This is one of those songs you heard growing up as a teenager (1970s Chicago) on the FM dial that didn't get much air time but because it was "catchy" you always seemed to remember it....and yet thanx to modern technology 40yrs later you can hear it anytime you want....life huh?
My Cousins the Carley brothers took me to see the band in 1977 in Mobile! Great Time! Thank you Donnie, Robbie, Doug, Gary and Greg! (And thanks Cousins Linda and Sharon!) Aunt Jane and Uncle Bob!
Snowbound in Chicago during the January blizzard of '78, when I attended my first Wet Willie concert and they played all the best songs off their new album "Manorisms." Still have that album in my collection today.
We always made a stop at Judge Roy Beans after a day at the beach. Sundays were always happening at the Beans. I loved the burgers from the open pit and the saddle bar stools. Good Times.
awesome song jimmy and wet willie, been enjoying your music for 30 years, thanks for bringin your cuz donna on, she has such good rythuym, ya'll play the music i like ;)
It resonates with me. I always liked doo-wop (from Philly) but to hear a southern rock band do a tribute to it... and yes, they I guess we talk kind of like that, y'all
Keep On Smiling... That's really the only Wet Willie song that got Airplay up here in Michigan. I've got their Greatest Hits and Manorisms on vinyl. Love the band though never had a chance to see em. Clear your head and enjoy your mental health day (I take them too) and Keep On Smiling and Remember.... Grits Ain't Groceries, Eggs Ain't Poultry and Mona Lisa Was A Man.... !!!!! Always loved this song Grits Ain't Groceries. And of course there are those who think the Mona Lisa Was A self portrait. Could be.... Be well brother
This is a great version but I think I like the Studio Version off of the Manorisms LP. You can hear the Piano more. With the horns and great vocals... it's AWESOME
I so Jimmy take over for Hank Jr it was fantastic I saw wet Willie on the same show with Skynyrd Skynyrd was putting me to sleep that night in my hometown of their hometown Jacksonville Florida Skynyrd The outlaws and wet Willie and wet Willie kicked ass
@@DavidSmith-uo9je , sounds like the same show I saw in Nashville years ago, except that The Atlanta Rhythm Section was also on the bill that night too opening the show.
Someone please help me remember! It was around 74ish I was with some friends on Dolphin Island ( I think ) and some bands were playing some doing covers and what not then a band came out and got my attention straight away with horns and the lead Man played a harmonica as well as other instruments through the show. Needless to say I just partied harder but I could almost swear I heard this song and one called Keep on Smiling as well as something about Grits. Was that them? What year was it? Or was I on a beach somewhere else close to the Island? I've gotten to old to remember, Please help!
Not too bad but then anything after "Keep on smiling is a let down."I want to like it. I love the saxphone-always have and always will. The sax does nothing but add to any song
If this song doesn't make you smile, check your pulse.
Two legends, one burned down and the other is still burning it up!
Saw Wet Willie at the Bitter End with my girlfriend Trudy around 1972. Jimmy Hall was and still is phenomenal. Incredible memory.
World class local talent.
Man, I sure was wishing this band had more than one or two hits. I absolutely love "Keep on Smiling".
I miss this place so much.
This is one of those songs you hear once or twice, growing up then spend 40yrs asking everyone if they remember a song that goes. ...

Surely do miss Judge's. Tons of great memories.
When he tours with Jeff Beck and belts out the old Sam Cooke classic "A Change Is Gonna Come", it absolutely gives you chill bumps.

Yeah sister D knows how to shake it.
Come join wet Willie family & friends group on Facebook
Jeff (Alabama) Cooke on guitar wearing the ballcap by any chance?
Lol ..Sounds like the sax on Saturday Night Live!
No lip-syncing or backing tracks here 🙃
Is the nursing home in the front?

Yes, that was Mobile's Jimmy Hall and Wet Willie playing at Dauphin Island.
Not too bad but then anything after "Keep on smiling is a let down."I want to like it. I love the saxphone-always have and always will. The sax does nothing but add to any song
I can barely remember my street corner Serenade
I could never understand why "Keep on Smilin"" was a big hit and this was not.
Old brother Willie getting soak and wet!
Sing it out loud
I have a theory. Wet Willie faded away because Mick Jagger already had the job. Can be no other explanation.
Old Pirate much rather this than the stones....
I've never seen Mickey play any instrument
That balloon is not worthy of the Jimmy hall band
I'm boogeying in my wheelchair
I'm boogying in my wheelchair
The band is cookin'! Too bad it's in front of the wine sippin' crowd 😒
Seen wet Willie in concert before. I enjoy his music.
