This was my first choice for concealed carry. Very comfortable and concealable. The accuracy is good with a natural point and shoot making hip shots easy. I don't mind grip safeties as I was raised on 1911s. Overall a very solid pistol.
Why would over 300 idiots give this review a thumbs down??? Sootch has some of the best reviews out there...
I've had this one for about 3 years. I carry it evert day and I love it
I need one of these in my life now...
Me too, seems like a great deep carry pistol.
Mrgunsngear Channel i got my 4hrs ago i love it,,,ever day carry i would not sale it for for anything
Bought mine earlier today, first .45 ACP I've ever seen in such a small package. Definitely worth the buy over any of the competition.
Hope you got one!
Mrgunsngear Channel you need some rogain if your life my friend.
XDS 45 ACP is a beautiful gun, especially in FDE. It packs lots of power. This is my EDC where I sometimes switch with Glock 27. Great handguns to neutralize any threat. Great review Sootch00 👍👍🇺🇸
This is one of the best concealed carry pistol, it's accurate and packs a punch.
I just picked one of these up today. Can’t wait to get it out on the range. Anybody else carrying the XDS 45?
Thanks for sharing. I've been carrying an XDs 45 for about 18 months now and never leave home without it. I've changed out the sights for a set of XS Big dot and added some talon grip tape. Just a great combo.
I got mine when it first came out. It was packaged with a Springfield holster. There was a recall so I sent it back but for the trouble they sent me 2, 7 round mags. Absolutely love mine. Nice to have that classic 45 power in a small package.
I cannot tell you how pleased I am with my Springfield XDS 45.
Just purchased my Springfield .45 XD-S....feels great, easy to fire, very concealable. Great video...thanks.
I love how the recoil on this little thing is manageable, but it punches you in the face with all that back blast. And the PRP spring kit is a must on these.
PRP. ?
Nice review sootch00 . I've owned my xds 45 for almost a year now and have had zero malfunctions. I bought it for a carry pistol and so far I like it better than my shield. Keep the videos coming 👍🏻
This man shoots so well plus his reviews and unintended advice are 2nd to none! 5 ✨
I love the XDs 4.0 in .45 and I have to say it's a real pleasure to fire.
I've long been a fan of the XD line, the quality is top notch.
Your reviews are fair and on point, plus the outtakes at the end are comedic gold.
Bought mine 6 months ago because of your review, I love it!
I used the 45 acp in my concealed carry class and got 50 out of 50. This gun is my EDC. I love it and would not trade it.
I hear that im about to look in to this stick.
You must be a Springfield troll if you actually believe this gun is good. LMAO.
To busterdog above.
50/50???? Lol mine was 30/30 with an XD9. XD rules!
Darrien Lovett yeah, I live in SC. They make you shoot 50 rounds but I forget how many actually have to hit the target. Luckily I got them all in. The 45 is really smooth for the caliber.
I love mine! I have put about 900 rds through it without any problems. I use mine in my edc rotation. All .45 ACPs.
Rev. Steven Taylor if your interested in selling it I am very interested in buying one !
Good review. I have carried one for years. Even with the recall, I have been happy with it. They even gave me a 7 rd mag for my trouble. I like the concealability of it with the five round mag, but noticed a difference in my accuracy as opposed to the seven round mags. I wish they would have put something for my pinky. Mine hangs off the grip just a bit, but I have learned to compensate. I use the seven round mags for extra ammo.
WHile researching this buy, I was worried about the recoil, so I borrowed one for the range. I was amazed at how little there was for a 45 ACP in a small frame. There is some and the shooter does have to pay attention so as not to weak wrist it as it may not cycle properly.
One of the benefits of having other XD platforms, is that some holsters work on all of them. I got an Alien Gear ISW holster for my XD-9. It works for my XD-9 Compact and for the XD-45. This makes for more flexibility, depending on my dress for the weather.
I enjoy your reviews, Sir. I am now saving up for a scope you reviewed a little bit ago.
Can you please do a segment on the recall the XDs series had a few years ago and what that entailed?
Thank you for an exceedingly thorough review brother, it's really over the top and really fun to watch! I enjoyed it immensely, and you also show the XDS' excellent design in detail, which I really appreciate. Thanks so much again, and be blessed!
Simply put, nice piece/s.
I have the .9m and the .45m.. love them both..!!!
I've been carrying my bitone (stainless and black) for a few years now. Love it! Digging that fde coloration! It's light, thin, has a. Great trigger, and performs flawlessly. After 1500 rounds, not a single malfunction and eats anything I feed it!
Sootch00! Thanks for a great review. You always manage to say so much in comparatively little time. It's good to have you out there showing us good gun stuff!
Thank you! Awesome Review as always. I love both my XDS 45, & my 9. I did make some modification on my 45, replacing the barrel and the trigger and added a Green Crimson Trace & Talon Grips. I did have to order a custom IWB Holster because of the Crimson Trace. Never had any problems & Zero Malfunctions and definitely one of my favorite pistols to shoot. I also own a Glock 36, and Shield 45 you showed for comparison and are both excellent pistols. Thanks again for the review.
Excellent review...
Got one back in the summer, love it, it's my new carry. Great gun.
I bought my XDs 45 for $409.00, added a crimson trace laserguard and trigger kit with the sear from Powder River Precision which gave a pull weight equal to my stock Colt 1911. Talon grips rounds out the package. Carry it cross draw in a Stoner Holsters cross draw rig with no cant. Love my XDs
Awesome review of a great pistol!
As always, a wonderful review of a fabulous CCW.
I bought one of these brand new at a gun show recently, have run perhaps 100 rounds through it. Nice shooter, much more accurate that I would have thought, excellent small concealable gun, there's nothing not to like that I can see. I need to get the 8 rnd magazine next time I'm near the e-bay junkyard. Much happy.
i ORDERED ONE LAST NIGHT. anxious to get it.
Can someone please help me I have a problem my XD is empty but everytime I dry fire the trigger it stays stuck and won’t come forward again until it’s racked is that normal!?
I bought one in 2012 and loved it. I sent it to Springfield for the recall; it took a long time to get it back. After it finally returned the pistol had a lousy trigger. I gave it away to a friend who had never shot it before the recall. He likes it. I own several pistols, but no more Springfields. -Gunny T sends
Springfield is trash, so you aren't missing anything.
Xds 45 in grey is my normal carry. The fact it can’t be pushed out of battery by muzzle makes it nice if in a physical altercation. I carry with pierce grip extension for my pinky and 7rnd BUMags. Great gun.
Really appreciate how abjective and factual you are.Thank Oh and i like your little friend with the big boom.
Just picked one of these up. Thanks for the video!
I have the same color in 40sw
Had mine for 6 years & love it!
My old manager has one of these and I always loved shooting it. Coming from revolvers, I just don’t find most 9mm semi autos as fun to shoot. My FFL has an auction site and this popped up tonight. Definitely winning it no matter what.
Thanks for elevating another worthwhile video!
Your reviews are always awesome
This is my EDC. I prefer the recoil of a .45. I thought it would kick but did not. The first time I shot it I was touching rounds at ten yards. I passed it to a deputy who after firing asked where they could get one, then her husband had the same reaction as did a former team member. I was also very impressed with the customer service and accessory pricing from Springfield. Better rust resistance than my son's Glock 42 and excellent sights.
I've got one with a SS slide and it's great for CCW and a truck gun. Has a bit of recoil, though, due to its size!
thanks for the review. got a chance to fire the one A friend owns and for a single stack I was impressed.
good info, just bought one yesterday, thanks for all your videos.
Thank you for your serious report.
Love your videos, keep them up! Whenever looking at a gun, I go by your video and Hickoks and then I've got everything I need to know!
Thanks Brother!
Please review the New XDe Sootch! Springfield made an excellent 1st attempt at a DA/SA Single Stack! Very accurate and jam proof little pistol!
Surprisingly soft and flat recoil. Basically it's a DA/SA Version of the XDs. It's a one of a kind and a great CCW for folks that prefer DA/SA. At $439.00, it's a great pistol
As always great review! Thanks
Thanks Keith!
I have had the same firearm for a year and a half I Cary it in basketball shorts, all sorts of clothing and it doesn't really print at all. the capacity is overcame by your spare magazine in a 7 round. my everyday carry, never has jammed with any ammo, if your looking to purchase one you won't regret it.
This is my EDC with a 7 rounder mag. Great vid!
I’ve been carrying this pistol for 6 years now!!! Great weapon. I’ve never had a malfunction well over 600 rds down range!!!
600 is not a lot.
I love the mistakes/outtakes at the end .... Keep up the good work my brother ...
Finally got my hands on a Springfield TRP, now I need a XDM 45 compact to go along with it 😁
Just inherited one of these! This was an exceptionally made video and highly informative! Thank you so much, Sootch! Your work is greatly appreciated.
Can someone please help me I have a problem my XD is empty but everytime I dry fire the trigger it stays stuck and won’t come forward again until it’s racked is that normal!?
@almighty Montana, that’s normal. All semi-auto triggers won’t fire unless you rack the slide. That’s normal, your XDS is fine
I have had one sense they came out. It did go back for the recall. Love caring it! One thing nobody has noticed even on the newer ones.
Loaded in the pipe with or without a clip. If you push back on the slide the gun will stay out of battery . Especially when dirty.
Try it . Nobody will comment it's like the round indicator is to strong or the spring is not.
Hope "someone" see this...
Great vid Sootch. Love my XDS 45. Carry it inside in an El Paso. Mine shoots 230 Grain pills better than 185's which sort of surprised me but they go in the middle so I don't judges the little guy. Keep on making these great reviews.
Great videos one of my favorite reviewers.
Thanks Ryan!
I'm glad you have finally done a review on this gun. I have had this gun since Springfield came out with it a few years ago. Absolutely love the size and ability to conceal along with that strong stopping power. Great review!
I love mine. It's a great gun, a lot of wallop in a small package.
Great review. Clear and concise. Good work.
Thanks!
Nice piece. I use the 7 rd mags for the range, 6 rd mag for daily carry.
Add Talon Grips to it and the grip doesnt bite anymore. Great gun and super accurate
I bought my M&P 9c becsuse of ur Review... Now im buying this one...
Shoulda bought the m&p .45 my friend
Good call!
Can someone please help me I have a problem my XD is empty but everytime I dry fire the trigger it stays stuck and won’t come forward again until it’s racked is that normal!?
Just added one to my inventory. Extremely pleased.
Very excellent and thorough review! I was looking for a good review on it before I decided on whether or not to purchase a .45 with such a small frame. I currently carry the shield in 9mm and I love it. But you just talked me into getting this! I hope they are still including the case with it. The last couple of guns I've purchased (sigs, s&w, kimber & core) all have stopped and started using cheap cardboard cases. Thanks again! Subbed!
What Sig did you get with a cardboard box?
I've never seen Sig or Glock use a cardboard box.
I don't really care as the cases all end up stacked in a big pile in the closet.
The only useful one is a Beretta one that came with a Carbine.
I actually use it sometimes.
Handguns are soooo much easier to take out with a soft range bag.
Sweet gun, nice video. One of my favorite concealed carry pistols
Joe Kim if you’d ever consider selling I really want this pistol
I have the xds mod2 in 45 acp. I use hornaday critical duty in mine. Love it. Did get the 8 round magazine with spacer to fit my hand better
i have all 3, the 9mm the 40sw and the 45acp xds handguns.. love them all, can use the same holster for all 3
Galwegan I am up to 2 subs and 4 SFA guns.
This gun is amazingly accurate for a compact 45. I had a Kahr PM40 and i hated the trigger so i traded it for the XD gen 1. Shot placement improved despite jumping up in power. Its allso incredibly comfortable to carry. The only downside is the rough stippling. I always end up with that grenade patter indented in my hands after shooting. You can find these for $250-350 used
Had rust issues with mine, bought it when it first came out. Was going to be my everyday carry however the rust was so bad it seized up. Compared to my glock 26 or 19 I never had any rust issues under the same conditions.
You're such a good shooter you make all the guns look good. I'm looking at getting a Grand Power p45 because the rotating barrel might reduce the recoil a lot. I've heard the HK kicks like a mule. The FNX 45 seems like it is agreed by most to be the best.
Nothing better than N82 tactical holsters, even for this gun. I have and use the full size gun holster intended for my FNX40 that I carry my XDS45 in. It keeps an inch or more of overlap around the gun keeping it completely off your skin...the perfect package;)
You probably do the most indepth reviews! Like the out takes also!
I have a P227 Elite Stainless and Beautiful! I bought the XDS 45 3.3 today. with the Viridian holster/laser combo which allows the Green laser to be on all the time in the holster and when pulled out, The laser is automatically turns on
Very cool
Just picked mine up on Saturday!
I just picked one up yesterday at the gun show, got it used for 300. I’ve carried them before and traded it. This time I’m keeping it.
Informative review as always - thanks.
I have one of these and its awesome.. recoil isnt really that bad and Im not a big guy
I own all 3 guns and just bought another shield for my daughter's Birthday gift. I trust my life with all of these.
sootch00 handles that recoil like a gangster! lol I've watch quite a few videos on this pistol now and nobody seems to have nearly as much control.
also i really like that color scheme
I have two of them, this is a great firearm
I understand! One for each hand
Yes, these are excellent firearms and I carry them as my EDC
the face when you shoot
Sootch War Face! Lol! Thanks for stopping by Lily : )
Awesome 9mm
sootch00 is good
@Priest or trump
Looks good
Bought an XDS 45 3.3 thanks to the review! Love it, wouldn't sell it for anything!
Yup.... it sure is a powerhouse! Good video... thanks for another good one
Fabulous video! Concise & detailed.
Thx!
I have a Ruger LCP II, Springfield XDS 45 Mk II, Sig Sauer P365, Ruger LCR, Taurus Raging Judge and Mossberg Shockwave
This is a great piece
This was my first handgun I ever bought and I miss it might be picking one up again now thanks
Excellent vid. I'm getting one when I get back home.
got it in 2013 works good, on me every day. I use the 180 solid copper in +p make it a little to carry. good review.
i was looking at this just the other day. thanks for the video.
I have probably close to 2000 rounds through my xds .45 without a single failure. I did have to replace a broken firing pin, but other than that it has worked flawlessly!
I looked at these when I was on the hunt for a small .45 ACP carry piece, along with the Smith and Wesson .45 Shield, and a couple of others. The choice came down to either the XDs .45 or the .45 Shield. Ultimately, I went with the .45 ACP Shield for several reasons, but not the least was the extra round and the improved grip texture of the new Shield. I shot both before buying, and the Shield seemed to manage recoil better, and the only thing I really saw that the XDs had an advantage over the Shield with was the fiber optic front sight. I mean, man! That front sight jumps right out at you, and I really like that. But it's a small change that's easy to do myself if I wanted to throw a fiber optic sight on the front. Other than that, the Shield was more ergonomic with the longer grip and better texture, it managed recoil better than the XDs, and the round count all were the big factors that made my choice simple for me. That being said, the Springfield XDs .45 sub-compact is a nice little pistol, very well made and reliable. You really can't go wrong either way you choose.
I just put XS night sights on mine. What a nightmare! Definitely the hardest install I have ever done.
On mag pricing from Springfield. Springfield usually includes a coupon to buy at discounted prices from the store.
Great review, thank you
A single stack of 45 will get it done if not the problems may not be the gun.
Can someone please help me I have a problem my XD is empty but everytime I dry fire the trigger it stays stuck and won’t come forward again until it’s racked is that normal!?
@@almightymontana3865 Yeah...
@@quangdo6011 lmaooo he shouldn’t own one
Yeah.. multiple perpetrators are the rule not the exception in my area. That's why my XDs 45 became an instant safe queen. Now I'm thinking about making it my backup gun. 2 guns is one..one is none. Love the nozzle on it.
@@almightymontana3865 That's totally normal. That's how semi-autos recock..the slide is like thumb cocking a revolver. For dry fire practice..just move the slide back about half an inch to recock/reset the trigger.😎
@sootch00, thanks for this video. Because I been in desperate search in need for another Springfield XD .45 to where it was compact enough to wear it wouldn't be too big or too heavy dealing with the clothes I would wear. Now I will do more research about the XDS .45 and see if I would have to order online or inside local gun store in my area. If you don't mind me asking what type of holster you use for that XDS. 45 in-line or out-line waistline holster at 4 o'clock?
Great gun. It's the same size as my wife's Glock 43. I've put literally thousands of rounds through mine. Run it wet, but stay away from Perfecta ammo.
Good video, nice out takes. I don't have enough handguns. Debating lately another .45, something more concealable/lighter than my 1911 and more specifically, I want to get AS light and concealable as possible. Already have an old AMT Backup too which is about as small as a 5 shot .45 will ever get but it's still a heavy chunk of metal. Pretty much decided on this, your video helps seal the deal. Thx.
Your a good shot. Thanks for the review.
I've had my XDs .45 for a few years now. I liked it when I got it just fine, but it seems to grow on me whenever I take it out. I've got 1500 - 2000 rounds through it by now and I can't think of even one issue. Accuracy? I shoot it better at SD distances than my G19. (Granted my G19 is sort of new, but the XDs frame is far less clunky) A lot of folks scoff at the grip safety. Well, that's their problem. Sootch put it quite well when he described it here. It's totally passive and reliable. The same applies to my XDm 9mm as well. It's just safer than a striker fired gun without. Despite an early recall, this platform has been ironed out and is now a reliable and shootable mainstay. (In spite of what Yankee Marshall says about .45 ACP) Don't be too shy to try this platform, it will not kick your ass as bad as you think. 50 - 150 rounds in one trip (Plus other guns) is far more manageable than one might expect.
