    I have a 2021 Tacoma and after trying several speaker brands including 6x9 3 ways top of the line tweeters and midranges the system didn’t sound as great as I expected. In my specific vehicle case
    Tacomas require a 2.5 to 2.75 speaker on the dashboard and 6x9 in doors
    I’m running a mosconi dsp and an audison 4 channel amp to run my kenwoods active.
    I will tell you these worked excellent and I’m able to reproduce all the frequencies despite not using tweeters in my truck
    Highly recommend these kenwoodsmake sure you use all the gasket trim they provide

    I'm considering separating the tweeter from the mid-range on the 3.5" speaker and running the set 3-way full active. Anybody know how to remove the tweeter from the mid-range?

    I've looked at the instructions from the Kenwood website, and I feel the wiring information could be slightly clearer. It appears to show suggested wiring with the crossover network attached to the 3 1/2" dash speaker, and then wired in parallel with the 6x9 (low-pass connector) to the source. The diagram with the 'Y' coming from the amplifier requires zooming in significantly to see clearly.

    Was the 2013-2016 Dodge Dart a confirmed compatible fit vehicle for these sets?

      I took a quick look at what is possible to fit a Dodge Dart, it looks like it has several possible factory configurations. Unfortunately, most of the options feature a non 6x9 configuration. Please visit your local KENWOOD authorized dealer for help with what works best with your vehicle's setup. Thanks

    What is the sound difference between the 2.75 high frequency speaker and the 3.5 coaxial speaker?

      The 3.5 has a tweeter so it reproduces much higher frequencies.

  • @Nscalestuff

    My question for myself and other Ram owners: if I install these using the factory wiring setup, the dash speaker will be super loud in comparison to the door. Would it be more practical that after I install the x over in the door or behind the kick panel, that I run a new speaker wire from the crossover to the dash that way all 4 front speakers are running 4 ohms? Because if I use the existing wiring, i will drop to a 2 ohm load on the factory HU, and the dash will be super loud as I mentioned above. To those who aren't aware of/or dont understand the point of my question, in All Ram trucks, the door 6x9s are 4 ohm, and are wired in parallel with the dash 3.5s which are 8 ohm speakers.

    • @iamlorenhoward
      @iamlorenhoward 4 роки тому

      I don't notice the dash being any louder than the door speakers in my Challenger. If anything, the dash could be louder because it's playing into the windshield. I know that brings a harshness around 2k-4k, maybe higher.

    Does the XP6903C utilize the KFC-X3C for the 3.5" driver? And do both the 6902C and 6903C work on a 2019 Highlander, or is that trim dependent? The Kenwood site suggests it's compatible but Crutchfield says the 6903C doesn't fit for some reason.

    • @KenwoodUSA
      @KenwoodUSA  Рік тому

      David the XP6903C uses the same driver as the sold-separately KFC-X3C. Since a quick google search shows the dash speaker as 3.5" I could only suggest using the XP6903C as an upgrade option. Please reach out to a KENWOOD eXcelon authorized dealer, for a 1 on 1 suggestion for fitment, as many will suggest looking at the vehicle to properly identify fitment and compatability. Thanks!

I would recommend reaching out to your local KENWOOD authorized dealer or one of our Authorized Online retailers for fitment suggestions since they will ask you the correct questions to ensure a proper fitment with the OEM speaker config you have. Okay so if I'm setting the high pass on these, what do I need to set for them on the head unit? 2 way or 3 way? I have my hpf for the 6x9 at 80hz and the tweeter set at 5khz, 24db slope as is recommended for SUV's. And also they are crackling quite a bit. I had them "professionally" installed but if it has to do with wiring I wouldn't even know where to look, as I didn't do it. I'm thinking of taking them off to investigate🤔 thanks

    • @KenwoodUSA
      @KenwoodUSA  2 роки тому

      Derek Gallegos, It will be difficult to recommend tuning via the youtube comment section since tuning should be done while listening to the system and optimally using measurement tools. Since these were installed professionally, and the equipment used is unique to your setup, It would be best to return to the dealer that set up these speakers and let them address your concerns.
      Without listening to the speakers first hand, it's also difficult to pinpoint the cause of the "cracking." It can mean several things, you might be overpowered, Underpowered, or even using a poor quality music source, in some cases could even mean an issue with fitment or loose obstruction making contact with the speakers.
      Speakers are similar to tires on a car, in the way that you can damage a tire from poor alinement, too low/high air pressure, worn components, or abusive driving. Just like a tire on a car, for a speaker, if everything is not set up just right, it can result in poor performance, premature wear, or worse cause damage to the speaker.
      Thanks!

      @@KenwoodUSA well after watching a few videos I know that they didn't use any of the foam included in the box for any of the speakers. I'm currently using Spotify via Bluetooth, and as far as I know they are under powered, basically just the head unit. But my car did have an oem factory amp but I don't know it's wattage let alone if they kept that connected. The store I did it at is very sketchy. More of those product pushers rather than car audio experts. Installed my amp and had the gain turned all the way up for my subs. I've been networking with individuals that are professional and I will probably have them do it rather than that store. Thank you for your input, I'm gonna get on it 😁

      @@derekmatthew8908 It's good to use the gaskets for the best performance and reduce the chance of noise from rattles.
      One issue that can come up with Bluetooth streaming is the volume levels on the phone are set too low. Check your volume from the phone while connected and turn the phone volume up to max, make sure to have the volume on the vehicle receiver set low before doing this or you could damage the speakers. This ensures you get the cleanest and loudest signal from the smartphone. Thanks!

    I have 2006 Chrysler 300. The Kenwood site says XP6903c will fit but Crutchfield says it won't. Is this because I may have to undermount the 3.5 inch driver in factory location to re-use factory grills? Or because I would need to space the 6x9 for window clearance in the doors? Or perhaps both? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @Barney-hk3es
      @Barney-hk3es 3 роки тому +1

      The 6x9 is basically the same depth as the factory so it should fit. Crutchfield said the same thing for my Avenger. I bought the set anyway. I had to do some minor timing on the plastic panel the 6x9 mounts to. Noting serious but that is probably why Crutchfield listed it as not fitting. My 3.5" fit just fine in the dash. I'm not familiar with the 300 but my guess is they will fit fine and any issues would be relatively minor.

    Here's something I don't understand.
    The xr401-4 amp in this video, would make the woofer play up to 2.5khz, and the dash 2.5khz and up. That's the limits on the amp crossover.
    Problem is, the crossovers that come with the 6902/6903 say 800hz. The specs for both drivers, say 800hz as well. "online, it says 850hz. Different from my manual"
    If you buy that amp, wouldn't the speaker roll off after 800hz somewhere, and you'd be missing some sound until 2.5khz?

    • @KenwoodUSA
      @KenwoodUSA  3 роки тому

      When you configure these speakers with the XR401-4 amp you can use the crossover for the dual-channel configuration when using only 2 channels or 4 channels bridged, this will require the crossover to divide the frequency between each speaker in order to control & cut what frequency levels each speaker will see.
      You can also run these speakers in Bi-Amp configuration where you set up the 3"/2" speaker to one channel of the amp and the 6x9 to the other channel of the amp, this allows you to eliminate the crossover and tune each channel to the optimal frequency and gain separately.
      The inline crossover is set as a "static" limit for what high or low frequency can pass through to the speaker, It is also known as a "Passive Crossover" because it does not allow any frequency adjustment, and the frequency value is set for each speaker.
      When you eliminate the crossover and tune the cutoff frequency from the amp, this is known as an "Active Crossover" by separating the different size speakers into completely separate channels, this allows you more control to choose what frequency cut off you allow each speaker to see, using each channels controls to set the limits from separate channels. You can use 2 channels (Front) to control the 3"/2" speaker, and you can use 2 channels (Rear) to control the 6 x 9" speakers.
      This provides the best sound possible with any speaker configuration.
      Thanks!

    • @tatsumaru12345
      @tatsumaru12345 3 роки тому +1

      But that wasn't the question. I am bi amping yes. BUT! The xr401-4 can not do the 850hz crossover these speakers need. 2.5khz, is the best it can do. Meaning the woofer is playing higher than it should, and the 2.5/3.5 isn't playing low enough.
      The question was, is it safe for the woofer to play to 2.5khz? So I tried it myself. And after actually trying it myself, above 1.5khz there is some breakup and beaming. Even with the crossover being at -24db.
      I would not be advertising the xr401-4 to run these without the passive crossovers.

      @@tatsumaru12345 For this particular configuration, to run your setup bi-amped it would be best to use the supplied speaker crossovers with the amp LPF/HPF set as off per each speaker set since the crossover points on the amp are not what you are looking for with this layout. Thanks!
