Finally someone who's giving this season the attention it deserved. I thought Kobe would die during one of these games. He never sat. One of the greatest if not THE greatest. Thank you DOM2K
Niegel Ligon Jr. I don't remember anyone arguing that LeBron should've won MVP over Curry. In 2015 it was between Harden and Curry then in 2016 Curry ran away with it. Like I said, Kobe may have carried LA and balled but he didn't have a better season than LeBron in anyway. Not to mention LeBron finished 2nd in DPOY and was 1 vote from winning MVP unanimously. That 1 vote was for Melo... not Kobe.
Adam Silver's Best Friend there's some slight truth to that. He shouldn't win it every year, but his name should always be in the conversation. He's more valuable to the LEAGUE than anyone else.
What's even more crazy is that if Kobe never suffered the Achilles at the level he was still playing at & the rate in which he was scoring at Kobe could have easily retired as the All time leading scorer in NBA history as well as the All time Playoffs Scorer & All time All star game scorer to put things in prespective Kobe Bryant would have been the gold standard for NBA scoring at every level. Kobe Bryant in my opinion is highly underrated he without a doubt deserves to be Top 5 All Time.
212keith at 6’8 250-260 with his skill set, We should expect him to. That’s how he proves he belongs in the conversation. Kobe was a guard doing that shit. Lebron will never be better even if he’s supposed to be.
212keith foh nigga. The warriors were injured, fatigued from going for the record and lost the player that keeps them together defensively in game 7 just like the cavs losing klove and kyrie. It wouldn’t have stopped lebron obviously because of his fucking size ,mainly, and his skill set.
Lebron will retire as a top 3 player in NBA history but I’d say Kobe was a better player skill wise. They both have high IQs and for Kobe’s size, he played bigger than 6’6, 200-210 lbs. Lebron is a beast too but most of that is because no one else in the NBA has that type of body. He plays on the perimeter and he’s 6’8 250-280 lbs. I never heard of another perimeter player being that big and strong. Lebron can get to the rim an any point. But I feel like if Kobe was that big, he’d use that size better than Lebron. Kobe totally evolved into another player when he got into his late 20s and 30s by developing one of the best mid range jumpshots we’ve ever seen, developing a post game, and he had a decent 3 point game. When playing against Lebron, you want to make him shoot. Now when Lebron is mad, and he is making his jumpshots, you night as well call it a night cause he’s going to destroy you. But that’s not something you have to consistently worry about. Lebrons a beast but give Kobe his size and strength but with Kobe’s drive, we’ll be saying Kobe’s the King
This season was legitimately legendary. I feel so blessed to have seen him in person when he had his triple double against Dallas on 4-2-13.... only 2 weeks later his achilles popped. I watched every game that year. I've never seen a guy will his team night after night like he did. It solidified him in my mind as a permanent top 10 player, to do that at his age. And he will always be my favorite, regardless of what haters wanna say. Very few guys have ever had the heart he did, much less combined with such incredible all-around skill.
was at Staples when he got the 65 against Portland in 2007. had nosebleed seats, but didn't matter cause the energy and sheer disbelief and bodily contortions and foot-stomps people had to let out over and over was just, man....waaay beyond amazing.
At one point in that season the Lakers were 8 games under .500 when Kobe guaranteed they'd make the playoffs and finished the season 8 games over .500. Simply amazing
This season should be remembered as the year Kobe changed a lot of perceptions of his game. He was a great distributor this year and adopted a real passing mentality that most of his haters love to use in arguments.
Kobe could average 7-8 assists a game if he wanted too, he has that kinda IQ/feel for the game, the problem is he rather take ridiculous shots. And I love Kobe, I'm just being honest.
Josh Lopez I agree but I think it's more of him being supremely confident in himself and not so much in his teammates who he feels don't put in the same kind of work on their game like he does. We can say that's his weakness overall as a team basketball player but doing it his way got him as many rings as the best overall team if the last 20 years in the Spurs.
Kobe's competitive nature puts him alongside MJ. Dude is exciting to watch. Playing through injuries and still putting up ridiculous numbers. Relentless, killer, clutch, etc. etc, That's what separates him with other NBA superstars. I really miss watching Kobe the Black Mamba Bryant!
Lol what do you mean what do I think, I'm a Lakers fan and well aware of the carry job that Kobe Bryant did that season although this video was a rlly great way of exemplifying things that I didn't quite know
All those stats and that was his, what, 17th career bro? Sheesh. Mamba still doing great things till he retired man, that's why there won't be another Bean bro. #KOBE
He was the best player in the league this season.. carried them til his knee gave out..... he was cooking klay barnes and steph... he won so many games clutch af.
Weallgotit he was also underrated because ESPN made an effort to throw him under the bus since the acquitted rape case. He fought harder than any superstar to win. Wasted 4 years of his prime.with smush parker and Kwame brown. Got denied Chris Paul for "basketball reasons " . Then as the video presents, gave it his all to put his team in the playoffs while.playing against OKC titans Spurs Memphis
I completely agree with everything being said in this video. I remember this season like it was yesterday. Kobe pretty much was single handedly willing the Lakers into the playoffs playing heavy minutes and playing through injuries to the point where his Achilles tore. It's a shame we didn't have a better coach at that time or at least a little more depth on the roster to reduce the burden on Kobe's shoulders. I truly believe that had the Lakers taken a Spurs approach with Kobe, he probably would still be playing today. All those accumulated minutes that season led to the injury that marked the end of it all
Bro your a beast for this nobody talks about this I remember vividly watching like Kobe is doing way too much at this age but he was actually killing it. I remember thinking this cant last through the playoffs. He was having a great week too before that injury I vividly remember that. You too real for this video 💯
The 2010 season was the year where Kobe hit all the game winners, but yeah both seasons were legendary. And he definitely should have gotten one of Lebrons mvps in either 09 or 10
Looking at those numbers, I wouldn't even say Jordan was better at age 34. Kobe's numbers were just better. Sure MJ had 1.4 more points and 1.9 less turnovers, but the big difference is Kobe averaged 2.5 more assists and shot 8.6% better from the 3, so I'd give the slight edge to Kobe. Best age 34 season of all time and I never forget this one it is one of my all time favorite Kobe seasons (Right up there with '01-'03, '06 and '08-'10) despite the fact that it ended in tragedy.
Anthony Dean Don’t forget about 2007. He entered the season after having had knee surgery that summer. He started slow not taking much shots and only averaging about 22 ppg for the first month...but ended the season averaging nearly 32. 2007 is the season Kobe had four straight 50 point games (two of which were 60+). And he had TEN 50 point games overall that season.
I watched every game Kobe ever played, only on tv, but i never missed any game since his sophomore year. That game against GSW was game that also hurt me like nothing else in my life, beside my family personaly problems. Even watching now, it hurts me so much, i miss him, and God was cruel not to let him be healthy, as he would be best ever in everything if he stayed healthy.
Man your videos are flat out excellent. This by far the best put together Kobe video I've seen. As a spectator I went missing from the NBA after Jordan's second retirement &, as a one eyed Bulls fan, didn't return until the ascension of Rose. I really regret not seeing prime Kobe, Iverson, Carter, etc, but I also find it harder to understand the comparisons made between Kobe & Jordan because I didn't see enough of him actually playing. This video demonstrates the guys greatness far more than any highlights reel video can. It's clear he had the mental toughness & desire that Jordan was famous for & LeBron so infamously lacks. And to see how he just gave it his all right up to everything breaking, man, what can I say? Prior to this vid I held the impression that Kobe was a top 10 all time player, probably not as talented overall as Le Bron, & that GOAT conversations around him were a bit far fetched. I'm reconsidering his status in my eyes altogether now. Thanks. 👍🏻
Love the video bro! Also a primary reason for Kobe’s high Mins played was due to Jim Buss hiring Dantoni to be the HC instead of bringing back Phil Jackson ( who Kobe n Dwight wanted )to coach n manage an older roster 1., n 2. Signing Steve Nash who was 40 to run a high paced tempo all offense none defensive system, 3. Not being able to acquire any talent/youth at the Pg n Sf positions and ultimately trading Odom to the Mavs at the beginning of the season for literally a bag of chips(money 💰 not players). The front office n ownership ruined the last few strong yrs Kobe could’ve had for petty grievances and ego
The dude stood up after tearing his achilles, sank two clutch free throws, and walked off the court on his own. I'll never forget that moment as long as I live.
I didn't really watch basketball in 2012 cause I was 8 and 8 year old usually try doing dumb s***.Then I was watching the playoffs Lakers vs Spurs first round when I seen Kobe put up 25 I was like he is the best ever
finally somebody who speaks the truth.. been tellin everybody this forever ppl forget what the dysfunctional Lakers & Mike Dantoni especially put him through at the end. If he played for the Spurs and was managed how Tony & Tim were 32MPG + resting he could've played until 40 easily.
Man thank you for this video. I grew up watching and wanting to play like Kobe. I remember watching that season all the time due to me wanting to go to a game but not being able to. Made me really sad when the injury happened. He was killin that season
I've always said that! I'm so glad you made this video! The dude went in court and shot 2/2 free throws with a torn achilles... That's just ... No words can describe the mamba mentality. And I was a hater for a long time. Not a today's era twitter hater, I always respected the man, but I was a Celtics fan. But the greatness that Kobe had was unmatched, just because of that mentality. He was always in Jordan's shadow, but always rose up to reach the unreachable. Love that dude.
Thanks for making this video. I am just old enough to have gotten heavily into the NBA around 1994 saw a little Van Exel and Eddie Jones, I got to appreciate his career from start to finish and remember it all very clearly. Always felt people spent so much time hating him, or the polar opposite, those who got so used to it and just expected it and thought nothing of it after a while, detracted from how amazing he really was as a player.
I always remember this season......The Lakers had a terrible chemistry that time but Kobe still carried them to the playoffs but he got injured later that season..........What If Kobe never got an Achilles Injury.......
Dom2k has become my favorite basketball channel on UA-cam. The videos you post are well edited, well narrated, and you do your best be as unbiased as possible. Keep up the great work man!
Thank you so much for this video. I'VE BEEN TELLING PEOPLE THE EXACT SAME THING. I guess people just looked at the record/ seeding that year and it overshadowed Kobe's greatness. Cheers!
You are spot on!!! I've said this a lot as the season was happening. You highlighted the Charlotte and Toronto games which was for me one of the best back to back games of his career. (I liked that Toronto game better than the 81) I rank this season #2 just under the 05-06 season. But I admit it's close. The Lakers were a legitimate this season too. They tied for the 4th best record in the NBA over the last 40 games (28-12) and seemed to have figured it out. SA would have been tough, but I believe that would have been able to take any team in the west that year. While Kobe was playing like that, they had a chance...
This was music to my ears. i still couldnt get over that year because of the greatest that Kobe made us all accustomed to but now i feel closure lol. Thanks for the vid bro ✊💯💯
Kobe is the GOAT, he carried a mediocre team to the promised land twice in a row past his prime. And he carried an even worse team to the playoffs at age 34 despite injuries. If David stern allowed the cp3 trade to happen Kobe wouldn’t have gotten injured and would’ve won his 6th ring and maybe even a 7th, placing himself as the all-time leading scorer and the GOAT.
Excellent video. i remember my uncle talking about this kid in Pa. who going to the HOF. I watched the game on ESPN later that night. Kobe and Bron the only cats i saw that i knew it after a few plays
I'm a Lakers fan so I'm escaping the misery of this current season by watching this video to remind me of what true greatness was. As sad as his Achilles injury was, that whole season and the physical sacrifice he made just adds to his legacy.
His age 34 season, you're not giving it enough justice simply by showing people his age. You need to also compare it to players during their 17th season to truly give that season its full appreciation. Yeah, Jordan put up bigger scoring numbers at age 34 but that wasn't during his 17th season. When you compare Kobes 17th season to any other players 17th season..well, lets just say its not even close, he blows absolutely everyone out the water.
I say Kobe was better than mj at 34 I mean Jordan barely out did Kobe in points by 1, in rebounds by .2, in steals by .3, in blocks by.2, and in shooting percentage by .2, but Kobe had 2.5 more assists, and in 3 point percentage was 8.6, if u add up what Jordan did better and what Kobe did better, Kobe comes out on top
Jordan had shooters like Kukoc and Kerr spacing the D - and an actual healthy functioning point guard to make plays, too. Kobe had .... Steve Blake (to "handle" BOTH roles lol) along with Ron Artist's gentle touch.
@@lesnakejames505 True, at 34 yrs old MJ won 69 games and the MVP of the NBA Finals, same at 35 yrs old except MJ won the MVP of the season and Finals, Kobe was the closest thing he had it, but Jordan had it × ten. Again no disrespect to Kobe.
I've watched Kobe whole career from day one, and I feel that he was robbed of the MVP in the 05-06 season. Which was his best to me. To make it as far as the Lakers did that season with the team that he had was incredible. The 62 points in just 3 quarters against the team with the best record in the NBA (Mavs). And a month later the 81 points vs the Raptors. Dude was ridiculous that season!
How about 2003 and the 9 straight 40+ games, right after his first daughter was born.... . . In EVERY game for a solid month, he'd dribble once or twice over halfcourt, pull up and drain a three with that same back-of-the-iron 'pop' that was his signature. He'd open the game with 5+ casual threes in the 1st quarter every damn game! I had a ten game mini season-ticket pack (i think it was the year after the 40+ streak) and one of the games was the 65 vs Portland in OT. I've never been to any playoff fame or concert (or whatever else) before or since where everyone in attendance was gasping in disbelief and losing their proverbial shit over and over and over.
Glad you made a video on this as Ive always thought the same about that season. Although he wasn't as physically capable as before, he had truly mastered his skills, shot and even ball IQ and on top of that his experience was out of every other players league which made him unstoppable . What a waste we only got to see the beginning of that stage in his career
The season that ended Kobe Bryant's career as we knew it was also his most underrated season, today I wanted to cover what made it so great.

Kobe easily had a case to win MVP that year considering he put the Lakers on his back and carried them to the playoffs.
LORD KEITH he was seeded too low and LeBron had a historic season plus the Heat finished 1st in the league. Kobe balled out though💯
Jccc Cjjj but when the same is said about Curry winning MVP over LBJ all of his fans constantly want to alter the criteria of MVP

Abram Vargas it's Lavar Ball's logic
Thanks. 👍🏻
Rip to my favorite player and the reason I fell in love with the game
Such an underrated channel, at first i thought you had a million subs!
I read a article about this season and this is one of the many reasons he is my favorite of all time
Young kids dont know the late great kobe smh 🐐🐐🐐🐐 LEBRON AINT THE REAL GOAT THIS IS WHAT REAL PASSION LOOKS LIKE MAMBA MENTALITY
@igor The Late Great. Rip
Man, i really am going to miss watching Kobe play. Glad i got to see his entire career and accomplishments though.
The symbolism of the injury happening against the Warriors. The guard had changed right under our noses.
Damn man the title and thumbnail just hit me ... ill never see another player like kobe again.
Kobe had the ultimate work ethic on and off the court
Lebron James and ur fav player gets a cramp and has to get carried off kobe tears his acl he takes to free throws and walks off without being carried
My favorite Kobe season of all time. And I watched his ENTIRE career
The front office n ownership ruined the last few strong yrs Kobe could’ve had for petty grievances and ego
thanks for uploading this
i agree
this was one of his best seasons and the fact that he waa 34 is amazing
Kobe the GOAT
3:12 the most beautiful thing I've ever seen
The dude stood up after tearing his achilles, sank two clutch free throws, and walked off the court on his own. I'll never forget that moment as long as I live.
this entire season was the greatest season i ever watched
Imagine If Kobe Didn't Get His Achilles Tear
I couldn't agree more, great season from Kobe. Love the 8s too!
R.I.P To the Mamba. Still doesn't feel real.
Man thank you for this video. I grew up watching and wanting to play like Kobe. I remember watching that season all the time due to me wanting to go to a game but not being able to. Made me really sad when the injury happened. He was killin that season
Kobe is the GOAT 🐐 for his work ethic and his determination and dedication to basketball and being the greatest
this made me appreciate kobe even more. thanks for this vid.
This video made me sad I watched every laker game I was at the warriors game when he got hurt everyone was in shock
Idk whyy...But this Video made me cry..
watching this with a smile on my face knowing already it's a good video :)
now this turned sad all of the sudden
Kobe would have broke every record except bill Russell 12 ships he was going to pass Jordan with the rings the fucking Dwight Howard plague.
Kobe would've EASILY caught and surpassed Kareem without injuries, oh well wasn't meant to be. #GOAT
JustWorkingOut 2407 facts bro
JustWorkingOut 2407 Cp3 saying fuck the NBA and Lebron like should have been me instead of Howard
Kenneth Valentine STFU about what ifs
JustWorkingOut 2407 absolutely not easy but I do believe Kobe would have passed Kareem as well
Thanks for making this video.
Our utmost gratitude to you Dom2k for shedding this light upon Kobe's Greatness. Beautiful video.
Kobe's awesome
Dom2k has become my favorite basketball channel on UA-cam. The videos you post are well edited, well narrated, and you do your best be as unbiased as possible. Keep up the great work man!
How they forget. How quickly they forgot.
The 2012-2013 season gives me newfound respect for Kobe. To do what he did at 34 years old and 17 years into his career is just incredible.
Kobe wouldve broken kareems record if he never got injured. Yes or no
Jsfolife 1 no
No
Jsfolife 1 hard to tell. one thing for sure is that he would have been hella close
Couldn't even beat Karl Fucking malone so shut up
Roger Roger calm down dude if Kobe would've not got hurt and played his last 5 seasons healthy he would've broken the record
Those 3 3s against Toronto is hands down one of the craziest things Kobe pulled off in his career.
They got Kobe for at least 2 MVPS he should definitely have more than 1
Thank you so much for this video. I'VE BEEN TELLING PEOPLE THE EXACT SAME THING. I guess people just looked at the record/ seeding that year and it overshadowed Kobe's greatness. Cheers!
Wasn't this also the year after Stern vetoed the CP3 deal? Smh
Jamarcus Russell #2Hunnit #2TORMSCOMING
Cp3 bs was in 2011
Season in the video was 2012-2013
You are spot on!!!
Damn what a great video
I watched every single Lakers game of that season. Truly inspiring and truly underrated. Great video man!
This seriously was the most underrated season ever
Kobe and Bron the only cats i saw that i knew it after a few plays
i miss kobe.
Paradite he would be younger though
nicely put together man.
i never knew kobe pretty much crawled off the court.
this video shows how we all forget that legends age too.
Mike Diantoni RAN KOBE IN THE GROUND WITH THE MINS
I say Kobe was better than mj at 34 I mean Jordan barely out did Kobe in points by 1, in rebounds by .2, in steals by .3, in blocks by.2, and in shooting percentage by .2, but Kobe had 2.5 more assists, and in 3 point percentage was 8.6, if u add up what Jordan did better and what Kobe did better, Kobe comes out on top
Jason ochoa and at that time kobe already been n the league longer than jordan
Yet Jordan won the championship and MVP so hush your mouth boi
Jordan had shooters like Kukoc and Kerr spacing the D - and an actual healthy functioning point guard to make plays, too.
Kobe had .... Steve Blake (to "handle" BOTH roles lol) along with Ron Artist's gentle touch.
@@lesnakejames505 True, at 34 yrs old MJ won 69 games and the MVP of the NBA Finals, same at 35 yrs old except MJ won the MVP of the season and Finals, Kobe was the closest thing he had it, but Jordan had it × ten. Again no disrespect to Kobe.
Dude Kobe copies everything Jordan did.
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO REMEMBERED THIS GREAT SEASON!! FINALLY SOMEONE BROUGHT IT UP, THANK YOU!!
Phil jackson only reason the streak stopped cause shaq came bak
Same here
you don't win mvp as a 7th seed moron lmao
@@Slipknot5301 Thank you
I'm so glad you brought this up. I was telling people the same thing about this season
Kobe Ultra Instinct
Glad you made a video on this as Ive always thought the same about that season. Although he wasn't as physically capable as before, he had truly mastered his skills, shot and even ball IQ and on top of that his experience was out of every other players league which made him unstoppable . What a waste we only got to see the beginning of that stage in his career
next up: the season when dom2k blew up
Ixx DarKZ0nE xxI dom2k most underrated season of commentary
