-Lite, it's good, but not for >5Nm DD bases) AND a DD wheelbase.
But I do have enough money to buy this bundle with the McLaren GT3 wheel and basically have all my driving/racing needs covered (my main interests are GT, F1 and prototype racing).
If the P1 were console compatible at $50-100 USD more than this, that would be a grand slam home run.
what the hell? i bought my Logitech g923 a couple years ago for about 350, right before the DD came out. the DD alone, with no wheel or pedals, was 400. now the entire kit is 400?? man, im tempted to give the g923 to my brother and get a DD

Is wheel that much better on PlayStation games anyway? In terms of immersion for sure, but not in terms of pace right?

And limited on PS as gt7 is limited in its physics anyway. But ACC / AC on PC should see a decent improvement
