My Google pixelbook cromebook died today.I took it to the repair shop and it can't get fixed .I watched this video and now I'm purchasing this .I'm so happy and excited thank you for the great video ! Got a Case too ,I ordered Hazel cause that's my pups name lol
Not alot of reviewers explain the different docks in different room functionality. You sir are awesome! I think I made the right purchase for my mom. Wish the docks weren't so expensive though.
Brett Awesome Video and I saw someone else mention that they let their children use the tablet.Actually amazing so they can learn how to use it properly and to watch videos or music or whatever they like.Excellent video as always. Thanks for sharing the in-depth info on how it works for everyone.✌️
Great review, amazing tablet. I have some questions though; When will be available for sale? What about the availability for Mexico and Latin America? In hub mode, does the music playback is stable and errors free or it stops playing randomly in every attempt due to software issues? Network is often blamed, the majority of smart speakers have a faulty software or a poor Wifi receiver that makes them handle week Wifi signals and disconnect randomly from our networks even having a great Wifi connection at home, and all the tech companies often blame our networks as a marketing strategy thinking that their products are perfect when this is not true, having a bad customer care team. I hope the reviews of this tablet are positive because this product seems really promising, pretty cool
This is such a great feature and demo review. This is what im looking for when im trying to see if a device is worth buying. I cant wait to binge watch all your videos now. Easy subscribe and excellent work
An excellent video Brett, but there were some subtle things you did by tapping or double the screen to add widgets, split screens, move apps around etc. that went a bit too quickly for me to follow. Is there somewhere that describes those actions. Settings describe features that can be turned on or off etc., but I need something that describes how to interact with the screen.
yeah the only two decent small tablets are the ipad mini and amazon fire hd 8. the fire tablet is perfect for my small tablet needs. on a sale price it's a steal and then i have a bigger tablet if i want to watch movies or do some work
It's kind of a bummer that you can't use Google assistant with the home app, when docked.. when it's docked I don't plan to be near the pixel tablet, so having to tap on the home app to bring up my favorites is kinda inconvenient. Hopefully this will be added in an update.
Thank you immensely, you've provided a wealth of information. PS: please tell me where you shop. I'm GETTING old and would like to buy some 'time'. I'm sure you meant 'thyme' LOL.
Hi there. Your great btw but how do I get out of the split screen? I've tried swiping but Everytime I use the split screen. It keeps going back to split screen when I voice activated it😢
Great questions. I would tell you if it works but it looks like it is completely broken. To find the setting in the Google Home app press Settings, then go to Google Assisting. Choose show all settings and in this row you will find Continued Conversation. When I tap on that I get an error so not sure if it is supported.
After a few days playing with the Pixel Tablet, I have found some "shortcomings." 1) No brightness control for Hub Ambient Mode. 2) No Start Sound after saying "OK Google" 3) MANY of Googles own apps think this is a phone, and are not customized for a tablet at all. 4) No way (that I could find) to immediately start Hub Mode when docking. 5) When off the dock, going into the Google Home App, the tablet reports itself as offline, even though it is obviously online. Don't get me wrong, it's "ok," But I feel it was rushed out the door before being 100% ready.
Don't get me wrong, I think your complaints are valid, but as far as I'm aware, on that last point about the Pixel Tablet showing as offline, I thought it was purposely designed so it can only access Chromecast/Google Home in Hub Mode.
Apparently every time you pick it up from the dock the dock speakers stop working? That's going to be irritating as hell. You have to lean off of the couch and change your UA-cam channel because if you just reach over for it to do something and set it back you've gone and whacked your audio, going through some interdimensional sound matrix switch -speakers, tablet tinny mini squeakiest, back to base, I wonder if it stops playback while readjusting also. It needs to use its Bluetooth to the dock. Imo take this off my Zon buy list. I might as well just have a tablet staying on my Bluetooth console connection. Too bad.
Bought it because i needed a tablet anyway. Casting from mobile to the pixel tablet is very unreliable. It does not work and it is very selective. Netflix cannot find the pixel tab and my brother has viki. Cannot cast to the tablet too even tho those apps can connect to android tvs. The only ones ive gotten to work is youtube and crunchyroll. My phone is an xperia 10iii and my brother has lgv60 and used a samsung tab. Cannot get netflix to work with it and viki. My other brother has disney+ and other services and will wait til later to try it out later
That is very interesting. Did you perform a software update? Also casting only works when the Pixel Tablet is docked and your phone and tablet are connected to the same WiFi network.
@@TechWithBrett yep i did all the updates prior to fiddling with it. And yes, its with dock use. Hence i was able to cast youtube and crunchyroll from my phone to the tablet. Unless theres a new update from last night, then id have to wait til i get home to check.
It depends on what you need to do on your laptop. You can pair a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to it to operate it so you can operate it that way and for most people it will do just about all you need.
Can mulitple people use voice match? Could i get personal info from the voice assistant, and also have my Wife get hew own personal information with her voice?
Induction wireless charging draws double power consumption. You are using 200% energy instead of 100% energy needed to charge your device. Plus, more power is used in conversion to send audio to the dock, using wireless energy. 15watts of power is wasted for the induction coil to receive the sound transmited between pixel and dock audio. Seems like you don't see the power consumption. Is a very inefficient unit.
This is not done through induction charging. The 4 pins are a direct wired connection so there is no loss in charging efficiency. The official terminology: Magnetic docking interface with pogo pin connection with a 15W max charging rate.
There's no such thing as 200% power. Impossible, You mean if the power coming in was 100% (figure) the inefficiency will make the device probably charge as 50%. Also I can tell you used the first Google result to get to that number from "MakeUseOf" which isn't reliable
i bought it and returned it... its crap. nice bedside stand for an alarm clock and screen saver and perhaps controlling your thermostats and lights... but then you can do that with voice with any next/home device, even your android, without having to touch it. Most of the apps are just blown up phone apps and the fingerprint reader/power button is very difficult to find everytime you want to unlock it. Especially if you had it sitting on the couch and picked it up and don't know what orientation its in. Have to literally run your fingers around the rim or just start looking for it. The dock speaker is actually good, very clear and gets loud.
This looks really nice, but I am just not sure about 60Hz displays on tablets anymore. On a Phone it doesn't seem to matter too much but on bigger screens for some reason it does. I really notice when I am using our older 60 Hz ipads, the lack of fluidity really is noticeable.
Seems too schizophrenic with different operating systems depending on whether you're using the Hub, Android, Assistant or Chrome interface software. Apple has the same problem with iOS, ipadOS and macOS but at least they go with the device. The problem with both companies is that they have lots of developers cranking out bloatware. KISS
They must of not tested it very good. With time they connections on the back will give you trouble connecting the easy fix is just gold plated both sides. They do this on PC cards and Game cartridges. Also too bad they don't put a removable battery with it on the dock charging all the time about 3 years or so battery might swell up. If they add these two things I definitely would get it.
This isn't 2010 you boomer. Removable batteries makes the device completely incapable of ANY water resistance and with the size of the battery that tablets have, it'll be insanely dangerous if you accidentally drop it. These aren't 200mah tiny batteries like in the dumb phones. It's a freaking 7500mah battery that's almost the size of the tablet itself.
I really wish Amazon did this with their fire tablets, because Google is a garbage fire and I never use assistant anymore I only use Alexa now because of all the garbage changes Google has made. I have been suggesting Amazon do this for like 6 year now looks like Google stole my idea but Amazon didn't listen. But at least Amazon has finally added an edge connector to their new fire tablet now so there is hope that Amazon or a 3rd party could come out with a speaker dock for it. It still baffles me that Amazon didn't add an edge connector to their fire tablets and make a dock like this when they came out with the show mode dock and case combo which required a janky and bulky case for the fire tablet that had to plug into the micro USB port on the tablet to work. I also prefer the wider aspect ratio of the fire tablets to this goofy ipad esque ipad aspect ratio it is just too bad fire ables are so slow with google play services added and are seriously lacking in RAM, even the new one.
new one has 4gb, not great but it should be decently fast with the new chipset. i do agree i wish amazon would do this speaker dock concept at half the price. i've tried using my fire hd in show mode, and found really 3 big problems: 1. youtube video seems low quality, like maybe 480P. Dunno if it's a setting I'm missing somewhere? but it really detracts from the experience. 2. the onboard speakers are too quiet to be heard over kitchen din (not really it's fault tho, no tablet can have great speakers) 3. no far field mic i guess. it's very bad at hearing, and the echo show 8 IN THE OTHER ROOM will usually pick up before it does.
@@cryengine_x one last problem with fire tablet show mode is that you can not add them to an audio group , if they do come out with a speaker dock for the fire max 11 or other tablets with a dock connector to make them into echo shows with the added soeaker dock then hopefully they add the ability to add fire tablets in show mode to audio groups.
5:45 the music ID feature has gone completly to crap I have the pixel 7 and the 7 pro and these phones almost never can ID music what is even worse is that it will only ID some songs auomatically but 99% of the time it just pops up with a button and you have to tap the button for it to start listening and identifiying the songs now even though I have it set to ID automatically , it never used to be like this on my pixel 3A XL everything Google does sucks and is a major downgrade, just look at UA-cam , besides the censorship and other BS the interface is so slow now it is barely useable at all anymore and I have to zoom out my browesr to 67% now to see more than 3 videos in a row in my sub feed now and now I can't even read the text because it is so small, so I am forced to chose between having only 3 videos in a row which will take me forever to view my sub feed to to have the browser zoomed out to ant size,. Also the pixel 7 and 7 pro both suck on batter and have oerheating problems, tensor 2 is hot garbage and I wish I never "upgraded" the TDP on tensor is pure crap and I ger only 1.5 hours of SOT , the 7 drains at arate of 1% per minute and the pro is not much better,. You can bet it will years before Google releases a new version of the pixel tablet so we will be stuck with this garage tensor chip for a long time now, they should have waited till they made a better tensor chip that is not garbage and doesnt have 0/10 TDP , but that will probalby never happen anyways becaue Google sucks at literally everythig they do and their entire product and service lines are ona steady downward trajectory and eveyhtig they do just makes things worse and worse, Google search is not een useable anymore, becaue they deliberatley broke it for the same of wokeness, they deliberatly break everything and when they donlt break it deliberatley they break it wih software bugs or poor desig like in the case to tensor. also the 7 and 7 pro have horrible screens the brightness is extremly poor and the phone are not even useable out of doors even on the cloudiest of days. Google makes horrible products and all their services are going down in flames they are cancer on the tech industry and they need to just stop already.
Google ruins everything they touch, my home hub just sits here collecting dust now and it gets zero use at all its only use now is a photo frame . they have removed all the useful features such as location services, life 360 intergration, the ability to make calls or ask for the number of a business and then have it call the number, the IFTTT API was changed and the new API just sucks and is a major downgrade and now you need to use additional wake commands for IFTTT applets and you can no longer have custom voice responses. there was no migration path so all my old google applets got delted and lost and the new API is missing other stuff so I can't even replace them . Assisant and UA-cam are 2 out fo control garbage fires that just keep on getting worse and worse and worse and so is Google search itself. I despise Google with every fiber of my being and Ijust want them to die along with eveyrone ever employed there.
Android 13 sucks and Google fractured the platform by removing backward compatibility because of MUH SECURITY, I got the 7 pro and and I can not run old apps on it , there is no way to do it and some of these apps run some of my smarthome stuff and they are not being updated anymore so now IN am just SOL and have to replace hard wired devices like my ceiling fans if I want to use my phone to contorl them what is worse is that I no longer have the remote for my ceiling fan so the only way I could contorl it was my phone and now i can't even install the app on my new phone.
What else do you want to know about the Pixel Tablet?

How does the Android 14 beta look on it?
Does it have security camera function when dock? Like the nest hub max.
It does not have any camera security features.

After a few days playing with the Pixel Tablet, I have found some "shortcomings."
1) No brightness control for Hub Ambient Mode.
2) No Start Sound after saying "OK Google"
3) MANY of Googles own apps think this is a phone, and are not customized for a tablet at all.
4) No way (that I could find) to immediately start Hub Mode when docking.

It is the actual Android app, and it doesn't have extensions. I bring this up to Google every time I have some meeting where I can give input.
Unless I'm missing something the speaker on the dock appears to be cheese. I can only find volume control for it.

and I have to zoom out my browesr to 67% now to see more than 3 videos in a row in my sub feed now and now I can't even read the text because it is so small, so I am forced to chose between having only 3 videos in a row which will take me forever to view my sub feed to to have the browser zoomed out to ant size,.
Also the pixel 7 and 7 pro both suck on batter and have oerheating problems, tensor 2 is hot garbage and I wish I never "upgraded"
the TDP on tensor is pure crap and I ger only 1.5 hours of SOT , the 7 drains at arate of 1% per minute and the pro is not much better,.
Google makes horrible products and all their services are going down in flames they are cancer on the tech industry and they need to just stop already.
soundhound is trash at id-ing music lately too. 99% of time if the song isnt famous it just whiffs, pisses me off.
NEST HARDWARE WAS 10x BETTER THAN GOOGLE
No lies detected
What hardware? They didn't have anything in the competes with this, or the small speakers... Their cameras and thermostat?
@@stevenswall CAMERAS NEST HELLO IS NEST OUTDOOR IQ IS BETTER THAN ANYTHING GOOGLE HAS ALSO NEST PROTECT I KNOW I HAVE ALL 3
Liar
If only this had dex…
I hate hand gestures.
Google ruins everything they touch, my home hub just sits here collecting dust now and it gets zero use at all its only use now is a photo frame .
they have removed all the useful features such as location services, life 360 intergration, the ability to make calls or ask for the number of a business and then have it call the number,
the IFTTT API was changed and the new API just sucks and is a major downgrade and now you need to use additional wake commands for IFTTT applets and you can no longer have custom voice responses.
there was no migration path so all my old google applets got delted and lost and the new API is missing other stuff so I can't even replace them .
Assisant and UA-cam are 2 out fo control garbage fires that just keep on getting worse and worse and worse and so is Google search itself.
I despise Google with every fiber of my being and Ijust want them to die along with eveyrone ever employed there.
i literally loled
Android 13 sucks and Google fractured the platform by removing backward compatibility
because of MUH SECURITY, I got the 7 pro and and I can not run old apps on it , there is no way to do it
and some of these apps run some of my smarthome stuff and they are not being updated anymore so now IN am just SOL and have to replace hard wired devices like my ceiling fans if I want to use my phone to contorl them what is worse is that I no longer have the remote for my ceiling fan so the only way I could contorl it was my phone and now i can't even install the app on my new phone.
You learned a valuable lesson
The "G" on Google products really stands for GARBAGE
What happened to common courtesy in your comments?
Wonder how easy that would be to sideslip octoprint in there
I don't know what this means.
