This kit is a bulletproof gigging set. Phenomenal sound with rock solid hardware that won’t break the bank. A head change is of paramount importance and once done, you’ll enjoy the resonance for days on stage.
Great sounding kit especially at that price point. I like that the toms mount on the kick drum, and the 10, 12, 16 is also a cool setup. I kind of feel like I'd rather have the kick drum be a 22x16 on this kit, but overall, this seems like a great choice for drummers looking for a first pro level set.
I have always been impressed by these kits hearing and playing them for the price they sound great, usually the toms and the kick drum really shine and the snare doesn't but in this video the snare sounds pretty good and the kick sounds a little off to me in my opinion, maybe tuned a little too tight for my taste but that's just me thanks for the review.
I have a CM7 and have been more than pleased. The hardware is amazing for what you pay for the kit. Switched out my head's to G2s and the kit sounds excellent. I don't think anything else comes close at this price point and I spent a good six months before I pulled the plug.
just got one of these used and i love it, the only way I get the floor tom to sound like that is by cranking it way up and putting 3 pieces of moon gel on it
Great review. Would it be an option to have a little section towards the end of videos where you put nicer heads on the more affordable kits to see the difference that makes?
Just got this kit and tunes easily. Evans EC2s for me. This kit is comparable to my Sonor AC2 Stage kit with same heads, but WAY less money. About half the price! Luv em both. Spend the extra dough on quality upgrade for any kit...really quality cymbals.
Yes i think these kits are the best value on the market at this price point, i own one along with its big brother and the sound difference is negligible!
That's a very common thing I've heard from people talking about the PDP kits since the M5, M7 and X7 kits came out. I'd say this kit is much better than a DW Performance kit.
@@BoogieWoogieCat yep. Idk if I’d go as far as to say its better necessarily, not that I disagree, its just hard for me to say. But if u have a 3,000 dollars to spend on a kit, ur better off going concept and saving the rest for awesome cymbals and hardware... or coffee 😂 the difference in sound is definitely not 2,000 worth
I had a collectors kit and honestly I hated it. No attack or definition whatsoever and sound men said they sounded bad lol. I sold them but have had the chance to play few different PDP kits and I really liked and enjoyed playing all of them!
I thought the drum sounded quite good! All aspects of it. I did not like to finish. I did not like the mounting system for the toms it looks a little bit obtrusive for my liking.
DW frustrates me so much that they don’t port their kick drum heads. It just means that the buyer has to go cut it themselves and we don’t get a good sample of the kick drum in reviews like this.
Not even close to a Mapex Armory, that i would pick over this eye-blinded. 12 tom and 16ft sounded bad to me, Bass drum is ok but not great. 10 tom was nice and Snare drum is cute. I like the color :)
I'm being truthful here. I've been totally off PDP forever. The old lines made in Mexico had about a 33% return rate for poor construction. My kit? 13 bad shells in a row. Badly cut bearing edges that were untunable. The PDP rep was absolutely the worst and devious to deal with. My 10" tom was pulled from my order and sent to Long and Mcquade in Canada. I ended up having all my shells re-cut by a drum shop (Cask drumcraft) in Idaho. I will never deal with PDP again, I'd not play them for free. They are the worst quality and have the worst customer service in the USA.
@@zenoncastro1809 You need to get out more. You obviously know nothing. Every guitar center I have been to corroborate this. I've seen the bad kits. There is no fucking way that I'm alone. You have no clue.
The PDP logo looks so much nicer in the DW font. Looks a lot more professional.
Yet they both sound like pooh

As crazy as it sounds... you seriously have the best voice for narration...
Underrated drum set. Really excellent quality hardware too, the tom mounts are rock solid in my experience.
Concept Maple is a fantastic sounding kit at any price. Just bought one and it’s my favorite set ever.
I swear you could make any kit with any setup sound absolutely stellar! Great job as always =)
I have same kit and it sounds lovely. Thank you guys, I bought it just after your video. =)
Amazing sounding kit. Those toms in particular are spot on!
Sounds amazing! Even with the stock heads, I cant imagine how good itwill sound with a nice set of evans G2 and G1 on it
These kits sound amazing with old school pinstripes. If you haven't yet check out the review by sweetwater with Nick D'virgilio
im loving the single ply stock heads right now. what would you recommend i get when the time comes; more single ply, or go for double ply? -thx

They are definitely high end at an affordable price I have a cm exotic I use pinstripes and they just have the ideal sound that I love
hey guys thanks for making this video! i actually ended up buying a concept maple because of this video and i LOVE IT :)
Ya me too, I also bought a DW 3 position but plate for the snare. Oh!
same here.
Sounds great, beautiful color
Some of the best sounding toms I’ve ever heard.
The over head shot is the best on a super looking and super sounding kit
Ouu, awesome. I'm hoping you guys try out the Tama-Superstar Classic soon.
EverythingisFire superstar is okay. Concept maple and Yamaha stage custom are better kits IMO
just got one of these used and i love it, the only way I get the floor tom to sound like that is by cranking it way up and putting 3 pieces of moon gel on it
Now this is a kit that should have been painted the same colour inside. This kit really looks awesome!
Look and sounds lovely... I'd love to hear some coated ambassadors on it!
Great review. Would it be an option to have a little section towards the end of videos where you put nicer heads on the more affordable kits to see the difference that makes?
This kit is badass,I might buy it.
Great review! Presented in an informative and professional way. Thanks, keep up the good work.
What a beautiful kit!
Got rid of my PDPs PDQ ! Character-free sound , sorry to say . I’m old ! But chapeau to Nolly and DR for excellent reviews ! Keep on keepin’ on !
As a drummer, when I heard this kit live, I assumed it was easily in the low thousands in terms of price point. Sound is astonishing for $700.
would you select this kit over a Gretsch Catalina?
Just got this kit and tunes easily. Evans EC2s for me. This kit is comparable to my Sonor AC2 Stage kit with same heads, but WAY less money. About half the price! Luv em both. Spend the extra dough on quality upgrade for any kit...really quality cymbals.
Excellent video. A more open question what's best a ported or un ported bass drum sound. Could you do a video on this topic ?
Yes i think these kits are the best value on the market at this price point, i own one along with its big brother and the sound difference is negligible!
Does this have the same specs as the PDP Concept Maple 5-piece - Satin Pewter?
I miss some orange details in the rack toms as well in the floor tom
What's the kick stuffed with?
What microphones are those on the toms?
This kit sounds much better than some of the collectors series drums I've heard, and all for the price of a collectors snare drum ! LOL 🤣🤣
That's a very common thing I've heard from people talking about the PDP kits since the M5, M7 and X7 kits came out. I'd say this kit is much better than a DW Performance kit.

Good review from sound to inhalt 👌🏻👍🏻
i wish nolly played the drums and demo it
How many snares are there?lug
Those PDP snare drums are the true gems. The rest, eh, soso. But the snare, wow.
Are the hoops 1.6mm or 2.3mm?
Keep hearing these referred to as "lacquer" finish. They all that I've seen are urethane. My black to natural fade finish is urethane.
This or stage custom?
dude i bought this one and i cant say enough good things about it. my vote is pdp all day long :)
Please do a review on Tage Sonor Prolite stage3 drumset
Awesome.
imagine Destiny 2 gear and gun reviews done with Nolly's voice-over...
Nice snare...the rest ok as well.
I thought the drum sounded quite good! All aspects of it. I did not like to finish. I did not like the mounting system for the toms it looks a little bit obtrusive for my liking.
good sound but a bit hazy, less selective
I think that is caused for the bad factory skins they fitted in.
I love you
DW frustrates me so much that they don’t port their kick drum heads.
It just means that the buyer has to go cut it themselves and we don’t get a good sample of the kick drum in reviews like this.
You could put a generic evans or Remo ported drum head on it like a evans eq3 one of my favorites
Anyone else just want to be Nolly's mate.

That color sold me the kit in .0 seconds.
Looks like a karaoke kit
I don’t care for the tom mounting system looks clumsy.
Not a fan of the kick drum.
Hey nollster, your beard is magnificent but could use a trim ;)
DW is too good, now their budget line is better than the collectors or just as good for like 1/6th of the price or something tbh

Scott Lowell you’re the only person I’ve ever come across who has had these issues
How in the hell did you put up with them enough times to get to 13?!?
I bought a kit from them that had the same issues, I just returned it straight away. It was untunable.
If if they changed? If they were that bad, I'd change the company by now.
