She crosses the Pont des Arts, which connects the French Academy (the institution governing the French language) and the Louvre Palace (formerly known as the Palace of the Arts), dressed as a Phoenix. She is a controversial singer in France because of her use of street French and slang. In short, this is highly symbolic: she embodies the Phoenix that revives (or evolves) the French language through art.
That’s why she’s walking, and why she’s wearing gold

Her dress is handmade by Dior and it is a rising Phoenix.

Hello, I want to inform you that she had a long walk and with the rain it was possible to fall. This prestation was symbolic and emotional for us (French people), because the racists didn’t want her to represent us. She made it like a queen with her beautifull dancers and the French republican band. I cryed because thanks to her our diversity win ! ❤🎉 Gros bisous de Paris❤

I don’t think the colour of the dress is the problem it is the dress it self it was not that flattering on her. And same goes for the make up and hair because she is a gorgeous lady the just chose the wrong stuff

Ok just a bit of a context, france just pass through big racism problem in politics. And the racist of france don't like that she performs during the jo24. So that why so many critics now.

I thought so too but actually they don’t care about her skin color but more so about the slangs and lack of proper vocabulary in her popular songs French republicans go hard for their culture it’s like a paraphilia at this point

No, honestly, the controversy arose from Aya Nakamura's vulgar language, not a racist problem. France isn't racist, otherwise there wouldn't have been these two artists :
Axelle Saint Cyre was chosen to sing the French anthem “La Marseillaise” at the opening ceremony and Yseult was chosen to sing “My Way” at the closing ceremony.
No controversy at all for these two artists...!! 🥰
