Just putting this out there for anyone else going to do this job, I bought a 328i rear diff and just swapped the axle stubs and it infact worked and I didnt have to touch my stock axles
Have exact same issue , the diff in my 323 is whining , i know its a pinion bearing ; but why does it fail prematurely and does this issue affect all 323 including facelift ?
@@analoggeneration385 The only difference would be the final drive. The manual having a 3.23 ratio while the auto has a 3.73 ratio. This makes for faster acceleration with the differential from an automatic donor swapped into a manual E90.
@@tonyrincon6400 This would be an open differential, while welding might be an option it definitely wouldn’t be the most advisable one especially for a street going vehicle. There are many LSD options available that can be fitted to these differentials.
Thanks for the video man, i have a 08 323i and its alot easier to find a 328i diff and driveshaft/axles than a 323i diff

Is changing the stubs on the diff hard? Are they just bolted on? I haven’t removed mine to look yet
@@bobsuruncle8520any updates on this? trying to do this to my 323 as well
this does not work the stub spindles are shorter on the 323
What type and size of screws are holding the axles? I need to order some tools to get my diff changed
The CV axle bolts are E14 (x6) per axle

Would i need to change the driveshaft if my car is manual? And the donor car is manual too :
That I am not sure of.
Sorry
Was the donor car automatic or manual, and is your 323i automatic or manual? I will be doing the same swap soon. The diff in my 323 is finished
Both the donor and my car were automatic. I am not sure if it makes a difference

@@combustiontherapy2222 so I have a 3.73 ratio diff I got a 2007 328i? Was trying to get mine welded heard I might not have to do that
