Well, it can keep a person as qualified as House employed, and it's also a Teaching Hospital. The outside shots also show its pretty big, and the inside rooms and halls too. Suffice to say it's pretty swank.
Wow so there's a small in-universe explanation (or acknowledgement) of Hugh Laurie sometimes walking with his cane in the opposite hand from his damaged leg! Nice.
There are a lot of doctors that recommended using equipment on the side of your non-injured leg to "strengthen" the hurt one. Which might work for some people but not if you're in a lot of pain. Your brain pretty quickly tells you to take the pressure off of your pain.

why didnt they put an IV entrance on his arm before going to seizure if you are planning on getting blood from patient while seizing and risk breaking his arm?
My question as well. Yes, I know it's a show, but trying to get blood from a patient mid-seizure looked a little ridiculous - although more dramatic and impressive. Btw, I absolutely LOVE this show. ❤
My physical therapist once talked about people on shows using canes the wrong way and than talked about house and I said there is a episode that proves he did it on purpose
Just FYI, DO NOT hold someone down who is having a seizure! Not only can it hurt them, you can and will get really messed up by them. Nothing worse than an ambulance 🚑 pulling up and seeing one person seizing and another unconscious bect to them bleeding from the head.
Yeah, I was horrified and mystified when she told them to hold him still but then I realized it was because she needed to insert a needle into his arm to draw blood. Definitely never hold someone down during a seizure! You are right about that for sure.
@Ella Neruda I am hoping that they character who said that was a "trauma nurse" or part of a rapid response team trained to do that. Unless you've got years of experience and are properly trained on such a high risk stick... you don't. A Doctor can come set up a central line if it goes on for too long as well. But a group of ER nurses and Doctors holding someone down for an IV with a seizure under 5 minutes, that's a big old NO NO.

You can’t restrain someone with a seizure. I believe what you do is you carefully lay them on their side and keep your fingers away from them otherwise the person can bite down on you. You back off and give them space until the episode is over.
you "can't" because it could cause injury as their muscles violently contract, but in this case other concerns supercede those injuries - yes to putting them on their side in the recovery position in case of vomit, but that doesn't help if you don't attempt to keep them there, while not restraining them, and most importantly, remove and protect them from environmental hazards as much as possible, especially their head, neck, and spine!
Never restrain someone when they’re having a seizure. Especially don’t try and put anything in their mouth like that nurse tried to with the suction. Had to use a cane for a while, doctor explained to me that the idea is to distribute only 50% of your weight off your leg to it, so it (the weak leg) never bears all of it. With the cane being on the same side as the sick leg, your center of mass would basically have to be between the leg and the cane, hence why house leans INTO it every time which isn't optimal. Simplest example, imagine being stopped in time in a middle of your step. If you're raising your sick leg- no issue, the healthy leg can bear your weight. If you're raising your healthy leg (with the cane on the same side)- problem, you now have to balance your center of mass on the sick side with the cane and the leg being inches apart. If you're raising your healthy leg (with the cane on the opposite side)- no problem, you are essentially "standing" on two legs, and can lean on the cane. Hope that makes sense :) Actually glad the show addressed this, I was so confused how a medical show could get something so basic wrong.
