At least the cyclist is smarter than some of the patients on this show. He knew he had confidentiality, so he gave them all the information he had, instead of trying to hide it.
At least this clip gives us the ending. Always have to scavenge hunt for them in the comments XD
@@theatog😭😭 right???
Less embarrassed, less shameful, not smarter
They break confidentiality all the time on this show 😅

“Congratulations Chase, it’s cancer.” Brutal
I read it as " Congratulations Chase, its not a lawsuit"
@@foxalpha09 right but the patient still has cancer which would technically be the worst case scenario…for them.

What Chase is actually saying: "You're under mild sedation"
What automatically generated CC are saying: "You're under masturbation"
💀💀😳😳
Hey who knows, we can't see Chases hands during that scene, the cc may be correct!
@@KrakenIsland64 😁😆
To be fair, it did sound like he was saying "masturbation".
That's the best thing I've seen today.
4:58 "fantastic alpacas thanks"

that's just pure foreshadowing of what Chase becomes down the line
"Assuming I'm more ethical than your client" 😂😂😂

The setup for calling Chase "Goldilocks" was just... epic, its like an ERB verse, layered in meanings :)

The craziest thing to me is how these hyper-specified diagnosticians know how to operate all these delicate, precise medical instruments with ease.
Well the show technically did tell you house is given 3 one of the best doctors the hospital can give him, it ain't much but it's something lol
It's almost like if all the show was was a bunch of other doctors preforming tests the show would not have been very interesting.
It's not far-fetched at all, atleast in this episode.
Chase is ICU and surgical, he absolutely knows his way around a cather and removing an emboli.
Cameron is immunology, she'll have done LPs before.
@@R_J8 Nah, Foreman is neurology, he'd have definitely done LPs before
You want half the show to be some radiologists running tests? Grow up and enjoy the show
FFS, I'm British and I grew up watching Hugh Laurie in various shows- ALWAYS playing a upper class English "gent" - even I forget now and again that he isn't an American doctor! 🤣

aspects of this case I would say is also an example of why doctors have records for you over time to develop an understanding of what your normal is
With all the chemicals, doping and oxygen, who can be sure what his normal really is? So many variables in play.
@@davidcox3076 as op said, you can look up the records as far back before he uses dope. So long as it exist and well-kept
Meanwhile IRL, 90% of docs don't really read them.
There's a great story on UA-cam by former cycling pro Chris Horner about how important it is to get doctors to understand YOUR normal. He underwent a stress test where oxygen supply was gradually lowered. When his breathing remained normal, the nurse ran out of the room screaming. (Horner won La Vuelta, a gruelling 3-week-race, at age 41. Now in his 50s, still very fit.)
@@MJ-uk6lu facts, I've never actually had a doctor check my medical history, only ever ask me some vague questions, then make an assessment from there lol
"So glad we cured his respiratory arrest, freed him up to develop respiratory arrest"
Goof: the tape where Lisa Edelstein stands for her mark is visible at 1:08.
Wow, that's one heck of a leave. How did no-one spot that?
Good catch!
It was so subtle too. That 14 inch neon green X on the dark tile floor.
The color of the tape makes me think they erase it digitally, and forgot to do it for this scene
As this was back in 2005, these types of errors were more common. I’m surprised the tape wasn’t blue but neon green works with green screen I guess.
Chase: "Is the symptom: death?"
Thank you!
I cracked on that one
2:59 "is the symptom death?" I lost it🤣
@1:43
The comedic timing on Cuddy's line is perfection
The timing on her eye roll and face slap was also immaculate
"Chase, were you wearing your short shorts?"
Loved this show...they did a solid breakdown for the audience in a dialogue form without dumbing it down too much
1:53 I feel like these 2 seconds basically sums up Cuddy for the entire series.
House had some of the best lines ever spoken by a character on television 😂😂😂 I love the writing so much and Hugh really did everything to bring this amazing character to life!
"I know that doping has risks, I know that it's outside the rules. I do what I have to to kickass at my job. Don't you?"
*chugs Vicodin*
Not to mention that many doctors only make it through college, Ned school, and residency by taking copious amounts of meds. Seriously, the number of pre-Med students I’ve taught that were doing was insane.
3:36 Foreman's groan and House saying "Come to Papa." makes me giggle every time.
“professional athlete, Cuddy!” the way he said is so realistic

00:16 Cuddy just said "30 miles per hour" 😮
Cuddy has me at 30mph ❤️🔥😭
"you are healed. Rise, and walk."
Things I find interesting when watching this clip...
• I still take offense to people using medical treatments for non medical *needs*. As someone who is dependent on IV hydration and nutrition is a daily thing. Ibjave several friends who also require medical "stuff" to survive the day. So when there is a national shortage of medical supplies and medications and we are forced to "ration" what is available all while watching someone just pay money to receive it... is more than annoying.
When the "hangover IVs" and IV vitamin infusions could be recieved in IV Barsthere was also a shortage of some brands of saline bags. Causing the insurance to refuse/debate payment for the higher priced brands. Those who require these IV infusions are edge out. And because of the chronic health issues even those whoa be able to pay our of pocket to use the IV Bar service cannot even do so. Being healthy is ironically a requirent to recieve anything at IV Bar.
So there's that.

The variety of accents coupled with all the medical terminology... They translated "embolus" to "ambulance" as well as "I'll pack his things" to "alpacas thanks"... And omg, the Barbara Walters "spit cup" became Barbara Walters Bitcoin???? This show was prophetic!
6:27 that cut makes it look like House was the only one to leave the room.

"Lupus"? Lol. It's fun knowing this series well enough to know it's oft-used tropes. :)
It's never lupus.
It's been over an hour since we've poked him with something sharp 🤣
Ordering an ANA for lupus is like calling any shipwreck you scan for with LiDAR the Titanic, LOL.
the ANA test is very sensitive, but has low specificity. So, if the ANA is positive, it could be LUPUS (among other things, or nothing rheuma). But if the ANA is negative, then is almost definetly not lupus
@@w4m4n Sure. But those tests need to be done every few months consistently over the course of a few years for an accurate diagnosis, you're not going to diagnose lupus with one of any test, because autoimmune diseases require the element of time, not the way it's seen in this show. It's never lupus because House can't diagnose lupus in the setting commonly presented here

Like don’t be alarmed, I’m a doctor. As he holds a bone saw
The fact house is always high off vis and is still a better doctor than everybody speaks volumes
9:33 - strange that a hospital would have an open cup of jumbled sugar cubes and not individualized packets of sugar.
20 years later, the actor playing the cyclist would star in a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie about time travel, playing an actor from the 1940s. Very enjoyable popcorn flick.
No one is going about Taraji???🤦🏽♀️

“Still trying to unload the Barbara Walters spit cup.”
WHY DID I HAVE TO CLICK ON THIS VIDEO HOURS AFTER SHE DIED?!? 😭😭
Irony: his doping was the thing keeping him being normal and alive.
The least believable thing about this episode was that anyone in the US cares about a single cyclist other than Lance Armstrong (but only because he had ball cancer and used steroids out the wazoo).
