Imagine being one of those "it's only a Mustang if it's a V8" guys who owns one of the Coyote V8's then meets one of these at a stop light. Would pay serious money to see that guy's loser face after that inevitable race.
+coinsagE46m3 Sure the ecoboost would win, but even MAP said that the car was a ticking time bomb running 500hp on the stock block. Serious money would have to go into the ecoboost to have it run reliably at 500hp.
Sheepdog416 That's true, sure, but even if the Ecoboost made even 400whp, which it could (and then some) reliably, it would still trounce the Coyote-powered Mustang by a respectable margin as it would have about 30 more whp and weigh less.
+coinsagE46m3 Also true, but I would rather have a stock car that is almost as fast rather than a heavily modded car that's a little bit quicker (imo).
+Sheepdog416 I would too. I personally would rather have the Coyote - powered Mustang than the EcoBoost any day of the week. I however have mad respect for the tunability of the EcoBoost and recognize just how fast they can get. And I think people that dismiss it simply because it doesn't have a V8, despite the power it can make, are fucking ridiculous.
The Ecoboost Mustang certainly has its place in the market. Where I live there is a $10k price difference between a base Eco vs base GT. Then you need to factor in the added cost of insurance and gas which is also expensive here. My driving is 90% city under 60 km/h. I had a 2011 GT 5.0 and I really couldn't use it anywhere. For someone in my situation who loves the look of the 2015+ design, wants the awesome and refined suspension, and only needs enough power and torque for quick burst here and there, the Ecoboost is a great bang for the buck purchase. Add a Cobb flash tune and the torque easily exceeds the Coyote motor.
This is why I chose my 2015 Ecoboost Premium performance package over a GT. The only thing I did was an Ford Racing CAI and MAP intercooler and a Cobb tune and I had a quiet street sleeper that consistently got over 30mpg on road trips for business and was as fast as GT on the street and I only paid $30k for it new. It was cheap to insure, and actually handled better than the GT due to the lighter weight over the front and squared tire size.
This is just simply awesome. I would've never thought that Ford would release an Ecoboost Mustang but now that they did I've been really interested in getting my hands on one. To see that you've made that much of an improvement in power out of that little 2.3 while still using stock everything engine wise kind of seals the deal for me. My wife works for Ford and I get to enjoy a HUGE discount. Looks like a Stang is in my near future! First call is to MAPerformance.
+Robert Keeton the name is new but ford made turbo 2.3 mustangs in the late 70's to mid 80's, i think the 79 pace car could have it non intercooled but the most known is the 84-86 SVO mustang. different engine of course than now but same displacement.
this car is proof of the Evostang fad thats been going on. Real car guys know the 4G63 is an awesome motor for racing/power/co$t and this 2.3T will open alot of eyes up to the setup. half as much rotating parts less friction/cheaper builds and spend the money on boost - less fueling at part throttle and more room underhood. Im a die hard v8 guy but got to drive a new eco boost auto for a week and they are impressive! Dont fuck around and pull up beside one from a dead stop in your v8 and get your feelings hurt! I’m doing the same things right now, getting a big power build set up , for 600whp-900whp , which is different then the set up for under 700whp. Big power set up uses different block and head, lower power set up also uses different block but retains the factory head which is limited to 700whp and even at those lower level your expecting head lift and air flow problems. That why anything above 650-700whp they use the 4 port ecoboost head , and the lower power is the factory head 2.3 TS head. So really depends what your goals are. Stock ecoboost mustang engine can make 400whp reliable. And only need a nx2 turbo and intercooler to be at 400whp. Above that you need to go into building and bigger turbos
By the time you add up ALL these mods and labour at a good performance shop,(plus the cost of the car) you might be damn close in price to a used 13-14 gt500 !!!!!!!

Crazy that you can make 500WHP on stock fuel system. I know the Focus ST injectors top out at 350WHP. I would of thought that since Focus ST Stock motor can hit 500WHP, the 2.3L could get at least 600WHP. Cool to see that these motors can equally put down about the same amount of power. When will displacement come into effect and be able to beat the 2.0 as far as HP?
what makes you guys think the stock block cant handle much more, or are you more worried about the bottom end? i mean changing sensors and seals would be pretty straight forward but you guys think your gonna blow a sleeve?
+samuel lopes You can say that again lol. You can delete the egr system with a proper delete kit and uncheck the code with the right tuning software. Or you can just clean the valves every 40,000 miles. I have to clean mine next month. Good times.
The Factory Cranks and blocks are damn stout and will likely hold up quite well with only 500 hp and 450 tq...in the late 80's these blocks and cranks held 600 hp, beefier rqce blocks held 850 hp. Hey also what type of dyno you using...a Mustang dyno? the dream killer dyno as they are known.
how much power can u expect from a unleashed tune with ur car having aftermarket downpipe y pipe resonator delete to axle backs air intake and intercooler ?
About to get a track pack performance pack 2018 ecoboost and I'm super excited. I used to own an ND miata but someone ran a red light and totalled it. Wanted to get another fun car and my roommate recently got an s550 ecoboost and let me drive it a bit. It's such a good platform and actually handles incredibly well (honestly imo even better than my miata). How hard would you say it is to tune this car and what would you recommend for a first time owner?
Where is Phase 2? I see P1 and P1.5 Trying to decide if I should build up my 15 EBM over time by purchasing part for part ... or if it is better to buy a package like the P1.5 or P2 because of the possible savings and R&D behind it. Thanks
Also note the Aux Fuel system I have seen an install for on AM if I recall is no where to be found. Search results online showed a picture of it next to the original store page link but when I click it only unrelated universal Aeromotive systems appear.
with all of the modifications, would you still consider this a daily driver car? I currently have an 07 WRX and I'm looking for a new car to make a fun/fast daily driver. MPG? Aside from that, AWESOME build. I love it.
+sclouisvillefan Thanks!! Glad to hear your feedback. Anything up to around 400whp would be fine for a daily. Our turbo kit can get you there no problem and you wont see much change if any at all in MPGs. It certainly is a blast, though! You will love it.
hi guys, that looks incredible ! I am in Ireland and have ordered the ecoboost for delivery later this year. first time ever the mustang is available in Europe in right hand drive. I really want to upgrade this motor and these mods look superb. 1) are these mods going to fit the ecoboost in right hand drive model for Europe? I would assume so but if you could check it out , it would be great. 2) do you export across the atlantic because I need these mods in Ireland !!
Anthony O Neill Thank you!! We really appreciate your e for our products. We ship international no problem. Could you email pictures of your engine bay to adam@maperformance.com ? He will be able to answer your question more accurately.
dude just because Ford didn't install an intercooler that could handle 500 horsepower doesn't mean it's crap. It serves its purpose as a daily driver stock unit.
By far the best sounding ecoboost, I love it! I am intrested in purchasing the big turbo kit although I heard you say, "we are sitting on a time bomb here." If I do install the kit will my engine blow at some point?
+WatrFly You can tune the turbo kit safely to still make great power but have it be more reliable. We said sitting on a time bomb because ours was tuned so high but our 93 tune safely makes 390whp/410wtq! If you have any further questions feel free to give us a call or email Adam directly.

When will displacement come into effect and be able to beat the 2.0 as far as HP?
Is this engine holding up still this was 9 years ago???
Crazy!!! ... cool!
what makes you guys think the stock block cant handle much more, or are you more worried about the bottom end? i mean changing sensors and seals would be pretty straight forward but you guys think your gonna blow a sleeve?
good video . I'm guessing the direct injection gives a big advantage in making all that power.
Direct fuel injection is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Bad carbon buildup on the intake valves is the only drawback
+samuel lopes You can say that again lol. You can delete the egr system with a proper delete kit and uncheck the code with the right tuning software. Or you can just clean the valves every 40,000 miles. I have to clean mine next month. Good times.
i think most of the buildup comes from the PCV system..
+samuel lopes No sir.
The Factory Cranks and blocks are damn stout and will likely hold up quite well with only 500 hp and 450 tq...in the late 80's these blocks and cranks held 600 hp, beefier rqce blocks held 850 hp. Hey also what type of dyno you using...a Mustang dyno? the dream killer dyno as they are known.
price for this build including labor?
Man I hope you still got this car, how much was it to make the power out of that ecoboost block?
how much power can u expect from a unleashed tune with ur car having aftermarket downpipe y pipe resonator delete to axle backs air intake and intercooler ?
Ever get a number on how many miles the block lasted before it blew up?
About to get a track pack performance pack 2018 ecoboost and I'm super excited. I used to own an ND miata but someone ran a red light and totalled it. Wanted to get another fun car and my roommate recently got an s550 ecoboost and let me drive it a bit. It's such a good platform and actually handles incredibly well (honestly imo even better than my miata). How hard would you say it is to tune this car and what would you recommend for a first time owner?
Damn this car sounds sexy can't Waite to get my hands on one
the coolest thing about this is the stock block..
+dustyowl99 XRAZY HOW you guys make that power without blowing that thing up
This is a kool build, but it won't last long on stock internals.
I know I already had to rebuild engine at 4,700 miles. BRAND NEW CAR
Adam Hicks you mean you had to rebuild your ecoboost engine damn son where you driving it hard or something?
Adam Hicks how did you rebuild it , I'm looking at upgrading the turbo but idk what i need
Awesome!!!!! I really want this in my life!
Joshua Wirht We could arrange that... Give us a call!
MAPerformance hows does this effect the mpg? Also, is it ok to have this set up in california? we have smog check laws
Where is Phase 2?
I see P1 and P1.5
Trying to decide if I should build up my 15 EBM over time by purchasing part for part
...
or if it is better to buy a package like the P1.5 or P2 because of the possible savings and R&D behind it.
Thanks
Also note the Aux Fuel system I have seen an install for on AM if I recall is no where to be found.
Search results online showed a picture of it next to the original store page link but when I click it only unrelated universal Aeromotive systems appear.
The Ford Supra!
+Peter Grooms Shit they should put a 3.5 ecoboost in the mustang
No the ford "supra" is the aussie barra motor 4lt turbo six
with all of the modifications, would you still consider this a daily driver car? I currently have an 07 WRX and I'm looking for a new car to make a fun/fast daily driver. MPG?
Aside from that, AWESOME build. I love it.
+sclouisvillefan Thanks!! Glad to hear your feedback. Anything up to around 400whp would be fine for a daily. Our turbo kit can get you there no problem and you wont see much change if any at all in MPGs. It certainly is a blast, though! You will love it.
Is the block really that bad in the 2.3 or if u put good internals and made sure everything was oiled good that should hold at least 700hp
Its crazy how much hate the eco boost gets but I think with some tlc they can gap alot of other cars
That's bad ass, just it's crazy I'm not used to hearing a mustang sound like that, doesn't have that deep muscle car sound like the 5.0
ive found a nice 2014 GT premium and a 2017 ecoboost premium with close to the same mileage for the same asking price, which would you take?
Do you guys make California compliant cold air intakes for the 2018 model ecoboost?
we are working on CARB certifications for our products, but as of now they are not certified!
hi guys, that looks incredible !
Do you have anything planned for the new Ford Focus RS? Basically same engine with some upgrades from the factory.
+Pepino We are certainly hoping to get our hands on one!
dude just because Ford didn't install an intercooler that could handle 500 horsepower doesn't mean it's crap. It serves its purpose as a daily driver stock unit.
Almost no lag
By far the best sounding ecoboost, I love it! I am intrested in purchasing the big turbo kit although I heard you say, "we are sitting on a time bomb here." If I do install the kit will my engine blow at some point?
+WatrFly You can tune the turbo kit safely to still make great power but have it be more reliable. We said sitting on a time bomb because ours was tuned so high but our 93 tune safely makes 390whp/410wtq! If you have any further questions feel free to give us a call or email Adam directly.
+MAPerformance Will there be a Christmas special price for the turbo kit?I would sure love to pick one up if there was.
+roy e Our Halloween sale is still running today for 10% off! Otherwise it will likely be on sale again for the holidays.
