This was my first choice for concealed carry. Very comfortable and concealable. The accuracy is good with a natural point and shoot making hip shots easy. I don't mind grip safeties as I was raised on 1911s. Overall a very solid pistol.
Thanks for sharing. I've been carrying an XDs 45 for about 18 months now and never leave home without it. I've changed out the sights for a set of XS Big dot and added some talon grip tape. Just a great combo.
XDS 45 ACP is a beautiful gun, especially in FDE. It packs lots of power. This is my EDC where I sometimes switch with Glock 27. Great handguns to neutralize any threat. Great review Sootch00 👍👍🇺🇸
I got mine when it first came out. It was packaged with a Springfield holster. There was a recall so I sent it back but for the trouble they sent me 2, 7 round mags. Absolutely love mine. Nice to have that classic 45 power in a small package.
Darrien Lovett yeah, I live in SC. They make you shoot 50 rounds but I forget how many actually have to hit the target. Luckily I got them all in. The 45 is really smooth for the caliber.
I love how the recoil on this little thing is manageable, but it punches you in the face with all that back blast. And the PRP spring kit is a must on these.
Nice review sootch00 . I've owned my xds 45 for almost a year now and have had zero malfunctions. I bought it for a carry pistol and so far I like it better than my shield. Keep the videos coming 👍🏻
I love the XDs 4.0 in .45 and I have to say it's a real pleasure to fire. I've long been a fan of the XD line, the quality is top notch. Your reviews are fair and on point, plus the outtakes at the end are comedic gold.
I bought one in 2012 and loved it. I sent it to Springfield for the recall; it took a long time to get it back. After it finally returned the pistol had a lousy trigger. I gave it away to a friend who had never shot it before the recall. He likes it. I own several pistols, but no more Springfields. -Gunny T sends
Xds 45 in grey is my normal carry. The fact it can’t be pushed out of battery by muzzle makes it nice if in a physical altercation. I carry with pierce grip extension for my pinky and 7rnd BUMags. Great gun.
I bought my XDs 45 for $409.00, added a crimson trace laserguard and trigger kit with the sear from Powder River Precision which gave a pull weight equal to my stock Colt 1911. Talon grips rounds out the package. Carry it cross draw in a Stoner Holsters cross draw rig with no cant. Love my XDs
This is my EDC. I prefer the recoil of a .45. I thought it would kick but did not. The first time I shot it I was touching rounds at ten yards. I passed it to a deputy who after firing asked where they could get one, then her husband had the same reaction as did a former team member. I was also very impressed with the customer service and accessory pricing from Springfield. Better rust resistance than my son's Glock 42 and excellent sights.
Good review. I have carried one for years. Even with the recall, I have been happy with it. They even gave me a 7 rd mag for my trouble. I like the concealability of it with the five round mag, but noticed a difference in my accuracy as opposed to the seven round mags. I wish they would have put something for my pinky. Mine hangs off the grip just a bit, but I have learned to compensate. I use the seven round mags for extra ammo. WHile researching this buy, I was worried about the recoil, so I borrowed one for the range. I was amazed at how little there was for a 45 ACP in a small frame. There is some and the shooter does have to pay attention so as not to weak wrist it as it may not cycle properly. One of the benefits of having other XD platforms, is that some holsters work on all of them. I got an Alien Gear ISW holster for my XD-9. It works for my XD-9 Compact and for the XD-45. This makes for more flexibility, depending on my dress for the weather. I enjoy your reviews, Sir. I am now saving up for a scope you reviewed a little bit ago.
I have had the same firearm for a year and a half I Cary it in basketball shorts, all sorts of clothing and it doesn't really print at all. the capacity is overcame by your spare magazine in a 7 round. my everyday carry, never has jammed with any ammo, if your looking to purchase one you won't regret it.
This gun is amazingly accurate for a compact 45. I had a Kahr PM40 and i hated the trigger so i traded it for the XD gen 1. Shot placement improved despite jumping up in power. Its allso incredibly comfortable to carry. The only downside is the rough stippling. I always end up with that grenade patter indented in my hands after shooting. You can find these for $250-350 used
I have had one sense they came out. It did go back for the recall. Love caring it! One thing nobody has noticed even on the newer ones. Loaded in the pipe with or without a clip. If you push back on the slide the gun will stay out of battery . Especially when dirty. Try it . Nobody will comment it's like the round indicator is to strong or the spring is not. Hope "someone" see this...
I bought one of these brand new at a gun show recently, have run perhaps 100 rounds through it. Nice shooter, much more accurate that I would have thought, excellent small concealable gun, there's nothing not to like that I can see. I need to get the 8 rnd magazine next time I'm near the e-bay junkyard. Much happy.
I have a P227 Elite Stainless and Beautiful! I bought the XDS 45 3.3 today. with the Viridian holster/laser combo which allows the Green laser to be on all the time in the holster and when pulled out, The laser is automatically turns on Very cool
I have probably close to 2000 rounds through my xds .45 without a single failure. I did have to replace a broken firing pin, but other than that it has worked flawlessly!
You're such a good shooter you make all the guns look good. I'm looking at getting a Grand Power p45 because the rotating barrel might reduce the recoil a lot. I've heard the HK kicks like a mule. The FNX 45 seems like it is agreed by most to be the best.
Can someone please help me I have a problem my XD is empty but everytime I dry fire the trigger it stays stuck and won’t come forward again until it’s racked is that normal!?
Can someone please help me I have a problem my XD is empty but everytime I dry fire the trigger it stays stuck and won’t come forward again until it’s racked is that normal!?
Had rust issues with mine, bought it when it first came out. Was going to be my everyday carry however the rust was so bad it seized up. Compared to my glock 26 or 19 I never had any rust issues under the same conditions.
I've been carrying my bitone (stainless and black) for a few years now. Love it! Digging that fde coloration! It's light, thin, has a. Great trigger, and performs flawlessly. After 1500 rounds, not a single malfunction and eats anything I feed it!
Sootch00! Thanks for a great review. You always manage to say so much in comparatively little time. It's good to have you out there showing us good gun stuff!
I've fired this on several occasions at my local range to attempt to get a feel for the subcompacts, comparing it against the glock, shield and others, I'm surprised you didn't mention that super aggressive pattern on the grip. I felt like it was a joke from Springfield because so many people are concerned about grip texture, they just figured they'd make it insane. I almost want to cover it up with griptape to make it more comfortable to shoot.
Nothing better than N82 tactical holsters, even for this gun. I have and use the full size gun holster intended for my FNX40 that I carry my XDS45 in. It keeps an inch or more of overlap around the gun keeping it completely off your skin...the perfect package;)
Just bought one of this 2 weeks ago. I absolutely love it! Put up the Glock 19 and started carrying this bad boy. It’s deff the smallest 45 I have owned
Thank you! Awesome Review as always. I love both my XDS 45, & my 9. I did make some modification on my 45, replacing the barrel and the trigger and added a Green Crimson Trace & Talon Grips. I did have to order a custom IWB Holster because of the Crimson Trace. Never had any problems & Zero Malfunctions and definitely one of my favorite pistols to shoot. I also own a Glock 36, and Shield 45 you showed for comparison and are both excellent pistols. Thanks again for the review.
Please review the New XDe Sootch! Springfield made an excellent 1st attempt at a DA/SA Single Stack! Very accurate and jam proof little pistol! Surprisingly soft and flat recoil. Basically it's a DA/SA Version of the XDs. It's a one of a kind and a great CCW for folks that prefer DA/SA. At $439.00, it's a great pistol
Great vid Sootch. Love my XDS 45. Carry it inside in an El Paso. Mine shoots 230 Grain pills better than 185's which sort of surprised me but they go in the middle so I don't judges the little guy. Keep on making these great reviews.
Great gun. It's the same size as my wife's Glock 43. I've put literally thousands of rounds through mine. Run it wet, but stay away from Perfecta ammo.
I love my XDs. Springfield's product is just a liiiiitle higher in quality to me when compared to my Glocks and M&P's. I love the color on this one too!
On and empty mag its good easy to eject mag and button not hard,or stiff don’t have to put all my dumb force to release is this normal or like i said maybe another 200/300 rds and it should break in or do i call springfield or send back
Can someone please help me I have a problem my XD is empty but everytime I dry fire the trigger it stays stuck and won’t come forward again until it’s racked is that normal!?
Yeah.. multiple perpetrators are the rule not the exception in my area. That's why my XDs 45 became an instant safe queen. Now I'm thinking about making it my backup gun. 2 guns is one..one is none. Love the nozzle on it.
@@almightymontana3865 That's totally normal. That's how semi-autos recock..the slide is like thumb cocking a revolver. For dry fire practice..just move the slide back about half an inch to recock/reset the trigger.😎
I've had my XDs 45 for almost 4.5 years. It's become my daily carry I have a couple promagazine extended mags in a double carrier. I like that grip better with the adapters on the extended mag. I've not felt the need to add anything to it.
Thank you for an exceedingly thorough review brother, it's really over the top and really fun to watch! I enjoyed it immensely, and you also show the XDS' excellent design in detail, which I really appreciate. Thanks so much again, and be blessed!
I've had my eye on the XDS for a while. My girlfriend needs a new carry piece, though I think she'll like the 9mm better. But a pocket .45 sounds right to me.
I'm not sure if it's my ammo or what but I have the 4.0 XDs 45 and the very first magazine I had issues with the round feeding in. Another 50 rounds I had 2 issues I'd say. In about the last 500 rounds I've had maybe 2 issues that I can remember. 1 not feeding in all the way and 1 case not ejecting. Love the way the gun feels in my hand, the sights, and fires. Just hard to trust it. I was feeling confident that it wasn't broken in and then had those issues come up after 200-250 rounds. Been running Winchester and Remington ammo. Maybe I'll get some Hornady and try that out.
Sold my XDS 45 and got a Shield 45. Two reasons better capacity and the XDS tore the heck out of my right thumb.... I love Glocks and Sig but the Shield in my opinion is just as good. But to me the XDS grip is a major problem.
Good video, nice out takes. I don't have enough handguns. Debating lately another .45, something more concealable/lighter than my 1911 and more specifically, I want to get AS light and concealable as possible. Already have an old AMT Backup too which is about as small as a 5 shot .45 will ever get but it's still a heavy chunk of metal. Pretty much decided on this, your video helps seal the deal. Thx.
When did they go to a 6 round extended mag? I bought two extended mags some 2 or 3 years ago and they both hold 7. What happened there? Regardless, I have had my XDs for quite a while now as my EDC and let me tell you, this little champ eats anything I put through it without issue and can reach out and touch a target at 60+ yards. It's a sweet concealable package that doesn't bite nearly as hard as you would expect. Love it and would recommend it to anybody.
Carry it in a leather IWB holster from Bear Creek Holsters. Doug Childers makes a beautiful holster for this gun that will allow you to carry it in comfort.
Please, please, please do a review on the flat trigger replacement from Overwatch Precision for the XD-s 45! I have owned this pistol for years and the trigger gives me blisters. I have been looking at doing the trigger but have yet to see a review from a UA-cam I trust. Great video as always!
Hey Sootch00, ever thought about comparing this gun with the G39? It's the only 'big bore subcompact" that glock makes AFAIK. Approximate same barrel length, mag capacity etc.
This was my first choice for concealed carry. Very comfortable and concealable. The accuracy is good with a natural point and shoot making hip shots easy. I don't mind grip safeties as I was raised on 1911s. Overall a very solid pistol.
I just picked one of these up today. Can’t wait to get it out on the range. Anybody else carrying the XDS 45?
Why would over 300 idiots give this review a thumbs down??? Sootch has some of the best reviews out there...
They're probably highpoint fans
I need one of these in my life now...
Me too, seems like a great deep carry pistol.
Mrgunsngear Channel i got my 4hrs ago i love it,,,ever day carry i would not sale it for for anything
Bought mine earlier today, first .45 ACP I've ever seen in such a small package. Definitely worth the buy over any of the competition.
Hope you got one!

I've had this one for about 3 years. I carry it evert day and I love it

This is one of the best concealed carry pistol, it's accurate and packs a punch.
I cannot tell you how pleased I am with my Springfield XDS 45.
I used the 45 acp in my concealed carry class and got 50 out of 50. This gun is my EDC. I love it and would not trade it.
I hear that im about to look in to this stick.
You must be a Springfield troll if you actually believe this gun is good. LMAO.
To busterdog above.
50/50???? Lol mine was 30/30 with an XD9. XD rules!

Just purchased my Springfield .45 XD-S....feels great, easy to fire, very concealable. Great video...thanks.

I've got one with a SS slide and it's great for CCW and a truck gun. Has a bit of recoil, though, due to its size!
I love mine! I have put about 900 rds through it without any problems. I use mine in my edc rotation. All .45 ACPs.
Rev. Steven Taylor if your interested in selling it I am very interested in buying one !
Bought mine 6 months ago because of your review, I love it!
I love the XDs 4.0 in .45 and I have to say it's a real pleasure to fire.

Can you please do a segment on the recall the XDs series had a few years ago and what that entailed?
Simply put, nice piece/s.

I had to put the pinky extension on my 45 just to have my 3 fingers fit on it with out loosing concealment
i have all 3, the 9mm the 40sw and the 45acp xds handguns.. love them all, can use the same holster for all 3
Galwegan I am up to 2 subs and 4 SFA guns.
Add Talon Grips to it and the grip doesnt bite anymore. Great gun and super accurate

thanks for the review. got a chance to fire the one A friend owns and for a single stack I was impressed.

I have the same color in 40sw
I have the xds mod2 in 45 acp. I use hornaday critical duty in mine. Love it. Did get the 8 round magazine with spacer to fit my hand better
I just picked one up yesterday at the gun show, got it used for 300. I’ve carried them before and traded it. This time I’m keeping it.
Thank you for your serious report.
Talon grips will make a world of difference but I didn't find it too aggressive.
I guess i've got soft hands, lol. either than or the heel of my hand is just too pronounced for it to grip comfortably.
I have a Ruger LCP II, Springfield XDS 45 Mk II, Sig Sauer P365, Ruger LCR, Taurus Raging Judge and Mossberg Shockwave
This is a great piece
Excellent review...
Got one back in the summer, love it, it's my new carry. Great gun.

Surprisingly soft and flat recoil. Basically it's a DA/SA Version of the XDs. It's a one of a kind and a great CCW for folks that prefer DA/SA. At $439.00, it's a great pistol
Hello to you Don,
I was looking @ 45 ACP firearms and found this one. Very , very , nice pistol.
Well done on your end

Looks good
Yes, these are excellent firearms and I carry them as my EDC
I love my XDs. Springfield's product is just a liiiiitle higher in quality to me when compared to my Glocks and M&P's. I love the color on this one too!
On mag pricing from Springfield. Springfield usually includes a coupon to buy at discounted prices from the store.
I love the mistakes/outtakes at the end .... Keep up the good work my brother ...
If I get one of these I think I'll opt for the 4 inch model just to maximize ballistics and sight radius.
I bought the 4 inch model for the reasons you stated plus better recoil management.
I have two of them, this is a great firearm
I understand! One for each hand
I just put XS night sights on mine. What a nightmare! Definitely the hardest install I have ever done.
Just got my first .45 in a rock island compact, this is next on my list in the 4.0 barrel.
BeardedGearNut get a Glock 30s
Ricky Gonzalez.O Is that a double stack?
How do you like it?
BeardedGearNut double stack 10+1 .45 acp. Grip feels like a full size, nice weight. Best compact .45
James Lagnese haven't fired it yet but feels good in hand. It's heavy but I intend to carry it owb mostly.
Pearce Grip makes a nice mag extension for the 5Rounder, no more hanging the pinky
On and empty mag its good easy to eject mag and button not hard,or stiff don’t have to put all my dumb force to release is this normal or like i said maybe another 200/300 rds and it should break in or do i call springfield or send back
I have this exact gun in 9mm and 40 caliber. It's a very nice firearm.
Had mine for 6 years & love it!
the idea of lobbing fat 45 Cal lead slugs out of a pocket pistol compared to a 380 or 9mm is something to consider. capacity vs firepower
A single stack of 45 will get it done if not the problems may not be the gun.
Can someone please help me I have a problem my XD is empty but everytime I dry fire the trigger it stays stuck and won’t come forward again until it’s racked is that normal!?

Agreed...I actually put a rubber Talon grip on mine because I didn't like the aggressive texture after 200+ rounds.
You might wanna try the G2 version since it's a bit more comfortable from what I hear.
John would know, right John?
I have an XDS 4.0 It shoots more accurate, less muzzle flip, but it is slightly longer and heavier making it a little harder to conceal.
Carry it in a leather IWB holster from Bear Creek Holsters. Doug Childers makes a beautiful holster for this gun that will allow you to carry it in comfort.
Just picked mine up on Saturday!
Please, please, please do a review on the flat trigger replacement from Overwatch Precision for the XD-s 45! I have owned this pistol for years and the trigger gives me blisters. I have been looking at doing the trigger but have yet to see a review from a UA-cam I trust. Great video as always!
Sweet gun, nice video. One of my favorite concealed carry pistols
Joe Kim if you’d ever consider selling I really want this pistol
I bought mine before the recall, it's still a great gun but it was better the first time around
Hey Sootch00, ever thought about comparing this gun with the G39? It's the only 'big bore subcompact" that glock makes AFAIK. Approximate same barrel length, mag capacity etc.
you can put the mag in while the slide is off if the take down lever is turned back down
